TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

😒

jemimafuddleduck · 23/04/2018 11:44

@Rmad6716 aaah I'm sorry Hun 😞 you're not out til you're out though. Fingers crossed for you but I know how disappointing it is x

I've been to the docs this morning who has reassured me that my short and light cycles shouldn't be an issue, but he's going to do blood tests on me to make sure I'm ovulating and has advised to get my DHs sperm tested too.

He has told me that it's 18 months before they can refer to fertility clinic here so basically keep trying!!

@Rmad6716 sorry that it is a BFN, fingers crossed AF arrives soon so you can get on it with the next cycle!

I caved and did my FRER despite some more signs AF was on her way...was basically an expensive wee. Definite BFN. Guess onwards and upwards to cycle 3!

@jemimafuddleduck I thought they could refer at 12 months...can't believe it's now 18 🤐. It's good that they are doing bloods now though, hopefully that will give you some reassurance.

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 23/04/2018 14:45

Period was due today and nothing no signs no nothing I had a dull ache in my stomach yesterday but that's about it my body really confuses me.

emdoc · 23/04/2018 16:25

Well I caved and peed on an IC! It was the whitest white I have ever seen 🙄 I am a weak weak woman! The good news is I haven’t cracked and peed on a FRER yet (ask me tomorrow hahaha). I have a busy few days and then going away for work for 5 more days which will hopefully distract me a bit!

Definitely noticed sore boobs at the gym today. I had that sometimes while I had my Mirena, maybe from cycles I’m guessing, so could definitely be an AF sign.

@jemimafuddleduck I’m glad your GP is doing some tests for you, that sounds good! 18 months though, ugh! I also thought the process could start at 1 year.

@Rmad6716 sorry about your BFN. But you’re not out yet! That long cycle definitely sounds frustrating.

@Shootfirstaskquestionslater are you going to test or wait?

jemimafuddleduck · 23/04/2018 16:48

@emdoc how many dpo are you and when are you due?

I think in some areas it's 1 year but apparently in mine it's 18 months. I'm not too worried at the moment as we've not been trying for ages, I went more as I was concerned about the lightness of my AF and length of cycles. He seemed to think that was all fine (although I'm not sure how convinced I was about his level of knowledge as he said it's quite possible to get pregnant whilst on your period, and I had to explain that there was no point in me having a blood test on Day 21 to check if I've ovulated as my af begins cd22 rather than 28...)

I’m in the midst on the 2WW 4DPO and I’m driving myself insane with not knowing 😂 have held out so far but I’m itching to test!

Moxska · 23/04/2018 17:59

Had a little more what I feel may be IB today. And my stomach is crampy! My app estimates im around 7dpo...the 2ww sucks

Pinkroseuk · 23/04/2018 20:56

Thanks for the welcomes - does anyone know if there are any ways to track if you actually ovulate? AF has just ended for me so trying to keep my fingers crossed for this month but not sure I have actually ovulated since coming off the pill 15 months ago :/ thanks :)

jemimafuddleduck · 23/04/2018 21:59

@Pinkroseuk You can get cheap OPKs (ovulation kits) which predict if you're likely to ovulate from amazon, but they can be a little hard to read. I've found the clear blue advanced digital tests the best, although they are expensive they're fool proof! They won't tell you that you've actually ovulated though, they just tell you that you're releasing the right hormones to ovulate.
Measuring your basal body temperature will confirm ovulation - worth having a google to give you the ins and outs.

Pinkroseuk · 23/04/2018 22:09

Thanks @jemimafuddleduck I have the clear blue advances fertility monitor but it only ever shows me high when I test?!

Might look into the temperature one though- worth a try with everything!
Thankyou

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 24/04/2018 01:30

emdoc I have tested twice both times it was negative so now it's just a waiting game for my period.

Pinkroseuk I'm waiting for my BBT to arrive so that I can check to make sure that I do overlate and when. I came off my mini pill in February I've had 2 periods since then and the one that am waiting for is my 3rd one and it's not arrived yet.

Leonora94 · 24/04/2018 07:44

The symptom spotting has officially started! My nipple feel werid, I feel so crap and I keep getting slight cramps...I’m only 5dpo so I’m pretty sure it’s all in head 😟 Does anyone know roughly how many dpo you would be start feeling stuff or when implantation happens?

jemimafuddleduck · 24/04/2018 08:48

@Leonora94 implantation can happen anywhere between 6-12dpo but usually around 9dpo. So the symptoms you're feeling are probably just hormonal.
Having said that, I asked exactly the same question next month and was convinced from about 3dpo that I was pregnant (spoiler: I wasn't 😢)

Leonora94 · 24/04/2018 09:03

@jemimafuddleduck thank you for your reply. It just plays on the brain constantly...god knows what I'm going to be like when I actually am pregnant if i'm freaking out this much now! Its just exciting I guess, all my will power is going on not testing because I know it will BFN, Good luck!

Leonora94 · 24/04/2018 14:40

I POAS! Obviously BFN like I knew it would be as its waaay to early but I thought if I did then I'd be able to just stop thinking about it and get on with my day...but of course it's done the complete opposite and now I feel stupid and overly emotional and then stupid again because it was too early anyway and I shouldn't feel emotional! Sorry...needed to vent!

Rmad6716 · 24/04/2018 14:54

@Leonora94 I completely understand how you feel! I did the same today at 12DPO and it was of course a BFN. Made me feel so sad this morning.

Also feel like AF may be coming imminently. Glad In a way because it means I can board next months bus 😊. Pretty certain I'm not pregnant but I'll still hope until I get AF!

This might be a strange one but does anybody get really emotional/sad feeling when they see people on Social media posting bump pics? Gets me so down. I think bumps are actually worse than babies lol! For me anyway. Can't wait to have my own wee bump to cradle 😞🤞🏼. After this post I'm even more sure AF is going to turn up. Feeling extra emotional🙄

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 24/04/2018 15:13

I'm out this month ladies my AF just showed up.

jemimafuddleduck · 24/04/2018 15:42

@Rmad6716 Yes I completely understand. I cried after this months BFN. I actually get more upset seeing other people's BFPs (but actually like seeing them as well weirdly!)
Our time will come x

jemimafuddleduck · 24/04/2018 15:42

@Shootfirstaskquestionslater Sorry about AF

@Leonora94 there's definitely still time for you! But we've all been there 😊

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 24/04/2018 16:09

Maybe next cycle will be our turn jemimafuddleduck

sprinkleofsunshine · 24/04/2018 16:29

Hi can I join please? I'm on the April 2ww boards but getting a bit quiet now it's later in the month!

I'm ttc baby number 1 on cycle 1! 8 days dpo, af due next Monday. Have been symptom spotting like mad, so hard not to but holding out to weekend to test. Think I've had loads of symptoms but could very well be all in my hard as I've not taken much notice before.

sprinkleofsunshine · 24/04/2018 16:30

Head*

Leonora94 · 24/04/2018 16:43

@sprinkleofsunshine Hello! You’re pretty much the same as me. I’m 7 dpo I’ve just ordered some rapid response tests for Sunday. Be strong (not like me)! 😂

sprinkleofsunshine · 24/04/2018 16:49

I know, it's so tempting isn't it but I'm just thinking I'll be disappointed if it's negative even though it's quite early so just hold out.

Have you had any symptoms?
