waiting to TTC January- anyone else?

Hi everyone!I thought I would see if anyone else is in the same boat as me!

I am currently on my last pill packet, with the view to use condoms until January (planning in some time for my cycles to settle, though no idea how long that will actually take!)

We are going to 'see what happens' in January, as I don't want to start out too obsessed (though that is likely to escalate!), then if nothing happens within a few months we could start tracking.

I want to sort my diet/ exercise regime out before January really as I have been quite lazy recently! I have been taking folic acid and vit d for about a month now as I read that it is good to build up the supply in your eggs or something? This could be total rubbish though..

Is anyone else waiting until the New Year to TTC? What are your plans re tracking etc.? I am a bit clueless as about that!

@becca3210 ha I did the same then regretted it when he asked how I knew. I've been trying to keep that side low key and not really mention it much to him! I don't think he realises all the stuff we do to work out our fertile times!

@ernjas I agree, I've known I wanted to start TTC around Xmas time but since coming off the pill in Sept it so temping to just try but now I've waited this long I'm sure I can wait a few more weeks!

Pastaallday · 02/12/2018 18:33

Plus the fact it's easy to think it'll happen straight away when in reality it will prob take a fair few months or more!

ernjas · 02/12/2018 18:45

@Pastaallday yes, sometimes I forget it doesn't always happen instantly and you can't plan exactly!

becca3210 · 02/12/2018 18:56

@pastaallday ha ha glad not just me! Yes I don’t think they really get it. I probably won’t mention much more as think might freak him out further!

HJWT · 02/12/2018 19:05

Iv had a reeeeaaaallllly long day today with my toddler bouncing along the sofa like tigger out of Winnie the Pooh screaming ICE CREAM at me all day.... it makes me think am I ready for this really, 2 kids ? Haha!! Now she's in bed and I miss her 😂

HJWT · 02/12/2018 19:07

@Pastaallday I don't think it will happen for me straight away this time, but it did last time so I'm not risking it 😉😄

I keep sending my DH baby emojis👶🏻 haha.

MrsLalore · 02/12/2018 19:09

@Pastaallday oh this is totally me! Expecting it to happen straight away when I do know that's not how it works. My best friend's just got pregnant 2nd month so it weirdly feels like it's more pressure now! 🙃

ernjas · 02/12/2018 19:13

@HJWT I've also had a difficult day with a toddler!!! They're not easy 😂

Pastaallday · 02/12/2018 19:19

@becca3210 yes I've not really spoken to him about Opk or temping. I think it would freak him out a little!
So do you think I'd be safe to start TTC 21st ish Dec? I really hope I ovulate this month after coming off the pill I think I ovulated once and only had one really light rubbish period 2 weeks later so hoping I go back to regular but knowing me I prob won't! Will just relax and DTD lots over Xmas anyway!

HJWT · 02/12/2018 19:23

@ernjas honestly it's like the devil was with me today 😂 she's stopped taking naps now to and she got up at 6AM!!! AAAH! But seriously I'd rather have more DC now than wait because I could NOT have DD at school and then do it all over again!

HJWT · 02/12/2018 19:24

@Pastaallday I'm getting my implant removed in a couple of weeks so I hope I have a period soon after 🤭

ernjas · 02/12/2018 19:26

@HJWT yes, mine has just cut out naps this week too! I am drained by 7.30pm!!!! I'd definitely rather have them closer together, I think if I have a girl next then I'd be happy with two!

Pastaallday · 02/12/2018 19:35

Any tips? If I get a positive OPK should I just DTD each day? I know it's better to have sex before you ovulate for higher chances and a positive opk indicates that ovulation could occur soon? Should you start when you get a faint opk or the strong one? It's tricky as my husband isn't always around due to work so I'm a bit more limited.

MulderitsmeX · 02/12/2018 21:53

Thinking of casually trying in Jan. Have a DS already.

Annecdata- im a summer baby and did v well but think it's good to be old in the year maturity wise, plus our whole fam are spring babes so I need to make an autumn one lol!

becca3210 · 05/12/2018 14:59

@pastaallday I think the advice is to DTD every other day from the end of your period so that you are covered for whenever ovulation happens (or as much as you can if your husband is away) and then definitely when you are getting signs that you are close to ovulation. Don't know much about OPK sorry I am going to start with the clear blue digital ones as a bit clearer to interpret (but pricier so won't get for every month)

HJWT · 05/12/2018 16:00

@becca3210 go on YouTube and look for tracking fertility that will really help. With OPK as long as the lines are the same colour or test line is darker than means ovulation will happen within 12-36 hours. With out first DD we DTD every other day, the day of ovulation and the morning after, we got pregnant the first month of trying. They say not to DTD every day because the quality of sperm isn't as good. But I'm not sure how true or false that is !!

Keeping track like this helps with opks

waiting to TTC January- anyone else?
HJWT · 05/12/2018 16:01

I also start to test from CD10 and have a 28 day cycle :)

Pastaallday · 05/12/2018 19:50

I began opks a few days ago. My app has calculated that ovulation is imminent from when i last entered my period (first proper one off the pill). I'm trying to be optimistic but realistically I'm pretty sure I won't ovulate anytime soon. I had to wait 2 months for my first AF to arrive so would be a miracle of I had a 28 day cycle already! Anyone regulated after waiting ages for their first period?

HJWT · 05/12/2018 20:46

@Pastaallday have they got a second line at all yet?

Pastaallday · 05/12/2018 20:57

@HJWT I think I ovulated on the 12th November as I had a strong opk line and small pain on the right hand side for an hour or so. That would my first ever ovulation after the pill (if it was). So then had a very light brown/reddish period bleed exactly 2 weeks later. Do you think I could potentially ovulate this weekend? (A month after first ovulation) or more likely to be completely random again? It would be nice to hear of others' experiences. Im trying not to be too hopeful.

Pastaallday · 05/12/2018 20:59

Sorry not second line yet but I only got one a day before last month so night be a few more days yet? Fingers crossed..

HJWT · 05/12/2018 21:31

@Pastaallday sounds like your body is trying to get back to normal which is a plus! Have you started taking conception vitamins at all? Iv heard they can really help!! I started taking them at the beginning of the month I'm currently 'on my period' Iv got the implant in still so it just literally a bunch of hormones sore boobs & nothing else and my hormones are so much more settled with taking the vitamins xx

ernjas · 05/12/2018 22:07

Is anyone using a period/ovulation tracker app? Does anyone know how accurate they are? I'm currently using Flo and it seems good so far!

HJWT · 06/12/2018 09:26

@ernjas I used an app only with my first and got pregnant the first month! Whilst also working shifts every day so must be somewhat accurate x

MrsLalore · 06/12/2018 11:58

@HJWT I'm taking vitamins, started them a few months back as I'm an eager beaver! @ernjas I use Ovia and really rate it. I have tested a few months with OPKs just out of interest and it's always pretty accurate for my ovulation. But that may just be because I'm super regular! Xx
