Anyone else fresh off the pill!?

Hi ladies!
As my DH and i habe decided to TTC I took the last pill in my packet on 17th December and had my breakthrough bleed start on the 22nd and end on the 26th. Now the wait begins to see whether my cycle snaps back to normal and of course whether I concieve! I had been on microgynon for circa 3 years.

Is anyone else in a similar position and entering 2019 pill free!? I thought this would be a good place to track and share our experiences as they happen!

I have been fine with mine but what mg are you taking and are you taking any other vitamins? I think if you’re having too much can causing nausea and diarrhoea

peachypetite · 04/01/2019 08:48

Not taking other vitamins but have been taking it in the mornings before breakfast. I'm on the Superdrug one a day 400

Bubbles120 · 04/01/2019 09:01

Can i join? Finished my pill last week currently having withdrawl bleed. Hoping to have my body go back to normal as soon as possible. It snapped straight back when i came off it before to have DS. So keeping everything crossed for the same.

hillsandspills · 04/01/2019 15:06

Hi everyone, so interesting to read everyone's different experiences and worries, too - it's nice to know I'm not alone!
Plan on coming off the pill at the end of this pack, have been on it for about 12 years, so anxious to see how my body reacts.

Out of interest, is anyone else a keen runner, and read about how running a lot can lower fertility?!

Arewethereyet19 · 04/01/2019 16:18

Welcome bubbles120 and hillsandspills Smile

@hillsandspills mine is a slightly different situation but will explain incase it helps. I have been losing weight for the past 18 months to help with my health and I’ve been going the gym. I now do 6 classes a week and had seen something about this impacting fertility/pregnancy but when I asked my doctor about this they said there is no solid evidence but their advice would be as long as I was exercising sensibly and making sure I’m getting enough nutrition they have no concerns - although if I get pregnant may need to change some of the exercises I currently do. I can’t imagine running being that different but obviously that’s just my opinion.

PumpkinsMum18 · 04/01/2019 17:56

@Arewethereyet19 wow 6 classes a week, that’s great! You must be really motivated 😊 I need to get back into excercise, I bought some kettlebells to workout at home but haven’t been doing that very regularly. I used to run a bit - went to parkrun and did 10k race for life last year (that was half walking half running though!). I also did a 28km walk along the Thames Path for charity which I enjoyed 😄 Hoping to do more long walks this year but a baby bump might get in the way of that! 🤞

Arewethereyet19 · 04/01/2019 19:42

@pumpkinsmum18 I had a lot to lose! I’ve lost 5 stone but still a couple to go and have picked classes I like so that I won’t give up haha. Well done on the running/long walks. I’m definitely not a running fan! Want to try and keep it up though even if I get pregnant

PumpkinsMum18 · 04/01/2019 20:22

@Arewethereyet19 5 stone! That’s fantastic, well done! 🤗

Arewethereyet19 · 04/01/2019 20:42

Thanks @pumpkinsmum18 hoping it pays off now and will help me while ttc

Beddie11 · 04/01/2019 22:22

Hi,very much in the same boat as you! Took my last microgynon on the 17th of December also! Ttc#1 . Had withdrawal bleed on 20th december and now just waiting.. with no idea what to expect! I've been on the same pill for over 10 years and have absolutely no idea if I've ovulated yet or anything! Guess I'll wait and see what the next few weeks brings!

TTc2019Newbie2019 · 04/01/2019 22:45

@hillsandspills - this sounds very similar to me. I’ve been on the pill for 12 years too, just came off last month. Didn’t have a second thought when I was on it what it was doing to me. I guess time will tell! I’ll keep my fingers cross your body jumps back to its normal cycle!!

Also, the running thing is interesting - I run every day - not marathons, i’m not super fit but I put on weight easily so generally have to exercise every day, do 5-10km with the dog. I never realised this could affect fertility? I read you need to keep up regular exercise so didn’t think twice about it, i’d be interested to hear other people’s views?

@Beddie11 - I finished the pill and had withdrawal bleed on the same days as you!! Good luck with your ttc journey!

!!! UPDATE !!!
sorry if TMI, but noticed today that my CM seems to be egg-white textured as is supposed to be when ovulating, so I peed on an OP stick and I am indeed ovulating!
Need to see if AF comes when she is supposed to now, but it's nice to know I am back to functioning normally, or at least in part!

@peaky good to hear! Guess you better get on with the sexy time soon then! 😂

LanieM87 · 05/01/2019 19:45

@peaky297 aw that’s fab news! Fingers crossed you can start to track your cycles 😊

Gem1188 · 06/01/2019 08:19

@peaky297 fantastic news! Fingers crossed

aimingfor2019 · 06/01/2019 19:05

@peaky297 that's amazing news!
I've come on my period today 26days after my withdrawal bleed, so fingers cost that I ovulate this month.
Never thought I'd be so glad to have a period!

peaky297 · 06/01/2019 19:35

Great news aimingfor2019!! So weird to be wanting AF isn't it!? I never thought I'd be counting down the days waiting for it. I am nervous that the terrible pain I had before the pill will be back mind!

OP posts:
Gem1188 · 06/01/2019 19:51

@peaky297 and @aimingfor2019
I know what you mean. I have never wanted my period (I'm not sure what AF means) so much. And yet worried about the pain that will come with it as that is why I started the pill in the first place.
Let's keep our fingers crossed for everyone that it's not too much of a bumpy ride 😊

peaky297 · 08/01/2019 08:24

Sorry if TMI... so I believe that I ovulated a couple of days ago (and got sexytime in, so here's hoping!). The last two days post ovulation I have sore sensitive nipples... is this normal post ovulation?
Also, how is everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
Arewethereyet19 · 08/01/2019 08:38

@peaky297 mine have been sore after ovulation the 2 times since coming off the pill. When I looked it up apparently it can be common because of the hormone surge. Horrible though isn’t it!

peaky297 · 08/01/2019 09:09

Good to know @arewethereyet19 ... it's not the most pleasant, but equally it's nice to know that our hormones are doing their thing as they should be!

MiaMoo007 · 08/01/2019 10:12

Morning ladies! When you came off the pill and had withdrawal bleed, how did you know when to DTD? Or is a case of just "going at it" for the first month until AF arrives and can properly track ovulation?

aimingfor2019 · 08/01/2019 17:24

I got a letter saying I was due another smear test yesterday, called up today to book and was told that the next appointments is in a month. When I asked about whether I could TTC in the meantime I was told no and that I either had to cancel the smear test or hold off from trying.

Really don't want to miss a month or two of ovulation, but equally I think it'd be stupid to miss my smear. Not really sure what to do Sad

@MiaMoo007 you can usually get a rough idea of when your ovulating by your discharge. It's kinda of like egg white during ovulation.

PumpkinsMum18 · 08/01/2019 20:14

@aimingfor2019 I didnt know you couldn’t have a smear test while pregnant! If I was you, I would delay TTC a month until after the test is sorted. It’s very important for your health and I don’t think waiting one more month will make much difference to TTC in the grand scheme of things....

MiaMoo007 · 08/01/2019 20:35

@aimingfor2019 oh really? I had no idea about knowing you're ovulation based on discharge. Thanks!

(So bizarre talking about vaginal discharge to virtual strangers!! Haha)
