@MrsFraserB Congrats on quitting smoking! I quit caffeine a couple of months ago. I was taking an NSAID (not ibuprofen) for back pain but then I read that it can prevent ovulation so I stopped and now I just put up with the pain. Slightly worried about the preventing ovulation thing though, I don’t know how I’d know if it had that effect on me or not? Maybe I just wasted my first 3 cycles?

@EltzBee happy belated birthday!

@GemmaJen try to relax, maybe plan a nice date night or something with your DH to take your mind off it for a while

@AnnaMC241 have you been tracking ovulation or anything? How often do you dtd? Apparently every 2-3 days is ideal according to NHS. I take so many supplements I’m surprised I don’t rattle when I walk, but you should at least be taking folic acid

AnnaMC214 · 03/01/2019 14:50

Right, off to Boots I pop then! They have a 3 for 2 offer on at the mo in case anyone else needs to stock up. It'll help me feel like I'm doing something constructive as well. Especially while my dh isn't here.

@stormtrooperjulian I'm going to start with opks this month to try and time it better. My dh has a relatively low sex drive which was still higher than mine when I had the coil in but not very helpful for ttc! We probably average about once a week so not nearly enough!

@thosethreewords I'm sorry about the negative test. It's far too early for it to mean anything like you say but I know it's hard not to get a poas addiction!

Crossfitgirl · 03/01/2019 16:37

Just checking in, hope you're all getting on OK! Sorry I just can't keep up with the thread now. The nausea and exhaustion is real. Phone screens do not help! Oh ladies, enjoy all the DTD, drinking, over the counter medicine, hot baths, spa days and whatever else you can cram in. Take your flipping ibuprofen and don't stress about avoiding things until you get your BFP. Seriously. Not only are you not allowed to eat or do basically anything, but you won't bloody feel like it either once symptoms kick in!

I'm still keeping a little eye on you girls though and can't wait to see the next BFP!
For whoever asked, here's the thermometer I used:

iSnow-Med 1/100th Degree Basal Thermometer, Measure BBT within 60 s, ±0.09F accuracy, C/F switchable, Storage Box and Ovulation Chart available www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076YY5LYC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_vOJlCbCBPMZY0?tag=mumsnetforum-21

KatBeCool · 03/01/2019 17:56

@thosethreewords don't test early! Wait until you're late, saves money and disappointment. I'm also not cutting tea, that's just not happening. I don't think you have to cut caffeine entirely and tea is fine. I don't drink coffee anyway so tea is all I have.

@Crossfitgirl so nice to hear from you! Hopefully the sickness will go away soon.

@AnnaMC214 ohh there's so much to keep track of while ttc that it reaches the point of "f* it, need to take a break" and seems like that's when you get pregnant lol.

@GemmaJen keep reminding yourself that you're doing everything you can to get pregnant. Don't try to control what can't be controlled and then be upset at yourself for it. Stay healthy, take your vitamins, exercise, and be nice to yourself. Hugs.

MrsLBear · 03/01/2019 18:09

@thosethreewords I had a stark bfn 9dpo so don't give up hope yet!! I waited till the day af was due (or the day before depends on my LT phase). Fx for you!!!!

Keyboard91 · 03/01/2019 19:10

Hi all, sorry I’ve not been around. Just haven’t felt perky, especially as I’m back to work tomorrow (teacher) and I really don’t want to. My DP is still excited but I wish he’d flipping shut up sometimes. Like sometimes it’s all I want to talk about and I’m hopeful etc. Other times I don’t even want to think about t2c and him still talking about it just annoys me!

And then! We were consistently dtd every other day (off work = more energy for me) so I was feeling hopeful. And then he gets a cold (and of course the world has to stop) and then he said no today and it’s the first day of my fertile window according to Ovia which has annoyed me too! So we will have to wait until after work tomorrow (when I’ll be shattered) and tomorrow is 3 days since dtd. Argh!

I’m having more cramps this month (CD12) too and I don’t understand why. It’s central. Don’t think I’ve ovulated yet. My last AF was a bit strange. Everything is just STRANGE.

I’m sure this is just hormones and back to work anxiety. But boy I’m not pleasant to be around at the moment.

Sorry to rant but if anyone understands it’s you ladies. Only my DP knows we are TTC so no one to talk to about all this.

Jessikka · 03/01/2019 19:28

Sorry you're having a bad day @Keyboard91 :(

If it helps make you smile... your OH cant be as bad as mine today...

I'm (possibly) 2/3dpo and today my right boob looks slightly larger/fuller than the other, making it appear slightly lower and asymmetrical. In my absolute fear and insecurity I ran to him and asked him to confirm my fears.

After saying "oh god yeah that one looks lower" he cupped them both and whispered at the right boob.... "please go back up"

Please go back up?? PLEASE GO BACK UP? Bloody BACK UP??!!!???

As if the moment wasn't bad enough I'm now sat here paranoid that my boobs are wonky and weirdly sagging and he wants them to go BACK UP!
Bloody boys.

Aaaagh I wanted to hit him lol

TrashKitten10 · 03/01/2019 19:33

@Keyboard91

I'm also a teacher so I totally get the back to work anxiety and bone aching tiredness. We just went back today and after initially worrying I'd completely forgotten how to teach, I had a great day and it was really lovely to see all their lovely faces and get back into routine. I'm sure your first day back will go just as smoothly :) How frustrating about DP being unwell just as your fertile period kicks in. Is there any chance of dtd tomorrow morning before work? Then if all you want to do after work is put your feet up you're all covered.

Keyboard91 · 03/01/2019 19:53

@Jessikka if my partner did that he would be in the dog shed!!! How rude!!!!!

Thanks @TrashKitten10 it’s an inset day tomorrow so meeting after meeting .... until 5pm! I’ll be less anxious Sunday night as I know the day is in my control ... whereas this really is not! My DP works in a supermarket and is at work until midnight so I doubt I’ll rouse him before I have to leave tomorrow. We shall see what happens. I wasn’t going to opk but I’m tempted to do one tonight and tomorrow morning just to gain some idea as to whether Prediction is correct.

Jessikka · 03/01/2019 19:56

@Keyboard91 it's ok, i know his humour and that he meant it in jest.

It just caught me off guard!

AnnaMC214 · 03/01/2019 20:20

@keyboard91 I'm sorry you're having a tough time right now. No matter how understanding ones oh is I think they can struggle to grasp how important the timing is as they're not the one tracking everything all the time! I haven't told anyone else we're ttc either so venting on here has been a huge help Smile

19Bee2 · 03/01/2019 21:32

Evening all,

@TrashKitten10 @Keyboard91 I am also a teacher and feel your pain. Our fertile week starts next week, just as I go back, and I know how difficult that first week can be. I hope it goes well for you both!

Do people here tend to share details of fertile weeks with partners? I'm not one for seduction techniques and it will be painfully obvious that we are dtd more often due to ttc so I'm thinking of just sharing my FF calendar with my husband so he's aware and sharing the responsibility of initiating.

cupcakesandglitter · 03/01/2019 21:48

Ladies can I ask you if any of you have this? I'm CD3 and AF looks like it's finishing after two really heavy days. My boobs are still stupidly sore and also every day I'm seeing more and more veins pop up on them... this isn't normal for me at all, but is this normal for anyone else during AF? X

Syncope · 03/01/2019 22:20

Hello all, hope everyone is doing OK.

@cupcakesandglitter it wouldn't be normal for me during AF but that said, I've had the occasional weird AF in the past that has been completely out of the ordinary for me in terms of length/heaviness/symptoms. Hope you're OK.

@19Bee2 I've mentioned it to DH previously but have been trying to keep it fairly lighthearted!

Does anyone use the Clearblue digital ovulation tests? I've been using them for the first time this cycle. Got the 'high' on CD 15 (normally a 32 day cycle) but still waiting for the 'peak' now on day 19! So not sure if I've ovulated or not... Confused

FlapJackered · 03/01/2019 22:28

@cupcakesandglitter I am the same with af, I am just spotting with dark brown now on cd3. I am not sure if it's normal or not. I was on the pill for 12 years so just used to the 7 pill free days being quite heavy so it was such a surprise to only have two days of normal flow. I was worried and asked the doc and she didn't seem concerned at all.
I don't get the veiny boobs though.

FlapJackered · 03/01/2019 22:32

@Syncope I use them and once had 14 days of high before I got my peak, almost lost the will to live and swore I wouldn't use them again (then used them next cycle 😂) I think it is due to your oestrogen rising before your luteinising hormone. Normally they rise at a similar time but sometimes not hence the ongoing flashing smiley.
I think it can also be when your body gears up to ovulate but then it delays for some reason. This happened to me one cycle when i was super stressed and I ended up ovulating really late in the cycle.

FlapJackered · 03/01/2019 22:36

First day of taking the Soy Isoflavones today, feel a bit like I am jumping off a ledge in the dark. Really hoping they don't mess up my cycle 😬🤞🏻.
I had a low moment this morning with DH as I realised I only have two more cycles before we hit a year of ttc, and he was going to be away for predicted OV day this cycle...he is now not going away and is taking the day off work 😂

MrsR16 · 03/01/2019 22:38

@Jessikka I'm sorry, that made me absolutely die laughing!! Men do have such a way with words, don't they?

@Keyboard91 if it makes you feel any better, I haven't managed to DTD with my DH yet this whole cycle! I'm on CD12... yay for being ill and then AF taking forever to bugger off(!) haha! You're in a better place than me hun. Chin up!

@cupcakesandglitter I am the worst person to ask about "normal" at the moment! I'm still spotting and have absolutely no idea what my body is doing at the moment! I think we all go out of whack occasionally. I'd just keep an eye on it Hun xx

cupcakesandglitter · 03/01/2019 22:41

Thanks @MrsR16 @Syncope maybe it's just a weird cycle - will keep an eye on it though, my boobs look like roadmaps!!! X

@FlapJackered what the hell is going on with us?! 😂 yeah I don't think doctors really think anything is massive issue which is annoying, I feel like I'm bugging them every time I mention something 😩 x

AngeloMysterioso · 03/01/2019 23:01

Angelo signing in for another cycle! I'm a bit confused atm... I'm on CD10, DH and I just DTD for the first time this cycle (we've been like ships passing in the night since AF finished) at the weekend). Now according to my Clue app my FW should kick off on Saturday, but I noticed last night that I had EWCM. I did an OPK strip about an hour ago and it looks faintly positive, but does this all mean we should've started sooner this month? I've never used OPKs before so haven't really got a clue what they're all about!

KatBeCool · 03/01/2019 23:36

@Jessikka I laughed so loud I think people heard me outside, I had tears in my eyes. Next time ask him if your boobs look normal instead of putting ideas in his head. I keep picturing him talking to your boob. Of course he did it to cheer you up. Let's say it may or may not happened when DH "spoke into" my vagina to tell his sperms to meet the egg.

@cupcakesandglitter duration isn't as important as volume. There is no standard, but there are many things that are abnormal and nothing you mention strikes as that.

@FlapJackered I would be so paranoid. I bought some fertility tea this cycle, started drinking it when ewcm showed up and three days later ewcm was gone. I stopped drinking that tea so quickly. Ewcm came back but I ovulated a couple of days later if you remember me complaining. Hopefully the isoflavones do wonders for you.

@Syncope I used to use them but seeing as my surge always happened towards the evening, it became rather expensive to test several times a day and if you don't use it for 48 hours, it resets. I find the internet cheapies and temping more helpful.

thosethreewords · 04/01/2019 00:50

@KatBeCool @MrsLBear thanks lovelies. I needed to hear that!! I will keep positive and in the meantime I'm trying to also focus on the fact I wanted to give myself this year before I worried about it. Buuuut obviously that didn't happen. For work it would be slightly more ideal if I got pregnant before 2020 but I'd make it work if it took longer. So I need to chill out.
This is month one. Imagine what I'm going to be like subsequently!!!

@Keyboard91 yes back to work yesterday was a blow for me too - I was so tired and got a migraine afterwards 😩
I'm the same as you - I want to talk about it with DH all the time and not at all at the same time. He keeps saying "imagine if you're pregnant!" And I know he's excited but it just feels like a lot of pressure.
I know what you mean about getting frustrated when DH turns you down. DH rarely turns down sex because he has a higher sex drive than me (on contraception) but since I stopped and it's returned to normal, he's said no twice!
We are here for you to rant to. So rant away. I know I do my fair share of it. Hope tomorrow isn't too busy for you xxx

MrsLBear · 04/01/2019 04:36

@Keyboard91 I had the same I felt the pressure DTD every other day or rather making sure that we did. Do you temp? Don't worry about not DTD for 3 days especially at the beginning of your fw. Have you ever used cb digital OPKs? I found them really useful to actually pin point the crucial days as my apps were so out when I didn't do either of those.
Don't worry about the rant we all have to have them when TTC as it takes it's toll physically and emotionally.
I work long days too and I just resigned to the fact we won't DTD on those days as I didn't want to make it a robotic exercise. You're allowed to be tired and fed up.

Just saw a post you said about OPKs. I was anti them in a way as I didn't want to try to hard but out of a 35 day average cycle to try DTD near o day was proving challenging without so I caved.

GemmaJen · 04/01/2019 07:16

@MrsEG I've been trying meditation and aromatherapy but I really struggle to control my thoughts, they just run away with me. I'll look into Headspace, how do you find it? Do you subscribe?

@thosethreewords I tried just giving myself little moments yesterday following your advice, to look on here or check my app. This worked well until lunch time and then it just snowballed from there. I ended up poas, yes at 7dpo because I'm a crazy woman! You'd think after last month's CP I'd learn. Anyway it was just an insensitive really cheap ic strip, but seeing the expanse of white teststrip did help calm me down. I can't make time for faster, I just need to be patient.

Thank you @AnnaMC214, it's good to chat to you all, I try and talk to my Dh, while he's excited to have a baby he doesn't understand my impatience to know what's happening. I'm all for knowing AF is coming but the uncertainty screws up my brain. He thinks it just peachy to wait till next week to test.

GemmaJen · 04/01/2019 07:20

@stormtrooperjulian we're planning on going out to see friendstomorrow, I'm hoping it helps.

Thank you @KatBeCool, it's so hard to put things in perspective sometimes. I'm a planner and perfectionist and so impatient, not a good combo for this ttc malarkey.
