40+ ttc: 2018 is full of bfp's!

Ladies, the old thread has finished, here's a new one.

faith where I live you can't get clomid (or cloned, sadly!) from GP, have to get referred to gynae/obs and they assess and prescribe. Then they do internal scan when you're about to ovulate to make sure your lining is OK (clomid can prevent it thickening) and that only one egg is maturing. So if you're thinking about it I'd make the GP appointment now to find out if s/he will prescribe it (I think some do), because if not you'll want the referral asap - eight week wait for my appointment this time round.

I am so peed off with this cycle. No idea what’s happening. Had a sports event at the beginning of the cycle which seemed to boot ovulation back a week. I’m normally predictable around cd10. Opk peak on Cd 16. 15dpo now and up to a few days ago no signs of anything. None of the normal LP sore boobs. Now at 15dpo they are getting more sore every day. BFN on 12dpo on Frer. Wtf is going on.

Pretty sure I’m not pregnant as got that slight darker tinge on the panty liner that’s not exactly spotting but darker than the rest of the cycle (and says AF is coming) and negative at 12dpo.

I’ve had bloods done other cycles and was ovulating.

Normally I’m so regular it’s timed. Cd10 o. 7 dpo boobs hurt. Dpo 14 start spotting and boobs stop hurting late dpo 15 or dpo 16 AF arrives.

Btw, i'm having bloods done next week when i'll be a few days into af so i'll report back on results. Last time i had them done was about 2 years ago and the receptionist just said they were normal. I never asked for precise results so will def ask this time as i'm so old now it will be interesting to see what they are now. I must be going into peri men. by now surely! I thought i was last time and it turned out to be a huge surprise pregnancy! I had given up ttc as i had 2 mcs and the last was 8 weeks and bloody painful. I'd given up taking folic acid and never took pre conception vits then DS happened so unexpectedly and yet i was lucky in that i had very low risk tests. I must admit i think what boosted my fertility the most was good diet and Pilates and gentle exercise and keeping a normal bmi. But ttc no.2 is just impossible like they say. You're so much tireder, older, much less fit in my case!

STARS that really made me laugh!! I would not want to clone my GP as he's a twat. To be honest, I think a lot about changing GPs and now might be the time.... Shiny, I wonder how much it would all cost privately... maybe I need to enquire.

Karri - total headfuck - I'm with you on it. My BBF and I are having daily WhatsApp chats regarding our MIA periods and ovulation!! She is 44, I'm 43, we are wondering is this the beginning of the end, and then I remember - people have babies at 48 - yes and 49 and we have to keep POSITIVE!!! Love to all you girls and good luck with bloods Boosey... I'm on CD 33 - no sign of anything but my boobs look fuller today (maybe it is all that chocolate I keep gorging on!!!? xxxx

I'm so glad I found this thread, you are keeping me vaguely sane.. Day 25, ov on day 7, think had implantation bleeding which I have never had before on Day 14. Boobs have been huge for weeks and now really hurt. Teary, moody, hungry hot mess.. and have been bullied into a family weekend where my sis and her 1 year old and my preg sis in law will be there.. whom I love but I don't love my witch of a mother who has ignored my kids ( yes I have kiddies) and was an absolute hateful woman when I had my miscarriage 2 years ago at the same time that my sister had a miscarriage too.. am trying very hard to stay calm as I think if there is a possibility of a little bunch of cells that needs a calm environment then I need to try very hard to have an inner calm.. x

I’m 11dpo and also trying (and failing) not to get my hopes up. I’ve had massively tender, aching, burning and sometimes stinging bbs and nipples since 2dpo, some really strange pulling and cramping sensations between 8 and 10dpo, weird vivid dreams for the last 4 nights and now suffering little dizzy spells. All of this is completely unheard of for me so really hoping they’re positive signs, but you never know just how much of it is in your imagination! Hopefully at least wont have to wait too much longer as my LP rarely lasts longer than 11 days so this weekend should tell 😊

Like you guys, I’m so glad to be part of this thread, it gives me inspiration and encouragement not to give up hope xxx

Well AF came for me this morning, which wasn’t unexpected, but still heart breaking after all the positive signs for the past 10 days or so. DH and I have made the difficult decision to go for IVF next cycle whilst there is still a reasonable chance of it being successful - it’s really scary (I hate needles!) but having made the decision I do feel a bit more positive that at least I’m doing something to take control if that makes sense?

Sorry for rambling on - guess I just needed to get it off my chest as feeling so low this morning.

Hope everyone else is doing ok - any news Chatbash, did you test yet?

Hi Critter I am sorry that all the positive signs turned into AF - very disappointing, send you a hug in view of this. I guess the IVF is a good chance for you at a time when trusting your own body to do things naturally is becoming a challenge. Personally, I would love to have the chance to do IVF but my DH is not keen, it is one of many things we disagree on - he feels the paying for a private school education for our only child is more important than having a 2nd - but that is a rant for another day (grrrrhh!)
I hope you can enjoy the sunshine today and it brings you some relief. I am still awaiting AF - now @ CD 35 and she is now officially a week late!!

@CritterTamer not tested yet.. only 27 days.. my sis in law is sporting a lovely 6 month bump and I am v jealous but v happy for her too.. v emotional and have nearly ripped Hubs head off this morn for being a twat.. but that could be normal behaviour 🤦‍♀️ boobs still hurt like hell.. so will keep you posted.. so sorry af arrived.. xx

I have been lurking on and off for over a year and have finally decided to come out and say hi. I am 41 and longing for number 3. I have a 12 and 11 year old and sadly had a mmc in September. Hubbie and I finally feel brave enough to get back on the emotional rollercoaster. Looking forward to joining you all. Currently cd7 and just dusted off the opks.

@ Faith - you’re exactly right - I just don’t trust in my body any more. Every test comes back perfectly normal - they even said I have hormone levels expected from someone in their late 20s but regardless still never a hint of a BFP 😔 I guess now at 40 with no children I feel like time is running out and I don’t trust my body to get it right in time - I’m feeling like the problem is my short LP it never seems to make it past 11days despite having good progesterone levels. At least the IVF feels like I will be taking control. Frustratingly I was supposed to call the clinic on CD1 to do the treatment plan when / if we decided to go for it and that’s now today and the clinic is closed until Tuesday grrrrr!

I use Proceive Max if that helps?

@Dee - I can’t help you sorry I dont use those OPKs I use the CB ones with smiley faces they are much simpler!

@Chatbash - hope you’re ok and your hubby has forgiven you! When will you test? If you O’d on CD7 wouldn’t you be 20dpo by now?

@critter I am using Metformin and Clomid I bought frm online pharmacy as gynae said I am too old (43) and need to lose weight..cost almost £70. never felt ovulation before but I am definitely feeling my right ovary doing something. currently cd13 and I think I have been getting +ve opk result all day today. tested 3 times 12, 5 and 8:15pm all the same. first time using n e thing..my youngest is 13yrs..want this last one.

@CritterTamer I'll test at 30 days..

Critter - sorry AF arrived. I know that feeling only too well. I strongly suspect I am a day or two behind you with my AF as I’ve got all my typical pms symptoms. Don’t feel pregnant at all. It’s cr@p isn’t it.

Blessed - welcome. I’m also ttc #3. Am so desperate for a last baby and have been for ages now. I think it’s coming up to two years I just turned 42 and although my blood results and ultrasound were good, I’m waiting for results from an HSG abc hubbys sperm test.

Critter- sorry about AF and good luck with IVF, I'll be joining you on that journey soon. Just negotiating with my husband when. I said I'll give it 1 more cycle without the stress work was causing me, he wants to give it 3! I'm telling him that while my chances of conceiving through IVF are 15-20% now in 3 months time they will be even lower. He says he gets the age thing but he's not the one whose biological clock is ticking so loud it keeps me up at night :(

Mimosa- sorry you're feeling down, I'm in the same boat. Cd30 and waiting for the witch to arrive in 2 days, not feeling pregnant at all and 0 symptoms:( so looks like HyCoSy certainly didn't work for me in terms of improving fertility.
