New thread ladies! @PastaSauceHoarder @Goostacean @Barker26 @crazychemist @DoveGreylove @springsummerautumnwinter can't remember who else to tag.

I know @cupcakesandglitter has linked us to a new thread but I'm not sure I am strong enough to be surrounded by those TTC already!

@PastaSauceHoarder no worries hun 🙂 hoping you catch that sticky bean soon! X

PumpkinsMum18 · 05/10/2018 13:50

@Jelliestogether congratulations on your engagement! 😁❤️

AlwaysaNortherner · 05/10/2018 13:52

@Jelliestogether congratulations! That's so exciting, so many things happening all at once for you! I've just joined this thread, had a big chat with my DH about ttc and as a result we have decided to go for it in January, but now I'm really impatient for that to come round. Got my period yesterday and am definitely excited that that brings me one cycle closer!

Jelliestogether · 05/10/2018 14:02

Thanks @pumkinsmum18 @alwaysanortherner

Yup nothing like it all happening all at once!

@alwaysanortherner we are looking to start in the new year too! My cycle is all over the place so hopefully only 2 or 3 to go! Currently having an unusual AF right now so who knows! Although I was excited that the cycle was only 32 days instead of the 40+ it's been for the past few cycles!

Rachael321 · 05/10/2018 20:18

Oooh I'm liking the idea of counting down periods instead of saying waiting X amount of months! Doesn't sound as long that way.
Had a talk with OH this week and decided as we have booked a day at Aintree races in April we will wait until after that and assess the situation RE: me hopefully having a new job by then! Just need to be impatient as ever until then!

Is there ever a "right time" though?

AlwaysaNortherner · 05/10/2018 20:49

Ah @Jelliestogether 32 days is good then! I've had the opposite problem, since I came off the pill in June my cycles have been quite short. The shortest was 21 days and I was like really, already?!

I guess there's never a perfect time but we all have sensible reasons for waiting. Having nice things to look forward to in the mean time is good! We might go away somewhere for a few days at New Year, anyone got any good European city break ideas? Smile

PumpkinsMum18 · 05/10/2018 20:55

@AlwaysaNortherner we went to Amsterdam at the beginning of September and it was great! Loads to see and do, the canals are really pretty and the food/drink was all excellent. Don’t worry about the sleazy reputation, that’s only a very small part of it lol. Would highly recommend the Van Gogh museum if you like art, was very interesting.

WildFlower2018 · 05/10/2018 20:57

Hello, I'm hoping I'm in the right place 👋

I was pregnant with my first baby earlier this year, but sadly at our 12w scan (in August) we were told our baby hadn't developed properly and had a condition that was incompatible with life. We had the option to terminate or let nature take its course in utero. We decided the first option was kinder.

We're now waiting for test results before we can TTC again. There's a very very tiny chance we have each passed on a gene to cause this condition, and would have a 1 in 4 chance of it happening again. HOWEVER, we're not worried because it's more likely to have been the result of a fluke "error" in how the baby formed. We know this because the genetic problem is far far far more typical in girls where as the majority of times, the "fluke" happens in boys. (It's all to do with kidneys and bladders forming).

The doctors have made us wait 12w to discuss the post mortem and get the results through, which is pretty agonising. We'll be going on the 16th of Nov, so next month. Mind you, I'm yet to have a period, so we'd have had to wait anyway. But it's still annoying.

Thanks to anybody who read this far!

Info:

Age: 33

TTC in either late Nov or from Dec onwards assuming my cycles are back to normal by then.

I live in Yorkshire

PastaSauceHoarder · 05/10/2018 21:18

Oh @WildFlower2018, just want to say I'm so sorry for what you've been through, how unfair and horrible. Flowers
Hoping you only good luck from now on, and welcome to the thread!

AlwaysaNortherner · 05/10/2018 21:43

@WildFlower2018 I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't begin to imagine what you're going through. It does put my reasons for waiting and my impatience into perspective. Anyway, welcome to the thread. I really hope you get good news in November.

WildFlower2018 · 05/10/2018 22:05

Thank you for the messages and the welcomes - I didn't want to bring the mood of the thread down with my story, just wanted to explain why we are waiting! 🙂Everyone's situations are different and we're all in the same boat, all waiting to TTC, whatever the reason! 💜💜

Oh sorry - random double posting there!

dottydally · 07/10/2018 11:01

This might not be the right place as most of us are waiting TTC #1, but does anyone have any experience/thoughts on reusable nappies/wipes? Lazy Sunday browsing has got me thinking they sound like a good idea but I'm not sure how practical they are.

OP posts:
PastaSauceHoarder · 07/10/2018 11:28

I've not used them before @dottydally, but honestly I don't think I would've managed with reusables when my little one was a newborn. The amount of nappies that they go through is insane, I would've had to have the washer and dryer on 24/7! Though obviously some people do manage so I guess its just down to you really. Smile
I think now that my daughter is a toddler and not having as many mucky nappies then it would probably be easy enough.

Tropicana1 · 07/10/2018 22:31

Gah I don’t seem to be getting notifications for the thread - how annoying!
@wildflower2018 so sorry for your 12 week loss, how awful for you. Hopefully you start cycling again by next month.
@dottiedally I like the idea of them to be eco friendly and not feel so wasteful but I don’t know if the reality of that much dirty washing all the time would actually be unbearable or not!
Only 4 more periods now until I get my coil taken out 😂😉

Rachael321 · 08/10/2018 13:46

The waiting is so hard!!
Feel like every second person I see is pregnant or has a little one with them and I can't help but feel jealous. Had a few babies in my work at the weekend which is really unusual which didn't help matters either.

Talked more with OH about waiting.... and we still don't know. The option at the top of the list just now is to not be careful and just see what happens. No set plans etc and if it happens then great, we will take it from there. And then try properly from April like we had already "decided"

I think the thing that's getting to me is the fact that had I not had the MC in August then I would still be pregnant and we were over the moon with it.... so why now wait?

Jelliestogether · 09/10/2018 18:27

@rachael321 and @wildflower18 sorry to hear about your losses

@rachael321 I know what you mean about feeling like everyone else is pregnant! It can be hard but it'll be totally worth the wait when it's your turn. I just keep telling myself the reasons why we are waiting!

Saying that we are being less careful the closer we get to when we said we would wait til.

Has anyone had this cycle was only 32 days....previous have been in the 40s on average, but this period was very strange and never had one like it! So I don't know what's going on, it was very light - only spots of red but mostly brown (sorry tmi!)

dottydally · 10/10/2018 17:37

@PastaSauceHoarder I think I'll probably stick with disposables. Not sure I can manage the extra washing!

@Tropicana1 are you waiting to have it out then rather than having it out in advance?

@Rachael321 how exciting though! It could happen any time for you..

I'm still counting down and struggling. Our friends have just had a little girl and we went to see them. I didn't want to give her back!

I have turned into a crazy person. After a couple of wacky cycles (37 days rather than 30-32) I am tracking like mad. Thankfully last month went back to normal and I'm religiously seeing EWCM just before/around ovulation so hopefully that's a good sign although I'm not sure when I became someone who analysed the contents of her knickers. I just want to get going nowBlush

Tropicana1 · 10/10/2018 19:13

@dottiedally yea not having it out until we’re good to go - I have the copper coil not the hormonal one, so my hormones and cycles as they are now shouldn’t be at all influenced by it and you can get pregnant literally from the day it’s taken out.
I chose it specifically because I was so done with hormonal contraception and the way it messed with my body and mind! Supposedly copper is such an effective spermicide that the copper coil is a more affective emergency contraceptive than the morning after pill!
Just realised I sound like I’m some copper coil rep or something haha 😂 I’ll stop now

Tropicana1 · 10/10/2018 19:15

Also @dottiedally I am also tracking every twinge and EWCM etc religiously so I know where I’m at when we start. Not at all obsessed or anything :/

AlwaysaNortherner · 10/10/2018 21:19

@Tropicana1 that's good that you've got on so well with the copper coil though! Are there any downsides to having it?

I said to my DH the other day how pleased I was that I came off the pill and he said I should never go back on it, I was thinking you say that now, but realistically, we only want to have 1 or 2 children... Hmm

How is everyone doing? We just ordered a new bed for our spare room and I was mentally planning where you could fit a cot in! I didn't say that to DH though as I think I've been dropping enough hints recently and to be fair he's totally on board, we're waiting because of my job not his.

PastaSauceHoarder · 10/10/2018 22:30

I'm with @Tropicana1 on the copper coil, I've been talking it up whenever I've had the opportunity to anyone who will listen. 😂

It really is good @AlwaysaNortherner, I do recommend it. I only had mine in for ten months or so soon after my daughter was born but I had no issues with it - it was great not to have to think about remembering to take pills or change patches and all that jazz. As far as I'm aware theres no downsides or side effects - its non-hormonal so it didn't interfere with my breastfeeding either which was the biggest selling point for me!

Ahh I know what you mean about the spare room! Ours is a junk room at the mo but we were sorting through it over the weekend. I was mentally painting the walls and deciding where to put the new crib too!

Its now about 45 days until we start TTC - I have a countdown app on my phone. Wink 😂

Tropicana1 · 11/10/2018 11:24

Yes another copper coil saleswoman @PastaSauceHoarder 😂
@AlwaysaNorthener I find my periods are a bit longer on it than they were before. I think some people have heavier periods / worse cramps but I’ve always had bad ones so no difference for me at all really in that respect.
I told my OH he needs a vasectomy after we have our children 😂 he is NOT keen haha, but my argument is I’ve done all the contraception up till now, once we’re done he should take it up. Plus they’re reversible! Thankfully I’ve got a good few years to get him on board with my plan 😉

AlwaysaNortherner · 11/10/2018 17:01

@PastaSauceHoarder I'd like to paint my spare room white with a hint of pink, just because I think it would look nice and would warm up the room, but then I thought what if we end up having a boy and that's his bedroom! May just hold off on the painting altogether for now...

That's interesting to know about the copper coil. I might look into that when the time comes. My periods have been a bit more painful since coming off the pill but nothing unbearable as long as I remember to take ibuprofen.
