New thread ladies! @PastaSauceHoarder @Goostacean @Barker26 @crazychemist @DoveGreylove @springsummerautumnwinter can't remember who else to tag.

I know @cupcakesandglitter has linked us to a new thread but I'm not sure I am strong enough to be surrounded by those TTC already!

Hi ladies,
Hoping it’s ok to join? I’m another lurker taking the plunge.
Have had 6 months of married bliss and hoping to ttc from the end of October 2018. Started a new teaching job this month so feeling a little cheeky. Its consuming me a little but I know ive got to put our family life first. Have been brooding for 18 months now (pretty much as soon as we completed on our house). We’ve done lots of work on the house and are ready to fill the spare rooms in the foreseeable future.

So my stats are

Me: 24, Dh: 28
Ttc: Oct/Nov 2018
Reason: max maternity pay

Xoxo

dottydally · 12/09/2018 06:00

@SurfingTheSouthWest welcome! You're a similar age to me Smile I was fine when we first bought our house as I assumed DP wasn't up for having children straight away. Turns out I was very wrong and he was the first to say he wanted to do it!

How long do you have to be in your job for maximum maternity pay? For most it is a year (I know ours is). I also feel cheeky, although not because I'm particularly new, just because I feel like I'm being awkward doing it so soon. But you are right, we have been back and forth on it and concluded that we have to put ourselves first. With a history of early menopause in my family i wouldn't ever forgive myself if I delayed due to work and then couldn't.

Happy hump day all. It's nearly Friday!

@dottydally how exciting! I’ve had to slowly approach the subject over the last 12 months to prep dh for the inevitable. He’s finally come round to the idea so I’m on countdown mode! In theory, I have to have been there for 26 weeks by the 15th week before due date. Which technically means I only have to have been in the job 2 weeks... I’m waiting till October/Novemberto ttc to make sure I can definitely complete my first full year with my classes.
I feel so awful that I’m desperate to have a baby and my department are nonethewiser. It’s a horrible feeling really. Oh wow no you wouldn’t want to miss your chance because of a job! Fingers crossed the weeks go quickly so we can all start ttc!

Xoxox

PastaSauceHoarder · 12/09/2018 21:40

Haha @dottydally, basically I was in labour for over 30 hours and I ended up having to have an epidural because none of the other pain relief did so much as touch the sides (plus I needed anti-sickness injections because the contractions kept making me throw up). Though it was getting stitches after giving birth that was the worst...
Also the little monkey was eight days bloody late!
All in all it without going too much into it, it wasn't a brilliant labour, birth or recovery really - but you can bet anything that I'd happily do it all over again in a heartbeat! Smile

Wow @McHelenz, I bet you can't wait now! It sounds amazing, hope you have a wonderful time!

Hello @SurfingTheSouthWest. Smile Congrats on your wedding and your new job! Your department might not know that you want to get pregnant but you can gabble away to us here, we're all in the same boat! Wink

Rachael321 · 13/09/2018 15:50

Hi ladies
Mind if I join you...?
Been lurking around here for a a while trying to find somewhere I might 'fit in'

I'm 24 and ttc #1 waiting until jan/Feb we think...

After ttc for almost a year we finally found out I was pregnant in July and unfortunately i miscarried early in August. Waiting a few months for everything to get back to normal cause it was a really big blow to both of us. What doesn't help is that AF decided to show up today for the first time since and today was booked as my scan date which has spooked me again..

At the moment the beginning of the year is when we will start trying again although I am looking at moving jobs and going to a higher position so it depends on that too

dottydally · 13/09/2018 19:53

@SurfingTheSouthWest did you have to convince him? I'm pleased he is on board! 26 weeks is good though. Saves you waiting a year.

I say it like it's a pressing issue - I'm only 23 and no one in my family has had any issues until 30, but we own our own home and financially and emotionally stable/ready so it seems as good a time as any.

@PastaSauceHoarder oh gosh! That sounds tough. I'm useless with pain but the idea of pain relief also freaks me out. I guess we will have to wait and see which side wins out when it comes to it! Stitches.. down there... shudders

@Rachael321 welcome! So very sorry to hear about your miscarriage Thanks it is good to let your body/heart heal though.

What is making you want to move jobs?

OP posts:
happytobemrsg · 13/09/2018 20:34

I can't remember if I joined this thread or the last one Hmm

My stats are:
Age: 30
TTC: baby #2 (DS is 2)
Reason for waiting: lots of house renovations & I've gone back to work part time for a while

I'm so rubbish at keeping up with this thread. Work is crazy busy & DS is running rings around me at the moment. The house renovations are taking forever (we started a year ago) & living in a building site is getting me down. As you can tell I'm a bit grumpy today! Sorry everyone

Barker26 · 13/09/2018 20:46

@dottydally we are waiting until December! Purely for financial reasons and the fact we are going to New York on December 6th and Athens in March! Just caught up with the thread hello all newbies! Omg my DPs cousin just announced her pregnancy tonight, 4th baby youngest DC is 3 I think? I know IABU but I'm so jealous :(

PastaSauceHoarder · 13/09/2018 21:06

Don't worry @Barker26, my SIL just publicly announced her second pregnancy yesterday and today we got an invition to my other SIL's baby shower - so we'll just be unreasonable and jealous together. Wink

Hi I remember you, @happytobemrsg! Don't worry about being grumpy, sounds like most people would be if they were in your shoes. What are you having renovated? The end result will be fab but its the getting there thats annoying - I'm so impatient, I'd just want to click my fingers and have everything done instantly!!

Welcome @Rachael321, really sorry to hear about your miscarriage, that must have been horrible. Flowers Hopefully 2019 will be a lot kinder to you.

Don't worry @dottydally, I'm sure when the time comes you'll be absolutely fine! Smile

Forgot to update about the hen do/strippers last weekend - yeah, definitely not for me. Blush

Rachael321 · 13/09/2018 22:06

@dottydally thanks, I'm getting there, good days and seriously awful ones. Wanting to move jobs as I've just completed a management course so will stay in the same industry just move up the ladder hopefully! And hopefully more money and more regular shift pattern, just now I do about 30-35 hours and days and times vary every week. And OH has just got a new job Monday to Friday... and i work most weekends which isn't great.

@PastaSauceHoarder thanks I hope so too!

I'm with you all on the hurt of seeing people announce their pregnancies! Recently saw a friend of a friend on Facebook announce here, with the same due date as I would have had (going by my dates anyway)

happytobemrsg · 14/09/2018 11:20

@PastaSauceHoarder we are doing pretty much everything!! New garden with gym, downstairs extension with a new kitchen, new bathroom, and now doing a loft conversion. I don't think much of the original house is left! We are in the home straight now, but living in a building site is getting me down

Pinkroseuk · 15/09/2018 17:04

Hi everyone - we're just on our way home so catching up on the weeks chat-
Hope everyone has had a good day :)

Manycatsandallthegin · 15/09/2018 17:15

We’ve just had our friend round with her one year old and now im broodier than ever!!!

Considering coming off contraception the end of this month to get my body ready for TTC in Jan, rather than doin that and TTC in jan and potentially being disappointed for several months...

If we fall pregnant before skiing i guess i’ll just have to have a nice week in the chalet reading and relaxing? Theres a hot tub but im sure i read somewhere that you cant use hot tubs when pregnant, is that true?

McHelenz · 15/09/2018 22:02

Yea I think you cant do anything fun. I wont cope with Luke warm baths and decaf...

Tropicana1 · 16/09/2018 16:13

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind me joining. I've been browsing these pages recently and this seems a good place for me to fit 😁

My fiancé and I have just decided that we're going to start trying after our wedding (I'm now equal parts incredibly impatient and quite scared haha). We've actually changed our honeymoon destination so that we're no longer going to a Zika destination so that we don't age to wait an additional 6 months 🙈

Age - 28 (OH 30)
Planning to TTC - March 2019
Reason for waiting - saving for wedding
Current contraception - copper coil

Anyway, hanging around these boards is actually making me more impatient, so I thought I'd join in and share!

McHelenz · 16/09/2018 16:25

Hi @tropicana1! Are you getting married in march then? How's planning going?

We have just sent the pets off on their holidays. I'm now having the traditional pre holiday tidy up!

Tropicana1 · 16/09/2018 17:08

Hi @mcHelenz
Yup getting married in March - planning a going well I think, but I reckon the next few months the stress might ramp up!

Ah I'm already worrying about what to do with the pets for the honeymoon! Glad it's not just me that likes to tidy pre holiday, last time we went away OH was like "we don't always have to come home to a spotless house" YES we do 😂

McHelenz · 16/09/2018 17:14

I want to pay for a cleaner but we need to clean up before one comes 😂😂.

We have a house rabbit and a cat. I've never boarded a cat before but the rabbit goes to a hotel and it's lovely. I don't think the cat is going to like us in 2 weeks...

Tropicana1 · 17/09/2018 17:23

@mchelenz

I deeply want a cleaner because I hate cleaning haha! It’s such a drag but no matter how many ways I try to get round it cannot justify the cost in my own head 😂

You never know, the cat might just be so pleased to see you after 2 weeks that the sin of the chattery is forgotten!

happytobemrsg · 17/09/2018 19:58

Welcome @Tropicana1!
I've made it clear to DH that I want a cleaner by the time DC2 comes long!
Feeling super broody at the moment. Been spending lots of lovely fun time with DS & id love him to have a sibling (if only to teach him that he's not in charge!)

Emiloux · 18/09/2018 12:38

Hi ladies,

I hope you don’t mind me jumping in on your thread..

Stats:

27
Ttc for 4 months
8 days dpo (and going a little crazy!)
AF due 25th September

I usually lerk in the background of these threads but could do with some ttc buddies! X

dottydally · 18/09/2018 16:30

@Emiloux hi! You are welcome to pop in and say hi but we probably aren't the right people for you. We are all waiting to ttc for various reasons, many until the new year.

Many of us are finding the wait difficult, particularly when there are so many babies around us. Hopefully you will appreciate that we are not being unkind and unwelcoming. We just don't feel that we are strong enough to see those ttc all the time.

Wishing you the best of luck though lovely Thanks

Barker26 · 18/09/2018 16:55

Hi ladies I have been very quiet my apologies! Main reason being myself and OH have decided to take the plunge and start trying with a view that we would be very VERY lucky to conceive first time, and if we did then we are comfortable to manage :) I will leave you lovely ladies here, good luck all and hope to see you on the graduate threads in the near future! Much love xx

happytobemrsg · 19/09/2018 19:48

Good luck @Barker26!

We are not TTC (obviously), but it doesn't mean I don't get phantom pregnancy symptoms! Driving me crazy. This evening I was SURE I felt "pulling" just under my belly button like I did when I fell pregnant with DS
