Snowie3 · 24/11/2018 11:45

Think i have Cleo a day before period due. But the next month it didnt happen.

CritterTamer · 24/11/2018 11:51

@Cleozeta - yes vitamin D spray is better than capsules - you spray it directly onto your tongue once per day. The Zita West store sells it.

@Snowie3 fingers crossed it gets stronger 🤞

CritterTamer · 24/11/2018 11:56

@Ladylorax welcome. Vitamin D is very important for egg quality and fertility in general. Deficiencies are also associated with miscarriage. Most people in the UK are deficient to some degree or other due to the lack of sunlight here and most normal multi-vitamins won’t contain enough to make a real difference to fertility. Also the vitamin D in a capsule is not as effective as the vitamin D your body should make naturally from sunlight - this is why sprays are better.

Orchid222 · 24/11/2018 14:47

Critter that's interesting because I spoke to a fertility nutritionist and when I said I was taking vit D she said keep taking it, not once did she mention I should switch to a spray because it's better...

@Orchid222 - IIRC it was Zita West’s books where I first learned about it - she has quite a lot to say on the subject. I did some further research and found a fair bit of Info on it and the gist seemed to be (hopefully I’m remembering this right) that whilst vitamin D in a multi bit capsule is better than none, the problem with it is that naturally vitamin D is not supposed to pass through your stomach - it’s manufactured in the skin through the action of sunlight and stomach acids damage it. A liquid spray into the mouth will mean it’s almost instantly absorbed through the mucous membranes of the mouth and does not have to pass through the stomach. Hope this makes sense!

Cleozeta · 24/11/2018 17:27

Thanka critter! I found some spray today in H & B. Going to start that today. Do you know if there is a difference between vit d & vit d3?
Just need to decide weather to start dhea today. Scared as don't want it to affect my cycle in anyway other than good

Gizmojo · 24/11/2018 21:09

Hi ladies. Can I join you? Hoping I can offer some hope, in that I had my first DS at 42, conceived naturally (after a MMC a few months before) - didn't plan to leave it so late, just met my husband late in life. In the end, pregnancy was absolutely fine and though birth ended up in a c-section it wasn't the horror story we might all be led to believe! I'm now 44 and we're now trying for number 2, although I'm really scared about it, feel like we're really chancing our arm having been so lucky first time around

Russkispy · 24/11/2018 22:08

@Snowie3 I can definitely see a line! Tentative congratulations! Fingers crossed for you Smile

minime2017 · 24/11/2018 22:57

Thanks for the new thread Orchid. Snowie I definitely see a line. Fingers crossed for you.
Interesting re Vit D. Ive read about it too and might order some on Amazon. Just when Id decided to give up on it all thanks to yet another af. So fed up with the while thing, want my life back but giving up is so final.

PetraRabbit · 24/11/2018 23:39

Oooh snowie, I see that and I'm not the best at seeing squinters! Thanks for sharing. This group loves a BFP to keep us going!
About the brown spotting. I had it once on a freak cycle (half way between now and my MMC/ERPC back in March). The spotting was on day 22, of course I got all excited, and period came 24 hours later on day 23. Until then I was a 28 day cycle girl so it was an odd one.
I knew about the vitamin D but not the reason for the spray. It makes sense as you give children the drops which must absorb the same way. I am really going to step it up on the Vitamin D. I already do Ubiquinol, an expensive fertility vitamin, EPO to ovulation, omega 3, and a mega VitB 100 pill (the latter a bit sporadically as I worry about the crazy high dosage long-term).

Cleozeta · 25/11/2018 08:33

Perra - interesting, you brown spotting story sounds like mine. So odd! Hopefully mine will be just a one off too.

I liked doing the vit d spray yesterday. Made a nice change from pill popping!!

Welcome gizmojo - congrats on your ds, fingers crossed for #2

Minime - I always feel like that when af comes too, then a couple of days in I start thinking of the next ov and then what I can do to improve the next attempt! My granny pill pot is getting very full.

minime2017 · 25/11/2018 09:48

Cleo, most definitely the same here. Surrounded by pregnant people in every aspect of life- family, friends and work. I just have to smile and get on. While I'm genuinely delighted for them all, some of whom have had difficulties too, I feel incredibly sad for myself and dh ... which sounds selfish.

Cleozeta · 25/11/2018 10:32

Are you joining the 'clinic camp' minime? Or just going with the flow? So many of us have been on here for years now with no luck Sad

Rose68 · 25/11/2018 11:04

Sorry if I’m being a bit quiet at the moment Ladies, I’m still trying to come to terms with everything.
Minime - I cant remember if you have any children already? If not, is it worth looking into fertility treatment? Lots of love xxx

littlemimosa · 25/11/2018 11:19

Orchid - thanks for the new thread hun

Snowie - I can see that line for sure! Let's hope your line gets stronger over next few days x

Welcome to all newbies. It never ceases to amaze me how many people are ttc over 40:-)

Re vitamin D - I've read the same about the spray, it basically absorbs better. I have the H& Barrett one.

Cleo - have you had your progesterone tested? Do you take magnesium and vitamin C/eat lots of citrus fruits? I ask because both are supposed to boost prog. Magnesium can also be bought at H&B in a spray but you put it directly on your skin and it absorbs straight into the blood stream.

Mini - have you had any tests done? How are your cycles?

littlemimosa · 25/11/2018 11:33

Rose68 · 25/11/2018 13:07

Was there an answer to whether vitamin D spray should be vitamin D or vitamin D3? x

minime2017 · 25/11/2018 15:15

Cleo we have watched friends go through unsuccessful IVF and younger friends have success with IUI and Clomid. No testing done as we conceived twice, just havent managed to hold onto the bean. Now approaching 42 I wonder is there any point looking into testing. Feeling despondent and almost fully resigned to us being a childless couple, even though it breaks my heart, especially as I should be nursing a 2/3 week old baby had I not mc. Sorry for being a Debbie Downer, blame it on post af hormone dip. As ov date approaches I'll perk up and regain perspective and optimism. You are all so determined and positive which keeps me determined too, it's just so sodding hard sometimes.

Rose68 · 25/11/2018 15:25

Minime - I’m so sorry.
Maybe it is worth looking into ivf? Look how well Critter has done. Egg donation could be something to consider further down the line too. I do understand it’s not for everyone though.
Are you taking lots of supplements and having acupuncture? I conceived within a few weeks of starting acupuncture.
Sending lots of love xxx

Cleozeta · 25/11/2018 17:42

Mimosa - I had my progesterone level checked in January, before my mmc. It was 28.4 which the gp claimed to be in normal range, although from researching it was actually low.
Thank you for the links, some interesting stuff there. I didn't realise vit E was important too? Time to crank up the supliments!

Cleozeta · 25/11/2018 18:50

Minime - if you have no children, might it be worth getting tests? It might also help you understand why your pregnancies are not sticking and there may be something you can do about it. I think it could be really worth your while.
I totally understand your feelings about what should have been. I should be having a c-section next week, if I hadn't mc in May. And yep, it always hits harder when af is here Sad

PetraRabbit · 25/11/2018 21:21

Minime. Do get tests done. It will ease your mind that you are doing everything you can. At 42 you are just about young enough to give this a good go before chances drop. (I say that honestly as a 43 year old who set 42 as my "must be pregnant by" date). You sound so sad, I'm so sorry you're feeling defeated. It is normal to feel that way but don't give up!

Realitysucks · 25/11/2018 22:45

Hi all, missed the new thread. Hi to everyone new and yes massive congrats to Critter!

@minime definitely worth getting tested! Some of my friends have been down the path and it’s not happened then at 42 and 46 it happened naturally when they had given up all hope!

I’m 40 And of the view that I am going to go down Clinic route in January if it doesn’t work I’ve done everything I can. I will know I’ve given it my best shot. Someone posted before, some of us spend our whole adult lives trying not to get pregnant then get here. That is so me ! Just wish I’d met my DH a few years ago but life is as it is and all I can do is hope and fingers crossed !
