waiting to TTC January- anyone else?

Hi everyone!I thought I would see if anyone else is in the same boat as me!

I am currently on my last pill packet, with the view to use condoms until January (planning in some time for my cycles to settle, though no idea how long that will actually take!)

We are going to 'see what happens' in January, as I don't want to start out too obsessed (though that is likely to escalate!), then if nothing happens within a few months we could start tracking.

I want to sort my diet/ exercise regime out before January really as I have been quite lazy recently! I have been taking folic acid and vit d for about a month now as I read that it is good to build up the supply in your eggs or something? This could be total rubbish though..

Is anyone else waiting until the New Year to TTC? What are your plans re tracking etc.? I am a bit clueless as about that!

I’ve actually been amazed at the regularity of my cycle, 12 years on the pill and I barely had a period a year for about 6 of those. I’d sort of forgotten to worry about them, now my body is au naturalle they come like clockwork.

Pastnowfuture · 21/10/2018 19:21

Hi everyone. I'm 35 and will be stopping my pill in Jan. My husband is due to finish his PHD in at the end of August so can't realistically afford to go on maternity until PHD is done and he can start bringing in an income. I haven't found the waiting hard, quite the opposite- I feel somewhat terrified by how fast time is flying by and the fact we could be parents by next Christmas!

thenextadventure · 21/10/2018 20:54

I've just joined Mumsnet after seeing this post! I will also start TTC for first baby in January, it is difficult waiting and is all I'm thinking about at the moment! Interesting to hear some of you are waiting to avoid a summer (youngest in the year) baby, as this is one of our reasons too

thenextadventure · 21/10/2018 20:55

I've just joined Mumsnet after seeing this post! Also going to start TTC for first baby in January, it is so difficult waiting and is all I'm thinking about/talking about at the moment! Interesting to hear some of you are waiting to avoid a summer (youngest in the year) baby, as this is one of our reasons too I'm 29 and have been married for three years, feels like the right time for us now!

becca3210 · 23/10/2018 13:44

Great lots of us in the same boat. I also would prefer Autumn/Winter baby for school reasons (am a primary teacher which is probably why!) though I know some people think I am a bit mad for even thinking that -probably including my August born husband :)

@PyjamasForever lol that was me at the dentist today thinking.. ooh I wonder if I will be pregnant the next time I have an appointment.

DollyWilde · 23/10/2018 14:31

@becca3210 I actually did tell my dentist that we were going to start TTC when I saw her earlier this month, she said she’d run some X-rays as it was a couple of years since I’d had them and might not be able to in 12 months time...

It was the first time I said it out loud to anyone other than DH and I think I grinned like a bit of an idiot!

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 23/10/2018 14:38

Dolly I know that feeling! Not mentioning it to many people as I don’t need the pressure, but I want some close people to know just in case. Stocking up on conception vitamins for us both this week so we’re both full of goodness by January Grin

becca3210 · 23/10/2018 14:44

@DollyWilde Aw that's nice.. it is exciting! That was good thinking about the X-rays that didn't cross my mind.

Was helping my friend to look after her twin's today - super cute but hard work! My mum is a twin so wonder if I should be worried Grin

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 23/10/2018 14:49

Becca what kind of twin? Identical aren’t passed down genetically but fraternal are.

DollyWilde · 23/10/2018 14:49

@istherainevercomingback ooh had stuck preconception vitamins on the supermarket delivery but didn’t think of putting them on for DH, great shout!

@becca3210 oh how funny, my mum’s a twin too! Slightly terrifying thought... I think I once read twins come down the dad’s side (although logically it’s more about the egg release than sperm??) - either way eek! I so admire my granny, she didn’t find out it was twins until a fortnight before having my mum and uncle - it was the 1950s and apparently it just hadn’t been picked up - all my great aunts were doing a knitting production line for the first few months apparently! Grin

DollyWilde · 23/10/2018 14:50

@istherainevercomingback Fraternal for me ShockConfused

DollyWilde · 23/10/2018 14:56

(That said, my mum does like to joke that they’re identical when she (blonde, female, 5ft 5in) is introducing him (black hair, Male, 6ft 2in) to people 😂)

Shefliesonherownwings · 23/10/2018 15:00

Oooh I haven't been to the dentist for a while. Wondering if I should book an appointment before the end of the year in case x rays are needed. Then I wonder if I will be tempting fate a bit and nothing may happen for ages!

DollyWilde · 23/10/2018 15:03

sheflies it only came up with my dentist as she asked why I’d booked in - any pain, issues etc - and I mentioned I’d read somewhere that the 6 months before trying was a good time to do a bit of a health MOT. So could be worth it? If you’re overdue a check up anyway and are anything like me it’s a good prod to book in

becca3210 · 23/10/2018 15:11

@DollyWilde @istherainevercomingback

Fraternal as well! My Mum also has twin brother. Was the same for my granny - no idea though they were children 3 and 4 so wonder if the pregnancy felt different. Love the idea of a knitting production line - brilliant!

Should be doing a bit of a health MOT probably myself though with a 30th birthday and Xmas coming up.. think may not happen Grin

DollyWilde · 23/10/2018 15:12

Ha, Becca, are you me? 29 as well Grin

becca3210 · 23/10/2018 15:19

Oh that's funny fingers crossed a good age for TTC! At least as my birthday is in a few weeks the birthday prosecco will be well and truly out of the system by December! [grins]

Sinead100 · 23/10/2018 15:21

Ooh joining for the journey...going to order pre vitamins now!

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 23/10/2018 20:28

Good luck making all the twins ladies Grin

I’m 30, will be 31 by January. Finally feeling grown up!

DollyWilde · 23/10/2018 20:53

I know what you mean, rain. Having spent so long being told it would be the end of days if I got pregnant it’s odd getting your head around the idea of it being a good thing!

Just posted a thread as having a dilemma about a hen.... have been invited to one in September (SIL!) and not sure how to handle it since we agreed we wouldn’t say anything to family. Eek!

PyjamasForever · 23/10/2018 21:40

I'm 31, already have one human child (and numerous cat babies), have a fairly sensible job and feel nowhere near grown up @rain. Not sure I'll ever feel like a grown up.

2 days until I get married. It's tempting to start TTC straight away but I need to remember u pasteurised cheese at Christmas and how a baby from October onwards would be much more sensible from a work/fiancé point of view.

DollyWilde · 23/10/2018 21:49

Oh happy wedding week @pyjamas! How exciting. Hope you have the most wonderful day.

(and yes, I can’t pretend the Christmas cheeseboard wasn’t a tiny factor in TTC timing!)

mama1DC · 23/10/2018 21:59

We are waiting till after Christmas to! Think I'll
be here youngest here at 23 ?! Getting implant removed in Dec! Hope we all came back in a couple of months with BFP!!

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 23/10/2018 22:37

Pyjamas I know what you mean, so tempted to start now. We’re getting married June 2020 so trying to fit in a baby before that! If I’m not pregnant by end of April at the latest we’ll stop and wait until after wedding to try again, as I don’t want to be pregnant for the wedding. But need to keep saving for now and maternity leave before September would be difficult. This is a very finely tuned planned, what could possibly go wrong 😂

becca3210 · 24/10/2018 09:14

Welcome everyone who has joined :) Here's to a cheese binging Christmas everybody!

@PyjamasForever that's so exciting! Have a lovely wedding.

@IsTheRainEverComingBack good luck with wedding plans. It is tricky isn't it factoring money as well. I need to definitely start saving come the new year. Husband will be going self-employed from the Spring so perhaps not the most sensible year for me to be TTC but at the same time am thinking is there ever a perfect time? Could take ages to happen etc. etc. !
