Support thread for those giving smep a go this month! I’m CD6 so going to start soon. All fingers crossed that this works for us all this month.
Debating whether to buy CB OPK or just stick with IC - might do IC until around FW and then see if I can find a few old CB lying around to confirm a positive.
Anyone else giving this a go?

@NoseringGirl that's really good news eh!!

MrsCatCan2 · 30/07/2018 02:23

Hi ladies! Would like to join this thread :) this is my second cycle with SMEP...good luck to us all!

NoseringGirl · 30/07/2018 08:06

My temp went up again this morning and FF gave me crosshairs which put me at 4DPO. It's only CD12! I did another OPK this morning which was pretty much positive. Such a weird cycle!

Funkyemzie · 30/07/2018 09:51

@NoseringGirl aww what a nightmare! Did you manage to get any action in around that time? X

NoseringGirl · 30/07/2018 10:02

We managed to get some in the day before FF has put ovulation but then I was away for a few days, came back last night and got some in then as well. Hopefully we'll be in with a chance! I was adamant I wasn't going to test early this month though and now I've no clue when I should allow myself to test. Hopefully it'll become clearer over the next few days!

FlapJackered · 30/07/2018 14:55

@NoseringGirl that sounds frustrating. I had that problem with testing when I had long irregular cycles, I always tested going by the last possible ovulation date (if AF didn't show up first).

Was all set to start SMEP yesterday but DH has been ill, so we are already not getting it right! Hoping he will be recovered tomorrow. I am cd10 and ovulated on cd18 last cycle so we have a bit of time hopefully.
I am double opk-ing it this cycle with Clear blue and ICs. My tww will be on holiday though so hoping that won't mess up anything. 🍷 ☀️

piglet81 · 30/07/2018 16:51

Got a +ve OPK and ovulation cramps here today (cd14) so hoping DH is on board tonight as he's been under the weather and SMEP has really not been happening. Fingers crossed...

wheezing · 30/07/2018 18:18

So what do we think, now 13 DPO (couldn’t wait, DAMMIT) and fairly diluted urine I got a squinter on an IC? It is darker than my ICs on 10 days with FMU so that’s something.

Funkyemzie · 30/07/2018 19:25

@wheezing that looks promising lovely!!! I think a congratulations may be in order! Are you going to do an Frer, I'll bet it comes up darker on one of those! X

Stilltryingat36 · 30/07/2018 21:16

Hi

Can I join?

I'm 4 weeks post mc and we tried smep straight away, not really thinking to get pg but to practice.

Did opk so know I ovulated so just waiting for af now.....

wheezing · 30/07/2018 21:43

@Funkyemzie have you tested again or are you waiting a day or two? Although you have a definite positive it would be so good to get a real, dark line.

I don’t know, mine’s still super faint isn’t it? But it hasn’t gone which is the main thing I guess. I’ve got a prime order of FRERs coming tomorrow. Will try not to waste one on an evening test though.

I’m obviously worrying myself by looking at photos of old HPTs I’ve taken. On both the successful pregnancy and the MC I feel like I was getting real progression, although with DS I didn’t test until a few days late. Maybe it’s just a slow starter.

dee7409 · 31/07/2018 09:29

CD6 and on to another SMEP plan..hope i hit the jackpot this month! i am getting weary:(

wheezing · 31/07/2018 12:44

Good luck @dee7409

My FRERs haven’t arrived yet so bought some Tesco own brand. 14 DPO and still a super faint line when I just tested. Couldn’t really see anything on an IC this morning, maybe a squinter. Don’t know how many days more to test, but expecting this to end in a late period at some point.

wheezing · 31/07/2018 15:01

Ugh.

I like the routine of the SMEP plan because you feel like you’re doing some constructive. Now just the waiting stage and I’m just fed up. I can’t see how lines still this light can be good. Need to take my mind off this.

Triskaidekaphilia · 31/07/2018 16:04

Trying to follow the plan this month though I think my OPKs may be buggered, and not been temping unfortunately cos I've lost my thermometer...

So I'm pretty disorganised at the moment but I also have a good feeling about this cycle because last month I had a 29 day cycle instead of 38-50, and I think it's down to having my supposedly expired implant removed.

Had some EWCM CD10-11 and stabbing pain on one side CD12 though it felt too high for ovulation? Sort of just above the hip bone rather than inside it.

NoseringGirl · 31/07/2018 16:45

@wheezing sorry those lines aren't getting darker, really hoping you get a good outcome.

@Triskaidekaphilia all sounds pretty positive, good luck!

My temp is continuing to rise after my positive OPK yesterday but it's been going up since CD6. Such a weird cycle. Will DTD today and tomorrow following the positive OPK, then try to skip a day but we're not always good at that bit.

dee7409 · 31/07/2018 17:03

@wheezing how long you been getting the faint lines? hope it will get darker in a couple of days...good luck

wheezing · 31/07/2018 19:16

@dee7409 Since Friday ... I don’t think it looks good tbh.
I’m wondering if I should start TTC in a less pressured way and not track so much and early test. But I only take OPKs when I get EWCM (and before that try to roughly DTD every other day) and so far the OPKs have always been positive (I.e. the two cycles I’ve tried and the two cycles I’ve got pregnant and the two cycles that haven’t lasted - assuming this one doesn’t) so even if I don’t track properly I think I will know so I’m not sure exactly how I can take the pressure off.

NoseringGirl · 31/07/2018 22:03

I wish I could tell you @wheezing I don't seem to be able to TTC in a relaxed way. I did well with the OPKs this month and only did a couple of days of them but that was only because I was away and then I got a positive earlier than usual! I'm also planning to wait until after AF is due to test but only because DH is going to be away. I'll still be over analysing. I don't want to test early though as I drove myself mad with my chemical last cycle.

wheezing · 01/08/2018 06:44

It’s impossible isn’t it @NoseringGirl ?

If I’d waited to test I would have spared the last few days of anxiety ... but I’d be all excited this morning at my positive and thinking there was hope when I know there isn’t any.

Not that upset, I get that chemicals are a fact of life (assuming that’s what this is.. worst case is an ectopic so hoping it’s not) but I’m just pissed off you know? This morning I’m thinking maybe I’m not even cut out to have another. My two year old can’t even sleep a few hours in a row so god knows how I’d cope with a newborn up every 45 mins as well.

blitzen · 01/08/2018 07:23

Thanks @emzie and @magic xx

Good luck with the testing, @emzie. I will be doing so this weekend I think.

Bas27 · 01/08/2018 08:54

@wheezing am I right in thinking you are 15dpo?
I have a few points that will hopefully make you feel better. :3
First off: I am in no way a scientist. I'm an artist. BUT one thing I remember from science in school was that the number of variables when doing any experiment should be limited to one. So, that means the variable should be how many dpo you are and the time of day (ideally fmu) and type of test should stay the same. Otherwise your results are scientifically inaccurate.

Secondly: the amount of hgc present in a woman's body in early pregnancy is extremely variable. It can range at five weeks, anywhere from 18 to over 7000.

I know it's far easier said than done, but try not to read too much into this. I know it's hard not to worry but what's going to happen with your little bean will happen. Try to just make sure that you're doing everything you can to help in the meantime. Drink plenty of water. Take your prenatals ect. And what will be will be.

If you want to keep testing remember to fix the variables. I would use a frer and an ic together to start with. Then ic every other day for a week, then ic and frer.
Hope this helps and doesn't come across as too bossy. Good luck! 🌈

dee7409 · 06/08/2018 15:12

where is every one...no smeping? i guess you r all fed up like me ha ha
