@funkyemzie- thank you sweetie ❤️ I just wanted to say although we are all different & deal with stuff differently with this journey we are all in the same boat!! This thread has been a lifeline for me & I like to think of the original poster as someone throwing a stone in a pond & all of us ladies who are on here are the ripples of that stone full of emotion, advice, knowledge, sympathy, understanding, love & a whole lot more❤️ One way or another our ripples will make the other side of the pond and we will have our 🌈🌈🌈 I know lots of you are again starting your journey & I’m a little up the path but I always everyday see how you all are❤️ I do have a good few hurdles to get over (not just previous mc had complications when I had ds that’s another story!!) but so far I have got over the hurdles and I intend on becoming a grand national winner🐴🐴🐴!! You are all such wonderful women never forget that❤️❤️❤️

hayleyfx · 28/07/2018 10:55

Thank you ladies ❤️

@Jessabean thank you and sorry - I’ve just looked back and realised you got your BFP! Amazing. I’m delighted for you. I hope it’s a very sticky, healthy bean x

@Funkyemzie I definitely see the lines on those tests. Hopefully it’s just taking a bit longer for lines to progress - with this pregnancy my lines took about 4 days to get nice and dark. I’ve got everything crossed for you 🤞

Out of curiosity, what tests can you have done for recurrent miscarriage? We’ve decided we want testing after this pregnancy ends as we want to be fully prepared next time around and if there are any problems, have them addressed. We’re also having a post mortem done on this baby to see if they can find a cause for the encephalocele. Has anyone had testing like this?

Angelbabyollie · 28/07/2018 11:07

@Jessabean congratulations xxxx

Bobzybaby · 28/07/2018 12:01

@hayleyfx during my mc's I had tests done for my thyroid and a blood clotting disorder. That was on the NHS and believe is standard practice.

Those came back clear. I was then recommended to go to Warwick and Cambridgeshire hospital to get tested for Natural Killer Cells. It's research run by Tommy's (check their website). I think there's other hospitals in England that also do it. I'm in Scotland so just went on the advice if my consultant. I had 2 endometrial biopsies done and the 2nd came back for high levels of cells. So I'm on a treatment plan recommended by the professor there. My local EPAS are on board as is my GP.

I'm in my 3rd month of TTC. I know everyone is different but in my circumstances I've been told those tests were my only 'hope'. Otherwise it was just a case of wait and see. Hope this helps x

Yukka · 28/07/2018 12:07

Hi @hayleyfx just catching up - so sorry to hear your news it's so sad. But I found in your post a healthy dose of pragmatism and positivity - hold on to it.

I'm pending test results at the mo for recurrent. They generally check for blood disorders that can cause miscarriage. If I were to loose again then I need to retain for testing. In your case I suspect they'll check for chromosome defects and possibly genetic issues that might be treatable given the diagnosis.

'Most' mc's are put down to chromosomes not forming properly / too many/ too little. There's also new reports of natural killer cells that cause the womb to collapse causing early mc but that wouldn't cause an illness with baby.

There are a couple of other ladies on here that had tests and did find something so now have treatment plans. My consultant said to start aspirin on next pregnancy if I conciege before the results (6 weeks wait).

Hope you are doing ok and glad your dh is looking after you xx

Jessabean · 28/07/2018 12:27

Thanks @Angelbabyollie @Lovemysparkle & @hayleyfx

@Lovemysparkle thank you - that's a lovely way to look at everything -you have such a poetic way with words. 😊 I can't believe you're 11-12 weeks already- where has that time gone! So glad everything is going well though & I hope all goes just as well for your dating scan. You'll have to show us a picture of your wee little one! ❤️

Jessabean · 28/07/2018 12:41

@hayleyfx I haven't been through for the testing as yet so can't give my personal experiences but would recommend this book for talking about the current up to date testing done on the NHS and in research. From what I've gathered there are a few known causes but many of the theories on causes of recurrent miscarriage are still being researched (it's difficult for ethical reasons to do research on these things understandably). But found this book useful for talking through what will happen when you're referred, what the proven causes are and where research is at with things like natural killer cells. Is written by one of the doctors researching and working in the field in St Mary's London recurrent miscarriage clinic. Is the latest version just released on amazon (I pre-ordered it after my last Mc - am such a nerd 🤓)

Just trying to catch up, since Tuesday!!!

@ Jessabean OH MY GOD CONGRATULATIONS!!!

PurpleFushia · 28/07/2018 17:30

Also catching up, congratulations @Jessabean! And I'm so sorry @hayleyfx - such a hard thing to go through. I'm glad your partner is being so supportive and you should definitely stick around.

Think I'm 7dpo now and so heading into the second week of the TWW which is always the harder one! Have almost no symptoms of anything, some cramping and slight boob pain but I know better now than to read anything into random aches and pains at this stage! Going to try very hard to hold out until next weekend to test, we'll see how that goes!

Russkispy · 28/07/2018 19:55

Just wondering when one start ovulating after D&C?! My HCG on Monday was 15. But I have no idea what to expect next?! OV?! AF?

Lilimum4 · 28/07/2018 20:15

@hayleyfx I'm so crushed for you and your partner. I wish there was something I could say to take some of your pain away. Take care of each other and please stick around, we are here for you x

Funkyemzie · 28/07/2018 20:28

Hey guys, had evil pre af back ache all day today, normally it arrives as soon as backache starts but not here just yet.

Not sure how I would have gotten those positive tests now though, is it even possible to have positives and then af? What does that mean? Did an ic this morning and faint line on that but haven't taken pics as phone camera wouldn't pick it up. Confused.com! 😞

robin78 · 28/07/2018 22:05

Thank you for the birthday wishes @knitknitty @bobotheelephant @laney79 and @jessabean and any one else I missed! It has been swell and rolls on as I'm off on my holidays tomorrow! Going to be away for two weeks and am going to attempt unplugging for the duration (let's see how that goes...). I'll be back in a couple of weeks.

@hayleyfx Sorry does not even come close. I am gutted for you. Sending so much love to you and your OH - and ushering you into the middle of the huddle. xx

zarala · 28/07/2018 22:22

@hayleyfx your positivity and your strength is so inspiring. You are really an amazing woman 💕
With regards to testing for recurrent mc's
I am under professor Reagan at St Mary's RMC the author of the book that @Jessabean Shared - but the nhs is quite limited in what it tests for- thrombophillia, other blood clotting illnesses and hormones, they don't do NK cell checks there. The only nhs place is in Coventry under Dr Quenby- I think it's the same research done by Tommy's that @Bobzybaby mentioned. But sounds like a couple more places are doing it.
I have been seeing Dr Shehata- he is very controversial- the nhs really hate his method and don't agree- but he also tests for NK cells. He is available on the NHS and private- based in Espom and London. Dr regan's team think his treatment plans are ridiculous however he has such an incredible success rate that I decided to stick with him.

@Lovemysparkle always such a pleasure to read you! So glad things are going well for you and fx for your 12 week scan! Are you going to find out sex? I love your mum's advice and I am going to try and take it on board when we finally get there! It's almost been a year since my first MC and I feel like I'm ready to turn that page and start fresh and positive and leave all this negative stuff behind me 🙏🏽

@Jessabean congratulations hunny!!!! Fx for a healthy and easy pregnancy for you!!!

@Russkispy every one experiences different! But I ovulated 5 weeks after my first d&C
And I got my period 2 weeks after my second one- so....you just have to let your body do it's thing and see what happens! Sorry can't be more helpful

zarala · 28/07/2018 22:30

Sorry for the weird bold and the terrible grammar- hope my last post makes sense!

Russkispy · 28/07/2018 22:33

Thank you @zarala . Just don't know much about MmC and thereafters. And I believe some of you had D&C before and thank you for taking time to reply!

Bobzybaby · 28/07/2018 22:35

@zarala yup, I was seen by Professor Brosens but it's all part of the research by Professor Quenby (she's the sign off on my treatment). My NHS consultant recommended I contact them. The tests aren't available on the NHS but I only paid about £560.

The options for hospitals / doctors may be different if you're already in England. I've since read that Birmingham and London have hospitals linked to Tommy's research so there may be options closer to you @hayleyfx It made no odds to me because I had to travel anyway 😊

Boboelephant · 28/07/2018 22:53

@Mistymeow so glad they are putting DH back on treatment and fx it works soon!
@YellowDaffodils86 im sorry for the bfn. I still have everything crossed for you. Also sending hugs, it's tough when we feel that we care so much more. I'm sure he does, just probably is trying to protect his heart.
@KnitKitty I hope the witch doesn't get you!
@TedLife sorry you're out this month hun. Hope you're having a lovely night away.
@robin78 glad you had a cracking birthday! Enjoy your holiday and see you in a few!
@Lovemysparkle ahh I really do love your sparkly positivity. Love your mum's mantra and so excited for you and that it is all going well xx
@Angelbabyollie I really don't know hun but perhaps body gearing up for ovulation?
@Funkyemzie I'm sorry love I missed that the line didn't get darker. I hope this is not the case for you but if you have a chemical pregnancy you could get positive test and then af. Hopefully it will just take a few days to get darker and af stays away!!

Fingers crossed for everyone in the tww! I've just started fw, sexy week, bangity bang time. 😂 enjoying all the positive vibes!!

Funkyemzie · 29/07/2018 08:34

@Boboelephant you're right, I'm not sure why I had backache yesterday but I think this morning is pretty conclusive.

Had to leave it a day but it's definately darker today. Xxx

Congratulations @funkyemzie!

KnitKitty · 29/07/2018 08:58

Funkyemzie what a lovely thing to see first thing!! Congratulations! Hope everything goes well from here on in.

Russkispy I don't think I ovulated after D&C. I got my first negative HCG test a week before AF. (5 weeks after D&C)

robin78 have a lovely holiday!!!

Good luck to PurpleFushia and anyone else in the TTW.
Also good luck to anyone in FW.

So, AF hasn't shown up yet which is a bit suspicious given the uterus "pains" I've had the last 3 days. It's not my norm. I usually get facial spots a few days before and then start cramping the day before and voilà. But the last time I started cramping a few days before with a no-show was when I was pregnant. But I can't remember if I had any other symptoms or not!!! How is this possible when it was only in February?!? I have no facial spots at the moment.
The cramping stopped yesterday, but I got a few pinching-like twinges.
I'm now officially late, provided I ovulated at the same time as the last two months (and going by CM this looks likely) and don't feel like AF is about to start... But then I don't feel pregnant either so I'm confused and trying not to get my hopes up in case I ovulated later than I thought this month and am not really late.
OH said I can buy a test today and if period hasn't started by this evening we'll talk about testing.
So, do I test this evening, or wait for tomorrow morning?
Ugh, I'm going to be gutted if AF shows up today.

Funkyemzie · 29/07/2018 09:11

Thank you guys, I had a massive wobble after and just broke down, I'm so nervous but I'm going to take @Lovemysparkle advice and just take each day as it comes.

Huge fx for you @knitkitty I really hope af does stay away! I asked my other half if he could remember back to January when I found out last time and he seems to think I had backache then too. Maybe you did have these symptoms but your brain has just got rid of the memories?

Mistymeow · 29/07/2018 09:11

@funkyemzie that latest test looks strong! Everything crossed!

@russkispy I'm not sure if I ovulated but af arrived exactly four weeks after erpc. We started trying again once the bleeding had stopped (around a week after the op)

Good luck to those going in the 2ww.

@knitknitty I don't want to get your hopes up but I felt like af was going to arrive constantly when I got my bfp. Also some women don't have any symptoms, so it could go either way. I hope af doesn't arrive. I think I would try to hold out testing until the morning unless you have a frer to use tonight. But you do what feels right x

strawberrye · 29/07/2018 09:11

@Funkyemzie congratulations!

@KnitKitty that all sounds very promising test test test!

sweetpea0318 · 29/07/2018 09:21

@funkyemzie congratulations! Fingers crossed for everything x

@knitkitty ooooh sounds promising! Good luck!!!! X
