Hoping to find some ladies in a similar situation to either help keep the crazy at bay... or provide company to safely let it out! Grin

DH and I had planned to wait until May-ish to start trying for #2. Our DD is 15.5 months and we are due to complete on our new house next month so wanted to wait. I am still BF but only a couple of times a day. Periods returned at 8 months and have been every 29-33 days since. Downloaded the sodding Ovia app last month, "just to start monitoring my cycles"... instead I am already devoting an unhealthy amount of time to staring at it and subsequently became fixated about DTD on my ovulation day (usually around CD18-20). Successfully managed to seduce DH during DD’s nap this weekend on CD18 and am now descending into madness checking CM and wondering about every minor twinge! Blush

So I guess we are now officially TTC! The madness, upset and hoping begins again!

Please tell me there are some of you in the same boat?!

Hi Kintan!!!

I am (slightly) ashamed to say I don't give up alcohol in the TWW anymore. I did for a bit last time but I stopped after a while when it took so long. I don't drink much and even less these days (I would rather have a good night's sleep!) but if I want a glass of wine I will have one! Will stop completely when I get a BFP, didn't even have one glass when pregnant with DD as just didn't fancy it.

I am due to exchange on our house today and will definitely be having prosecco tonight if we do! AF supposedly due tomorrow or Sunday and I am experiencing mild PMT (I get very irritable!) so I'm expecting it.

But before the PMT I was symptom spotting Kurly! I felt slightly nauseous the other morning and decided it was because I was pregnant. Not because I hadn't had breakfast BlushWink

Enjoy the prosecco tonight ImMrsBrightside hope the exchange goes smoothly :)

I was feeling nauseous yesterday and thought that was a good sign - until I spoke to my dad this morning (who I’d seen on Tuesday) who said he’d come down with a mild stomach bug! So that explains that ☹️

It’s so hard not to symptom spot, but I do remember that when I got my BFP with my son, that month I’d had absolutely zero symptoms so was quite surprised when the test was positive. But thinking about it probably most of the ‘symptoms’ we spot are just our normal menstrual cycles that we don’t notice unless we are TTC 😂

8DaysAWeek · 23/03/2018 11:30

I rarely drink now that I have DS. My alcohol tolerance is now really low so even a few drinks and I have a sore head the next day so it's not worth it! But I'm seeing a pal tonight for a night in with drinks and he's going through a tough time and is really looking forward to this so I think I'm just going to do it. I did read that at this point in time our baby's don't share a blood supply anyway so it shouldn't matter??

Oooh good luck today MrsBrightside, hope it all goes well.

How have you still not tested!?

Kintan I'm pretty sure I had sensitive boobs with DS, but you're absolutely right. Most symptoms we see are just due to normal rising progesterone levels. I actually read an old and loooong 2ww thread last night where the women was updating 2-3 times a day from 5dpo with all of these pregnancy symptoms she was having. Turned out she wasn't pregnant! 2ww is a mind killer.

Lookingforadvice123 · 23/03/2018 11:31

Can I join? We were going to wait until June to TTC as ideally we’d like a spring baby (DS age 2 is Boxing Day!) but decided to try this month as I’m all to aware that it’s not always straightforward, almost all my friends with children have had miscarriages Sad

I was very lucky with DS, fell pregnant cycle one and no major issues. I only came off the pill end of a February and had the usual withdrawal bleed, so we DTD 3 times last week in what Ovia says is my fertile window, but who knows if I’ve even ovulated yet to be honest. I was off the pill 8 months before we starting TTC for DS and my cycles were very regular.

I’ll be skipping April and May TTC as if I catch in April, the due date will be the same as DS’s was (2nd January) so not risking another baby at the same crap time of year! Then I’m skipping May as I have a long weekend away planned with friends and AF would be due while I’m away, don’t want it to spoil the weekend if I realise I haven’t caught that month!

AF is due good Friday if it’s 28 days like last time I was off the pill, so we shall see! No TTC for me until June if I’m not pregnant this month though.

ImMrsBrightside · 23/03/2018 11:45

Hi Looking! Great that there are so many of us now!

Sorry to hear about your friends. Is that miscarrying the second time around? I don't know how I would handle that Sad

I heard that too 8Days and to be honest when I conceived DD I drank loads. I had what I thought was AF and went out for an all day drinking session... turns out it was implantation bleeding Blush Anyway, I don't drink even a quarter as much as that now, literally a glass or two here and there and I don't think that will make any difference. I hope you enjoy your drinks tonight!! Wine

Oh and I defo had sensitive boobs last time! It was what prompted me to test as they were so sore it was waking me up at night. But that was after what I thought was AF/the implantation bleeding so would have been around three weeks by then!

Looking interesting what you say about your DC birth date. We were all sayings while back that Xmas would be a bit rubbish... now I don't care and just want number two! Wink

Lookingforadvice123 · 23/03/2018 12:16

Hi MrsBrightside! Not necessarily with the second, some with the first pregnancy and then they’ve gone on to have healthy babies. One friend had a MC before her son and one after, but is pregnant again. It’s just horrendous and I hope I never have to go through that but I know how common it is. What prompted me to say fuck it (literally Grin) and TTC in March was I met up with a friend who had a MMC at 12 weeks, her little boy is only a few weeks older than DS, and she was just saying how she didn’t feel ready to try again for the foreseeable future. It made me realise you just can’t plan for these things. I’m hoping for a 3 year age gap, give or take a couple of months, and DS will be 3 on Boxing Day this year.

As I now have one Christmas baby I will definitely try and avoid another! It’s not the end of the world and at least DS’ birthday is always on a bank holiday, and family are already around so it’s easy to do a little family party. But let’s be honest, it is a crap birthday! And I wouldn’t want the added expense/complication of having two at that time of year! One is doable! DS was due 2nd January but he was a week early. Saying that if by some miracle I am pregnant from last week’s DTD, the due date would be around 7th December!

Fififiesta · 23/03/2018 13:47

CD14 here. I bought a cheap OPK this time not the ClearBlue smiley face one. I tested yesterday and today the line is getting darker but its not as dark as the other line (control? the one that is always there lol) so does that mean not positive yet but getting closer??? I should have bought the more expensive kit lol

8DaysAWeek · 23/03/2018 14:34

Hey Fifi yeah that's usually the case! You want to be testing at least twice a day from now until you get your positive. For reference mine didn't darken until Saturday and the positive came on the Sunday, so it can be quite quick.

Fififiesta · 23/03/2018 14:39

So I checked the OPK test a minute or so after using it and the line looked lighter but now it looks almost the same maybe a tiny bit lighter so is that pretty much positive?

I will test again later. We DTD the last 3 days so hopefully that will give us a good chance if it is and hopefully we can try again tonight.

KurlyWurly88 · 23/03/2018 15:10

Congratulations @IamMrsBrightside! Definitely have a few proseccos - it’s something to celebrate!

I was thinking about the alcohol thing today too - I have a hen party tomorrow night! It’s funny how my psychosomatic pregnancy symptoms have disappeared today - knowing there is a prospect of a night out Grin!

I got absolutely hammered almost every weekend the month I conceived DD (I wasn’t thinking about having a baby) I felt so guilty afterwards, as I didn’t usually go out that much!

On the other hand, I have a friend who didn’t drink TTCing, it took nearly a year - which is a lot of missing out, and constantly thinking about the following 2 weeks of what ‘might be’.

I’m not sure what I’m going to do tomorrow - it might be my last chance for a year or more!!!

KurlyWurly88 · 23/03/2018 15:16

Feck it, I’ll have a few Wine

I’ll probably be the oldest anyway. My cousin is just 30 - all her mates will be in their late 20’s and early 30’s I guess and childless. I won’t be able to keep up with them! I’m not used to it!

I’ll prob end up coming home early.....

8DaysAWeek · 23/03/2018 15:48

I'm gonna have a few G&Ts tonight. I'll be forking out for taxis because I'm drinking so may as well not waste it by only having one or two! That's my reasoning anyway Grin

Fififiesta · 23/03/2018 15:51

OK so I took another OPK, good thing they are cheap Grin and it was definitely positive so FINGERS CROSSED. I will be DTD tonight if we can and we have done the last 3 days as well so cant do much more right????

I am relieved that I am at least ovulating!!

Hope you all have fun tonight with your drinkies, I dont get to go out much these days but I agree there is no point in having just one or two Grin

8DaysAWeek · 23/03/2018 16:14

Yay how exciting!! So you should ovulate in the next 12-36 hours. I would dtd tonight and possible tomorrow or Sunday night too (if you can manage!).

Remember though (and hate being pessimistic but just wanted you to know) you can still get positive opks and LH surges and not ovulate :( only a temp shift will confirm ovulation.

8DaysAWeek · 24/03/2018 07:54

How's everyone this morning?? Anything planned for the weekend?

I decided not to drink last night (taxi issues, easier driving) and I'm glad I didn't. One of my dogs was up through the night being sick and of course early rises are standard now Grin

Bluebelltulip · 24/03/2018 08:15

O dear @8days that does not sound fun. My DD has had me up since 6 and was unsettled over night. I've got to pop into work for half an hour both days which wouldn't be too bad buts it's an hours travel each way. I hope your weekend plans are better.

ImMrsBrightside · 24/03/2018 08:16

I did drink last night....got a bit carried away celebrating the fact that we exchanged. All I can say is it seemed like a good idea at the time! Confused

OP posts:
Fififiesta · 24/03/2018 13:00

8Days sounds like a good choice, is your dog ok?

MrsBrightside Grin well done well done!

OPK negative today so I guess that's it. I dont do temping so I dont know if I did ovulate. DH and I DTD yesterday and the 3 days before that so hoping thats enough. Confused

ImMrsBrightside · 24/03/2018 13:27

CD1 here. I'm now hungover with a toddler and period pains! Shock Aside from feeling rough, I'm feeling ok about it as was expecting it. On to cycle two then! And at least I don't need to worry/regret drinking so much last night (aside from the fact that it feels like someone is beating my head with a shovel that is!)

OP posts:
ImMrsBrightside · 24/03/2018 13:28

Sounds really promising Fifi! Hoping you've cracked it!

OP posts:
Fififiesta · 24/03/2018 13:35

MrsBrightside oh no, sorry to hear that AF arrived but at least you partied it out in style! Best of luck for Cycle 2.

I have everything crossed this month but we haven't DTD more this month than any other and no luck so far...Sad

Lookingforadvice123 · 24/03/2018 14:57

Sorry to hear about AF Mrsbrightside

I drank in the TWW with DS! I don’t drink as often now anyway but if there’s an occasion during a TWW I definitely will! I don’t think the placenta takes over until later anyway, does it?

Kintan · 24/03/2018 17:53

Ahh boo to getting your AF mrsbrightside but I’m glad you had a fun night! 8days I hope your Saturday got better after a rough start!

8DaysAWeek · 24/03/2018 18:04

I had a great day in the end! The three of us went to gymboree in the morning then straight to a safari park. DS had a brilliant day. I'm knackered!!

Fifi you dtd more than I did this month, your timing sounds spot on too. Welcome to the 2ww!

Congrats on it all going smoothly MrsBrightside! Glad you managed to celebrate (and I hope your hangover is starting to fade haha). Sorry to hear you're on CD1 but I totally understand that 'starting fresh' feeling. Hoping this month is your month ❤️
