Thread numero four-o.

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shall not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shall not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shall not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shall not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shall not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shall not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if they do so.

Welcome and welcome. We’re all very nice and friendly despite being horrible bitter old cows ☺️

@Milknosugar1 I'm not too sure. I went to my Drs to kick things off, she was brilliant and arranged my initial blood test immediately as I was on CD 2 when I had my appointment and the first one has to be in the first 4days she also booked the second follow up one at the same time. She also arranged for me to do a swab to test for chlamydia (which is just standard before they can refer you further)
She then said that my husband needed to arrange an SA and he had to do this himself. So his initial Drs appt is Tuesday.
My dr said that my blood test results remain valid for 6 months and that they'd need those and the SA results before referring us further (I told dh that they only lasted 3 months otherwise he'd leave it for 5 months, he's always been very laidback and last minute!)

As I understand it, they have to test semen within an hr so we're going to push for it to be done at the hospital 5 mins from our house which means he can "give" his sample at home (easier than trying to do it in a room at the Drs 😂)
I'll find out more on Tuesday.
Hope it goes well for you and your dh!

When DH had to give his sample we were given a tub and form from the Dr, we had to ring the lab first and arrange a time for drop off. We live close to the hospital but there was an option to do the sample there if you lived too far away.

LexieJean · 12/01/2018 13:16

@milk my OH is heading to second SA at end of month where he has to go into the fertility unit at the hospital and go into a room to ‘amuse’ himself. (We’ve already been referred). But first time it was more like a drop in- GP gave him a form and pot so he could do his thing then take the pot in. But the sample has to be delivered within 1 hour.

MynameisJune · 12/01/2018 16:19

@sooz I’m going to raise your pregnancy symptoms and add my own possible phantom pregnancy 🙈😂

Since Boxing Day night I’ve felt what feel like baby kicks, they’ve even moved my hand. It happens quite frequently and so now I’ve kind of convinced myself that my mc in October wasn’t actually an mc (it really was) and that I could still be pregnant.

I know deep down this isn’t the case, I’ve had 4 periods since then but every time it happens this scenario goes around in my head. Yes I am crazy 😬

SoozC · 12/01/2018 16:34

Bubble, yep, I'm not going to bother testing either! Hope the baby shower is bearable x

Today's symptoms have been: faint nausea, twinges in lower abdomen and no usual pre-af spotting.

It's looking hopeful! I'm ignoring the fact that a) I ate loads of M&S mini chocolate brownies and b) I haven't been to the toilet since 8am (life of a teacher!) so haven't had a chance to check for spotting.

Because clearly I am having symptoms and I am preggers.

SoozC · 12/01/2018 18:13

DH now asks me every time he sees me if there are any more pregnancy symptoms Grin

Bubblegum89 · 12/01/2018 18:33

Sooz I was ridiculously thirsty today. I drank about 5 times as much as I usually do while I was in work and it still wasn’t enough. Pregnancy symptom or something to do with the double bacon butty I ate this morning? Haha

MynameisJune · 12/01/2018 18:37

Definitely pregnancy symptom @bubblegum

SoozC · 12/01/2018 18:41

I'm twingeing!! On and off, but still a valid symptom, no?

SoozC · 12/01/2018 18:42

Ooh, Bubble, you have symptoms too! Drinking more can only mean you're pregnant!

Bubblegum89 · 12/01/2018 18:44

MynameisJune thought so! I’m defo pregnant, thanks for confirming 😂

How many dpo are you Sooz? I cramp and twinge on and off from 1dpo right up until af, no idea why. But I know implantation cramps are a thing so could maybe be that?

SoozC · 12/01/2018 18:52

I think between 11-13dpo. App says af due tomorrow. Like fuck am I testing though, I think it's kinder to let af just arrive!!

Although I'm sure if I posted a thread listing my symptoms people would be telling me to poas, as some ttc-ers think these symptoms can only mean I'm preggers! Grin

minime2017 · 12/01/2018 19:30

Sooz Im getting slightly excited by your posts 😁 FW and the 2nd week of the 2ww are the best of the month and I'm in neither, so will live vicariously through yours. FW is coming so if anyone wishes to suggest any weird and wonderful methods of ttc'ing I've not tried yet please feel free

SoozC · 12/01/2018 19:36

Mini, please don't get too excited, it'll be more of a let-down when af arrives! I'd hate for you to feel let-down when it's not even your af!!

I think on one of our threads there was something about doing it upside down? Or hanging over the side of the bed afterwards? Worth a try. Grin

And, of course, there are always yams...

minime2017 · 12/01/2018 20:26

🤣 I'm seriously considering yams...and that move should be renamed the neckbreaker ...

SparkwoodAnd21 · 12/01/2018 22:50

Milk I have just downloaded Clue. I’m not sure if ovia has been any good yet, maybe the two together will be good.

SoozC · 12/01/2018 23:04

I use fertility friend. I like it, just the basic version because I paid for a year of the pro version and it expired before I got preggers! Now I've had a mc I don't fancy having that year ticking down on me. But the free version is good to use, I like it.

Steaksauce · 12/01/2018 23:14

I use Ovia and fertility friend. I like them both for different reasons

SoozC · 13/01/2018 08:05

Strong-smelling wee! Though you'd all like to know.

MynameisJune · 13/01/2018 08:37

@sooz got to be pregnant.....not a possible uti no way....

DoAsDreamersDo · 13/01/2018 09:42

I use ovia, glow and fertility friend. I only have fertility friend from when I tracked my temperature, which I don’t anymore so it doesn’t really do a lot for me now. The most accurate at estimating AF is glow, so I trust this one for the dates of when I’m most fertile (ha, guess that’s not really working out for me is it?)

NewSense · 13/01/2018 09:43

sooz ... Just out of curiosity. Not that I'm over-invested... But... When will you be testing??

SoozC · 13/01/2018 10:16

Tomorrow, because if it's happy news I can spend the day with DH rather than having to go to work! Even though I'd rather not test at all. On second thoughts, I might not test and just wait and see. I really hate seeing negative tests and then af arrives later that day.

I think I'm having mild cramps, very very mild, probably the start of af. So she'll turn up this evening or tomorrow I reckon.

Bubblegum89 · 13/01/2018 10:37

Sooz strong smelling wee here too haha but I always get that during the tww so nothing new for me. Are you going to test do you think? Or wait until af is late? I can’t bring myself to test anymore, I can’t cope with the disappointment.

I’m not using fertility apps anymore but when I was, I used Ovia and Glow. They are a little more simplistic I think, I like the colours 😂 I found them both spot on accurate up until September when my cycles started being irregular.

Well the Uber sore boobs have started today so I guess I was right in saying I ovulated last Friday (cd11) so this cycle will only be 25 days. I know it’s not that bad but I don’t understand why after regular 28 cycles for 16 goddamn years, that they’re suddenly all over the place. Nobody can seem to give me a possible reason. It’s top of my list of questions to ask the consultant at the clinic on Tuesday. On the bright side, my period will start on Friday rather than Monday. So I’ve got the weekend to feel sorry for myself instead of being stuck in work. Every cloud.
