@Helbelle75....welcome and sorry to hear of your mc. I had 2 then conceived DS at 40 and had him 3 months off 41. Ttc no. 2 is harder.
@gizmojo...welcome..your story is similar to mine although you were 42 and i was 41. I'm 46 now and admit haven't tried hard enough for dc2. We're just taking it as it comes and seeing what happens.
Good luck xx

@minime2017... sorry to hear you're feeling low. Yes def have tests now. It is so hard and you're not a Debbie Downer. This is the place to come to vent and get a whole raft of support.
Good luck xx

@Scarletrose18...Wow! Thanks so much for posting this. This is what the gp's don't seem to like advocating. They just go with their medical knowledge and don't like getting hopes up! But I think a lot of what is said here is very often the case. For e.g.. I had no fertility treatment, had 2 mcs then conceived at 40. I wasn't even taking folic and had a v low abnormality score. You could say I was lucky but I had a healthy bmi back then. ..creeping up now and I can't conceive dc2 for love nor money!!

Hi all

Checking in

So had bloods taken and will get results next week

This month is the first month in ages that dh will be around during fertile week so am going to make the most of it!!!

Good luck everyone

Cleozeta · 26/11/2018 19:48

Thanks scarletrose! Love that

Hmmm what tests have you had?
I had blood tests today too, but for the miscarriages, gp wanted to do general blood tests for thyriod etc

hmmm123 · 26/11/2018 20:59

Just progesterone

Hopefully will give me an indication whether we should try harder or give up!!

Orchid222 · 26/11/2018 22:39

I just got my thyroid results today. All fine as I expected- I generally look good on paper just don't seem to be able to get pregnant:(
I went to H&B today to get vit D spray and got 3000 instead of 1000! I'll have to exchange tomorrow since I'm thinking 3000 might be too much.
Russ how are you doing? When are your scans and when are you going home?
Let's have you started your ivf cycle?
My down regulation scan is this week and then we go from there...

Thanks for the info graphic Scarlet! I loved reading it so much. Gives me hope for sure.

Cleo I see what you’re saying about your progesterone levels they do seem a bit low. But blood tests are always just a snapshot. Are you having it done again this time? I’ve been reading up a bit more on progesterone....are you stressed on a day to day basis? There’s this thing called ‘pregnenolone steal’ where stress literally ‘steals’ from your progesterone reserves to make more cortisol (the stress hormone) to attempt to counteract the stress. That’s definitely me! Am trying hard to relax more.....

Anyone else wonder about stress and its effects?

Rose I’m not sure the difference between Vit D and D3.... isn’t it the same thing??

barnburntdown · 27/11/2018 00:20

Hello all ! Newbie here.
Congrats to the lady with the bfp.

Sorry to hear about the struggles of others.
I am lucky enough to already have two dc already from a former relationship. I've been with my new DP(younger) for 18 months - he lives with us and is desperately broody...aaaaaand i never thought I'd see the day I would go for a third but here I am..

Did SMEP this cycle- unsuccessful but keen to raise the game. I'd never considered vitamin D spray- will have a look. Was also going to look into preseed.

It's nice to see other ladies here of a similar age group.

I do have one very embarrassing issue. In my twenties I caught HPV from an ex - I have not had any genital warts for 15 years ! Then I noticed just after my fertility window I have an outbreak. I'm going to have to get cyrotherapy as we cannot dtd whilst they are still present . Has anyone had experience of this ? I'm so embarrassed and between that and having raging AF am having lots of negative thoughts it won't happen for a long time. Someone reassure me please 😳😳

ckc45d10 · 27/11/2018 00:22

Ubiquinol is the reduced, active form of CoQ10. One thing to note is that a water and fat-soluble form absorbs better. For vitamin D, this is also better absorbed with other nutrients like vitamin K and magnesium.

Presh12345 · 27/11/2018 07:04

New thread 👏🏻👏🏻 I've been on Gonal F for 5 days. Went for scan on Sunday and they were still quite small at 7.5 ish each. Dose of injections upped to 150iu until Thursday when I have another scan. I really want this to work. I keep imagining flying home at Christmas and being able to tell my parents that we finally got there!!

CookieWaffle · 27/11/2018 07:50

Hi ladies, sorry I've been gone a while, trying to chill out a bit and focus on house moves and stuff. I hope everyone is doing ok, seems I've missed quite a bit!

So it looks like this time around it's real, I got my BFP at the weekend and it's getting stronger. No CP in sight this time so I think it's finally happening. Having my very first when I'm 41 was never what I planned for my life but so happy it's finally happening!

Orchid222 · 27/11/2018 08:02

Oh brilliant news Cookie, congrats! Fingers crossed for easy 36 weeks x

Great news cookie!! Congrats!!! Keep us updated!

minime2017 · 27/11/2018 08:29

Congratulations Cookie! Great news.
Wishing you well for the coming months.
Thank you ladies for listening to my grumbles. Just gets hard month on month, then we get news like Cookie's and all seems possible again.
Have had good sleep after some reflexology over the weekend so Im feeling more positive. On the note of supplements my lady told me zinc is essential-if i take nothing else zinc is a must as it has some sort of impact on sex hormones. Also, avoid eggs due to thw oestrogen content-who knew! I was eating them thinking theyd be great due to protein content.

PetraRabbit · 27/11/2018 08:55

Nice to read updates all round.

Congratulations Cookie! Wow!

Rose68 · 27/11/2018 09:31

Congratulations Cookie! Hopefully this is it for you. xxx

Kintan · 27/11/2018 10:26

Hi everyone, congrats on the BFP! Could I join in please? I am 40 and TTC number 2, We've been trying since September last year. I did get pregnant in May but sadly miscarried at 9 weeks. Which I suppose was age related, but who knows. I go between optimism and thinking why shouldn't we have another child, to worrying it's too late and I am wasting my time even trying! Nice to find people who understand!
I am taking CoQ10, high dose folic acid, and a multi vitamin. Think I'll order a vitamin D spray after reading the comments above x

Helbelle75 · 27/11/2018 10:36

Congratulations Cookie, that's brilliant news.
I haven't been putting much effort in to ttc as it happened so easily last time and I'm afraid I got a bit complacent. But I am older and I am overweight.
AF due on Thursday, but only managed to dtd once this month so not hopeful. Then I'm going to concentrate on losing the extra 12lbs. Lots of exercise and more sleep. Trying to wean my DD off so many night feeds as well. She's 19 months so doesn't need it.
We're both taking appropriate vitamins, but will try the vitamin d spray as well.
It's so hard, isn't it. It wasn't my choice to leave having a family until now - I didn't meet dh until I was 38. And in my head I'm still 25!
Great to have found this group and fingers crossed for everyone.

Helbelle75 · 27/11/2018 10:39

@kintan I asked after my last miscarriage (blighted ovum - found out at 12 week scan) if it was my age, and they said it was just one of those things and not to get caught up on age. I'm 43.
I'm desperate to believe them!

BooseysMom · 27/11/2018 10:41

Blimey! Congrats @Cookiewaffle! Flowers..have you got the test to show us?? xx

Hello @barnburntdown ..welcome to our not so little throng! Sorry don't know anything about your issue but wishing you luck with your journey xx

@Angrylittlemimosa .. interesting about progesterone and stress. Never heard of 'pregnenolone steal’ but def trying to relax more these days as old age creeps up on me! Currently waiting to see if AF appears. Have no signs atm but then she has a way of creeping up on me too!

BooseysMom · 27/11/2018 10:43

Ok phone...so why have you put an angry face before Littlemimosa??!! Confused sorry @Littlemimosa! Hopefully that won't happen again!

@Helbelle75 oh no sorry you had to go through finding out at the 12 week scan, that must have been awful :( My doctor told me the same, that the miscarriage 'didn't mean anything' in terms of it being age related or a deeper problem, and I am desperate to believe that too!
I'm still night feeding my 21 month old by the way. It's been a godsend lately as his molars are coming though, and it has been the only thing to calm him down, so I'm not in too much of a rush to night-wean x

Cleozeta · 27/11/2018 11:27

Congratulations cookie! Great news, enjoy your pregnancy Smile

Mimosa - I'm not really stressed at all, well only about not getting pregnant! Day to day life apart from that is fairly chilled. I think unfirtunately its probably just age/perimenopause related. I'll try the progesterone cream this cycle, and I've started on the DHEA which is supposed to help too.
