Where there’s a Yam, there’s a way

Thread numero four-o.

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shall not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shall not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shall not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shall not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shall not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shall not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if they do so.

Welcome and welcome. We’re all very nice and friendly despite being horrible bitter old cows ☺️

Morning yammers!
limp are you getting married in 5 months? Las Vegas is super exciting!!!
Welcome snowy!

The day I ov dp is away. Boooo! I'm starting to wonder if it's ever going to happen 12 cycles in.
Xx

Mamabooksbabynumber2 · 09/01/2018 09:49

Si1ver we've all been there. Don't beat yourself up. Got any nice plans for the day?

Snowyjoey · 09/01/2018 11:23

@Si1ver I've been known to POAS far too soon after DTD before 4days, ha! Blush

This TTC lark is way more tricky than I ever imagined.

LimpLettice · 09/01/2018 12:17

Early May, Mama and I've done nuffink. Literally booked it and nothing else. And yes, we booked it before the, ahem, other couple. She'll probably pregnant before me as well ffs 🙄. I've taken to shouting at fecund characters in kids programmes now. Look, even she done it first!

Vegas though! Yep it's exciting.

Oh I'm fed up of milestones. Miscarried due date 18th March. I'll probly melt into a heap of negative misery by then. What a joy to be around I am. Ha.

S1lver we've all been there. All of us. Step away from the pee!

SparkwoodAnd21 · 09/01/2018 14:13

I had an appointment with the doctor today to discuss results so far. I was hoping to come away with something, like a plan for further tests or some drugs like chlomid or something, but I’ve just got another batch of thyroid medicine and a blood test to book in six weeks. I feel a bit deflated and it all feels pretty hopeless. At what point do you give up? Feeling like a fat, bitter, barren old hag. ☹️

Justwaitingforaline · 09/01/2018 14:18

Hey ladies, just a quick pop in to say that after DH’s sperm analysis, we are bowing out of TTC for a while. It’s eating us both alive and we need a break.

I wish you all the very best of luck and will think of you whenever I eat yams not that I eat yams. Thank you all for the support over the past however long, you guys have been great.

QuietTime · 09/01/2018 17:30

Oh just I'll be sorry to see you go - but I totally understand. How are you feeling about it? Glad you're doing what's right for you guys - that's the most important thing. Take care, lovely, and maybe visit us some time xxx

QuietTime · 09/01/2018 17:33

Spark no no NO, you're fab. What have the latest results said about your thyroid, has there been improvement? Getting the treatment is definitely a step forward, don't feel too downhearted. But I do understand - felt the same when warned that if no further explanation, just have to carry on for another year :s Be kind to yourself xx

SoozC · 09/01/2018 18:00

@Justwaitingforaline, sorry to see you go, albeit temporarily. Wishing you lots of luck xx

@S1lver, step away from the sticks!!!!

I am totally pissed off. Bad day at school today, but that's only part of it. Feeling like I'm preggers but desperately trying to convince myself it's all in my head. I really don't want to be too let down when af arrives.

To top it off, a friend I see regularly, as we're taking a class together until July, has told me she's 12-weeks. She had a mc like me so we were mc buddies but now she's preggers again. I'm happy for her but it still makes me feel sad.

I've been here for all 4 threads too and actually managed to get a bfp but I'm still here. I love you ladies but I really do want to be elsewhere! ;)

How do you tell your brain to stop thinking you're preggers?!?!

hellotoyellow · 09/01/2018 18:58

Placemarking.

@PirateWeasel, sympathy! I’m having exactly the same - a very close colleague, who had a miscarriage three months ago. At that point I felt baby bombed and then felt evil when she told me she miscarried. I’m on cycle 11 now and my DH is away for work for a few months - this AF is late but still getting a BFN so all it’s going to do is mess up my carefully timed expensive trips to —conceive— hang out with DH. Sigh.

Justwaitingforaline · 09/01/2018 19:45

Quiet I’m actually feeling okay about it. The past 6 months especially of TTC have been utterly shit and I just can’t carry on being consumed by it all and feeling like I’m failing at life - we’re going to finish the investigations because it seems silly after the long waiting list we’ve been in but then just call it a day for a while ( realistically probably a year or so ) and enjoy the life that we have, not feel sad about the one that we don’t.

Hopeislost · 09/01/2018 20:22

I had to literally stand over dh today while he phoned to make an appointment for a SA 🙄

bama4 · 09/01/2018 21:13

Yay to the new thread - don't post much but I'm always lurking and crossing my fingers for us all!

monkeysaymonkeydo · 09/01/2018 21:24

Hello everyone. TTC for over a year now. Had initial blood test the 21 day test which was normal. DP has had one SA and has to book another as first was borderline. Getting frustrated and aware I'm probably taking the fun out of DTD now. Good luck to everýone

Steaksauce · 09/01/2018 22:40

Oooh new thread. I've not posted much as it's all getting me down a bit if I'm honest. Plus I've started a new job so have been super busy trying to figure out what I'm meant to be doing!

I've been on all four too Sad
Hopefully everyone gets their bfp soon.

RhiBee29 · 10/01/2018 06:42

Advice needed please...

I got a positive opk Monday, dtd Monday and yesterday (and 2 days before + opk), Ovia says fw is now over but Period Tracker says I ovulated yesterday and should dtd today. I'm confused. I thought ovulation would occur day of or day after the +opk. Help, do I need to dtd again? I don't know if DH can, it was a struggle last night tbh. I don't want to miss my chance!

Hi please can i join, ttc #2 for 18+ months (soooo over this).

Yet i still think its acceptable to bloody poas at 9dpo.. (let's feel the shame together @si1ver!)

Steaksauce · 10/01/2018 08:32

@Milknosugar1 Grin that would be telling surely....
Though I have read that doggy helps semen get further up and the position helps to open the cervix so......Wink

DoAsDreamersDo · 10/01/2018 08:50

haha Milk I was wondering if Steak meant she'd been on all fours as in doggy! It's only when you said that it was all four threads Grin

Bubblegum89 · 10/01/2018 09:22

JustWaiting sorry to see you go :( totally get needing a break though. I’m not actively ttc at the minute myself (no opks, no scheduling sex, no fertility apps etc) I’m considering just stopping altogether tbh and focusing on doing stuff this year like holidays and whatnot. I’d say I hope to see you back soon but actually I’d rather you never had to come back! Haha.

Another baby bomb this morning. A couple who got married in August last year and my friend said to the guy who got married "ooh babies soon, it doesn't take long you know" and bam they've announced they're expecting already so must have fallen on pretty quickly! Happy for them but bloody hell how come everyone else is so fertile!!

Bubblegum89 · 10/01/2018 09:28

Also, it’s been 16 years of having periods and 15 months of ttc and I have a nice new symptom I’ve never had before: sore boobs. BEFORE ovulation. Going on my last period, I’m now on cd16 (no idea what dpo) Assuming my cycle has gone back to normal (which it hasn’t) I should have ovulated on Monday. I think I must have actually ov’d on Friday maybe. Anyway, Saturday and Sunday, my boobs were in agony. Like, worse than ever. I usually get sore boobs in the week before af starts and they’re uncomfortable but bearable. But this was something else, they were sore like the times I’ve been pregnant. I wouldn’t even let my OH hug me. Then Monday, they were fine again. Obviously I googled it, turns out you can get sore boobs before/during ovulation. Has anyone ever had this randomly happen to them? I’ve never had boobs that sore when not pregnant and never any time before 3-4 days after ovulation. It’s really baffled me!

Dreamers ugh so annoying. My partner’s friend got married in the summer and everyone was like ooh next it’s babies! lol and behold, they got pregnant on their honeymoon. Although sadly, she did have a mc at 12 weeks
