Thread five!

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

@pinkdonkey wow, that GP sounds awful! Hopefully no one so ridiculous will have any part to play with you. Hell, I was diagnosed with depression a few years ago! Hope that’s not gonna count against me...

pinkdonkey · 18/03/2018 06:36

@Pibbee I suspect you will be OK with depression, especially if it has been treated. DHs MH problems are rather more serious and enduring and I also suffer with depression anxiety and PTSD which doesn't help.

SoozC · 18/03/2018 07:28

pink, thanks, yeah I know it won't really influence our ttc, just being lighthearted as I wait for af again!

Any sign of af yet sooz? Went for a wee this morning, nothing when I wiped but getting a bit niggly down there so I’m hoping that means my weird brown bleed on Friday isn’t all I’m getting for this period. Fingers crossed she doesn’t show for you!

Also, after 18 months of this nonsense I really should know the answer to this but how long after your first positive opk do you ovulate? I got that really strong positive Friday afternoon. Friday eve I got just a normal positive and another normal positive on Saturday morning (I know you’re not supposed to do opks once you get your first positive but I can’t help myself). So if my first one on the Friday afternoon is the only one that actually counts, when would I have likely ov’d? The Friday was cd13 so I expected it to be cd14 when I ov’d. But could I have ov’d as much as 48 hours later? Meaning my af is actually meant to start today not tomorrow?

I’m just a bit confused as to why I had very obvious brown blood this Friday night but didn’t start af yesterday morning as that’s my usual pattern. Brown spotting on 13dpo then red bleed on 14dpo/cd1. I’m worried my flow is getting really inconsistent with stopping and starting :/

WonkyDonk87 · 18/03/2018 10:05

No period.
No pregnancy.
Thrush.
FFS.
(Soz for the TMI ladies 🙈😂)

SoozC · 18/03/2018 10:11

Ouch, Wonky, sorry to hear it! I hate thrush.

No, Bubble, no sign. But every chance maca moved my ov date so I'm pretty clueless. Going to wait another week. I woke up yesterday full of hope, very strong feeling, but I really don't want to see a bfn so not testing yet. I am, however, going to cut down on caffeine and not drink alcohol, just in case!

Regarding ovulation, I believe it's 12-48 hours after first pos opk. So yes, possible you're due af today. No more blood of any description?

OP posts:
Bubblegum89 · 18/03/2018 10:20

Oh no wonky thrush is awful!

sooz ooh that’s good! I totally get you waiting to test though, nothing worse than a bfn :( and well just as taking a test is the best way to bring on a period, it seems so is posting on here lol put my mooncup in this morning, just went to the loo and took it out just to see as I’ve been having a few twingey cramps and sure enough there was a little drop of blood in there. BUT it was bright red. Literally only a drop but I’ve not had bright red fresh blood the whole time I’ve been ttc, only dark red or brown so I’m hoping that that’s a good sign that my periods are maybe getting a bit healthier

Si1ver · 18/03/2018 10:57

That seems positive @bubblegum89

Fingers tightly crossed for you @SoozC. I hope next weekend brings you some good news.

I ovulate today, my husband's flight back had been cancelled due to snow. That's my last chance before we start IVF gone. I don't know why I'm even surprised.

pinkdonkey · 18/03/2018 11:28

Hugs S1lver, so frustrating! Jump on him when he gets home just in case though.

SoozC · 18/03/2018 11:39

Oh crap, Si1ver, you couldn't make this ttc shit up, could you? Sorry to hear it. Stupid snow.

Bubble, that sounds positive? Fingers crossed for some more red for you today, it would be great for you to see a healthier period.

OP posts:
Justwaitingforaline · 18/03/2018 11:52

Bubblegum I can totally relate to that. When we went to the GP last time, it turned out I had a nasty case of BV which I hadn’t known about and since the antibiotics ( vaginal cream) my periods have been red and healthy looking, not almost black in colour like before!

CD 11 today and I’ve just had the weirdest EWCM. Sorry for the TMI but it was honestly like wallpaper paste 😶

Bubblegum89 · 18/03/2018 12:25

Oh si1ver that’s crap. Will he be back tomorrow? The fertility dr told me that dtd the day after ov is actually the best time.

sooz not sure whether it was because I took the mooncup out right away so the blood wasn’t sitting there for a while. Not sure if blood gets darker if it’s in the mooncup for a while or whether it’s dark because the lining is crap. Hoping when I take it out to clean it later, there’s lots of nice red blood lol I’m cramping now so fingers crossed.

I don’t have any infections are anything (apparently) justwaiting but dark blood to me doesn’t indicate healthy blood so I’m hoping this is a good thing! I get cm like that too but usually right after I ov

Si1ver · 18/03/2018 12:39

Thanks for the sympathy lovelies.

He'll be back tonight, but not until midnight. I'd planned a lovely dinner for him and some energetic sex after a week apart. Instead it's going to be some quick and mechanical shagging and I'm bloody bitter about it.

It's been a long and shit week, highlights have included an emergency dash to the vets after the dog poisoned herself with chocolate and my husband having a seizure while he was abroad. I might try setting my hair on fire later to see if that makes things better.

SoozC · 18/03/2018 13:54

A seizure? Si1ver, I hope he's okay?!

Bubble, when I used my mooncup (for many years but changed back to pads in the last year or so) I'd take it out after a few hours and there'd always be red blood. So for me it didn't darken much in the cup. Unless you're leaving it in there ages?

OP posts:
Si1ver · 18/03/2018 14:31

He's fine @SoozC, he's epileptic. But he been a year seizure free and just about to start driving again so this feels like a massive set back for him. Also he's always scared and confused post seizure so I feel bad that I wasn't there to look after him.

We had a video chat which helped him a bit.

HidCat · 18/03/2018 14:57

@Si1ver sounds like you've had a hell of a week. Glad DH is ok. Big hugs 🤗

SoozC · 18/03/2018 15:17

Very glad he's okay, even though he's a bit shaken. I bet you can't wait to have him home again! x

OP posts:
Bubblegum89 · 18/03/2018 15:18

sooz spoke too soon. Just checked my mooncup and there was about half a teaspoon worth of dark red/brown blood. Don’t know why I get my hopes up for things.

pinkdonkey · 18/03/2018 15:19

S1lver if it's any consolation I'm about to enter fw and not convinced DH will be well enough to dtd at all this month. He's not completely on another planet but he's not fully on this one either at the moment.

SoozC · 18/03/2018 15:24

Hmm, Bubble. Is it possible there's red blood but it's just mixed in with some brown? As in, you had a short red bleed then some brown and they've mixed? So frustrated for you.

OP posts:
Si1ver · 18/03/2018 15:36

pinkdonkey that sounds miserable. How things pick up soon.

Si1ver · 18/03/2018 15:36

Hope, not how. Sorry

Justwaitingforaline · 18/03/2018 15:50

Si1ver hugs to you. I care for a child who has severe epilepsy and I know just how tough and scary seizures can be Flowers

JaggyJobby · 18/03/2018 16:43

@SoozC haha it was a very timy wedding and we went on the mountsin fir pics! We looked mad, which is fitting really.
Hope ypu get some good karma your way!

@pinkdonkey hope your DH gets better soon.

@Bubblegum89 I call that the "period shit" ha, it is also what starts of my periods without fail!

Oh @Si1ver what a nightmare with the plane cancellation 😡 is your husband okay after the seizure? Also hope your dog survived. That does sound like an awful week.

pinkdonkey · 18/03/2018 17:04

Thanks guys, it usually takes a year or 2 to fully recover but should be able to get back to ttc in the next month or 2 hopefully, like I say crap timing with the fertility clinic referal though. He's not as poorly as he has been in the past though so hopefully the recovery won't be as long this time.

S1lver, hope that plane gets in soon.
