Hi lovelies!

A thread for the graduates of those who were waiting to TTC and are now actively trying, or very soon to be actively trying! Apologies if I've forgotten anyone or tagged the wrong people, please do join in or join later as necessary! Hoping we can continue to support and keep each other sane in this TTC madness!

We have decided to say no to the holiday this year (making it clear we are up for it next year haha) and are going to visit one of my step sons and his fiance a bit earlier instead.

How is everyone doing?

dottydally · 07/05/2019 08:38

@NeverHadANickname I'm pleased you reached a decision. Do you feel happier now?

I'm 12+2 and had my 12 week scan on Friday. It's been a busy weekend of telling people (with some reactions less excited than othersHmm) and now just work to go. I'm so nervous!

rollerskaterdata · 07/05/2019 13:01

@NeverHadANickname glad you managed to come to a decision you're happy with 😊

@dottydally yaye, congratulations on hitting the 12 week mark! How was your scan?? I bet it was such a relief and so exciting at the same time! I'm hitting my own milestone this week, I'll be 37 weeks in 2 days so full term, and then starting the natural remedies to get things moving! Wouldn't normally start spot on 37 weeks but with my severe SPD and multiple episodes of (unexplained) reduced movements (unexplained because my weekly CTGs and fortnightly scans consistently show everything is perfect) I'm ready for this baby to be out than in now! Plus I have my first sweep at 38 weeks next week and I'm hoping doing some natural remedies in advance will 'prep' my cervix for it!

rollerskaterdata · 07/05/2019 13:04

@dottydally also what mixed reactions did you have?? I hope nothing too negative. I'm sure telling work will be fine, the law is strongly in your favour. What do you think they'll say?

OP posts:
NeverHadANickname · 07/05/2019 15:39

@dottydally I do feel better. As nice as that type of holiday would be I'd just be too nervous. Ignore the negative reactions, hope they weren't too bad.

@rollerskaterdata 37 weeks! Wow, so close. Such a shame you are having a hard time. Will soon be here though (easy for me to say not in your position I know).

Can I ask for all of your help please? I had a scan at 18+5 yesterday which was amazing. We need to go back in a few weeks because they couldn't get all of the measurements with being this early (despite it being them that wanted me in now) but I get an extra scan so all good. Can you tell me which way the baby is? I had assumed it was facing top right with hand in front of nose and back facing down as in most scans but the more I look at it maybe it is facing the bottom left and maybe there is a foot towards the right at the bottom then the leg? Hand over a shoulder behind its head? DH thinks the second. Let me know if I'm not clear and I'll draw some bits on the scan to help. I logged onto the desktop site to post so fingers crossed the picture loads.

@rollerskaterdata wow, I can't believe you're approaching full term already! Congratulations though, I hope the next few weeks are good to you and you're snuggling a little baby soon. Keep us updated!

I'm so happy to have hit that magical 12 weeks. I feel odd though as I'm starting to feel better but I don't have a bump yet, almost like it's not real! Carrying my scan photo round to remind myself I'm not dreaming Blush just waiting for my combined screening blood test results back. If I've not heard by Thursday I know it's low risk. I'm relatively calm as the baby's neck measured 1.5 which is well below the threshold.

Just a few of my friends were less enthused than I'd hoped. I think it was shock though as this is probably unexpected for them. I know I'd been waiting a long time but I'd not spoken to anyone about it so everyone was expecting me to announce an engagement! I have since had flowers delivered though so think one was feeling bad. I think the response at work will be similar if I'm honest. I know I'm protected but I'm much younger than the 'done thing' so no one is expecting it (I don't think anyway!).

Today is the day anyway so wish me luck! I expect there may be a couple of 'oh was it a surprise' questions - even though I wouldn't dream of asking anyone that!

@NeverHadANickname I'm pleased you feel happier. There'll be lots of holiday opportunities when you'll enjoy it more. The scan picture is hard, I can see it both ways! I saw it your way before I read your post in full. Looking at my scan (albeit only at 12w) I'd say it's facing the top right corner but it'll be interesting to see what others say!

rollerskaterdata · 08/05/2019 10:27

@dottydally I will do! Feeling a few twinges here and there but nothing that amounts to anything. I'm ready to have this baby now!! Will you post a pic of your 12 week scan? I do love a scan pic 😊 let us know how you get on at work too!

@NeverHadANickname like dotty I could see it your way until I read your post in full! Now I can see it both ways, but maybe slightly leaning towards thinkjng baby is looking towards bottom left?

OP posts:
NeverHadANickname · 08/05/2019 13:34

@dottydally @rollerskaterdata thanks both. I have an appointment this morning so I'll ask them then and hopefully they can shed some light on it. I feel terrible I can't tell 🙈 parent guilt starting already 😂

NeverHadANickname · 08/05/2019 16:18

Well, not entirely sure that helped. She said it is facing the top right so hand in front of face but that is a leg going the other way? Said the baby is breach so back down on the scan but surely that's how all non breach babys look on scans too? Still confused. Got my next scan in 4 weeks to get final measurements so I might ask again then. The more I look at it the more I think it is facing down, it's just the body shape. But when scanning she did say she was focusing on the face because we didnt want to know the sex.

mussie · 12/05/2019 09:28

Guys I am raging. I had a secret Instagram for TTC (as you do) and one of DH's friends saw it, realised it was me, and proceeded to read it! AND THEN TOLD ME HE'D SEEN IT AND READ IT! He's probably reading this now too 🙄 isn't that just so rude? Like it's obvious that it's meant to be anonymous, I'm not in any of the pictures and my name isn't on it. Why would you then presume to read it? And even if you had morbid curiosity and read it, you would know that what you had done was wrong so you wouldn't then tell the person and embarrass them?? Gah. Found it was because the Instagram was attached to my phone number and popped up as a suggested account to him, so I've changed all that and locked down the privacy.

We've been fairly open about our journey with people when it has come up in conversation, so it's not specifically that he now knows I've had a miscarriage and an ectopic - we would have told him those things anyway. It's more that I wrote personal things there about how I was feeling etc and I'm just cross that that's been exposed.

Just a wee rant. On a brighter note, AF is due today/tomorrow, and then we're back to TTC Smile

NeverHadANickname · 12/05/2019 13:56

@mussie how annoying! Such an invasion when there was no name and stuff on it. Definitely out of order to tell you about it even if they did read it. Suppose you know now and have taken steps to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Exciting about ttc again! Good luck.

rollerskaterdata · 12/05/2019 18:50

@NeverHadANickname I hope your next scan gives you more clarity!

@mussie I would be fuming, what a massive invasion of privacy! Sorry you had to go through that but glad you've managed to strengthen your privacy controls. And so exciting you're very close to TTC again, time has flown!

AFM I woke up Saturday early morning around 3am with horrendous lower back pain which I had on and off all day, which was radiating to my front feeling like period pains and upper thigh pain. Was also having some irregular but pretty painful Braxton Hicks contractions too. I called the labour line and the lovely midwife on the other end of the phone said it deffo sounded like early/latent labour but warned me it can start and stop and take a few days or even weeks for a few women before full labour actually starts (I was induced with my first so I have no idea what going into natural labour feels like). And of course by the end of the day everything stopped and I'm actually a lot more disappointed than I thought I would be. I feel like my body is teasing me! Still getting the odd pain but nothing to signal imminent labour, so it's a waiting game now. Never been in this position before so I don't know what to think! Thankfully I have a sweep in a few days at my 38 week appt so I'm hoping my cervix will be favourable for it and it'll encourage along whatever has already started

OP posts:
mussie · 12/05/2019 19:31

@rollerskaterdata oh that sounds promising! Hopefully turns into something, rather than keeping you on tenterhooks for weeks! Good luck Smile

rollerskaterdata · 12/05/2019 19:39

@mussie thanks hun, me too!! Had an hour earlier this evening of more intense lower back pain going round to the front and contractions but again fizzled out. Arrrgghhh! This stop/starting nonsense is just driving me crazy now lol. It's only been 2 days 🙄

OP posts:
mussie · 12/05/2019 21:33

@rollerskaterdata is baby lying back to back maybe? Get onto the Spinning Babies website for tips 😁

rollerskaterdata · 13/05/2019 10:02

@mussie I immediately thought that actually, but last check with midwife said she wasn't. I'll double check again at my next appt this week. Thanks for the website, I'll check it out!

@mussie the best of luck! Thanks

@rollerskaterdata how are you doing?

rollerskaterdata · 16/05/2019 10:57

@dottydally simply put I'm 38 weeks now and FED UP 😂😩

How are you feeling? You just be around 13 weeks now so entering second trimester?

OP posts:
dottydally · 16/05/2019 13:28

@rollerskaterdata anything that makes you think baby might come soon? Thinking of you x

I'm closing in on 14 weeks and have finally started to feel better in the last few days. I still tire easily but I can now do something other than arrive home from work and collapse on the sofa!

rollerskaterdata · 16/05/2019 16:15

@dottydally well I had my first sweep booked for today and it was a success (in that the midwife was able to do it). Cervix is still posterior but is very soft, only 1cm long and 1cm dilated. So now I'm sitting and waiting to see if anything happens! And yaye, second trimester for you, so glad you're feeling better!! Any signs of a mini baby bump yet?
