@pasta Before this week, I had really positive vibes about this cycle and I still do just not maybe for me lol, but I do think someone will get a bfp. Like you said before the 1 in 4 chance of it happening isnt for us ladies who are checking cm and opking and having brazil nuts, we all have more like a 70% chance 😁😁

@pasta about this cycle for us all

@Scarletrose18 ohh wait I thought you got the pregnancy tests. I want to buy the test strips for hcg. Unfortunately I don't understand how to use the ovulation test strips, and so just got a pack of plastic tests from Sainsbury's and find that easier to see if I'm ovulating. I'm definately going to use them again.

You should keep testing every day you wake up! I know I would be if I had that many tests! I don't like suspense

Blueflower22 · 28/12/2018 23:17

And also what do Brazil nuts do?

MummyBearBoo · 29/12/2018 00:48

Ok if I join? Been doing OPKs and got positive cd26 DTD that day and day after - AF due 2nd/3rd trying to resist testing til then! I'm TTC baby #2 - I'm on cycle #2 since we've been trying properly but been off bc since April! I have 1 DD and had 1 TFMR which was a boy and that was last October so hoping everything works out better this time gotta get pg first!

Cocobana · 29/12/2018 08:13

Aww @PastaSauceHoarder I feel exactly the same and can completely relate. I think we’re maybe all just noticing it more this time because we’re tracking it and because of it being the second child we’re in a rush abit more (I know I am.) When I ttc ds I was preparared for it to take at least 3-6 months as that is the average (if not even up to a year). I’d been on the pill for years and we’d had no accidents so thought it’ll take it’s time if we're lucky enough to conceive in the first place. When it happened in the first month we were so shocked and couldn’t believe it. I think because of that it’s put unrealistic expectations on conceiving dc2. We also didn’t track anything the first time and just let nature take it’s course, I didn’t have a clue when I ovulated or anything. This time around tracking everything does add pressure and then you think why isn’t it happened and it plays on your mind. As you said this is only the second cycle and even with all the measures we’re taking its only about a 30 odd percent chance or something rising alittle each month (blueflower22 sent an article I forget the exact percentages.) it doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong that we all didn’t conceive last month and may not this month, it just means that we’re with the majority of people where it takes afew months of trying; completely normal. x 😃✨✨✨

Cocobana · 29/12/2018 08:19

Welcome @MummyBearBoo how long are your cycles normally?
I’m so sorry about your TFMR that must have been horrendous x Flowers
You’re like most of us, we’re all in our TWW of second cycles and hoping for a BFP. I have ds who is almost 2 and trying for dc2.

Cocobana · 29/12/2018 08:22

@blueflower22 this is the exact explanation I found online and a lot better than I’d have put it lol:

‘Brazil nuts are an incredible source of selenium, which is a mineral that helps to thicken the uterine wall, and a healthy lining aids implantation. Selenium also works as a mild anticoagulant that can increase blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, which may also increase the chance of conceiving.’

Cocobana · 29/12/2018 08:23

Actually ladies does the latter mean we should be guzzling on brazil bits before TWW and while ttc too? Shock

Cocobana · 29/12/2018 08:33

nuts* lol

Cocobana · 29/12/2018 08:35

happening**

MummyBearBoo · 29/12/2018 09:14

@Cocobana - it was pretty horrendous especially coz of all the complications I had afterwards - I've only had 4 normal periods since these were sorted and they were 35-36 days apart to the day with ovulation around cd21-22- However this month I didn't ovulate til cd26 so I'm guessing this will almost be a 6 week cycle (this is how long my cycle was when I got pregnant the second time!)
I am in a rush coz I'm 34 in two weeks so I feel like I'm running out of time also for my first pregnancy we weren't trying as we were waiting for our IVF with PGD appointment due to a genetic condition (also due to this we only have a 50/50 chance of having a healthy baby) also the second time we weren't trying either this is my first time of trying! We're no longer entitled to PGD coz we have a healthy baby.
My DD is 3 in 3 weeks so I hope I doesn't take ages!! Fingers x for 2019 babies for everyone!!

Cocobana · 29/12/2018 11:05

@MummyBearBoo that’s awful that you had complications on top of what will have already been a really traumatic time. You poor thing, you’ve had so much to deal with. I will keep my fingers crossed that you get your BFP very soon. Your cycles are long but the only saving grace is you have a really nice length luteal phase. I can relate to your age as I am in my early thirties too and always said I wouldn’t have babies after 35 because of the added risks and I don’t want to be too old aswell. I guess we can’t plan these things how ever much we try and it’s all out of our control. So sorry you’re not entitled to PGD anymore, it’s terrible that they won’t provide it for a second child. Sending you lots of baby dust for 2019 ✨✨✨ x Flowers

MummyBearBoo · 29/12/2018 11:16

@Cocobana - thanks I thing I'm out the other end end now time helps - I don't want to be 35 either! Almost everyone I know my age family and friends have had a second baby just after my baby boy was due so it would have been perfect timing if he wasn't too poorly to proceed with the pregnancy! I don't really understand Luteal phase why is it longer isn't it just later? Sending baby dust to you too and everyone else for January!!

MummyBearBoo · 29/12/2018 11:17

Meant I think not thing

Cocobana · 29/12/2018 11:53

Aww that must be hard for you, your little boy must have been too precious for this world and they wanted him with the angels. So sorry but I’m pleased you’re beginning to come out of the other side. I can’t imagine what that has taken.
The luteal phase is the 2ww basically (the window imbetween ovulation and AF). It’s meant to be around 2 weeks depending on your cycle length but some people’s can be shorter. It can take up to 12 days for implantation so they say if the luteal phase is too short it can mean the egg may not implant in time despite whether or not conception has taken place. Longer is better. I came off the pill mid October and last cycle had a short 10/11 day luteal phase; the pill messed my cycle up I think. This cycle I’m hoping it’ll be a little longer.

Cocobana · 29/12/2018 11:54

shorter*

MummyBearBoo · 29/12/2018 12:23

I still have 2 weeks between ovulation and my AF just have 3-4 weeks from the first day of my AF til ovulation tho xx

Cocobana · 29/12/2018 12:28

That’s a long cycle. Mine was 28 days but it was 31 days after coming off the pill last cycle and I have no idea what it will be this cycle but I’m just assuming 31. x ✨👍🏼😃

Cocobana · 29/12/2018 21:47

@Scarletrose18 how are you today? I’m 5dpo tomorrow so still so early. I’ve been snacking abit today on left over Christmas stuff and feel abit guilty! I did have some of the luxury fruit and nut selection however that contains choc Brazil nuts in an attempt to lessen my guilt 🤣!

PastaSauceHoarder · 29/12/2018 23:14

Hi @Mummybearboo, welcome to the thread!
Its sounds like you've been through so much, I'm so sorry to hear about your little boy. Flowers I really hope that 2019 is a much happier year for you and your family.

That does sound like long cycle, though 2nd/3rd is not too far away now so fingers crossed! Smile🤞🏻

I'll be honest, I haven't bothered with the Brazil nuts this cycle @Cocobana (shock horror!), we've got so many snacks leftover from Christmas that I really don't fancy eating them everyday! I have however joined the club and bought twenty pregnancy test strips though which I'm strangely excited about. 😅

How did your DS get on in his big boy bed last night? Smile

@Scarletrose18 and @Blueflower22, hope you've both had a good day, any sign of AF yet? @Blueflower22, did your bleeding get heavier?

Also a little shout out to @Mfbroome - we haven't heard from you in a while, I hope you haven't lost us and you found this thread okay! 💛

MummyBearBoo · 29/12/2018 23:37

Thanks @PastaSauceHoarder - I'm same as you fell accidentally pregnant (twice) and now I'm actually trying to fall pregnant for second baby it seems so much harder!! I too am in cycle #2 for baby #2 - I was feeling positive before today - but for some reason today not so much' - determined not to test before Thursday!! Fingers x lots of BFP's in January!! Xxx

Cocobana · 30/12/2018 06:08

@PastaSauceHoarder I know what you mean in regards to the b nuts i’ve eaten three out the fruit and nut selection last night and that’s it...oops. Big boy bed hasn’t made any difference unfortunately except it makes it easier when we put him down once he’s asleep. Ds isn’t a great sleeper at the best of times but since Christmas he’s been worse. At first we thought the excitement of Christmas has unsettled him but now we feel like he’s going through some sort of development phase. He’s been refusing to go to sleep until late at night and waking up really early so he’s been in our bed a lot again.

Cocobana · 30/12/2018 06:10

How many dpo are you @pasta? I’m 5dpo today so a while to go yet but to be honest I think I need the time because I’m too sleep deprived at the moment lol
