TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

Unicorn the exact same thing happened to me last week, I was convinced I was pregnant, then a matter of hours later AF shows up. It's like she knooowwwwsssss!!! Angry
Ovia says my fertile time is this Saturday-Wednesday but Flo app thinks I'll ovulate on Saturday?!
I'm currently not very well with a stinking cold and DH won't come anywhere near me!

Honestly I've been so bad with the symptoms, I had sore nipples and cramps in the same day and convinced myself I must be pregnant even though I've already took like 4 tests and they were negative 😂🙈 I really just need to chill out with it.
The only problem I have now is with my ovulation, this first cycle has been 37 days and before the pill I was never ever regular so I dont know where I stand with regards to when I'm actually going to ovulate.
The only thing is ovulation tests but I didn't want it to be so regimented but then I don't want to risk losing my fertile window. Arghhhhh why can't this getting pregnant lark be easy lol

jemimafuddleduck · 21/02/2018 21:23

If I were you I'd just test for one cycle, so you have a rough idea of when you'll be ovulating. Then if you don't want it to be regimented don't do it for the other cycles.
But I guess it only needs to become regimented if you let it (and if you tell your DH when you're ovulating?).

That's true, I could always just keep it to myself and I wouldn't have to tell him I'm fertile 😂
Is there a particular time to take ovulation tests in a day or does it not matter? As pregnancy tests are better in the morning x

jemimafuddleduck · 21/02/2018 22:00

I've read on other threads that afternoon/early evening is best, not first thing in the morning. But again, no expert here! 🤷‍♀️

How are you all getting on?
I'm in my fertile window, but am ill. I don't feel like DTD, but I don't want to miss the opportunity. And my DH won't come near me whilst I'm snotty and headachy anyway... so this month may not happen Angry

@jemimafuddleduck oh no!! I'm full of a cold too. I'm getting really annoyed; not had a positive OPK at all, not even close. Had flashing smiley faces on the clear blue for EIGHT DAYS. in CD18 and no sign of any EWCM either? Feeling it's not happening this month for me! Sad

AnotherOriginalUsername · 23/02/2018 17:36

I'm hoping very much that I'm pregnant as I can't cope with being this emotional every month! Confused

I used my husband's car today (and thus had his MP3 player plugged in). This song actually made me cry. WTAF Hmm

jemimafuddleduck · 23/02/2018 17:47

Ahh Sammie that sucks. Hopefully you'll get a positive OPK soon.

Another - 😂 - when can you test?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 23/02/2018 18:01

App is telling me Sunday... Tempted to do it tomorrow though

jemimafuddleduck · 23/02/2018 18:24

Do it 😈

AnotherOriginalUsername · 23/02/2018 19:01

I think I will. I'm working early tomorrow, my husband won't be up - if I'm pregnant this cycle, I won't tell him until his birthday!

jemimafuddleduck · 23/02/2018 19:33

But you'll tell us right?!

OP posts:
AnotherOriginalUsername · 23/02/2018 19:46

Oh of course. I'd have to tell someone! Grin

AnotherOriginalUsername · 23/02/2018 19:55

My little calendar thing looks like this, tomorrow wouldn't be too early to test would it? Will be 11 days from when I think I ovulated...

No I think it'd be ok! Good luck x

Hello ladies! I’ll be 13dpo tomorrow, well if I ovulated on cd14. Don’t know whether to test. Been feeling like AF is coming, getting spots and feeling bloated. Might see how I feel tomorrow and maybe I’ll join you in testing @anotheroriginalusername.

orangekitkat13 · 23/02/2018 23:04

I'm getting quite fed up with my body, still no AF, 29 days since implant was removed, 21 days since supposed ovulation and AF is supposedly 10 days late. Took a test last weekend BFN. Think I'll do one on Sunday but I've convinced myself it won't happen, just wish AF would hurry up now! Never actually wanted my period to start!

@AnotherOriginalUsername good luck and fingers crossed for you!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 24/02/2018 06:19

I definitely dreamt that I had a positive test last night... Shock

AnotherOriginalUsername · 24/02/2018 07:02

At least I'll be able to unleash my inner hippy and use my new moon cup soon!

orangekitkat13 · 24/02/2018 09:05

That's a shame @AnotherOriginalUsername. You'll have to tell us what a moon cup is like. Often thought it would be better as it's cheaper and better for the environment, just not sure I like the concept of them tho!

Mipha · 24/02/2018 09:27

@anotheroriginalunsername you’re only 11dpo so it might be too early!
@orangekitkat13 it’s my first cycle too so I could in for something similar, feel I’d be pretty lucky to go back to 28 day cycles straight away.

jemimafuddleduck · 24/02/2018 09:57

AnotherOriginalUsername sorry for your BFN. But others are right, it is early and you're not out until you're out!
I'm also interested in the idea of a moon cup but not sure how it would work logistically?! Think I'd end up wearing a pad anyway just in case I leaked! Let us know how you get on.

I managed to DTD this morning and apps say I'm predicted to ovulate tomorrow so I'm no longer out for this month Grin

flyingplum · 24/02/2018 13:17

Sorry @AnotherOriginalUsername :(

AnotherOriginalUsername · 24/02/2018 14:28

@Mipha true, and upon reading the instructions of the test (like, who does that before you use it anyway?), it says effective from first day of a missed period. But in reality, I've just come off of a decade and a half of contraception, it's never going to happen in the first month.

@jemimafuddleduck I would likely double up first until I decided I trusted it, but I've spoken to cyclists, runners, swimmers etc. and they all swear by them - that's my main reason for wanting to use one, I can't afford to take 1 week out of 4 off exercise, I have events to train for!
