What is a cold womb?

ronshar · 06/08/2007 11:12

Morning ladies.
Sorry I posted and ran last week, I promise I wasnt ignoring you all especially as you were so very kindly offering to change date of cake feast for me.
I had to go into hosp for an operation. Nothing to serious and nothing to do with the whole baby stuff. However apparently having an anaethestic,(?spelling? I always get that wrong!!) makes your body do all kinds of funny things. So I wonder if that has contributed to me being so crap for the last 5months, post ERPC. I am clinging to that as the alternative is pure insanity.
The best time for cake for me would be when kids go back to school but I can make it any time after the 27th August. If that doesnt work then consider it a lucky escape as I may not be able to leave cake for anyone else!

ronshar · 06/08/2007 11:15

Glad you had a good holiday Ellie. A change of scene is often enough to bring a new perspective on life.
Cold womb. It doesnt feel cold when it is all cramped up when it should be producing little eggs to be magically transformed into a little baby for me!

alittlebitshy · 06/08/2007 11:21

I have the same thoughts as ronsgar re the cake fest.

dd and i are off to my parents today. for 2 weeks. omg not sure i'll survive. dh is away on a youth camp and i thought we'd go to my folks while he was away, then he has said he wants to join us after he finishes thr camp... argh!!!

i'm coming back twice for a night at a time cos dd's room os being painted and carpeted so i'll be checking up. Plus dh and i will get away for a night on our own, so that will be nice.

pg not going to happen this month cos he away the crucial week, but i also realised yesterday that I am not up to having a m/c this month (pessimistic i know, but i need to think these things through lol), so it's no bad thing if it doesn't happen til next month or beyond.

if can get on web at my parents i'll be on to read properly and RANT!!

ronshar · 06/08/2007 12:24

Littlebit, I hope you have a great break. Let you parents look after you. You need some free time to work through the last few months. Physically and mentally have one mc is bad enough but to have more than that is a trauma. Have some tlc, even if it is just not getting up to do breakfast for ds.
have a great time. Im off to mil for 10 days! What fun.

torres · 06/08/2007 13:13

Hi all,

the book I was refering to is 'The ancient fertility cure: The ancient chinese programme for getting pregnant' by Randine Lewis. The author is a US gynaecologist who conceived her 1st child very easily but had real problems conceiving her second and western medicine didn't come up with any answers. I think she suffered a mc too. She went to see a chinese doctor who treated her with herbs and acupuncture over several months and she conceived again. She was so amazed she took herself off to china and trained in chinese medicine. It's an interesting read as she doesn't get overly 'hippy-ish' and she basically reiterates that we need to heal and take care of our minds and bodies as they are linked.

The 'cold womb' thing which I have caused confusion over is one problem she discusses which many women suffer from. If you feel your lower abdomen with the back of your hand and it feels cooler than the rest of your abdomen that is a sign along with the cramps and other symptoms I can't recall. I think it is due to poor blood supply to the womb andnot responding to the warming effects of progesterone. The idea in chinese medicine is that your womb needs to be warm to act as an incubator for an egg, so you need to keep your abdomen warm- hot water bottles, massage, warming food etc.

Kensgirl- so glad you got a GP who was kind and helpful. Interesting what the GP said about folic acid, I hadn't heard that. Also interesting about taking 6 months to recover. If I had been told that in Feb I would have panicked but looking back, it is only really in the last few weeks I have begun to feel a bit more like me.

popsy this really ties in with how you are feeling. Your post was great- I really identified with it, I feel I have learnt alot about myself too and I hadn't realised how much I like to be in control

ellie glad you had a super hols, good to see you back. I read another post of yours that you are giving up smoking- good luck!

ronshar sorry to hear you had to go in to hospital and are facing a long stint at the in-laws- what a saint!

alittlebit 2 weeks with the folks!! you will definitely need alot of cake at the cake-fest!

EllieG · 06/08/2007 14:10

I am trying but have just had a fag.

kensgirl · 06/08/2007 14:18

Ellie -

Torres - that;s eally interesting. I've just been sitting here feeling my tummy, and it is slightly cooler, especially lower down and just over my pubic bone (sorry tmi ). Anyway, I will read that I think! hen I at here massaging over my womb area, and the warmth did feel soothing, amd relaxing. I'll have to dig out heated neck warmer thingies ... but not for my neck!

Hope you are feeling better Ronshar, I've just seen your post about not trying for a while, hope you are OK.

kensgirl · 06/08/2007 14:23

And its agreat excuse for wearing huuuge Bridgette Jones style knickers:

" Just warming my womb, Darling...." Kensgirl will be suductively murmuring to Mr KG.

flosspot · 06/08/2007 15:51

Hello all- everyone seems to be checking in because it's a Monday. Good luck all those with In-laws on the horizon. I think I've p!ssed off mine to the point where they want nothig more to do witth me. Maybe it's my cold womb.

Was thinking of 31st for cake fest....will that work for everyone???

harveysaunt · 06/08/2007 16:03

Hi Girls,

After 7 long weeks with no internet, im finally back and ready to tell you who i really am.

So here goes

harveys aunt = missnatalie

So sorry i kept it from you for so long but didnt feel ready to tell anyone.

Im 12+2. Had my dating scan early (last friday) due to a huge bleed. But beanie is doing well and we have no idea what caused the bleed. Nurse said it may be something to do with the HCG droping and placenta taking over, but not too sure.

I bought a doppler at 10w and have been hearing the heartbeat everyday since then.

I hope that you all dont mind me still coming on this thread. You helped me so much during the MC and dont wont to leave you all just yet.

Natalie x

missnatalie · 06/08/2007 16:06

There we go. The real me is back

EllieG · 06/08/2007 16:11

Ooo that's nice to know! Mystery solved ladies.
Glad all going well though Missnatalie - of course you can stay here. If I ever manage to get a bfp I will be hanging around as will be too scary to go to ante-natal stuff!
Lovely to hear beanie is doing well - my friend had a massive bleed which scared her, but apparently was a blood clot outside her womb, and everything was fine with her twins who are jumping around.

nh101 · 06/08/2007 17:43

Congrats Miss Natalie - hope all goes well for you.

I have had my blood test results - they are all "normal", but I am going back to doc's next Monday to see what "normal" means. They did LH/FSH test - but doesn't the result of that depend on where you are in your cycle? If anyone can think of what I need to ask, please tell me!

I am CD62 now and there is no sign of AF or PG (last month got cramps for 10 days before AF)

That's not "normal" is it!!!

popsy76 · 06/08/2007 17:47

Hi nh
ooh we are test pals (as ever eh?). Getting mine tomoz/wed. Am sure will be normal too hmmm
i also have had pains for 2 weeks bfore AF but has calmed down a lot now
kens gets something similar too - is very frustrating isn't it?
Let me know what he says so I can go pester mine
p.s. I would like to know why the docs know nothing about our symptoms when so many of us have them?

popsy76 · 06/08/2007 17:48

oops Hi missnatalie hooray for you - glad everything going well! Keep us posted! I had email from colleague saying she is having twins (really lovley email bless her) and I feel okay about it - AM SO BETTER ha ha - just waiting for the rollar coaster to drop me down again

OP posts:
kensgirl · 06/08/2007 17:58

Congratulations Miss Natalie! {smile]

Nh Popsy is right, as always I do get craamps too, but the last couple of months has been tons better, still abit crampy during AF, and then again around what I think is Ov, then maybe the day before af. There are so many of us here with similar things that I think it must just be the way of things after miscarriage, maybe we are all so tuned in and focussed on ttc tht we notice every twinge.

Wheelybug · 06/08/2007 18:26

Hello - Another one here who got test results today and all normal. These are my second set so shows I am definitely ovulating ok, so the next step is DH's little test and then we're up for referal. Was kind of hoping it showed I wasn't ovulating - silly as it sounds - because then I could take a few pills and everything be ok (because its as simple as that ).

Congrats MissNatalie - glad you've got safely to the end if 1st trimester !

Torres - the book does sound interesting. I have just bought the zita west one after having seen her on that BBC3 programme ('making a baby' I think it was called). Must read through it though and see what its all about.

Happy womb warming everyone !!!!

jess1996 · 06/08/2007 18:44

Unfortunately it was ectopic. I had to have surgery on Friday, but I'm back home now. Quite sore, but feeling ok. I'll post again in a few days.

ladylush · 06/08/2007 20:56

Oh no Jess - am so sorry Hope you are able to get lots of rest and please feel free to come on here and off-load as it's a traumatic experience. By surgery, do you mean to your tubes? Sorry if it seems I'm being nosy - just trying to find out what happened to you

Hi everyone else, this cold womb lark sounds fascinating. Might have to buy that book. Currently reading the one by Leslie Regan on Miscarriage. Interesting about the folic acid. Bit annoying when I've just bought a load of new supplements. I wonder if I can get some low dose folic acid to supplement what I've got.

pipsqueeke · 07/08/2007 08:30

morning all. haven't quite caught up yet. but will do - womb warming looks intresting to me. (althou I have ahem and extra tyre so that might be warming enough for me! lol.)

bleeding has stopped this end and a ultra sensitive test today was so faint it might as well not have been there so pretty sure everything's gone and now in order can get on with things now thou so that's good.

off to read anyhow about wombs.

jess - hope you're looking after yourself.

EllieG · 07/08/2007 08:51

Jess - so sorry

popsy76 · 07/08/2007 09:12

Hi jess poor you - god life sucks doesn't it? Sending huge hugs from potters bar!

Hello Ladies,

Like you I don't want to be on this thread but it is good to have the support of others. I miscarried 2 weeks ago at 16 weeks possibly due to having measles. I have 2 dd's 6 and 3. I know that really I should wait a couple of months for my body to recover but I can't bear the thought of avoiding pregnacy so don't want to use contraception. Last time it took me five months to get pregnant so I'm not expecting to get pregnant very quickly this time either though the first three times I got pregnant straight away.
Good luck to all of you!

smilesattheweekend · 07/08/2007 10:06

Hi going for 3, Like you not happy about being on this thread but like you say it is a good support which you don't get anywhere else. I mc'd in July and we decided that we are not trying "trying" but we are not not trying - if you get me. Hoping it will happen though, it takes me a long time to get pg, and thought that I may be more fertile after pg/mc - there is method in the madness somewhere!

Only thing is the recurrrent mc clinic told me to contact them straight away if I got pg but not sure when to expect af, don't want to miss any treatment they can give to help if I am pg, but not sure if I will know (or even want to know - ignorance is bliss) would be nice to go to app in september at clinic and them say I am 8 weeks or so. We can live in hope.

Good luck - keep us posted.
