Ladies, the old thread has finished, here's a new one.

I on the other hand don't have great news. My gp was determined to get me into epu because of an early mc I had before my DS. I said it might be too early but she said at least they'll see a sack. Well I had my scan this morning and it looks like a pregnancy started but not even a sack visible. There's still a chance it's just too early but there's also a chance the pregnancy isn't viable which wouldn't surprise me given the complete lack of symptoms. So now I have to wait for 2 agonizing weeks for another scan :( and I guess it'll be back to ttc.

Oh Orchid, the waiting is the worst Flowers

Cleozeta · 23/05/2018 16:15

Oh no orchid Sad I hope they are wrong and it is just too early.
Did you go to your gp because you were worried?

Orchid222 · 23/05/2018 16:30

I went to gp to say I was pregnant so she could start the process but I mentioned spotting around the time I got my bfp and an early mc from the past and she she sent me to epu. I now wish I insisted for the scan to be next week not today. I'll get cb digital and see if that's advanced at all, if it shows 3+ maybe there's still hope but if it's 2-3 then I'll know.
Annoyingly I also had a job interview a few hours after my scan. Waited for it for a couple of months and yesterday they said it'd be today. How on earth was I supposed to concentrate on that? So my day has gone really badly, there might be no pregnancy and no new job I wanted on top of that. And I can't even drown my sorrows in a glass of wine because I don't know whether I'm actually pregnant or not. Sorry for the rant but needed to get it out, it's one of those crap days for me. Hope everyone else's is going much better than mine!

Well, this is probably irresponsible of me to say, but apparently it's only once the placenta has formed that drinking can be a problem. Or at least that's what my friends told me to calm me down when I found I was 5 weeks gone two years ago and I had been drinking like a fish the weekend before I found out!

Karigan1 · 23/05/2018 17:54

Ugh what a horrid day Orchid. I hope it works out in the end for you!

KeepingTheFaith9 · 23/05/2018 18:01

Orchid, what a stressful afternoon you have had. Sending you a really BIG hug. Its very early days as the other's have said so possibly just that things are still developing in there. Keeping everything crossed for you. Keeping the Faith for sure and sending a big squeeze. XXX

sparklyglitterball · 23/05/2018 18:04

How confusing orchid! Really not sure how beneficial being scanned at this stage is if it's not going to give you conclusive answers. Maybe a wait and see approach would've been better, considering loads of women have spotting around the time they get a bfp? Best of luck karigan, sounds promising!

Orchid222 · 23/05/2018 18:44

Thanks ladies. Well I guess I got my confirmation. I did a cb test and it showed 2-3 weeks, same as 9 days ago so clearly my hsg level has not increased and the pregnancy is not developing so I'm now just waiting for the inevitable.

Oh orchid I'm sorry.... this ttc/pregnancy thing is so hard, thinking of you x

Orchid222 · 23/05/2018 19:09

Thanks weasle. I never got too excited about it because the lack of symptoms just wasn't like me but still, I'm sad and disappointed. Hopefully things happen quickly now so I can get back to ttc and if I don't get a bfp in the next few cycles we'll be looking at IVF.

Oh Orchid, im sorry you're having a worrying time. Waiting it out is so hard. I want to say you never know, there still is hope, but i know that's not always what you want to hear if you have an inkling things arent positive.
@keepingthefaith, im currently using the older CB digital opks (£20 for 20 tests) as a treat to myself...tragic i know. Essentially i got them to see if my system had regulated after my loss. Ive been testing twice a day since cd11 as thats when i thought my surge usually came. I usually use ic opks as they are cheap, but did give them up with after Christmas and i got my bfp in early March.

AtrocityNeedles · 23/05/2018 20:17

So sorry, Orchid Flowers. Hope it all happens quickly and without too much discomfort.

Chatbash72 · 23/05/2018 20:25

Orchid222 keeping everything crossed for you 💕💕💕

weasledee · 23/05/2018 21:00

Sadly orchid I could have written your post. Last October is when mine stopped developing at 6 weeks (found out at 8 weeks) and I too knew it wasnt right. I always start with HG at 6 weeks without fail, but I had no symptoms. It's all pretty rubbish tbh...

Orchid222 · 23/05/2018 22:11

Thank you all. I keel wondering why does it have to be so damn difficult? I mean is there anyone on this board who has not gone through a mc? It should be easy, you get pregnant and 9 months later there's a sweet healthy baby in your arms...

OP posts:
littlemimosa · 23/05/2018 22:47

Oh Orchid I’m so sorry to read all your updates. The optimist in me is saying that it’s very early to see anything on a scan but I understand your instinct is telling you otherwise. I’m not sure how much you can read into the CB digital either, I’m no expert but those things cannot be an exact science. How far along would you expect to be? Thinking of you x

littlemimosa · 23/05/2018 22:51

And yes I agree it should not be so damn difficult. Human fertility is crap. I had a miscarriage once but a good few years ago aged 35 but have since gone on to have another healthy baby aged 36. Since I’ve been ttc this time I’ve not had anything at all in the way of a bfp. Not one single squinter. Both scenarios are depressing.

PollyIndia · 23/05/2018 23:05

So so sorry to read that orchid. What a horrible day :(
I am same as you mimosa. Ds was born on my 37th birthday after not trying at all, and now been ttc now for 18 months with nothing at all. I suspect i’ll end up on the ivf Train too. Just going to give it until September ish and see where I am.

hmmm123 · 24/05/2018 00:13

Sorry to hear your news Orchid..

I've just come on.. very late CD 38....

Good luck to everyone

Chatbash72 · 24/05/2018 07:27

Orchid222 2.5 years ago, preg but no symptoms, scanned at 9 weeks but little one stopped growing at 5 weeks... sending big hugs and lots of positive baby dust that it is coming your way... 💕

CritterTamer · 24/05/2018 07:57

Just catching up here after a few days away dealing with some really crappy times at work and I’m so sorry to see your posts Orchid - my heart goes out to you and I hope you’re doing ok.

I start my IVF journey today with the first set of meds so feeling a little more hopeful and excited than of late - egg collection is due around 18th June if all goes well!

Cleozeta · 24/05/2018 10:11

So sorry orchid Sad if it has gone wrong for you I hope it happens quickly so you can try again soon. Apparently we are more fertile after mc so you never know.

Human fertility is shit, epecially at our age unfortunately. I had been so lucky up till now, 2 easy healthy pregnancies, and then after 40, over a year ttc followed by a mmc. Nature is clearly not keeping up with modern times as so many people are not in a place to have kids until late 30's early 40's in modern day.

So whats the deal with IVF? Will it lower your chance of mc as they select the best egg? How long would the process take and how much would it cost (on average)? I'm seriously considering options now, as at 41 and perimenopausal I am aware time will soon be out and there will be no options left (we will not do donor egg). I definitely do not have another year left to be ttc again.

KeepingTheFaith9 · 24/05/2018 15:48

Cleo “Human fertility is shit, epecially at our age unfortunately. I had been so lucky up till now, 2 easy healthy pregnancies, and then after 40, over a year ttc followed by a mmc. Nature is clearly not keeping up with modern times” That is SO true. Will it ever catch up ? I’m sure 50 years from now they will be doing all sorts for older women. For now - I think that education for young girls about fertility and how it jumps off a cliff at 40 should be a high profile PSE topic. I really wished that I had frozen eggs in my 20’s and I will encourage my DD to do this. 😊

KeepingTheFaith9 · 24/05/2018 15:51

Mini - I’ve found 20 clear blue digital on amazon for £20 but does the digital monitor last for up to 20 ‘goes’ - I thought someone said they only lasted for a certain number or uses? Thanks. 😊
