I thought we could keep each other company while we wait!

Your age/DH age: 29/39
Baby #: This will be #2
When are you TTC: I think we should start in June when DS is 2 but we are so broody it might be sooner
Why are you waiting: We are doing some house renovations at the moment & sorting out some stuff financially. Everything seems a bit up in the air & I can only stress about a couple of things at a time. I'm looking forward to life settling down only to have a newborn mess it all up again Grin
What are you doing to keep busy?: I'm project managing house renovations & enjoying one-on-one time with DS before he (hopefully) becomes a big brother. DH & I are having a huge joint birthday party in September for my 30th & his 40th so I'm enjoying planning that!

@cupcakesandglitter hi guys, just joining.

Ive seen the plaques you could send where it has a bit of slate on and the .. days we become grandparents. Could write how many days you have left on there?

rollerskaterdata · 18/05/2018 18:29

Self confessed symptom spotter here too Grin, I'll deffo be cray by the time we start TTC!

I know this is quite common but I've always liked it - I plan to get my DS1 a t-shirt saying "I'm going to be a big brother" with our scan photo on it, and see how long it takes them to notice when we go over to visit!

dottydally · 19/05/2018 18:01

So, I'm planning next weeks meals. Where do I head - aldi or lidl?

cupcakesandglitter · 19/05/2018 19:00

What are you going for/planning on buying? I'd say Aldi definitely!!

dottydally · 19/05/2018 19:22

@cupcakesandglitter

I'm thinking:

S - roast beef
M - home made pizza
T - fish pie
W - toad in the hole and veg
T - hunters chicken
F - vegetable lasagne

Pinkroseuk · 19/05/2018 19:41

Some great ideas for how to break news to OH and parents- I said we would wait till I'm 3 Months to tell the parents but it will be hard to keep it a secret that long I think!

@dottydally the meal plan sounds great! I'm really bad at planning meals- though we do always cook from scratch as find it cheaper I don't plan at all what we're going to have that week!

cupcakesandglitter · 20/05/2018 00:46

@dottydally definitely Aldi! You'll get some great veg for pizza, and I ALWAYS buy my lasagne sauces from Aldi! I actually prefer their white sauce to the M&S one!

Let me know how you get on I'm easily entertained 😂----

dottydally · 20/05/2018 16:21

@cupcakesandglitter it was a success! I spent about £60 all in so £20-£30 less than normal. This should cover all meals all week (neither me or OH buy lunch at work as it's so expensive and I usually prefer homemade as I get exactly what I want) And I bought toiletries etc so I'd say it was a 'normal' week. I'm a bit of a stockpiler when things are on offer so tend to add to the 'spares cupboard' most weeks. It does mean I don't ever have the last minute panics when my deodorant runs out though!

I actually make my own white sauce so I've never tried either! I'll keep it in mind in case I'm in a hurry or lazy one night.

Has everyone been able to enjoy the good weather today? I love the sunshine! My OH isn't so keen (poor thing is ginger so burns in a flash). I on the other hand am tanned (think Meghan Markle but slightly darker) so once a day on the sun cream is enough for me Grin

Amz8898 · 20/05/2018 21:39

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever
Yeah I have picked out the cotbed , I've been looking at buggy and maternity dresses wtf . I'm at a wedding in sept and expecting to have a bump Hahaha my god I'm crazy . Well it's the last day for my injection today ..... my boobs are killing, I'm soooo tired had little naps all weekend and I'm so spotty Shock. I hate all these symptoms feel like I'm pregnant obviously I'm not I don't think it's just my hormones sorting them selves out . Oh I also bought a diary and I've been marking day we've had sex also any symptoms I've had !!! My partner thinks I'm crazy Haha . It's awful isn't it I never had this problem with my first it just happened ! I'm so impatient now xxxxxxx

rollerskaterdata · 20/05/2018 22:36

@Pinkrose I also don't know how I'd keep it in until after the scan, I told everyone straight away last time I just couldn't hold it in! Work would probably find out straight away anyhow if I had HG like last time, I spent 2 months off vomiting last time so hardly subtle!

@dottydally, congrats on the shopping success! I also love a good bargain so end up stockpiling too!

@cupcakes I also love the sunshine! Spent a lovely evening with the gals yesterday (one of whom is preggo so obvs had my green face on, subtly though of course!) and a lovely family day out today with waaayyy too much ice cream! I'm gonna miss those whippy's when I'm preggo aaahhhh....

@Amz, I'm also preparing, I've been looking at so many things for the new baby I haven't even conceived yet lol, I'm just so excited! Remind me how long you're waiting for?

cupcakesandglitter · 21/05/2018 09:34

@dottydally yes! So glad you had a successful shop 😂

@Amz8898 I used to roll over straight after and put it straight into the app 😂 it's so funny the things we do!!

@rollerskaterdata can you not have whippys when pregnant? 🙃 tbh I'd give it up for a baby 😂 I'm loving the weather this week too!

Just out of interest, does anyone measure their basal temp? I need to buy a thermometer, no idea which one to get! X

NoseringGirl · 21/05/2018 10:38

@cupcakesandglitter I use an Ava bracelet now which does my temps but when I started out I just used a cheap one from amazon, it did the job! I upgraded to a Bluetooth one at one point (femometer) which was handy as it automatically transferred the temp to the app so I didn't have to try and read numbers when I'd just woken up but probably not worth the money.

TheOneWithTheBaby · 21/05/2018 11:31

Nosering, I have a Femometer. It definitely helps me to actually take my temp and not to forget to chart it. But it was expensive!

rollerskaterdata · 21/05/2018 14:49

@cupcakes, I think whippys contain unpasteurised milk so I was advised to stay away from them. Deffo happy to give them up for a baby though! Wink

UntilTheVeryEnd · 21/05/2018 19:31

Hello 👋 Id love to join in...

Age: 27/32
Baby #: This will be #3 ( I already have DD and DS)
When: ideally August, but who knows, I might cave sooner 🙊
Why: logistics mainly, DS is only 16 month and would like to have a 2.5y age gap, as this is what we have between DD and DS and I felt it worked really well. Also, I have just gone back to work on supply, so at least have to pretend I am invested in returning to work for a while hehe.
What am I doing: We are having an extension built so that and my DC, my DH and work keeps me plenty occupied. Altho I find now that I want to start TTC the cheeky mumsnet lurking and conception articles stalking is becoming a tad excessive!
So I hope finally commenting, rather than lurking will help me stay sane as we WTTTC

You all seem like a lovely bunch! I’ve never posted anywhere before so I’m excited to have a place to chat 😊

cupcakesandglitter · 21/05/2018 20:12

@NoseringGirl May order a cheap one first and see how I get on!

@rollerskaterdata that's such a shame (frantically frantically going to check Ben and Jerry's later to check that I can eat it 😂)

@UntilTheVeryEnd hi! 👋🏽 were quite friendly, I'll admit it's nice having people to talk to on here that are in a similar place!

mussie · 21/05/2018 20:34

Started my final pill packet today guys 😱 can't believe how quickly time is flying!

NoseringGirl · 21/05/2018 20:36

Welcome @UntilTheVeryEnd we have similarly aged children! My youngest is also 16 months and this will (hopefully all going to plan!) be our third too.

Eeh @mussie! Exciting milestone!

UntilTheVeryEnd · 21/05/2018 20:47

Thank you for the welcome ladies!
@NoseringGirl - I found this a really hard choice to make... I swore blind after DS was born that my family was complete. He is just starting to walk (the lazy bum) and it broke my heart that his first steps would be my last “first steps” I’d see. I knew then that I would have another baby... however mad it would be! Did you always know you wanted a larger family or did you have a change of heart like me?

Luckily my DD has started asking for another baby - preferably a sister baby this time mummy 😂 DH has always wanted a large family so that’s all well and good.

@mussie that’s an exciting step forward! Those pills will be gone before you know it! I have yet to have my coil removed... after reading some of the previous posts, this is maybe something I should do sooner rather than later?? 🤔

cupcakesandglitter · 21/05/2018 21:03

@mussie eek how exciting!!!!

@UntilTheVeryEnd I'd definitely consider sooner rather than later, just so you have time for your body to settle if it doesn't straight away!

NoseringGirl · 21/05/2018 21:12

@UntilTheVeryEnd I've always wanted 4 and DH just wanted 2. We did consider stopping after DS2 and I even sobbed and begged DH not to let me go through it again when DS2 was about 3 weeks old and I was going through PND Blush
Despite all that, we've got to the point where we both agree that our family isn't quite complete. We'll probably stop at 3 (DH is adamant we'll stop at 3 Grin)

dottydally · 21/05/2018 22:14

@mussie we should have an 'end of contraception' ceremony Wine

Welcome @UntilTheVeryEnd

Strange question. What happens if you've got your belly button pierced? Presumably it has to be taken out..?

UntilTheVeryEnd · 21/05/2018 22:19

@dottydally I have my belly button pierced and wore it right up til the birth. I did have to take it out for scans right enough but I popped it straight back in afterwards. Obviously had to take it out for the birth of my DC as it could have affected the monitors around my belly. If you are happy to keep it in then it’s safe enough - if your belly gets too big maybe reassess then? 😂

cupcakesandglitter · 21/05/2018 23:18

@UntilTheVeryEnd @dottydally I'd love to keep mine in! Someone I knew took hers out after birth and it had stretched quite a bit, looked odd not having anything in there... no reason why it can't go back in I suppose 😂😂

Amz8898 · 22/05/2018 07:14

@rollerskaterdata . Yeah that what I do with my diary . I'm waiting on my injection running out 😣.... could be ages , I've only had two depo shots so only be on 6 month so gooey not take two long xxxxxxx I'm just past the 13 week mark when I'm supposed to get it soooo fingers crossed 🤞xxxxx
