New thread ladies! @PastaSauceHoarder @Goostacean @Barker26 @crazychemist @DoveGreylove @springsummerautumnwinter can't remember who else to tag.

I know @cupcakesandglitter has linked us to a new thread but I'm not sure I am strong enough to be surrounded by those TTC already!

@pastasaucehoarder great news about the test strip! Onwards and upwards from here !
My day has been knackering I was at work 8 till 4 which wiped me out after the weekend wedding festivities so fell asleep on sofa for about 3 hrs when i got home ! Spent the rest of the evening convincing DP to let me get 2 bunnies to satisfy my urge to look after something haha!

Pinkroseuk · 27/08/2018 21:29

Great news on the test strips @PastaSauceHoarder. I have bought some - how often and from when should I start using them?

@Barker26 we got a cat when we first moved into a place together and it has helped me needing to look after something! DH carries him to bed each night and tucks him up under a blanket too!

Barker26 · 27/08/2018 21:36

@Pinkroseuk I had a cat once but he was very aloof! He was a rescue though so maybe not used to human interaction... I just need something to love haha!

Pinkroseuk · 27/08/2018 21:38

@Barker26 yes ours was a rescue too- though he was a kitten so not too bad! I ha da bunny once - but always found guinea pigs more friendly and less messy ?

Barker26 · 27/08/2018 21:42

@Pinkroseuk my sister has 2 and they have the run of the garden when home, we have a new build so very secure garden so would probs do the same thing! Would love a house bunny but DP having none of that haha! I find guinea pigs very nippy!

NoseringGirl · 27/08/2018 21:45

Just marking my place so I can keep up with you all even though we've started trying (cycle 4 now though will take a break from trying to avoid another winter baby if we don't manage to conceive by around Christmas). I just wrote out replies on the other thread and realised it was full when when I tried to post 😳🙈
Hope everyone had a good bank holiday!

Pinkroseuk · 27/08/2018 21:46

Sounds like a great plan @Barker26 :)

Barker26 · 27/08/2018 21:52

Hi @NoseringGirl! welcome!

A question for the group- are many of you bothered about what time of year potential DC would be born?

Pinkroseuk · 27/08/2018 21:56

@Barker26 I really done mind what time of the year- ideally not end Feb/March as all family's bdays are there but I personally wouldn't stop ttc any time of the year because of this

PastaSauceHoarder · 27/08/2018 22:16

Ohh how lovely @Barker26, did your DP say yes to the bunnies? My mum has both a rabbit and guinea pigs and they're all lovely and tame.

@Pinkroseuk I just started using them right away! It says to not use them for your first morning wee but other than that you can use them any time in the day before 8pm. I've been using them every day up until my period and then I'll just use them every day after.

I already have a little girl who was born in early June (her due date was end of May but she was eight days late) so I really want to avoid having another baby in that month, hence us waiting to TTC in Sept/Oct. Other than that I'd be more than happy with any time! Smile

starkid · 27/08/2018 22:35

Starkid-
Age: 28
DH Age: 28
TTC #1
Waiting until: October
Reason for waiting: getting a theme park themed holiday out the way first (don't want to have to avoid the roller coasters!)

Also, I have been trying to chart my ovulation in preparation for TTC using the cheap opk's from Amazon, but due to work I've only been able to do them at 6pm each evening and am paranoid I'm going to miss it. Do any of you do them at work? I just can't see it being subtle going into a toilet cubicle for ten minutes with a container for pee! Confused my cycle keeps flitting around so can't really estimate a date at the moment, cycle has been between 25 and 35 days the last 3 months!

Jelliestogether · 28/08/2018 07:07

Ttc #1

Age:both 27
Plan to ttc: around christmas
Reason for waiting: sorting out finances and paying off the last bit of outstanding finance- although it's interest free we hate having any debt!
Keeping busy by going on holidays and renovating the house

Jelliestogether · 28/08/2018 07:09

@barker26 I'm not too fussed on the month baby would be due. In my opinion there's more important things in life to worry about than a birth month. I would just like a healthy baby.

NoseringGirl · 28/08/2018 09:44

I'll just add that the only reason we're trying to avoid a winter baby is that I had quite bad PND with DS2 who was born in January and the long, dark nights made that a lot harder. I need to do what I can to reduce the risk of getting ill like that again. Of course having a healthy baby is important, but keeping myself healthy for that baby and my other kids is important too.

Goostacean · 28/08/2018 10:14

@Barker Did you see the whole thread on that exact question recently? I’m not sure... I’d prefer to avoid an August baby because of being the youngest in the year, plus all your friends are away for your birthdays, ha! I got so so hot when I was pregnant so having my DS in late Jan was great.

Ideally I’d either have a November baby next time, so that Christmas brightens the mood - but only once I’ve recovered from the birth! Or maybe March/April... going into the summer months. But like Jellies said, it doesn’t really matter and it wouldn’t affect my TTC timing.

PastaSauceHoarder · 28/08/2018 10:24

Perfectly valid point @NoseringGirl, I'm sorry you had such a hard time. Flowers

For me avoiding giving birth to another baby in June is important because financially it would be tough on our family - if we had at least one payday in between then it means that we could ensure that both our children get to have parties with their friends/special trips out/all that birthday stuff that kids love in the future.

If I were to unexpectedly fall pregnant in the next two months and end up having another June baby then you can bet everything you have that I'd be completely over the moon. Smile But as this is something that we have some control over, we've decided that there are eleven other months in the year and it would be silly of us to TTC a baby for June.

dottydally · 28/08/2018 14:04

@Barker26 I always thought an April baby would be ideal timing but that was when I thought we would start ttc in June 2019. I think we will now at least be not preventing from January 2019 so there is a chance I could end up with a winter baby. I'm quite happy getting wrapped up and out walking though - anyone that has had a winter baby please feel free to tell me I am being unrealistic!

PastaSauceHoarder · 28/08/2018 15:49

To those using ovulation strips, has anyone else had two positives in a row? I had a positive yesterday and another today! I thought the fertile window was only very small, surely not two days in a row?? Confused

NoseringGirl · 28/08/2018 20:02

@PastaSauceHoarder I think some people have a longer surge while others have really short ones. I wouldn't worry unless it goes on for days (which can happen in certain conditions like PCOS).

@dottydally I definitely went out walking a lot (it was part of my recovery). I had a big baby wearing coat and DS2 was all cosy in his sling.

dottydally · 29/08/2018 11:43

anyone else feel ready to throw the towel in? I mean, obviously the sensible side of me knows I won't, but...

OP posts:
Goostacean · 29/08/2018 15:16

Yep, know the feeling. Baby slept through last night so I’m on top of the world, well-rested, and conveniently forgetting how I was practically on my knees weekend-before-last with tiredness. He’s SO CUTE. I WANT ANOTHER ONE NOW.

This is not helped by watching Jane the Virgin on Netflix (spoiler: she’s a virgin who gets pregnant), and it’s making me super broody.

Jelliestogether · 29/08/2018 15:30

@dottydally yup me!! If only I could convince the other half too!

Pinkroseuk · 29/08/2018 15:34

Yeah - really been feeling it today- someone had there 7 months old in at work!
Wish my body would get its act together and work!
Realised if I ovulate 2 weeks after AF started we will be camping! Poor timing on my part!

PastaSauceHoarder · 29/08/2018 15:54

Oh I absolutely loved Jane the Virgin, @Goostacean! How far into are you?

Oh @dottydally, I am DESPERATE to be pregnant again, I miss it so much. I want so want to give my little girl a sibling to grow up with, I can't help myself thinking how magical that would be.
I practically begged my husband to try just this month and then skip the next two but he didn't cave. Sad

Could you not TTC whilst camping, @Pinkroseuk? Wink

Pinkroseuk · 29/08/2018 15:56

@PastaSauceHoarder I'm sure we will but the blow but bed isn't the comfiest!! Might take an extra duvet this time!
