Ahhhhh @thosethreewords that's so good!! When you planning on poas?

Sorry af got you @starkid. Hopefully drs can shed some light for you.

I could never check my cervix either. Feels like a never ending black hole 😂😂

MrsAW2018 · 02/01/2019 17:04

Thanks @cupcakesandglitter @EltzBee and @starkid we DTD yesterday and following the SMEP we'll do it again today and tomorrow and then skip a day and do it Saturday!! Then onto the TWW! 😬

I don't seem to have EWCM very often - does that mean I might not be ovulating despite positive OPKs?

KatBeCool · 02/01/2019 17:12

@MrsAW2018 many women don't get ewcm. That's one of the reasons PreSeed and Conceive Plus exist.

MrsAW2018 · 02/01/2019 17:22

@KatBeCool thanks! We use conceive plus as I don't seem to get any ewcm but panicked that it might mean I'm not ovulating, hence my post!!

MrsFraserB · 02/01/2019 17:39

I'm only 3dpo according to my app and cd19.
It says af due 13th, which feels a very long time away!
I've had a v irritating dull headache for the past two days... Have read caffeine should be avoided as well as Ibuprofen. Are you ladies avoiding these? This is going to be tough. Already off drink and given up smoking. 2019 is feeling very different to 2018 and im not even pregnant yet! Naturally Ive convinced myself the headache is an early pregnancy sign! Its probably due to sleep deprivation as I decided to not take sleeping pills I usually would... Now im wondering if I am supposed to have stopped taking antidepressants also!
Anyway the headache is really putting me off dtd tonight, I'm just not sure about the ibuprofen! I had v bad cystitis yesterday and did take it before reading it's another thing to give up!
Just felt like a rant, sorry!

Happy New Year everyone x

AnnaMC214 · 02/01/2019 18:41

@stormtrooperjulian no unfortunately no chance for a conjugal visit 😂 He left this morning and I'm already hating being on my own!

@MrsFraserB I'm not taking ibuprofen as I read that NSAIDs can prevent implantation but I am in no way an expert on this!

I'm still waiting for my OPKs to turn up from Amazon. I was hoping to start testing from cd8 as my last two cycles have been quite short at 27 days. Cd6 today so they'd better hurry up!

I see that many of you are temping. Should I be doing that too do you think?

KatBeCool · 02/01/2019 19:33

@MrsFraserB you can have some caffeine but need to make sure you don't get dehydrated. But ibuprofen should be avoided in the TWW and altogether in the pregnancy. Acetaminophen helps me sometimes, try that.

@AnnaMC214 temping is helpful as it takes the guesswork away about whether you ovulated or not.

Babytrain89 · 02/01/2019 19:50

@MrsFraserB Well done on the quitting smoking. I also have and have gained a stone in the process....so now onto eating healthier. I didn't know about the ibuprofen during conception, so thanks for asking!
I've bought some peppermint tea today to try and reduce caffeine intake.

My OH said to me tonight that he can't wait to have a baby....then went on to say how he's worried if our eggs and sperm aren't compatible - who knew men worried too eh!? It would just be nice to know that everything will work eventually!

How is everyone today? @cupcakesandglitter has AF calmed down a bit today? Hope you are feeling better!

Jessikka · 02/01/2019 21:09

Please can you pop some links to your thermometers please - May grab one ready for next month!

Thanks :)

starkid · 02/01/2019 22:02

Ah man I didn't know about the Ibuprofen thing, I take them all the time Confused guessing paracetamol is ok though?

MrsEG · 02/01/2019 22:08

@starkid I have been told to avoid painkillers unless really needed, but paracetamol in small doses would be fine. Touch wood, no headaches or pains so far though! Ibuprofen as mentioned above is best avoided completely.

Hope everyone is doing great, and surviving the dreaded post-Christmas return to work!!

EltzBee · 02/01/2019 22:24

Evening ladies. Survived my 30th bday! A few alcoholic gifts which will have to go in the cupboard til the end of the year lol!

For those asking about timings for temps; the app knows your usual time window, but I wake up different times and still found it very beneficial and helpful. Ie. Half the week I wake up two hours earlier due to travelling to office! But can still spot the trend. Hope this helps.

Also I didn't avoid caffiene whilst ttc but haven't touched ibuprofen since June. It affects your blood and can prevent ovulation as well as a no go once you are preg. Paracetamol fine if you need it.

Got awful skin atm again and can't even use spot treatment as they contain things bad during any stage of preg.

cupcakesandglitter · 03/01/2019 01:28

@MrsR16 that's why I want one 😳 I know I don't move as much as I should!! X

@MrsAW2018 not everyone gets EWCM - I've got it in two cycles in over half a year, it's not uncommon. Try and drink more water, hydration helps apparently xx

Thanks @Babytrain89 I've been okay - AF is still as bad. Heavier than I've been in years, cramps have died down a little BUT my boobs are still soooo sore and massively veiny. Super annoying but I'm just trying to relax about it all - using AF as an excuse to eat all of the shit food 😂 xx

Ahh @EltzBee sorry it's late but happy birthday!! At least you'll have plenty of alcohol to have eventually ;) xx

cupcakesandglitter · 03/01/2019 01:34

@Jessikka this is the one I have - I've got two, and both work fantastically https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0026RLTVY/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_8ywlCbZ43WVCV

MrsLBear · 03/01/2019 04:50

Happy belated 30th @EltzBee!!! Hope you had a lovely day!!

Wow @MrsAW2018 sounds like you've done all you could this cycle!! Fx crossed for you!! I didn't always get ewcm and if I did it seemed at the wrong time or too early. So I used preseed this cycle and then got my BFP. So naturally I think it helped but scientifically it makes sense as it mimics ewcm! Not the most romantic thing having to baste yourself before DTD. And I'm certain the time we actually would have conceived I put it in like 4 hours before (I thought we would DTD and we didn't till later) and cos I put it so high not much really came out. I did lay vertically for 4 hours though pretending I needed a rest 😂 honestly the TTC journey is NOT glamorous by any stretch!

I also didn't know that about ibuprofen!! I popped them like sweets when af was visiting cos I always suffer so so badly. Must admit I didn't take them any other times though only paracetamol for my hangovers.

KatBeCool · 03/01/2019 05:57

@MrsLBear you can take ibuprofen during AF, just not during the fertile week or the tww. It can affect ewcm or implantation by making it too dry "up in there".

GemmaJen · 03/01/2019 06:36

Urgh I'm super stressed this tww, trying everything I can think of to chill out. I feel like this isn't the month but everytime I get a positive sign I literally can't stop thinking about it! I feel like I'm losing the plot. My temps are looking good at 7dpo, just going up, I'm trying so hard not to get my hopes up, but my brain just won't turn off. Someone talk some sense in to me!Confused

MrsEG · 03/01/2019 07:31

@GemmaJen Oh hun! Try and stay relaxed and positive if you can. I know it may not be related at all, but my last cycle was the first where I ensure I relaxed and stayed calm (I used to get so, so anxious, would have full blown crying fits, the works!) and to be honest it was just exhausting and everyone knows stress can also cause absolute havoc within the body. So I just decided in the 2WW, you know what, I’ve done everything I can - nothing I do now will change the outcome and stayed positive, refused to symptom spot and dwell. I used Headspace most days, walked the dog an awful lot more to get out and clear my head, and just kept myself busy. And it was the month of my BFP. Could be complete coincidence but I fully recommend the relax approach to anyone now!!

thosethreewords · 03/01/2019 07:39

I've had the worst headache since last night so had to resort to ibuprofen when the paracetamol didn't work... for me, I would rather take it and not want to shove my head in the freezer going crazy with this ice pick hacking away at my head!
10DPO today and decided to hold off testing a few more days 1) because of @GemmaJen link in another thread on chance of getting positives and 2) I don't think I could handle either outcome right now. I just want to curl up 😩

@GemmaJen the TWW has sent me slightly mad too. I never forget to temp because as soon as I wake up, it's the first thing on my mind. I really wish I could be more chilled out about it, but I've just accepted I can't be. So if decide to randomly symptom spot, I allow myself a minute or two to ponder and then try and move on to doing something else. Luckily I've been really busy anyway so finding something else to do has not been an issue!

starkid · 03/01/2019 10:47

@EltzBee - happy belated birthday! Interesting about Ibuprofen possibly affecting ovulation too, I pop them all the time Shock best stock up on paracetamol instead I think. Glad to hear you're doing well :)
@MrsLBear - Interesting it was the preseed month that you conceived, I've heard that a lot actually. I use it and you're right, it's so unromantic haha

AnnaMC214 · 03/01/2019 12:30

Does anyone else get overwhelmed by all of the things we are/could be doing in order to make this happen?!

I don't think my dh and I have actually managed to even time dtd right yet! We might give smep a go next month when he's home again. And if that doesn't work start to look at what other changes we can make.

Sorry, feeling despondent today and the months just seem to add up so quickly even though each tww seems to take an age!

@GemmaJen I so know what you're going through! I don't have anything to add to what the others have said about trying to distract yourself but know you are not alone.

thosethreewords · 03/01/2019 12:43

@AnnaMC214 I know what you mean. For me this is cycle 1 of trying but it's hard to keep up with "don't take this and that and do this and do that". I've decided to TRY and be kind to myself the first few cycles while I'm getting to grips with everything.

In terms of some of the things not doing:
I'm doing dry jan anyway but got a few weddings coming up in the next few months so would drink while TTC if it was before a BFP even.
Not completely cutting caffeine because I love tea. I'm on decaf but it's still caffeinated and I take that for a heart condition.
I just take a pregnacare supplement currently and not lots of extras because I can barely remember to take these and my heart medications never mind lots of other vitamins 😂

MrsEG · 03/01/2019 13:05

@thosethreewords Please don’t fret too much. As long as you’re taking your conception Pregnacare you’re doing well! I drank in the 2WW before my BFP (not loads, but i had my works do etc) and the GP wasn’t worried one bit. You only need to go cold turkey once you get those two pink lines! Be kind to yourself; there’s so much info out there it can really be overwhelming at times.

AnnaMC214 · 03/01/2019 13:46

Thank you for your reply @thosethreewords. I started off thinking we would just stop trying to not get pregnant but it didn't take long for me to realise that we don't really dtd regularly enough for that and now we're on cycle 5!

I'm not taking any supplements. Is that one a no-brainer then and I should get some pronto?

thosethreewords · 03/01/2019 14:15

@AnnaMC214 I would get some yes either pregnacare or pregnacare conception. They have the vitamins you need from the get go. I've got the standard ones but I could use the conception ones I suppose!

Also why did I do this to myself. Took a FRER and it was negative 😩😩 10 DPO so I know full well that it could be a negative because it's too early. Sigh. Waste of money!
