TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

I've been lurking but not commenting the past week or so. Feeling confused and frustrated! lol.

I use Glow and Ovia. Ovia saying I'm 4 days late for AF and Glow 1 day late. POAS yesterday with a first response 45 second test and it was a BFN.

Feel normal, no strange symptoms. Just feel bloated around pelvic area. Felt like AF was coming last week but nothing at all yet. Maybe my cycle isn't normal yet after coming off the pill in jan. 04th March was a real period so maybe my cycle is just long!

@Rmad6716 try not to get too disheartened. It may take a while for your body to get back to normal after being on the pill. Hope you get you BFP soon though. X

Well I'm just entering my fertile week and DH has got the shits. I asked him if he fancied DTD earlier and he said "I'd like to, but I almost sharted earlier so better not". FML 🙈

@Rmad6716 hopefully you just ovulated late and AF isn’t going to come at all!

I’ll be CD8 tomorrow so probably going to pick up our BDing pace since I don’t yet know when I might ovulate! Hope everyone else is doing well!

Luckily he was feeling a bit better today so we BD'ed this morning... although my tummy is starting to feel a bit squiffy 😖

Thanks guys . Still no AF but I am sooo bloated 🤔. Look like I've gained a stone overnight. Kept running to the toilet at work today, handbag in hand to deal with AF as it felt like It was about to start at any moment! As much as it would be wonderful if I somehow got a BFP I think it's more likely the pill withdrawals😕.

@jemimafuddleduck I too had a bit of an..ahem... upset stomach today too 😂🤭. I feel your pain.

@jemimafuddleduck no AF & a BFP on one step test 🙄. I'm that way I'm thinking maybe I'll visit the docs next week because I have actually had a lot of PCOS symptoms over the past 4 years or so. Had to get laser treatment for excess hair etc. Doc didn't seem interested in investigating because I didn't look severely overweight. Which is bad because not everybody has weight gain. However since I stopped the pill I've gained at least half a stone 🤭🤔.

How are you feeling today!?

@jemimafuddleduck none here. I am both convinced I am and certain I'm not! Draining. 🙄

@NotMaryWhitehouse have you tested/when can you test?
@Rmad6716 it definitely sounds like it's worth getting checked out. I came off the pill in January and I reckon I've put on about 5-6 pounds since then too 😞
All good here now, full steam ahead! I'm getting flashing smilies on the CB OPK. I'm currently CD9 but have ovulated on day 12 for the past 2 cycles so planning on DTD as much as possible over the next few days! Finger crossed this month.
If I don't catch this month I might look into trying the sperm meets egg method next month - has anyone else seen this?

Already done one- six days ago, negative. AF due Monday, v regular cycle but going to resist doing another test til Tuesday, assuming I don't come on.

@jemimafuddleduck this is our first cycle! I had my Mirena removed at the end of March and was on some form of hormonal contraception for years before that so my natural cycle is only a memory!

I read about the SMEP and it seems pretty simple and has good anecdotal success stories! Might be worth trying but hopefully you don’t need it 🤞

I had weird sharp left lower abdomen pain last night that seemed like what people describe ovulation pain to be, but it was only CD8 so I don’t think it was! Still waiting to see any change in cervical mucous or other signs! So far we’re just BDing lots even though I’m early in my cycle because the TTC novelty hasn’t worn off for us yet... I also don’t know if it’s psychological but I feel like my sex Drive is kind of higher since Mirena came out? I’ll take it 🙂

AF arrived early at bedtime. V strange as never early and always come on in the morning. Spared myself another day of guessing I suppose! Onwards!

@emdoc good luck then! My sex drive was much higher after coming off the pill, but that could have just been the excitement of ttc 😁

I'm using clear blue digital opk for the first time this month. I'm cd10 today (the past two cycles have been 22-23 days long) and have just got a solid smiley this morning - peak fertility! I just can't help but think it's SO early! But having looked on google most places seem to say it's fine on an earlier cycle has long as you have at least 10 dpo before your usual AF which I have...

Luckily we have DTD Friday and yesterday and will have the opportunity today.. just need to engineer it tomorrow and maybe Tuesday/Wednesday if I can and we'll be all good for this cycle!

@jemimafuddleduck I'm using the clearblue OPKs to this month. Got a solid smiley as well today! Nice to have a cycle buddy!

Mine was 3 days after Glow said it should be. We DTD Monday, Thursday, Friday and yesterday, I'm not sure we have the energy to go again today!

Do you think yesterday and tomorrow would cover our bases ok?

I have 10 days before AF due but when I put the peak OPK in Glow it moved AF back by 4days so not sure when I'm due now this month!

@orangekitkat13 hey! Yes it is nice to have a cycle buddy! We DTD mon, fri, sat and today. Prior to getting my solid smiley my apps said fertile week started yesterday but since getting the positive it's moved like yours, and now says FW ends tomorrow.
I think based on what you've said, if you don't do it today you'll be fine. I don't know whether we'll get a chance to do it tomorrow!
I think AF is due for me around 21st, but two apps say two different things

Glad I'm not the only one whose confused! Originally said AF was due the 18th is now says the 23rd.

Also have pretty bad stabbing pain in the left side of my tummy, guessing it's ovulation pain.

Have you told DH that your using OPKs? I haven't and not sure whether too.

I've not discussed it in detail with him, but I haven't hidden it - I left the box out in the bathroom so he knows I'm using them. I did ask him earlier if he fancied a bit of sexy time and he said he was tired. So I did tell him I was on a peak fertility day and about an hour later he was up for it! Didn't want to miss my first solid smiley!

Mine has seen the box but I wouldn't imagine he knows what they are to be honest! I wish I had just told him about them know tho! He thinks that I ovulated on Thursday/Friday as that is when the app said I would but now I'm having to ask him for more "sexy time" and I think he is getting fed up!
Haha who'd have thought you'd get fed up of sex! 😂
