Hi @thosethreewords!
It got a bit too much for me on the other one, so I dipped into this thread. It became a bit overwhelming for me 😅
I would like to enjoy the journey more than anything, being able to share on here is great!

ttc12019 · 03/01/2019 17:39

@Peaky1 😂 I like the countdown! My DH is loving being jumped on 😂

Outwards · 03/01/2019 17:46

Hi @Choo89!

Lots of people swear by OPKs but they didn't work for me. I think I have a short LH surge so most months I never got a positive, but I'm definitely ovulating (confirmed by bloods).

In the end they stressed me out, and DH, and so we stuck to just DTD every 2-3 days from cycle day 7-20. Definitely covered then!

hodgeheg92 · 03/01/2019 19:13

@thosethreewords I had no choice but to just DTD lots cos I had no idea when I would be ovulating after being on the pill for so many years. I did start to worry though and spoke to my friend about feeling down about not knowing because I hadn't had a period. She reminded me that the other reason I wouldn't have a period would be if I was pregnant. I told her I wasn't (had POAS a fortnight or so previous) but she said I should test again. I did the next day and it was positive!

I'm feeling more nervous and planning more this time now I know my cycle but hoping that we weren't just crazy lucky last time and we are fertile.

@peaky1 I love the countdown Grin

PyjamasForever · 03/01/2019 19:27

@iano with my first I just knew too. Had a dream and woke up to go a pregnancy test that was months old at 4am. It was positive... what a surprise.

@choo89 I don't temp or use OPKs, we're just DTD every other day. If I'm not pregnant by the time we're exhausted then I might think about OPKs.

iano · 03/01/2019 19:50

@Outwards ohhhh well that might be you're body telling your something!!
Crossing my fingers for you. I hope it's aBFP on Sunday. Not long to go. I'm tempted to test but I think just getting my period might be less upsetting for some reason... i don't know why I feel like that.

@Choo89 I've tried for my November cycle. We weren't trying then but I wanted to get my head around it. I found I never really got a strong positive. I also kept forgetting which was pretty useless Blush

Which ones have you got?

Farhana170 · 03/01/2019 19:52

@choo89 @outwards @pyjamasforever I plan to dtd every other day next month if I'm out this month.

Mcstark7 · 03/01/2019 20:15

Hey all, hubby and I are TTC #2. DD is 1. Over Christmas I got my first period since DD was born - a breastfeeding Mum. I planned to wean DD off completely for my cycle to return. This week DD has been bf more due to teething. Will this impact my fertility?

KernowBee · 03/01/2019 21:46

Hi all!

Welcome to everyone new to the thread & happy new year. Sorry I've been quiet. Been quite poorly so laid low for a few days!

Currently in my "fertile" window but I've misplaced my thermometer and can't find it for the life of me. Grr! The last time I did temp 2 days ago, it was on the rise for O so I've been making sure every day is covered. Even asked the OH to wake me up when he came to bed for it haha! Determined!

It is exhausting covering each day of my fertile window every month and still not being lucky a year into this. Sex is starting to feel like a chore.

Currently cycle day 16, but typically all 4 apps have different predicted O days!

Also is it just me, or is countless people you know suddenly pregnant?! Bah humbug, or is that too late lol?

@Peaky1 it really is so nice to read about everyone since I can't discuss it with anyone in person! FX for a "busy" FW for you 😜

@Farhana170 yep I just hang around loads of threads at once 😂 makes me feel a bit better when I'm going crazy and I read that you all are too... no offence!🙃

@Outwards ohhh yes all the symptom spotting. I've been nauseous, headache, backache... you name it! My chart looks good though - temp dip 8 DPO then risen sharply since so fx it's a good sign. I tested today (Thursday at 10 DPO on a FRER) and it was negative.

@KernowBee yes I've seen lots of announcements on FB and I really am happy for everyone but I can't wait for my own baby too so it's hard!

Outwards · 04/01/2019 16:24

How's everyone doing today?

I'm around 13dpo now, feeling exactly as I do just before AF so I know I'm out.

Just had a conversation with DH about deciding whether to continue trying or not. It's just such a roller-coaster and life has been on hold for too long. Sorry to rant!

Massive luck to everyone else, I want to see lots of BFPs!

x

PyjamasForever · 04/01/2019 17:15

Had a withdrawal bleed when my coil came out last week, but having another bleed today and not sure if it's withdrawal or period. Will probably mean it's not worth testing until Feb now!

So hard to know what to expect after years of contraception!

tedsy · 04/01/2019 17:50

Hi

Can I join .. trying to conceive #1 for a year now with no luck yet. We've decided not to tell many people we are trying for baby so it's nice to read through the forums with other people going through similar times. Smile

Fingers crossed for some positive news for all.

thosethreewords · 04/01/2019 19:48

I'm out this cycle - AF arrived right on time!
Was really gutted earlier. Also coincided with a shitty day in general.
But I've picked myself up and trying to focus on things I can do and enjoy this month now as a result of being back trying.

hodgeheg92 · 04/01/2019 20:21

Sorry to hear that @thosethreewords but I'm glad AF didn't keep you waiting and tease you. And you too @pyjamasforever I hope your periods regulate quickly so you can work out when your fertile window is.

The limbo is difficult. Went to make myself a coffee earlier and wasn't sure whether to dig out the decaf (I did) but I didn't like the not knowing. T-5 days until AF, which is also my DDs first day at nursery, going to be an emotional one!

Mammy32 · 05/01/2019 07:39

Hello everyone, ok to join in?
I'm on cycle 11 or 12 of trying (lost count Hmm), think I'm 2 or 3dpo. We have a little boy who has just turned 3, so trying for number 2.
Christmas was really hard, everyone seemed to be pregnant or have a little baby.
But remaining positive for the new Year. Will need to see GP soon if don't get a bfp.

PyjamasForever · 05/01/2019 08:39

@hodgeheg92 I remember my DS's first day at nursery... I definitely cried for longer than he did!! It's such a big thing leaving your most precious thing with strangers, but actually they have so much fun and learn loads once there. How old is your LO?

iano · 05/01/2019 13:59

@thosethreewords im sorry! I hope you're feeling ok? It's hard

@hodgeheg92 Hope the nursery start will be super smooth.

Re not caffein etc what's the advice on this. I was chatting to someone who said that until the Fetus has implanted there is no direct bloodstream so it's not terrible to carry on with caffein etc. Is that true?

With my first I had no idea caffein was an issue until I saw the GP for my hospital referral at 5 weeks.

hodgeheg92 · 05/01/2019 14:57

@mammy32 sorry you found Christmas difficult, hopefully you'll get your BFP soon.

@pyjamasforver My DD is 1 next week, this year has gone so quickly! I've been lucky that I've been able to have a longer mat leave than originally planned due to very generous family buying lots of our baby things and spending a lot less going out than we used to.

@iano I don't know the details/science but I just assumed caffeine was something that I should restrict straight away. Not too madly, had a normal coffee today, but I'm going to be careful.

MrsT2019 · 05/01/2019 17:42

Hello everyone,

I'm tentatively posting as I don't think DH and I will be actively TTC this month (but not preventing either - if it happens, it happens), but eager to chat as TTC is on my radar.

I'm 28, I've been with my partner for 8 years, been on pill for 8 years and took last pill on 29th Dec. Currently on cycle day 3 (AF). We only got married in Autumn last year, and still don't feel 100% ready for the responsibility of a baby (does anyone ever though?!), but I'm also nervous we don't know how long it's going to take. My parents took 5 years to conceive both their children and a close relative took about 1 year to conceive her first and then sadly had a miscarriage (happily she now has 2 more children) so I don't think we can be complacent about it happening straight away, but I also don't want to get too obsessed with tracking and overwhelmed by dos & don'ts.

I'm also nervous about what it will be like coming off the pill, I have loved being totally regular for 8 years and I don't have great memories of my previous periods/acne/cramps!
I have bought some ovulation strips this month, but I'm thinking of using them more for curiosity's sake (to see when/if my cycle kicks back into action naturally - FX) than TTC. Also testing out some tracking apps - Ovia, Flo, Glow and Clue. Not sure about Glow but open-minded about others.

Good luck to all of you actively trying and hoping this month, I'm thinking of you.

Sazzyg1000 · 05/01/2019 18:07

Hello all :) I've been ttc since oct- nothing yet. However I'm now 2 days late but a negative test :( feeling frustrated as I'm tracking my temperature, taking folic acid, exercising gently, don't drink or smoke. Any encouragement would be greatly appreciated!

hodgeheg92 · 05/01/2019 18:36

@MrsT2019 You sound like I did when I came off the pill, overall wanting a baby, nervous of the possibility, wary because of other people's struggles to conceive and wanting to "stop not trying" as DH and I called it when we were trying but didn't want to get too invested. Like I've said previously (in this thread I think!) DD was then conceived in the first month. I hope you are like me, and know that you will be as ready as you can be when the time comes. I still don't think I'm ready and DD is nearly 1 now Grin

Hi @Sazzyg1000 I hope you're late because you are pregnant despite the BFN.

tedsy · 05/01/2019 19:37

@iano I'm curious about the caffeine advise too... I am a huge tea addict and I am not clear if that impacts things or not

Also curious about hot baths - I read somewhere that hot baths can have a negative effect on any sperm that may be waiting for the egg..

There is so much contradicting advise out there its hard to know what to listen to and what to ignore

MrsT2019 · 05/01/2019 19:41

@hodgeheg92 Thank you for your message, I definitely relate. I should keep in mind it could happen in the first month, even if I'm not expecting it! I'm mostly nervous of losing my sense of self and freedom (and my body changing!) On the other hand I was reading some 'Is this a positive test?' threads earlier and feeling a pang of excitement for what's to come! What will be will be and we will adapt to it.

@Sazzyg1000 Thinking of you and hope you get good news soon, even if it's not this cycle. Don't lose hope!

iano · 05/01/2019 20:15

@tedsy I've had a google and there seem to be conflicting studies on this. From what I can gather some indicate that lots of caffein can cause low birth weight and an increased risk of MC. Other studies have found there is no connection between caffein and MC.
Because there is such a lack of clarity Nhs advice is no more than 200mg of caffein (2 cups of instant coffee or tea) per day.
Clear as mud Grin
