Hello ladies - I’m having a wobbly couple of days. Feeling very un positive in that I’m thinking maybe actually I should give up as I’m too old Sad. I’m 48 - it looks worse when I write it! Feels like I’m talking about t someone else. People think I’m
10 years younger and I certainly don’t tell them otherwise but I’m really unsure now. Don’t know why. I still desperately want another baby but can’t seem to shake off all the negative thoughts. Everyone on the 40 plus threads are whipper snappers in comparison - none 47/48 plus so that’s making me think too.

Hope everyone else is feeling more positive and so sorry for the me me me negative post. Just having a bad day made worse by knowing another month has gone without a chance again as dh been working away this month

weasledee · 09/04/2018 15:02

Hi matts, I know the kind of days you're talking about! I'm 42 soon and I feel the same some days. I was always lucky to get pregnant 1st cycle with no problems. But since miscarriage last year, nothing....
The gap between my youngest would be 6 years and I'm thinking that's too much too......
I can't advise anything but didn't want to read and run....

MATTSMAMMA · 09/04/2018 15:41

Thanks WEASLE xx

Help201602 · 09/04/2018 17:03

It is hard to stay positive matts I’m on cycle 7 which is short compared to some. I keep thinking that it’s not going to happen. However both my children are born in March so I’m wondering if I only conceive in July. I keep saying to myself, if it doesn’t happen this month I’ll give up trying, but the next month comes and I go on trying :/ that’s all we can do x

MATTSMAMMA · 09/04/2018 20:10

HELP - that’s how I feel. Keep saying to myself I’ll stop after just one more try but can’t seem to bring myself to completely stop. Such a mix of emotions l. I remember thinking a couple of years ago I’d be too old at 48 but here I am! x

KeepingTheFaith9 · 09/04/2018 21:40

Hi Matts. Sorry you are feeling glum. It’s hard isn’t it? Sometimes I feel like my entire month is dominated by these hopes and I worry I will look back and regret how much of my thinking this took over - daily, sometimes hourly, but I think that this Mother Nature and to a certain extent we have to accept it and ride it out. I heard a story at the weekend of a friend’s friend getting pregnant at 49 - so it does happen! Take care, high hopes to us all. XxX 🙏🏻

MATTSMAMMA · 10/04/2018 00:00

KEEPING THE FAITH - yes I think the same Sad have I wasted too much time letting ttc dominate a lot of my thoughts/time? It’s so hard isn’t it? Thanks for the positive about the 49 year old though-it just shows it can happen Smile xx

starsandstuff · 10/04/2018 00:17

I don't know how to link threads on the app but there's a thread in Chat about the oldest women people have known who got pregnant. Might be nice to read, quite a few women in late 40s and beyond x

MATTSMAMMA · 10/04/2018 00:35

STARS - thanks for that I will have a look for it Smile. Thanks ladies - it really helps been in this thread with people who get it Wink xx

Orchid222 · 10/04/2018 08:05

Stars- just copy and paste the link from the other thread, that should do the trick. I think we all need to read these stories to keep us going 😀

Wow!! The ages of some of those ladies are incredible. I posted a link on here to an article about the oldest woman in UK to have a baby naturally is .... Wait for it ....59!! So MATTSMAMMA you're a spring chicken! ! I'm 46 and am still holding on to a glimmer of hope of conceiving DC2. Do you feel you're always 10 years behind all the time? I do!
Anyway ..I wanted to know if anyone has had anything has happened like what i'm having atm... I'm currently off work in bed with what i believe is a stomach bug. I have horrible tummy pains, ache and even itch all itch, nausea, diarrhea. I haven't actually been sick though. Yesterday i only managed to eat a piece of toast and a banana so the weight should be dropping off me! So all this co-incides exactly AF making an appearance which is highly suspicious as they've been getting worse and worse lately, esp the build-up. I have nausea every day for a week or even 2 before it's due. Then usually it goes when AF actually starts. So has anyone else had this? I'm so unsure whether it's a virus or a very hard AF!!

MATTSMAMMA · 10/04/2018 10:12

STARS - thanks for the link! Wow at some of the ages - makes you think. So many ladies had babies later in life ages ago too and nothing was said. Seems like it’s the ‘in’ subject at the moment.

BOOSEYS - I can certainly relate to the nausea. I’ve had episodes where I itch and (tmi ) have diarrhoea and itch profusely but I have hypothyroidism and I think it’s linked to that (something to do with antibodies). It’s really calmed down a lot though with a daily probiotic from a company called Optibac. Made a massive difference to me. However the nausea does seem to be cycle related so not sure what’s happening there? I did see a specialist re what seemed like allergy attacks and she mentioned some women have cycles which seem to set off these types of occurrences but they weren’t sure why? Sorry not much help Confused Also yes I certainly do feel like 10 years behind with everything lol! Hope you feel better soon xx

BooseysMom · 10/04/2018 10:59

Hi Matts. Good to know i'm not alone here! Interesting you get itching too.never thought of hyperthyroidism. Thanks for the advice (Btw when i said "itch all itch" i meant "itch all over"!)
It's really weird this af as i have no actual period cramp i usually get but tummy pains right in the middle of my stomach. Also i have more clots this time. Much heavier too. Could it have been a very early mc? It's exactly a month since last af so not over or early. It's usually pretty much regular. But i need to get some tests. They try to get me to have the coil fitted but of course i refuse as i still hold out hope for no.2!
Thanks xx

weasledee · 10/04/2018 11:15

Morning ladies, I've had a BFN at 11DPO so I'm out for sure.
On another thread a lady has just got a BFP after a 10 day DTD marathon!!
So told OH he better prepare himself next month!!! Smile

BooseysMom · 10/04/2018 12:04

Knew we weren't dtd enough!! I don't think i'd ever have the energy to dtd that many times ..esp with DS in with us most nights!!

Winterdown · 10/04/2018 15:52

On another thread a lady has just got a BFP after a 10 day DTD marathon!! *

That is never going to happen. Not even on a desert island. No way, no how. We are in our 40s. Physically impossible!

Winterdown · 10/04/2018 15:55

British mother is the oldest to conceive naturally:

@weasledee wrote "On another thread a lady has just got a BFP after a 10 day DTD marathon!!"

was this with the same man? lol

Orchid222 · 10/04/2018 17:50

Well ladies it IS physically possible but absolutely exhausting. We did it last cycle but, as you can see, it doesn't always work since AF visited me 3 days ago and still going strong. Won't be doing the marathon again since clearly I just can't get pregnant no matter what 😭

Help201602 · 10/04/2018 18:26

I’ve dtd everyday monitor said high plus peak days and day after so 10 days in a row, conceive plus, plus legs in air afterwards lol takes such dedication and obsession, doesn’t leave me time to think of much else. Can but pray it works lol

Messyhouse5 · 10/04/2018 18:34

Hello ladies
Congratulations on all your pregnancies!!!
I think I am on the wrong thread but can't find a 40+ not yet pregnant but hoping... I will find out tomorrow.
I feel a bit of a cheat as we are not actively ttc and dh has no idea how desperate I am for another one but he knows my ovulation time as I always tell him and we did it around that time just not all the way, if you know what I mean. I wish falling pregnant was as easy as many say. So I am crossing everything that maybe it could have happened. I am feeling very crampy and irritable today with some small bits of stringy brown discharge so feeling a little down about it but then I did feel like that with other pregnancies. I also feel very guilty that I have not spoke honestly about how I feel with dh. He has said a few times if we had more money he would definitely have another but I feel if he really doesnt then he needs to be more careful. I did say to him recently if he really doesnt want anymore then he needs to get the snip.... then I won't be so hopeful every month. Sorry for long moan.

littlemimosa · 10/04/2018 18:45

Booseys - i've also noticed recently an upset tummy in the few days prior to AF, not as bad as yours this month, but just general grumblings and a bit ehem 'looser' than normal. Never used to get this! Am 42 now.

Wow those ages of those women are amazing, great thread, thanks for posting stars.

Weasel - so sorry for your BFN, it's very early days yet though? How long is your LP normally?

Nothing to report here. CD6 and still bleeding, it's slowed a lot but i do feel like i've bled a bit more than usual this cycle. I had my HSG last cycle so wondering if it 'dislodged' anything. Hoping my uterus and tubes are having a good ol' flush out:) I live in hope of course.

littlemimosa · 10/04/2018 18:46

Orchid - how's your AF after the HSG? Noticed any changes?

Welcome Messy! Fingers crossed for you.....

Orchid222 · 11/04/2018 07:56

Mimosa- maybe slightly on the heavier side the first couple of days but I havent noticed any huge changes
