@Cleozeta this is why i ditched the temps in jan, your body does also need a good nights sleep to function best and if it's interfering with your sleep then it's not going to help.... dtd anyway!! As this thread tells us we really have no control over what our bodies do and a sly swimmer could get to his goal when we are least expecting it....

New member posting for first time, hope you don’t mind me joining in. An intro: I’ve just turned 40 last month and TTC actively (using natural cycles and ava) for 4 months, a few months longer without. I was married to a man 10 years older who decided he didn’t want children and was verbally abusive about my body and my friends bodies specific to what happens when a woman gets pregnant (not going in to detail but yeah he was charming). Met the love of my life 3 years ago and we have a great life, blissfully happy, except the patter of tiny feet. We both want children. We’ve just had what we think was a chemical pregnancy; faint positive preg test then period came with clumps. So in theory everything works but with my age we have pondered taking the science approach to see if IVF could speed things along, we are probably incredibly naive (private, nhs in my area don’t offer ivf over 35). Partner is 4 years younger. So just an intro to me rather than lurking, and hoping to see some fellow 40+ folks with success. There is a history of older births in my family including sister at 40 (also her first), granny at 42 so I’m hopeful.

Have u thought how long you'd give it till you started ivf?

@weaseldee, probably one more month, we’re on holiday next week. I’m vvvv impatient (so lots of fun during the 2 week wait), and worried about my age. Partner supportive and tells me I’m being silly, lots of options out there and could be him with a problem for all we know.

Chat - tempted to dtd anyway, but at the in laws so a bit awks!! Bloody typical right. Also thinking might just write this cycle off and try properly next cycle as I'll be starting tcm etc then, plus will have my ava bracelet hopefully. Also this month has been tricky with the late ov after the holiday. But also worried I may not have many cycles left. Argh what to do?!

Ah @Floofsquidge we have much in common! Apart from the previous man which I'm so glad you've found a good one now! I turned 40 this year too and we just had a couple of chemical pregnancies. Am on month 5 now and gonna give it another month before going back to docs to try something else. Keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

So here we are on week ten of no sign of AF and all BFN. Clearly my system is entirely out of whack right now!

It's been 17 weeks since Ollie born and no af, I went to dr who reassured me it's probably stress of Ollie in hospital and passing away as stress can hold back ovulation. He also said if you were having regular periods before you don't just run out of eggs like that and periods don't just stop - they are going to do bloods to check hormones thyroid etc which is being done tomorrow- but today I think af is restarting as have pinky watery mucus not a lot but now it's a bit blood red. Tmi sorry but now am happier as ttc journey can begin providing hormones come back as ok. Sorry ranting but wanted to share as happier about things now- just need a bfp now . Xxxx

It’s been a while since I was here (banned by DH!) and so much has happened! Congrats to those with BFPs and so sorry to those with CPs or no AF at all - I hope you get some positive news soon.

I’m gearing up to start round 2 of IVF - AF is due the end of this week and that will kick off the 2 month cycle. Trying hard to be positive about it after the last go but certainly won’t be going into it with the same naive hopefulness this time.

Ladies!!! Omg weird stuff is happening! I had what I thought was an early ovulation last week, opk positive and all the right temps... temp has been slowly climbing (all good) then I work (tmi) but I had ewcm. So I thought I'd pee on a opk for a laugh and got this!!!!
Was it cleo who said about a second ovulation???? Who knows but I've signed DH up for some dtd tonight!!!

Been using clearblue advanced digital OPK, got static face on CD18 (stayed for 48 hours). Never had it that late in a cycle. But maybe with MC, my cycle is messed up this time? Our first TTC after MC. So not sure how long this cycle will be then?! Around 3-4dpo now. Never been a POAS girl and will just wait for AF. Fingers crossed it never arrives! Good luck who's in 2ww!

Weasle - how interesting! What have temps done now? Did it dip on the day of 2nd +opk? Or stay high? How long ago was previous +opk? On my epic research mission it could be either 2nd ovulation (more likely the closer it was to 1st) a bfp if there was a dip in temp aswell, or non ovulation the first time, although that would be strange with high temps.

I still don't know what is happening here as am away so not been able to temp or opk since +opk on friday and cbfm peak on Saturday. Last temp I took on sunday was still low, so who knows. Will just have to wait and see now when af turns up. Out of interest I will count back and see when ov actually happened and if my thermomitoris squiffy or it's me thats squiffy!
Have definitely had lots of ovary twinges for about a week between just before +opk.and yesterday but I think that may be down to being a week late this cycle.

Karigan - that is a long time! What does gp say?

Angel - fingers crossed your cycle is returning now, stress can definitely put you out of wack and it sounds like you have had plently of that.

Critter - good to hear from you! Fingers crossed for round 2 - kerp us up dated! (If you are allowed!!)

Russ - mine was late this cycle too, 3 momths after mmc, although I think mime may be more down to a holiday than the mc, although you can never tell! Good luck

We're about to try for bub #2. I'm 41 - I had dd1 a month after my 40th birthday, after 2mmc. Slightly complex now in that I had scarring after my c-section which left me with light periods and only 1/3 of my womb had lining (eek) added to which it looks as if the scar tissue might have blocked off one of my tubes . I've had a hysteroscopy to try and remove the adhesions and two months worth of oestrogen tablets to give the old lining a boost.

Not entirely sure how this will pan out but we're going to give it a bash anyway!

All we can do is to give a good bash! Literally haha we had such a sex-athon last week that he wouldn't finish at the end of FW! Haha away to my western acupuncturist and will have another bash tonight 😉
I also use Chinese acupuncturist and the difference is massive! Dr Tan day no pain no gain as she darts her needles in me! 😱😱

Finally got some more opks - negative as anything so looks like my cd13-15 not quite positives last week must have peaked at the weekend when we didn't dtd (although did a couple of times around then). Might see if we can get one done tonight just for the hell of it. We'll be away up to cd29 so have also bought some cheapy pg tests to smuggle away for cd27/8.

Got a -pt today. This part of the cycle is so nerve wracking

I know..hopefully it was just that! I didn't reply as didn't know what to say..same as everyone else prob! I've been ignored on loads of other threads and just try not to take it personally. This thread is different as everyone has been so supportive and it's so hard to keep track of everyone when you're desperately seeking the elusive BFP and trying to stay sane at the same time!!
I thought I'd also have some time out after AF got me but it got me wondering as it was a strange "half AF' which is what I had with DS. Not a proper bleed. The second one like it..only difference is it's early and not nearly 2 wks late like when I didn't realise i was preg. Our cycles constantly have us wondering!!

I think I'm in the 2ww too, no idea what dpo though, and don't stand a chance this cycle anyway as couldn't dtd past Thursday and don't think ov was any earlier than Sunday, so thats me out. Just waiting for af now
