@Lougg that's lovely news for your friend❤️

Lozzy25 · 17/10/2018 07:34

Hi everyone, please can I join? I’m 25 and TTC #1 😊 it will be our fist cycle TTC when I finish my period end of Oct!

Lougg · 17/10/2018 07:43

@Delilah7 such good news. It happened the month they went to the doctor who told them to throw away all the tests and the dreaded "relax". Having said that the doctor also did an ultrasound and was able to show her the egg about to pop and so was like go, go, go! So despite them now being advocates of just relax I actually think they just had absolute perfect timing!

stormtrooperjulian · 17/10/2018 08:26

@Lougg that’s great news for your friend!

How long do people feel ovulation pains for? In the past I’ve felt the pains for maybe a couple of hours, but after a +ve (ish) opk on Monday (and negative opk yesterday evening) I’ve been having the pains on and off all day yesterday and all morning so far today. So when do I count 0dpo? Yesterday or today? And should DH and I dtd again tonight just to make sure? We’ve dtd last night and the night before and I thought that would be us covered for the month but now I’m confused as I’m still feeling the ovulation pains! I usually get sore boobs immediately following ovulation but no sign of that so far.
Sorry for the essay 😂

Crossfitgirl · 17/10/2018 09:18

@Rachael321 I have asked lots of my parent friends how long it took them and for most it was between 6 months and a year. Maybe people get sick of mumsnet after a few months of trying with no success, leaving only the fairly new starters to continue obsess 😁

@fivexfive my holiday was lovely thanks, it went too quickly! I may just sack work off tomorrow, if it's not great news I'm just gonna take a mental health day. Lol.
Love the keeping it exciting on the DTD! Have you tried it both of you blindfolded? We once did this whilst playing monogamy (couples board game) and twas extremely sensual and very good sex!!

@mrsM2017 ttc is so hard, and different for everyone. I'm sure you will be doing all the right things, how often are you DTD? Are you timing it or doing it all month? It's reassuring your blood tests are fine, and you're regular etc, good luck with the sperm analysis (or organising of!).

@lougg aww so pleased for your friend.
Cd34! How frustrating- I guess not much to do but wait it out! Like some have said on precious thread, maybe you have to wait it out and test again next cycle?

Welcome @lozzy25!

@stormtrooperjulian I get ov pains anything from like, a couple of days to a week! Ov could be either day, so count both and DTD today and tomorrow too.

@charm23 my doctor told me every other day is best, as your OH needs time inbetween for the sperm to regenerate, so it's better quality and more likely to swim to where it needs to be. Smep tells you do it 3 days in a row around ovulation but also to have at least 1 days break if having sex more than (I think) 7 days in a row? If you don't know when you ovulate I'd go with every other day and maybe a bit more when you think your fertile week is?

I'm attempting every 2-3 days, but before this I was trying to time it round ov at least once or twice in the days leading up, until my doc told me not to.

EltzBee · 17/10/2018 09:45

Morning! Gosh you guys do well to get your other half to do the deed every day or every other! I got met with a 'I'm too tired' last time, we'd managed twice during what the app thought should be my fertile time this month but who knows - no positive OPKs still.

Crossfitgirl · 17/10/2018 09:58

@eltzbee don't be fooled, the struggle is real. We normally have sex maybe once every couple of weeks, sometimes more but often less! Its only since I went to docs and she said every 2-3 days that DH has agreed to it, but for many of us on here we are the sole initiators and often get rejected due to tiredness/ not had a shower yet / not in the mood. I mean, I'm only on the 3rd lot of planned sex this cycle and I was too tired myself to initiate when I was supposed to, last night, and of course DH didn't think to try it on so already my first month of trying to do every 2-3 days has morphed to every 2-4 days!

It's hard work ttc! @flapjackered still going strong? I've missed a day already but going to text DH now to make sure it's in his mind for tonight!

EltzBee · 17/10/2018 10:01

@Crossfitgirl that's something of a relief to hear! We're the same, it is a struggle. Blush

FlapJackered · 17/10/2018 10:07

Urggg day 5 of flashing smiley. I think the cheapy opks are getting darker though.
Sod's law it will be solid tomorrow when I am away for the night after sticking to smep so well. 🙈

@stormtrooperjulian I get ovulation pains for 3 or 4 days around ovulation, I have heard it isn't the best predictor of ovulation in most people.

@Crossfitgirl - how is smep going for you?
It is going ok for us except for the most unromantic quickie this morning. 🙈
What time is your appointment tomorrow? I am sure it will be fine, but will keep my fingers crossed for you. Let us know how it goes.

@Lougg that is so nice about your friend, it is good to hear stories like that, gives you hope!

FlapJackered · 17/10/2018 10:12

@Crossfitgirl crosspost (got distracted and took ages writing that last one and missed yours) Well done on keeping going with it. I think the texting is a good idea!

@EltzBee what @Crossfitgirl said! We only did it once or twice a week max and it is a struggle with DH to make sure he is in the mood. This morning we did it but he was obviously not into it and it took a while, not romantic and doesn't make me feel overly attractive when it's such a struggle 🙄
It took a lot of explaining and nagging to get where we are now with it!

Lozzy25 · 17/10/2018 10:15

I’ve had the chat with my OH about how we should try and do the deed every other day and he seems fine with that at the moment! Let’s see how long that lasts before I get the “I haven’t had a shower” or “I’m too tired” 🙄

Crossfitgirl · 17/10/2018 11:05

@lozzy25 my DH was ecstatic about DTD all the time! But actions speak louder than words and being proactive isn't DH strong point. He even suggested we have sex every day! Well... yes love that's great but why aren't you initiating it then?? Haha.
He thinks of a plan, but expects me to execute it!

Hopefully your OH will be fine - as there's also lots of ladies on here that have very good OHs that are totally on board too. Let us know how you get on!

@flapjackered well done on keeping it up! So far we have DTD on CD 6 and 8, missed cd10 as was in Italy but was too tired last night, so going for tonight (Cd12) and Friday, I go to London on Friday night then I'm back Sunday night so I'm hoping that covers CD14 and 16, then I usually ov on CD17 so hoping that works out quite nicely!

My temp has been weird though and went up, and now flo is saying I ovulated 3 days ago - which I think is a lie!! Lol.

I will be ringing first thing for an appointment tomorrow (that's the only way to book an on-the-day appointment) so will let you know what they say.

Xx

MrsC87 · 17/10/2018 11:15

Morning ladies!
Thats good going on the dtd front @Crossfitgirl @FlapJackered get on it girls!!

Congrats to your friend @Lougg fab news!
Any sign of AF or BFP for you yet?

Welcome newbies @Lozzy25 & anyone else I've missed.

So what are you guys doing about holidays next year? Booking & getting travel insurance or holding off for now?
Feel I should book something to be excited about but then am I resigning myself to the fact I won't be pregnant next year... or if I am and can't go have to cancel....xx

Delilah7 · 17/10/2018 11:26

Ladies advise! - got some stringy EWCM this morning. Not a lot but defo feel more stuff going on down there. DTD FROM NOW?! 😂😂

OP posts:
Crossfitgirl · 17/10/2018 11:36

@delilah7 YES get your cowgirl on go go go!!! 👯‍♀️

@mrsc87 book your holiday, and just be smart about cancellation processes and try book things without cancellation fees etc. Life goes on, you can't put life on hold, if you do get pregnant you won't care about losing a bit of money on a holiday if you do need to cancel or change it, but if you book nothing and don't get pregnant, you'll be miserable.

FlapJackered · 17/10/2018 11:40

@Delilah7 YES! Get going girl! 🐎

@MrsC87 we are booking a holiday to japan next year, I am just going to get an expensive insurance policy with cancellation insurance just in case. We will also wait to book hotels etc until nearer the time.
I don't think it's a good idea to put life on hold just in case.
I also think if we don't book it I know I won't be pregnant and if we do I will be! 😂

MrsC87 · 17/10/2018 11:45

Yes good point @FlapJackered &@Crossfitgirl. I'm off work this week just using up some holiday & bored of housework so going to do some holiday research this afternoon!
Japan sounds lovely @FlapJackered, you been before?

FlapJackered · 17/10/2018 11:53

@MrsC87 no not been before, but I have a friend who lives out there. We are going primarily because of the rugby World Cup for DH, so the disappointment will be real on his part if we don't get out there 😂
Do you know where you want to go on hols yet?

Delilah7 · 17/10/2018 11:54

@FlapJackered @Crossfitgirl is it bad I just thought my sisters birthday is the 22nd July. If I got pregnant this month it would be due July. Don't want to do it now 😂

OP posts:
MrsC87 · 17/10/2018 12:08

Oh crikey, 🙈 having a baby is way more exciting than the rugby though @FlapJackered so he'll be elated! He can watch it on the TV lol!
Well I've 3 places in mind, want to go in May regardless, so New York, it will be my 3rd time there but want to take DH, or a cruise from UK around Med (love the idea of not flying!!) or just a nice Greek Island, Santorini or mainland Greece. Very different ideas but I do love a good holiday lol!

SenoraSurf · 17/10/2018 12:10

@Lozzy25 my OH hates knowing about all the ttc stuff so I have to build up the illusion that I'm wanting to DTD for enjoyment whereas in reality it's me trying to facilitate a baby even so we have only managed twice this fertile window!

@MrsC87 we are holding off for now. We're going camping around April May time but don't want to risk summer time in case it tempts fate (silly I know!). Well, OH would be happy to book a summer holiday but Im thinking about potential baby or being super pregnant!

EltzBee · 17/10/2018 12:52

Same debate about booking something or not! I'm not a huge fan of flying so the past few years have done cruises, which are really enjoyable. But they do have a rule that you can't be past 24 weeks pregnant and infants have to be 6months or older, so haven't booked anything for next year yet. We might do something more 'last minute' instead. @SenoraSurf same as you don't want to tempt fate yet!

Oh gosh you have all reassured me that I'm 'normal' (whatever that is!) with 'DTD' at the 'right time' and persuading the husband at the right time!!!

Crossfitgirl · 17/10/2018 12:55

Mission TTC: Make DH think sex was his idea and make him initiate
Phase 1: Text sent.
Response: positive.
Plan: inform ladies of outcome later!

EltzBee · 17/10/2018 12:56

@Crossfitgirl go you!!! Grin who would think it was so difficult to have our wicked way with our husbands, eh!

MrsC87 · 17/10/2018 12:58

@EltzBee what cruise line do you go with normally?
Think I'll research but maybe book in the new year 🤞 I'll have a BFP before then!
