waiting to TTC January- anyone else?

Hi everyone!I thought I would see if anyone else is in the same boat as me!

I am currently on my last pill packet, with the view to use condoms until January (planning in some time for my cycles to settle, though no idea how long that will actually take!)

We are going to 'see what happens' in January, as I don't want to start out too obsessed (though that is likely to escalate!), then if nothing happens within a few months we could start tracking.

I want to sort my diet/ exercise regime out before January really as I have been quite lazy recently! I have been taking folic acid and vit d for about a month now as I read that it is good to build up the supply in your eggs or something? This could be total rubbish though..

Is anyone else waiting until the New Year to TTC? What are your plans re tracking etc.? I am a bit clueless as about that!

Hello, we are also waiting until end of Dec to start TTC. Im imagining from Xmas day onwards! Mainly as I would prefer to not have a summer born baby but I know there things likely don't go to plan! But it's our first and so we shall see. Im waiting on my period to return @boodles101 how long did you periods take to return when you first m stopped pill? I'm in about day 42 ish since I stopped my pill so hoping by Dec they'd have sorted out but now less hopeful!

boodles101 · 29/10/2018 06:51

pastaallday with my DS I stopped my pill and periods returned immediately for me. I was on combined pill rigevidon. I also fell pregnant on 2nd cycle. Fingers crossed it's as quick this time around too.

Hi all!
I’m currently in the ‘massively broody but being forced to wait’ camp. A close friend is getting married late July so we really, really can’t get pregnant this month and risk missing his wedding!

We have a DD turning one in a few weeks, and want a smallish gap, however, I’m breastfeeding and my periods haven’t returned so I think I am going to have to stop in order for us to TTC :( I can just tell I’m not fertile at the moment (one of those who always knows when I’m ovulating.)

One thing to bear in mind, if anyone out there loves Christmas I found it really hard last year with a newborn at Christmas, so we have decided if it’s not happened by January to stop trying in February and a March to avoid clashes with DD’s birthday and Christmas. I would love a September baby, gives you a few months to recover and baby will hopefully be a bit more settled by December. I know you can’t really control these things but one can hope! I wouldn’t mind an August baby, my niece who is 5 struggled for the first few months at school but now has an advanced reading age and is as bright as a button. I think this is because her mum put extra time and attention in to help her catch up, so it isn’t the end of the world to have a summer baby, and having summer parties is a big plus! Good luck to everyone TTC. I’m excited already Smile

Hazandduck · 29/10/2018 07:12

Ps I’m turning 30 in December and would like my second baby before 31 ideally!

frostywalkshotchocolate1 · 29/10/2018 07:19

@Hazandduck I really don't want a december baby so won't be TTC after feb either ! Only get 2 goes 😂 my niece is a December baby and her birthday is so stressful being near Christmas !!

Hazandduck · 29/10/2018 08:27

I know @frostywalks - no pressure, ay?! 🙈😂 I was born just after Christmas and I actually quite like it all being lumped in together but I don’t really enjoy birthdays so I think I’m a bit weird any way!

stickytoffeepud2412 · 29/10/2018 09:45

Hi Everyoneee :)
Im 27, have a DD who is 2 Dec/Christmas Eve.
Starting uni in Sept 2020 so realistically only want to start trying again after the new year as I want my maternity leave to fall right and for me to go straight to uni not have to go back to work and also for my DD 30 hours free to kick in. Advised DH we have a timeframe of Jan to May - but as we all know that doesn't happen when its TTC.
Nervous for TTC as I feel we have a timescale it wont happen!!
Havent been on any contraception since June roughly having 30/31 day cycles. Currently ovulating now so looking at the end of December/jan to start! :)
xx

Jelliestogether · 30/10/2018 06:44

Can I join the wait too? We are both 27, recently engaged but want to have a baby before we get married in 2020 (hopefully! Although nothing booked yet). Waiting for a few reasons, one was to sort our finances out and reportage, and second was my OH would rather not have a summer baby. So waiting til Jan!! Not been on the pill for over a year but have irregular periods, currently using the pull out method as if it happens it happens.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 31/10/2018 19:56

We’ve caved. We’re going to start TTC this month! We also want to squeeze in a baby before a 2020 wedding so can only try until April to avoid a tiny baby at the wedding. Thought to hell with it, let’s just get on with it.

becca3210 · 01/11/2018 07:06

Ah that's exciting! Good luck @IsTheRainEverComingBack :)

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 01/11/2018 08:35

Thanks Becca I think I’m just a wildly undecided person in all aspects, now I’ve settled on a decision I just want to get moving. Have flipped my Natural Cycles to Plan a Pregnancy, fingers crossed!

Jelliestogether · 02/11/2018 08:38

Good luck @istherainevercomingback got all my fingers crossed for you!

I tried convincing my OH to start now but he says he wants to wait til Jan! But I have the same thoughts as you as we are also planning a 2020 wedding and I want to be able to loose a bit of the weight and not have a tiny baby!

DoYouLikeHueyLewisandTheNews · 02/11/2018 10:34

@IsTheRainEverComingBack how exciting! Everything crossed for you.

TrashKitten10 · 04/11/2018 19:47

Hi all, can I join the exciting wait? DH and I have decided to start trying for our first baby in the new year. We’ve had a busy year with our wedding and new house and had originally thought we would wait a bit longer and enjoy married life but the broodiness has hit! I also have PCOS so I’m realistic in that it could take quite a long time so it may be better to start trying sooner rather than later. I’m going to try to stay relaxed and not put too much pressure on it but knowing my stressy tendencies I’ll be obsessively temping by month two! Can’t wait to see in Christmas with lots of pate and soft cheese and then join you all on the journey in January.

Soexciting · 04/11/2018 20:38

Where was this thread yesterday when I was to-ing and fro-ing over trying now or trying in December/January!
Pros of waiting
I am a teacher so a September baby would mean 6 weeks off followed by mat leave instead of just mat leave which would be less money than normal summer pay.
Waiting would give us a grace period incase our building work goes over time or over budget, I would be due later so more months wages and no screaming baby on a building site grand designs style.
I am very overweight even having a couple of months to seriously try to lose weight and to get the vitamin and zinc thing going would be beneficial
Cons of waiting
I am 34 and not getting younger
Best friend is due in may and it would be nice to overlap as much as possible
I want a baby!
Still can't decide but if I do wait I feel like this thread will help.

becca3210 · 17/11/2018 07:54

How is everyone doing? Now know that fertile period will probably be around end of December so will be starting then. Starting to feel real a bit now. Had to add something to an amazon order to get to the free delivery amount so got some of those digital ovulation sticks. Now wondering as it’s first cycle if should be a bit more relaxed about it all but also think would be helpful to know exactly when am ovulating. Hmm!

Jelliestogether · 17/11/2018 08:41

We are both struggling this month with the decision to wait....so possibly going to start ttc in December instead! As that still should be a September baby...which is something my OH is keen on as he doesn't want a summer baby if we can plan it! So my fertile period should be around mid December!

How are you getting on @becca3210

becca3210 · 18/11/2018 17:38

@Jelliestogether that's exciting so only a few weeks then if do decide to go for it. Looking like my fertile time will be end of December (Christmas/New Years Eve baby?? here's hoping!!) Are you keeping it between you and your OH that you will be TTC? We are planning on just keeping it between us for now. My older sister unfortunately has been trying for a baby this year with no luck so seems a bit strange to be starting as hoped she would have some good news by now but guess you can't plan these things and think best for us to get started.

Jelliestogether · 18/11/2018 18:32

Fingers crossed only a few more weeks. Looks like I'll ovulate in the week running up to Christmas, also happens to be our anniversary! So fingers crossed he doesn't have a wobble and make me wait til Jan! Although today he's saying how worries he is about our ski trip in march so maybe we should wait til Feb...It's driving me made...totally for it one minute. Then the next a wobble! I'm just aware how common it is for problems and he seems to think we will just have sex and I'll be pregnant.

Fingers crossed for your christmas/New year baby!! Same as you will just be keeping it between ourselves for the time being.

Lipsticksandlariats · 19/11/2018 20:30

Know some of you ladies have been waiting to TTC for a while now so I need your help. Baby fever is so strong right now but me and partner can't TTC until after our wedding in May 2019. My brother had a baby less than two weeks ago and my fiance's sister is due her second baby a few days after Xmas. So now I can't stop thinking about babies and TTC. Literally any free time is baby dreaming time.
I've been following threads on here and other sites, reading so much info and have bought a bbt thermometer and opks so I can start tracking as im quite irregular.
Anyone got any advice on keeping sane until I can get my IUD taken out after the wedding? Also tips for preparing myself and body? Planning on starting folic acid in the new year.

MrsPMT23 · 20/11/2018 21:22

Hi ladies! Can I join in too? We're planning on TTC DC2 in January too, currently have a 2.4 DD. Started taking my prenatal vitamins and due to ovulate on 13th Jan. All seems a bit real now I will only have two more AF before trying again. We were really lucky and got a BFP on the first cycle with DD. How are ladies with DCs feeling? I keep going from excitement to feeling really guilty about how much life will change for DD with another baby around.

workinprogressmum · 21/11/2018 13:24

Tentatively saying, me!

Have a 4 year old who took 16 months to concieve. I have PCOS and didn't have periods / ovulate some months. He is our miracle :)

I was meant to have a September baby but he was a month premature so I don't care when baby #2 arrives, as long as we're both healthy. Just being able to both go home after the birth would be an absolute privilege (rather than spending the whole of my husband's paternity leave in special care...).

Good luck to everyone!

HJWT · 21/11/2018 13:59

Iv been trying to book an app to get my implant remove for 2 weeks they keep telling me I can't book that far in advance 😂 (mid Dec) I'm so anxious !!! Can't wait now

HJWT · 21/11/2018 14:03

@MrsPMT23 I'm exactly the same DD is 2.4 year, the other day we saw a friends new baby she was rocking her noses basket and shushing her... I think they will love it 😍

MrsPMT23 · 21/11/2018 14:29

HJWT My DD is completely baby obsessed at the moment so I know she'll love it. I just love the time I have with her at the moment but we don't want to leave a bigger age gap and the timing seems right, just so nervous and excited at the same time!

Any other prep other than prenatal vitamins I can do? I definitely need to do some core exercises 🙊🙈
