Gosh just catching up with the thread a lot seems to have happened!

Whispering congratulations WEASLE! BOOSEYS and CHATBASH - sorry to read your families aren’t the most understanding. Can totally relate as I have a sister who just
doesn’t get it so I feel I can’t talk to her
about not only TTC but a lot of things now
sadly. She is judgemental to say the least Sad

ALI - really sorry to read about your chemical. I’ve had quite a few of those and know the emotional rollercoaster they cause

At my end just waiting for AF in a month where we didn’t even get a chance to dtd so definitely out but hoping to have a another shot this month xx

CritterTamer · 15/04/2018 21:37

Hi all I’m new here and so glad to have found this thread and see the positive stories! I’m 40 and been TTC for 4 cycles but felt like I was the only one - everywhere I read doom and gloom about how I’ve left it too late and it’s been an awful few months. Congrats to all here who have had their BFP!

Can anyone offer any advice on hormone levels pre IVF? Had FSH and LH tested CD3 last cycle and results were 5.4 and 4.7. Also AMH was 10.4 and endometrium 6.8mm thick. Ovulated on day 13 but this cycle has ended in a very weird early period - only 1 day of medium flow but 4 days of brown spotting and I’ve never had anything like this before. Is there an6 hope for @ natural pregnancy at 40 with this work up or should I go straight for IVF? (HSG X-ray is booked for Tuesday).

Any advice would be very welcome xxx

Orchid222 · 15/04/2018 22:33

Welcome Critter! I'm no expert on results but they seem perfectly fine to me. That being said, we recently concluded here that we shouldn't pay that much attention to the results anyway. A lady whose results weren't that good and was told to she was in perimenopause recently got a BFP. At 40+ we're still very much fertile it might just take a bit longer and believe me 4 cycled is not long at all.

In terms of HSG, it's said to improve fertility for the next 3 cycles so the next cycle or the cycle after that might be your lucky one.

Do you do opk/temp to make sure you time dtd right? You might also think about sending DH/DP for sperm analysis and if you're worried and don't want to wait, look into a fertility clinic appt. There are other things they can do besides IVF such as IUI for example so worth looking into it.

Is this going to be your 1st?

There were recently 4 or 5 BFP on this site and I think everyone was 41 so it's not all doom and gloom 😀

Hi Orchid - thanks for your reply. Yes this would be my first, and DH has been amazingly supportive and had his semen analysis done which was all normal :) Ive been using OPKs for the last couple of months and they seem to work well - always show smiley face at same time as EWCM anyway!

I am worried that I sometimes get a short LP which seems to have happened this month, and that there’s a slight chance this weird period ive just had could be breakthrough bleeding and if there is even a tiny chance that I’m pregnant the HSG on Tuesday would be a very bad idea. Took HPT this morning and it was BFN, wondering if I should test again before the HSG just in case?

Orchid222 · 16/04/2018 06:32

Critter, did you dtd this cycle? I had a HyCoSy done last month which is similar to HSG and it was stressed I do not have sex between cd1 and the appt date to make sure I'm not pregnant because the test wouldn't go ahead otherwise. They also took my urine sample to check on the day. I imagine the same goes for HSG, were you not told that?
Mimosa, I think you had HSG last month, were you told the same thing?

CritterTamer · 16/04/2018 07:33

Hi Orchid, they did tell me to abstain from CD1 yes but didn’t mention there would be a pee test on the day so that’s reassuring to hear. I know when I ovulated this last cycle and yep we DTD every day on the 5 days before and on O day. Also felt what I was sure were implantation cramps 7 dpo and as this period has been so abnormal just a little worried that the BFN might not be right. I’ve read many posts by women who had exactly this after a short LP then got a BFP 1to 2 weeks later.

I’m less worried now if there’s going to be a pee test though so thank you!

Orchid222 · 16/04/2018 07:54

The only issue is that if you are pregnant and the pee test doesn't pick up the hormone yet because it's too early.

Hello can I join pls? I am 41 and after not being sure about another for a long time I've just started to try for another this month. Ds is 5!
I've been using the ovia app for a while and started ovulation sticks this month but I've had negative results throughout the fertile period predicted by the app. I'm now on CD17 so am a bit confused as cycles are generally 25-30 days

Chatbash72 · 17/04/2018 09:06

@hmmm123 hello,
My Ovia app says ov in 8 days.. but I'm in the ov zone now.. and on Day 8, I think it takes a couple of months to read your body and work out your own signs of ov.. good luck x

Karigan1 · 17/04/2018 14:38

Ahhh that moment when you’re using clearblue advanced opks so need first morning wee. Need to wee at 4am so do the whole pee on a stick thing then drop the whole blasted thing in the loo. So no idea if it’s happening today and have to buy a new one 🙄. One of those days lol

weasledee · 17/04/2018 15:25

Ladies, not good news, I've started to bleed. Not too surprised as the line was very faint.....
Fed up at being back to day 1 but onwards and upwards.....

hmmm123 · 17/04/2018 15:42

Sorry to hear that Weasle. How far along were you?

Karigan1 · 17/04/2018 15:50

Sorry to hear that! How badly? Is it possible still? I read somewhere a third of all pregnancies have some bleeding in the first trimester.

CritterTamer · 17/04/2018 16:18

Sorry to hear that Weasle,! Fingers crossed that everything is still ok for you xxx

hmmm123 · 17/04/2018 17:06

Is there a page with everyone's stats on it? Eg age and how long TTC? I hope there are also quite a lot of success stories as I am increasingly worried I've left it too late ☹️
Otherwise would you mind introducing yourselves for my benefit!! I'll go first ...

I'm 41.. haven't yet started TTC really but have been using OPks for the last week. All negative even though ovia says I should be within fertile window . I have one ds 5 years old.. i was v lucky with him and conceived within 2 months .. I hope I will be lucky again but I am very aware it's much harder now!

KeepingTheFaith9 · 17/04/2018 18:28

Weasle - hope there might still be a chance. Keeping you in my thoughts. X

KeepingTheFaith9 · 17/04/2018 18:36

Hmmh123 - good call:
Then I can keep all this info to remind me - at 43 my memory ain’t what it was!

I will be 44 in Aug. Have a daughter who is 3, will be 4 in Aug. I got pregnant easily at 39 in 2013, had a blighted ovum found at 12 weeks. Successful birth with my DD in 2014 - nightmare delivery as she came @ 29 weeks after I suffered a placental abruption.
Not to be put off - I conceived again in Oct 2015 after trying for 2 months. Pregnancy wasn’t viable - found that out at 7 week scan. I’ve now been trying for 2 years. Nothing doing. I am taking lots of vits and doing TCM (accu and herbs) but my cycles are light and recently annovulatory.
I have good and bad days in relation to my feelings about things. I love my job but I love my daughter much more and so the chance to refrain from work again and add to my family is something I pray for.

This is a good thread for ‘Keeping the Faith’

Blessings to us all!
Faith 🙏🏻 X

CritterTamer · 17/04/2018 20:36

I’ll join in!

I turned 40 in December and been TTC since then. No children and terribly afraid I’ve left it too long. Trying to keep positive though as all hormone tests etc. are coming back really good and we should have a decent chance with IVF if we can scrape the pennies together!

Just back from my HSG test today - wow nobody warns you just how painful that is and how crappy you feel afterwards!

Alibaba2 · 17/04/2018 20:38

Sorry to hear that Weasle - how many days are you?

I had a chemical pregnancy / very early miscarriage last week.

I had a good feeling at ov and post-ov as I had some great symptoms and am sure my hormone levels were good. Plus ov was a bit later than usual which is good for me. Anyway, I had usual spotting and terrible PMT so presumed it was game over. I even had a beer at 13dpo.

Then I woke up in the night with cramps and thought AF had started. When I woke in the morning, boobs were huge for the first time in 2 years! I felt flushed all day but chilly as well.

The next day I could smell everything - falafels, green tea (very specific)!

I thought with symptoms that strong, hormones must be good and thought MC was unlikely. AF didn’t arrive on due date.

But then I woke up next day to bright red blood.

Back to the drawing board indeed.

Anyway, that was my first cycle without epo which is interesting. Perhaps epo isn’t good for early ov-ers in case it brings ov even earlier?

weasledee · 17/04/2018 21:54

I'll join in....

So I'm 41 and have 2 dc. Been trying for 12 months for no 3 and had 4 miscarriages in that time. 2 very early ones (including today) 1 at 8 weeks and one at 14 weeks.
I don't seem to struggle to get pregnant but I don't seem to be able to keep them going. I'm going to ring docs in the morning and see if they can suggest anything??
Wondering if to give up soon?

Messyhouse5 · 17/04/2018 22:38

Weasledee - sorry to hear. I experienced this last month and posted a very similar image of the test on here as could see a faint line. It was the day before I was due and I started bleeding the next day. I have promised myself to not test every again until I am at least seven days past my due date. As this has happened a few times to me over the years and just gets my hopes up. I remember going to my gp and he said all these super sensitive tests cause so much heart break as they pick up pregnancies that are not going to stay and women before would have had no idea and just had their period a little late. But I know this is pointless for you to read now and it doesn't change the fact how you must feel. Sending hugs xxxx

weasledee · 17/04/2018 22:43

Hi messy I was thinking the exact thing today. Women who aren't trying to get pregnant and not actively testing must have early pregnancies that fail and they just think their period was late! I haven't experienced this before, but I did think it was odd as I always get a strong line from 11DPO. So I did think it would fail but still it's disappointing. Not know if I can keep putting myself through this?

hmmm123 · 17/04/2018 23:35

So I've just started bleeding ( sorry if tmi!) which is weird as I'm not due AF for at least1.5 to 2 weeks. I'm only on CD17 and they are normally 25-30. I hope it's not the menopause starting!!

It's typical that my periods have been regular for the last year and as soon as I start TTC they go haywire!

starsandstuff · 18/04/2018 08:20

I'm sorry to hear that weasle x

Hmmm123 I'm 41, no DC. Was very happily child-free with my xH. But am with someone else now and we feel like we're meant to have kids together so it's the last chance to try. He has 2 adult DD. I'm going this morning to get my copper coil removed so will be actively TTC next cycle (I've missed the window this month, AF due around 24th April). We're just going to take it easy first couple of months as in no OPKs or anything just plenty of DTD Grin I'm prepared for it taking a while or not happening at all and I've only told one friend we're going to try - she's TTC too but is a few years younger - so I'll be posting here for support.

KeepingTheFaith9 · 19/04/2018 09:20

Good morning! How is everyone? Nothing doing my end but as the sun is shining I am remaining positive. CD 18 for me, so AF hopefully scheduled foro 9 days time (I say that only because last month she was 12 days late and I want to get back to 27 days!!) I would be happy not to see her, but only for a BFP and I don't think that is likely as only DTD twice and had no idea when I ovulated (grrrh!) In spite of this I will remain optimistic. I have 3 weeks of acupuncture and herbs before I put this to bed, after 4 months I just can't afford any more, so then it will be back over to the hands of the almighty!!
Have a great day fertility sisters! Love and light, Faith. x
