We’re almost at the limit on thread no.8 so I thought I’d start a new one before that one fills up

Good news with the almost + OPK @EltzBee ! Xx

@purplefig I cut out drinking to try and be a little healthier BUT I realised it was making me more stressed cutting everything out... and now we have proof a drink won't hurt... 🥂

I've just got back from my doctors appointment - scan was completely normal, I don't have any sign of PCOS whatsoever. I didn't think to ask about what phase I'm in etc because I actually don't want to know, I'm enjoying being chilled out. Doc reckons it's just my weight that's causing irregular periods, so I'm going to focus on dropping as much as I can! X

purplefig · 11/12/2018 12:31

*@cupcakesandglitter * Great news you don't have PCOS! I didn't realise weight was linked to irregular periods. Are you going to start in the New Year?

I'm with you. I'm not going to make my life entirely revolve around TTC because I think it's a recipe for insanity (having been there just last month bahaha).

EltzBee · 11/12/2018 12:32

@cupcakesandglitter @purplefig thanks, will take a look at that article, it sounds interestinng! :)

I'm doing 'Slimming World' too and telling myself I shouldn't drink to protect my fertility is a good way of helping myself avoid those extra alcohol calories! lol.

Did an OPK at lunch and lighter than yesterdays but still a 2nd line so think the peak is on its way out - will do another one this evening (I buy them in bulk on Amazon so don't have to worry about spending too much on them). I think my peak positive one would probably have been overnight - but good to see my body is 'doing its thing' :)

Feeling much more chilled out this month - if it doesn't happen, there's always next month. Knowing that my bloods came back fine with no sign of thyroid issue or PCOS was a big relief. Now I know my cycles are probably just a bit varying because they can be because mother nature can be a bitch and mess with our minds Wink

EltzBee · 11/12/2018 12:35

@cupcakesandglitter my Doctor gave me a referral to 'Slimming World', the county council funds a 12 week course of it here which is helpful. Lost 4lbs in my first week, and got week 2 weigh in tomorrow night....fingers crossed. I've always struggled with my weight, but after stopping the pill I put on 2 stone which my GP thinks is down to my hormones, so kicking it in to shape with Food Optimising. It will hopefully have the benefit of helping to improve my cycles and fertility, too - losing weight is meant to help, even a small amount, for some reason!

purplefig · 11/12/2018 12:36

*@EltzBee * ahh that's fair enough, sadly red wine is quite calorific! I totally agree with you with OPKs, I found them so reassuring last month. Did yours fade in and out? It was so cool to see! I could also feel what I think was ovulation and the change in CM matched up. So it was very reassuring...even though it was not my cycle! Glad you're feeling chilled out this cycle. Here's to a chilled out festive month!

cupcakesandglitter · 11/12/2018 12:37

@purplefig apparently so! And actually thinking about it, my periods never used to be irregular when I was slim... since I've put weight on they've varied. In saying that, they were regular again until the month we starting TTC... who knows 😂 i agree, I've spent the last few cycles obsessing and crying my heart out 24/7 and feeling shit. Not this month 🙅🏻‍♀️ it's going to happen for us all when it's supposed to, we'll all get our BFPs eventually, no point being miserable until then!!

@EltzBee oh fab! I think DH is going to join slimming world too! It is brilliant, well done for having the self control 😊 your surge was probably overnight.. and I agree. She's a massive bitch 😂

purplefig · 11/12/2018 12:40

@cupcakesandglitter LOVE the attitude! I'm currently 3lbs overweight and I really should shift it but I just cannot be arsed. I hardly doubt it will make a jot of difference and it's red wine and mince pie season, dammit!

cupcakesandglitter · 11/12/2018 12:41

Ah okay thanks @EltzBee I've definitely considered doing it - loads of our family have and have lost shitloads! I'm the opposite, the implant made me put on an insane amount of weight 😩 I don't think my issue is food- I think I'm just not active enough. I eat a lot of fruit and veg etc but I travel a lot for work so I'm constantly driving... which then leaves me quite tired after. But!! I've rejoined the gym as my membership ran out a couple of weeks ago, so I'm gonna go tonight, bust my ass doing as much as I can - if it doesn't work then I'll go back to the GP, but I want to prove to myself I can do it first x

MrsR16 · 11/12/2018 12:42

@EltzBee yay for positive! You're doing better with bd-ing than I am for sure this month!

@cupcakesandglitter great news about your doc visit! Xx

@purplefig I like the way you think - chilled out festive month!! Red wine is the way forward (and is also my weakness)

cupcakesandglitter · 11/12/2018 12:43

@purplefig Christmas doesn't count 😂 its too hard to be completely healthy I think!! I have about two stones I need to lose so I can't be blase about it... I'm just fat 😂

purplefig · 11/12/2018 12:45

@MrsR16 hahahaa me too. Bottoms up! Bahaha sorry for being inappropriate on a TTC thread Blush

@cupcakesandglitter if you can find an activity you like doing at the gym (so that it doesn't seem like work) that might help?

EltzBee · 11/12/2018 12:48

@cupcakesandglitter I really can't remember what my cycles were like pre-pill (on it for 15 years!) - I know they were heavy and painful which is why i went on the pill.

Oh I totally reckon Mother Nature messes with us when we start trying to conceive! I did wonder in part, whether the fluctuation could be because the swimmers and the egg are trying to 'do their thing' and maybe she knows it hasn't worked so things come early, or things sort of work then go wrong and it makes it a few days late. I'm sure someone posted about the statistics of not only getting an egg fertilised, but then that egg actually implanting successfully. Maybe she's trying to help sometimes....!

@cupcakesandglitter good luck to DH :) my group is mostly women, I've only seen one chap there so far - I do feel sorry for them when the ladies mention its time of the month and they're bloating/holding water, bless them.

@purplefig ah enjoy the mince pies and red wine! I'm quite lucky in not liking dried fruit so resisting mince pies and Xmas cakes is simple, LOL!

KatBeCool · 11/12/2018 12:53

@FlapJackered my AMH was 3.81 and FSH was 4.1 in the follicular stage.

@cupcakesandglitter great news on not having pcos! Good luck with the weight loss, you can do it. Honestly, the hardest part is finding what works for you. I could never significantly cut carbs so that diet was a doom for me. I may or may not have sugar addiction.

cupcakesandglitter · 11/12/2018 12:55

@purplefig bottoms up is the best way!! (Although not so practical afterwards 😂) oh I'm going to share some way too much TMI now 😂 so I went ahead with my plan last night and it worked a treat... DH finished first, I then awkwardly rolled over (see impractical note above 😂 - notes to self to never do doggy and then try and roll over holding it all in) ANYWAY. I then finished too, but as I did it actually pushed some of DH out 😅 so not too sure if the theory is right about it helping swimmers up. Felt bloody fantastic either way 🤷🏻‍♀️

@EltzBee oh god I agree! TBH I guess even though it's shitty, I think short cycles are kind of a positive if we think we don't have to wait as long for the next cycle? I don't know 😂

MrsR16 · 11/12/2018 12:56

@purplefig ah, I think we all enjoy a drink every now and then! 😂 I reckon anything goes on this thread - we all know what it's like!

cupcakesandglitter · 11/12/2018 12:56

Thanks @KatBeCool I've slowly tried to cut out carbs.. I don't really eat much bread or rice anymore if I can help it. Can't say the same about potatoes but you can't have it all 😂 sugar is incredible though 😍 surprising how much stuff which is labelled as healthy contains a shitload of it though!! X

purplefig · 11/12/2018 13:04

@cupcakesandglitter have you ever done 5:2? It's a strange one and definitely not suited to certain people, but I found it surprisingly easy to adhere too most of the time. Really should do another few months of it tbh. tucks into mince pie

@MrsR16 yeah, I think you're right! Xmas Grin Gin

cupcakesandglitter · 11/12/2018 13:08

@purplefig what the bloody hell is that 😂😂😂😂 (I'm no dieter, can you tell?) 😂 I will join you on a mince pie though!

KatBeCool · 11/12/2018 13:09

@cupcakesandglitter the thing is, sugar surrounds us even in nature more than anything, think fruits, berries, and even many vegetables. I think we were bound to have it in our diets so it's silly to attempt avoiding it entirely and I've known many people who did and they were so grumpy and cranky during their diets, it can't be healthy. It's gotta be a nature's way of telling us that we need it. Having a controlled amount might be the easier way to go I personally think, because if you try to eat none and then get off the diet, you'd be shocking your body and gaining all that weight right back.

KatBeCool · 11/12/2018 13:10

@purplefig I've heard of 5:2, it's so much easier for people, especially during the 2 😂

purplefig · 11/12/2018 13:16

@cupcakesandglitter basically you eat normally (but sensibly i..e don't overdo it) for 5 days of the week, then for 2 days you 'fast' (though it's not technically a fast as you eat 500 cals).

There is a section on mumsnet about it: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/fasting_diet and I really recommend the BBC documentary on it www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01lxyzc

I did not for one minute think this would work for me, but I found it pretty easy to stick to and did lose about 1/2 a stone with relative ease. Just need the motivation to lose the final 3 lbs now lol. As I say, you may well hate it, but could be worth looking into.

purplefig · 11/12/2018 13:21

@KatBeCool actually it's only 2 days of "dieting" and 5 days of eating normally (but sensibly). Which makes it pretty doable. But definitely not suited to everyone e.g. people with disordered eating habits.

DayDreamer1707 · 11/12/2018 13:34

I have read that the KETO diet is actually really helpful for both weight loss and fertility but not sure how true this is. Depends how much you like carbs though

As you know AF made her visit on Monday...well this is my second day and i've not bleed enough to fill even one tampon (sorry TMI) Do you think that this is because it's only my 2nd proper AF since my MC. I do normally only have very light periods anyway??

KatBeCool · 11/12/2018 13:41

@purplefig ahh, I have heard of it the other way around as well. Five days of dieting and two days of eating everything in sight. Your way wouldn't work for me lol. My body thinks that hunger, if not tended to within an hour, needs to be accompanied by a horrible migraine, so only 500 calories would kill me.

MrsEG · 11/12/2018 13:44

Hey @DayDreamer1707 - my first period post-MC was a bit funny. Very heavy day 1, much heavier than normal, then essentially spotting for 2 days. I couldn’t even get a tampon in and had to use pads. Hope that eases your mind a little!
