Hoping to find some ladies in a similar situation to either help keep the crazy at bay... or provide company to safely let it out! Grin

DH and I had planned to wait until May-ish to start trying for #2. Our DD is 15.5 months and we are due to complete on our new house next month so wanted to wait. I am still BF but only a couple of times a day. Periods returned at 8 months and have been every 29-33 days since. Downloaded the sodding Ovia app last month, "just to start monitoring my cycles"... instead I am already devoting an unhealthy amount of time to staring at it and subsequently became fixated about DTD on my ovulation day (usually around CD18-20). Successfully managed to seduce DH during DD’s nap this weekend on CD18 and am now descending into madness checking CM and wondering about every minor twinge! Blush

So I guess we are now officially TTC! The madness, upset and hoping begins again!

Please tell me there are some of you in the same boat?!

Ooh maybe it was a mini AF! That would tie up with the fertile CM and opk. I've ordered some more opk strips for this month. Although I got a positive on them last month the few days before were full of almost positives, then definite negatives, then almost positives again. It was so up and down I really don't know when my true surge was. Think I'll try the strips again then maybe do the digital one next time if it's not clearer. They're probably more hassle than they're worth Hmm

Naschkatze · 04/04/2018 21:23

Can someone explain how to use OPKs?
Work out what CD to start testing and then... ? When do you test? Do you test more than once a day? And continue for how many days?

8DaysAWeek · 04/04/2018 22:11

I read today somewhere you start testing on your cycle length minus 17 days. So if you have a cycle of 28 days you start on CD11. For most opks you aren't supposed to use FMU. I believe CB is FMU though. As long as you test at the same time every day it shouldn't matter when you do it, but ideally after 11am as LH starts to build up in the morning so any earlier and it may not detect much. Most people choose either around 2pm or 8pm.
I would test once a day every day until the lines get darker. Some people have a long fade in pattern, for others the test line turns dark quickly. Once you see the darkening of the line test twice daily (so 2pm and 8pm for example). Most LH surges last 12-24h but some can last as little as 6h, so if you only test once a day you may miss it.
You should ovulate 12-36h after your first positive opk (though can ovulate up to a few days after). You theoretically can stop testing once you get your positive, though some women like to keep testing to see how long their surge is. I'm not sure if there's any benefit to that.

Totally loving the BFPs ladies. Currently on cycle 10 after coming off the pill and on CD25 today. AF very irregular but the past few months it has been 24 days. Forcing myself to wait until Saturday to POAS as feeling no symptoms at all. But with DS had none either except a sore head.

Naschkatze · 05/04/2018 07:14

Thanks for the comprehensive response 8days. Really helpful!

8DaysAWeek · 07/04/2018 07:53

How's everyone doing?

Any updates Fifi and Kurly?

Do you think you ovulated this time Cherry?

Hope everyone is well Smile

CherryO88 · 07/04/2018 09:32

I think so 8days! The CM has stopped. DTD the day of my positive and the day after. Didn’t manage it yesterday as we were travelling (again!). So will see. I’m not expecting BFP tbh but would settle for my cycles getting shorter and back to normal!
Has AF finished up for you?

8DaysAWeek · 07/04/2018 14:01

Fingers crossed for you! Yep, CD9 now. It's crazy how quickly the first half of your cycle goes by when the 2ww drags so much. No idea when/if I'll ovulate this month. Last month I had loads of ewcm for about 5 days before a positive opk so I'm just gonna wait for that to show then start testing. I've been charting my temps too so will be interesting to see if that tells me anything.

Bluebelltulip · 09/04/2018 10:31

Just spend the weekend with IL's, lots of hints about when we might have another, hard not to say 'well we are trying'.

CherryO88 · 10/04/2018 20:07

How’s the temping going 8days? I have to admit I know very little about it but may need to start!
Still no AF. 8 days late now and possibly 5dpo (if I even ovulated). I’m finding it a lot easier to relax now as I’m pretty sure I’m not pg. Hoping AF will show on time!

KurlyWurly88 · 10/04/2018 21:19

Hey - thought I’d drop into the thread and give an update since that very faint BFP last week.

Well, 6 days after the Clearblue 1-2 week result - -and retesting 2 Tesco cheapies with strong postives- - in the week, I had some very light spotting.

After lurking on other threads ‘it’s implantation!’ ‘Brown not red is okay!’ and ‘a line is a line’ were the frequent posts.

7 days after clear blue (and no further spotting) I retested praying for a ‘2-3 weeks’ progression, but ‘1-2 weeks’ stared back at me.

  • - googling Clearblue Digital reliability- - which again, have had a bad rep. However since then, the spotting has developed into a proper heavy-period bleed Sad

Sooooo.....all in all, I’ve been ‘pregnant’ for a week, but in my heart I’ve never felt it. I’ve had no symptoms, and didn’t really ‘feel’ pregnant at all. That very first FRER bfp (and the bfn cheapie) didn’t fill me with much confidence.

I’m not too sure when we’ll actively start ‘trying’ again, I’ve no idea what this will do to my cycle!

I’m actually okay - I’m treating this like a very late AF, I might be lurking on here picking up tips on ttcing Grin

I just thought I’d let know what the follow up was...! Good luck everyone

KurlyWurly88 · 10/04/2018 21:22

O - I’ve a doctors appointment tomorrow, to see what my follow up should be, but I physically feel fine in myself. Hoping that I won’t need any ‘medical’ help.....

I totally got the mumsnet emphasis wrong in my post! Hope you can still understand it

CherryO88 · 10/04/2018 21:29

Oh kurly huge hugs to you Flowers everyone was so pleased for your bfp. Sounds like you have the right attitude treating it like a late AF and I’m praying that your cycles aren’t affected too much. Be kind to yourself xx

Bluebelltulip · 10/04/2018 21:39

@cherry hope you get a definitive answer soon. @kurly sorry to hear that, being relaxed going forward is a good plan.

HidCat · 10/04/2018 22:27

@KurlyWurly88 so sorry to hear this. Big hugs to you and hope everything is ok going forward.

TTCnamechange · 11/04/2018 10:09

Hi all, new here and late to the party.

Been ttc no 2 for 2+ yrs. DD is 3. Hoped for a 2 yr age gap. Obviously that didn't happen. It's been lovely being able to focus on dd for so long tbh, but cant help but be a bit disappointed she hasn't got a sibling to play with by now.

Have incredibly varied cycles anywhere from 21-35 since dd, but I recall a 42day cycle in the past too.

Currently on day 38! Worked out my avg since dd is 30days. Got woken by dd at 3:45 mon morning, couldn't get back to sleep and found my head going round and round pregnancy things. Being super aware of every twinge, and figuring out due date etc. 😔 Gave in on a weak moment when I got up and did an out of date clearblue test but was bfn.
I try to not get my hopes up but as you can tell I have!!
Everytime I go to the loo I expect to see pink. I'll be devastated if/when I do.

Nice to read about some bfps and fellow slightly obsessed hopefuls.

Fififiesta · 11/04/2018 13:58

Hello everyone.

Sorry I have been not posting for a while, I was getting very anxious about if I was pregnant and in the end DH gave me a good talking to we agreed that testing wasn't helping and that we would wait to see if AF showed up and if she didn't then we would test when we were together which is frustrating because of our work schedules in the mornings.

So we waited

No AF this is not unusual she is irregular.

I tested yesterday and got a very clear BFP! Grin
I checked again this morning, yep BFP GrinGrin

We are of course delighted but we have been heartbroken when we were trying for DC1 so not counting on anything yet.

I need to catch up on the rest of the thread when I have more time but hope that you are all well xx

8DaysAWeek · 11/04/2018 18:15

Kurly I'm so sorry to read your update :( there's no other word to describe it except shit. So so so shit. Thanks

8DaysAWeek · 11/04/2018 18:33

Fifi that's wonderful news!! Congrats to you and DP!!

Temping is going well. First few days I couldn't sleep due to the anticipation of having to temp! Mental. But I think if you don't take it STRAIGHT after you wake up it can skew results. Though tbh I took it half way through the day the other day and it was basically the same with a difference of about 0.02 of a degree...

I'll be interested to see if/when I ovulate what happens! CD13 right now. PreDS I o'd around CD17/18 so still a wee bit to go, though this is my first proper cycle after giving birth so I'm expecting it to be all over the place Sad

Still struggling to fit in dtd with a non sleeping toddler 😩

HidCat · 11/04/2018 19:35

@Fififiesta congratulations! Hope all goes well this time around.

Fififiesta · 11/04/2018 19:39

Kurly so sorry to hear your news, hope you are doing ok

8 days temping sounds like a fun hobby Grin it must be interesting though and makes TTC a little less boring.

8days and Hid thank you for your congratulations Grin

When do I get chucked out of this thread then?! Wink

8DaysAWeek · 11/04/2018 19:46

Lol it does give me something to do I guess 😂 hoping it keeps me from POAS during the 2ww!

Haha you'll never get chucked out. Maybe we will get a graduate thread running one day! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Fififiesta · 11/04/2018 21:10

8days "my hobbies include pilates, cooking and taking my BBT" Grin

CherryO88 · 12/04/2018 07:49

Aw Fifi huge congrats! Wishing you a sticky bean Smile
CD39 for me Confused currently no sign of AF but also do not feel pregnant. Have now diagnosed myself with low progesterone (I need to stop myself googling). Pregnant SIL tried probing me last night whether I was pg and talking about having 2 under 2 and sending pics of her bump. Happy for her obv but made me sad!

ImMrsBrightside · 12/04/2018 08:43

Hi all. Just a quick check in from me in between the painting and unpacking so apologies if I miss people or haven't read stuff properly.

Big congrats Fifi! Wishing you a happy pregnancy!

Kurly I'm so sorry. I hope your DP is looking after you. I hope we see you back here when you're ready.

We have managed to squeeze in a couple of attempts but I think I missed my most fertile days - AGAIN! Not feeling too down or stressed as I'm so excited (and shattered) to be in the new house. Will post properly soon!
