Feeling deflated ladies!
Recap: I had 3 miscarriages last year at 5,14 and 8 weeks. Each one of those pregnancies I got pregnant first time only having sex once (very lucky I know)
Doc at the time asked if I wanted to be referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic and I said no thinking all would be ok. However I now can't get pregnant, it's only been 3 months but I know it's not like me. So do you think i should go the doctors or do u think at 41 with 2 DC already I'm wasting y time? What tests can they actually do?

Martydog · 11/04/2018 11:10

Hi I haven't posted on here for a few weeks but this morning I got a very faint bfp on an internet cheapie. I think I will be due (if it sticks) on 21 December which happens to be my 42nd birthday. I always said I didn't want a Christmas baby as I hated having a birthday close to Christmas but after my miscarriage in October at 7/8 weeks, I have had the opinion I just want another child. 🤞

starsandstuff · 11/04/2018 11:28

Congratulations Marty! Fx all goes well for you.

Weasledee sorry you're feeling low and sorry for your losses. If it was me I would probably go, just because if they can't do anything you're no worse off, but at least you'll know either way. My GP told me because of my age (41 - 42 in June) - that if nothing happens in 6 months to go back to her for tests - not sure what - but she wasn't saying if nothing happens then there's no hope. I don't think you'd be wasting your time x

MATTSMAMMA · 11/04/2018 13:09

WEASLE - sorry your feeling down. I was 42 and conceived DC2 first time of trying and dtd only twice that month after being told by NHS fertility doctors previous mc’s were age related. After PRIVATE consultations I was told I had high killer cells and high thyroid antibodies (I have under active thyroid). If I was going to have any tests I wouldn’t waste my time with NHS as they’ll likely play the age card in my opinion. Also my private doctor said there were lots of women much older than me. I don’t think I would have dc2 if I’d not gone down the private route. I had to take steroids when pregnant but just for other information’s sake I had to take folic acid, omega oil, vitamin d3 and baby aspirin xx

MATTSMAMMA · 11/04/2018 13:10

MARTY - Congratulations! x

Messyhouse5 · 11/04/2018 14:10

Feeling really down.... no period so did a test and neg, my temp has dropped too so guessing I am just late.

Totally gutted!

Guess I'll be hopping off here.

Good luck to everyone else and wish you all positives

xxxx

Help201602 · 11/04/2018 15:07

Messyhouse I think this thread is to support those over 40 trying to conceive, hoping for bfp. I think it’s normal to feel down, every month seeing a negative result is sole destroying but that is the nature of the beast. I’m in my tww, tested ridiculously early today and got bfn, but couldn’t resist

Messyhouse5 · 11/04/2018 15:29

Thank you Help201602 xxx

I feel bad complaining knowing people go through often.

It's dangerous having tests in the house!!!

Hello all, I’m new on here.. but as I sit clutching a hot water bottle I thought it couldn’t hurt to join..
am 45.. have 3 big ones with ex and 2 with hubby.. ( 7 and 5) had a mc 2 and a bit years ago and have been ttc since then. Not really putting our backs into it in the 1st year but more so in the 2nd. However since the new year I have ditched the temp checking and cervix checking as I think it was stressing me out more.. haven’t touch a drop of booze since xmas and have knocked caffeine on the head too. Herbal teas Are my hot drink choice. Take a pre conception multi vit and try to eat quite healthy ( gosh it’s sooo dull sometimes 🤦‍♀️)
Since jan having been having ov spotting and had a mc at 5.5 weeks last cycle.. this cycle was too 33 days but normally about a 28-30 day girl and I guess due to age pop out a cheeky egg about Day 8..
congratulations to those of you with BFP’s and lashing of baby dust to those ttc ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Chatbash72 · 11/04/2018 18:07

Ooh thank you I needed to see that link.. don’t feel quite so ancient still trying x

starsandstuff · 11/04/2018 18:29

Can I ask about the different apps? I have Clue which I've only just started using so it doesn't have a full cycle to go on yet - it's showing my next due date for AF but not ovulation. Not sure if it doesn't do this or just hasn't enough info yet? I was looking at some other apps that seem to give ovulation info but I don't know if you input that yourself if using OPKs? I don't want to start using them yet, but would like something just to highlight the FW even though I have a vague idea. Thanks.

Help201602 · 11/04/2018 19:07

Hi everyone. I have tried to reduce alcohol intake, really need to cut down on coffee. I need to lose over a stone in weight, as every month for the last 7 months I’ve convinced myself I’m pregnant and begin eating for two but sadly always bfn. I use glow app but it did not match up with my peak identified by Clearblue advanced fertility monitor. I know if I still don’t get my bfp this month I’m going to continue but will probably start taking my temperature too, it is all so time consuming

Chatbash72 · 11/04/2018 19:16

Starsandstuff
I find Kindara app quite helpful

starsandstuff · 11/04/2018 19:59

Thanks. Do the Kindara and Glow apps need you to input information about ovulation (results of OPKs or temps) or do they just work it out based on AF dates?

BooseysMom · 11/04/2018 21:52

littlemimosa..thanks for msg. Stomach really settled down now. Went to docs today and she thinks it was bad period causing it and not a bug. I wondered if it was very early mc as there were more clots than usual. She seemed to think not as cycle is 28 days. I've got blood tests booked for next month anyway.
Hi everyone. ..Lots of good wishes for those elusive BFPs!!Easter Smile

KeepingTheFaith9 · 11/04/2018 23:32

Welcome to Help, Chatbash and MessyHouse
And big Congrats to Marty! Great news!!
Fingers crossed!

Regarding apps Stars I am pondering over using fertility friend as that has good reviews everywhere. I’ve not started temping yet ... like many of us I am thinking it will stress me - esp if I can’t DTD when it says I should!

Glad you are feeling better Booseys.

I am feeling odd after accu yesterday. Some CM and funny pains... I am CD 10 and this should be just before time for me based on 27 day cycle but no positive OPK yet - I’ve just gone back to trying these as they have never worked for me EVER before - I am wondering if I just need to try for longer to see a line.
Anyone else had experience of NOT being able to make OPK work?

Also, can anyone recommend where to buy ubiquinol?

Thanks dear ladies.
Faith x

BooseysMom · 12/04/2018 11:43

Hi Faith..thanks for the msg. Sorry don't know about Ubiquinol.
Can't believe what i've managed to do that's unrelated to ttc but with stress levels the way they are is probably not helping! !...i've totally missed the fact that our pre school is closed Monday. I have to work and have no care. .aagghh! We've been ill for weeks now and juggling work with childcare is ridiculous. .no wonder so many mums don't work!! ...and another reason having another is just not viable for us 😪

Orchid222 · 12/04/2018 19:20

Faith I get ubiquinol on Amazon.

OP posts:
KeepingTheFaith9 · 12/04/2018 22:56

Thanks Orchid. Will check it out - what strength do I need?
Boosey sorry about the childcare hiccup - hope you get it sorted.
I bring hope !!!

Went to meet a friend for coffee today who told me that her sister aged 48 is naturally pregnant with FIRST child! She will be 49 when he is born! Now that is what I call a message of hope .... for us all.

Said friend had her daughter at 43.

Come on ladies - its happening out there every day...

Bring on the BFP's!!!

X

Orchid222 · 13/04/2018 00:02

That's quite a positive message Faith! My ubiquinol is 300mg but I think you can go for 200mg. I just figured the stronger the better and since they make pills that strong they can't be too strong.

OP posts:
MATTSMAMMA · 13/04/2018 00:28

FAITH - loving that message of hope Grin. Thank you . We have to believe x

KeepingTheFaith9 · 13/04/2018 10:43

I know!! My friend delivered it with such a casual air, and said that no one in the family batted an eyelid! Good for her I say. Hope for us all! X

littlemimosa · 13/04/2018 15:01

weasel - i definitely think you should go and get some tests. I don't think you're wasting your time or their time at all. I've been referred and had some tests done (think we're the same age and i have 2 DC like you) and no-one batted an eyelid at my age. You have every right to go and get tests done.Trust me.
I've had bloods, an ultrasound and my tubes checked. Just waiting for DH to get his sperm tests done in 2 weeks and then it's back to the consultant for another review. I'm by no means an expert on miscarriage but i'm pretty sure there are extra tests they can do to check for things like immune issues, thyroid issues, killer cells, bleeding disorders etc. I think after 3 losses i'd be going. I'm so sorry for what you're going thru. I know one of your losses was particularly traumatic, it must be so exhausting. Thinking of you x

littlemimosa · 13/04/2018 15:03

Faith - great post - keep the positivity going, i need it!!

Orchid - i've finally stopped bleeding after my HSG. It was an 8 day period! I must be thoroughly cleansed......

weasledee · 13/04/2018 20:00

Thanks for that little....
I can't help but think some damage was done during my ERPC. Before that I always got pregnant 1st cycle of trying, without fail, even at 41!
Quite worried to be honest, think if it doesn't work next cycle I'll book that appointment. Thanks for the push I needed ladies Smile
