Thread numero four-o.

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shall not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shall not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shall not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shall not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shall not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shall not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if they do so.

Welcome and welcome. We’re all very nice and friendly despite being horrible bitter old cows ☺️

Chuckling along @SoozC but my fingers are crossed for you! 🤞

LookingAtTheStars89 · 11/01/2018 21:20

@LexieJean. My OH isn't a smoker or drinker but he did consume a lot of coffee until November when I told him it might be hampering progress. He's not too bad at remembering to take them.

I'm actually AF symptoms spotting this cycle, I feel REALLY negative about it for some reason. Literally every little think I'm like "I have a spot, A SPOT, that's it, I'm not pregnant" "I have leg cramp, might as well stick up on opks now" Its not like me to be negative but I can't seem to shake it.

SoozC · 11/01/2018 21:58

Had a few twinges this evening. That is all.

WonkyDonk87 · 11/01/2018 22:33

MISSING/LOST!!!

My period has been missing for 8 days now and no sign of her. We are al hoping she comes home soon. Answers to the name of AF/Evil Red Witch. Please ladies, check your garages, sheds and down the back of your sofa x many thanks

NewSense · 11/01/2018 22:52

Wonky, if you don't find her, you can have mine.

You're welcome :)

WonkyDonk87 · 11/01/2018 23:09

Wouldn't it be nice if we could? For those occasions when it's really inconvenient.... "hey friend, I really fancy a holiday/shag/bounce on a trampoline... can you hold my handbag, and er... this?"
Would gladly share the burden!

Snowyjoey · 11/01/2018 23:27

So tonight I have the most painful boobs ever - can't have anything touching my nips at all (TMI sorry notsorry )

AF still AWOL, not seen her for 3 months ...will join you in the search for yours Wonky

What is this hell? Negative OPK, negative HPT. Confused

WonkyDonk87 · 11/01/2018 23:35

3 months????!!! I can't imagine how much that must be doing your head in @Snowyjoey Sad

Snowyjoey · 11/01/2018 23:39

I'm pretty sure I might be broken Wonky Sad

It was fairly normal of me to skip a month a couple of times a year before I went on the pill, but this is now very unusual.

I'm scared to go to the doctor about it though, how ridiculous is that?! gives self kick up the bum

WonkyDonk87 · 11/01/2018 23:48
Snowyjoey · 12/01/2018 00:00

Reckon they'd do anything? I feel like cause I'm 28 and only off the pill 7 months they would just tell me it's normal to take a year so come back then? I've ordered Angus castus so will start taking that and see what happens. Seems to have worked at shortening cycles for a lot of people!

Bubblegum89 · 12/01/2018 00:09

SnowyJoey unfortunately they won’t do anything. They’re not interested until you’ve been trying unsuccessfully for 12 months. Super frustrating I know but I suppose if they saw everyone who was having weird periods/cycles, they’d be swamped lol you never know, af might show up again before you get to that point anyway :)

Sooz you’re driving yourself mad, woman! Haha. I’ve 100% fallen out with my body now tbh. It changes symptoms and things so often that I can’t keep up and it really gets me excited just to let me down constantly. Like my weird agonisingly painful boobs during what I assume was my fertile week. Never had that before ever, not in my life nor the last 14 months of ttc. But I know it means absolutely nothing and I’ll never really know why it happened this particular time.

Also I totally mirror the whole “everyone is pregnant” thing. Got my little sister’s baby shower on Sunday so keep me in your prayers lol

snowey doesn't hurt to ask the GP if it's unusual - missed periods for that long might warrant a visit regardless of whether TTC or not...but appreciate GPs vary massively in how proactive they are about that sort of thing...

Sorry about all the baby bombs, guys

Hope the baby shower is OK bubble - rather you than me...has the family been any more sensitive about talking about the pregnancy?

wonky what's going on?! Have you been this late before?

polkadotpixie · 12/01/2018 04:44

@Snowyjoey I would give your doctor a visit. My cycles were really wonky (short, irregular and painful rather than missing) but the doctor was willing to look into it from a gynaecological perspective regardless of how long I'd been TTC

SoozC · 12/01/2018 07:33

Trust me, Bubble, I am not excited about these "symptoms". Just amusing myself while waiting for af!

WonkyDonk87 · 12/01/2018 07:43

@QuietTime They were pretty long/random when I first came off contraception, but I thought recently it had settled down to a 35 day cycle. It appears not. My GP is pretty relaxed about it she has four kids and works part time but hey who's counting? So I'm going down the natural/alternative therapies route for something else to focus on.

WonkyDonk87 · 12/01/2018 07:45

@Bubblegum89 Don't envy you at all! Baby showers make me feel a bit queasy. Hope there's good food/cake to soften the blow.

LexieJean · 12/01/2018 07:57

@snowy I’m echoing the others - go see your GP! I know GP’s vary but mine sent me for an internal US before we were TTC officially, just to check it all looked ok as my periods were lasting 1 day. And are you up to date with your smear? (Might as well have everyone take a look!) Then you can rule out anything worryisome and concentrate on the Angus Castus.

Urgh, @bubble good luck.

Thanks ladies. There’ll be food so I should be okay!

Sooz I swear I do this through my whole cycle. I’m like “oh look, clear watery cm at 20 dpo, maybe I’m pregnant.... hahahaha.” I posted a thread on here last week about irregular cycles and my weird period/sore boobs before ovulation this cycle to ask if anyone else had experienced it and if it was normal and pretty much every reply was “it sounds like you’re pregnant, take a test!” Thank you but I’m not going to waste my time doing that lol. Even if your symptoms don’t mean anything, the fact you feel different might be a good thing, I hope this is your month!

Ok so I've booked a doctor's appointment...next available was the 2nd Feb Shock It's good to know some GPs are proactive about missing periods. I would kinda like a scan or something to see if I have PCOS. My mum was super fertile so I don't feel like I can talk to her about this because she's never had experience of it and seems to think that her experience of pregnancy and childbirth (no complications, short labours, babies pretty much fell out leaving no damage) is the norm.

My smear was all clear in May or June time so hopefully nothing wrong in that department. The only thing that came up was that I had group B strep, but the GP said it was nothing to worry about. Would that affect anything does anyone know?

Steaksauce · 12/01/2018 11:16

Urgh @WonkyDonk87 how annoying, hope af turns up soon (or the gp can help!)
@Bubblegum89 thinking of you at the baby shower, why are they even a thing now. I can't stand them. Hope you have fun (eat all the cake )

@SoozC you're making me laugh with your symptom spotting, but I really hope they're a sign!

I've had my blood test results back, I'm officially ovulating yay! Husband is off to the Drs on Tuesday to get his SA. Once the results of that are back we start looking at other options (we're fast tracked due to being old - by fast tracked I mean they do all of this after 6 months of trying rather than a year)

Snowyjoey · 12/01/2018 11:42

Great news that you're ovulating @steaksauce! I'm not sure if I am or not. Hope your DHs results are positive or give you a few more answers.

Steaksauce · 12/01/2018 11:56

Thanks @Snowyjoey! Hope you get some answers soon. My dr has been brilliant so I really hope you have a similar experience
