Thread numero four-o.

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shall not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shall not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shall not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shall not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shall not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shall not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if they do so.

Welcome and welcome. We’re all very nice and friendly despite being horrible bitter old cows ☺️

Sounds good @bubble at least they’re looking into things in more detail. Being fobbed off by docs is the worst cause they’re supposed to have the answers- I always feel funny asking about the stuff I’ve researched (dr google!).

Welcome @biscay. Here’s hoping you won’t be here long (in the nicest possible way!)

SparkwoodAnd21 · 16/01/2018 18:57

Am in fertile week and really can’t be bothered. I never thought having a shag would be so much bloody effort. So we will have a glass of wine, watch The Crown and DTD. Which sounds nice but I’d rather go to sleep. 🍷👑🍆

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 16/01/2018 19:09

Thanks @Milknosugar1 I just love the soothing sounds of The Shipping Forecast although I'm not really sure why! There's just something very comforting about it tumultuous times.

Out of interest, where did the eating yams recommendation come from? Did someone actually suggest this? Will a sweet potato do instead?

MynameisJune · 16/01/2018 19:14

@bubble so pleased your Dr seems to be listening to you. Fingers crossed you’re not waiting too long.

Welcome @biscay hope your stay is short here!

New symptom today, left boob behind my nipple feels like it’s on fire. Fine to touch but the pain inside is ridiculous. Never had hurty boobs before so guess it wasn’t going to be long before they arrived 🙄

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 16/01/2018 19:22

If there's one thing that I've become sure of this month is that symptom spotting is absolutely pointless. I've had every symptom going this month including late AF and it's all come to nothing. I am so over symptom spotting. It's just mental torture

SoozC · 16/01/2018 19:26

Interesting that your DTD emoticon is an aubergine, Sparky...!

Still no sign of af here.

Welcome Biscay, feel free to be grumpy here and moan lots and feel sorry for yourself - it's what we all do (especially me)!

SoozC · 16/01/2018 19:29

Biscay, yes, yams are A Thing and were recommended to me and others by someone who got pregnant on cycle #1 as they apparently work. We don't know if it's eating them or yam lube or whatever. If you do try them, feel free to report back...

MynameisJune · 16/01/2018 19:34

@biscay after so many cycles of no bfp’s apart from one in Sept that ended in mc, the only symptoms I look for now are those that signal af is coming. It’s just easier and means I save on tests. Silver lining and all that....

NewSense · 16/01/2018 19:51

Glad you managed to push for further investigation bubblegum . Well done for being firm!

biscay hi! Have you figured out how to stop the symptom spotting? I still do it, several years in... Hmm need to stop, but I still notice things and even though I tell myself it's not a symptom, the little voice keeps saying "but it miiiiight beeee...."

Yam lube Grin hilarious! I've had sweet potato twice in the last week. Orally. No difference, though I'm in tww and I think the benefits are meant to be seen before ovulation?!

Doughnuts. Excellent. I can definitely plan a diet around that.

DoAsDreamersDo · 16/01/2018 20:28

So should we all just eat doughnuts 🍩 then? Nice one!!

Welcome biscay

I’m glad today went well bubble hopefully you’ll find out what’s going on soon x

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 16/01/2018 20:55

Well we've now tried preseed and conceive plus which turned out to be no use whatever so I think yam lube maybe next on this list - probably be a lot cheaper too!

@NewSense no tips but I'm going to try it. After this last month, I'm determined the only thing that will even make me consider that I'm pregnant is a bfp!

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 16/01/2018 20:57

@MynameisJune sorry about your mc. Hope you get some good news soon Flowers

minime2017 · 16/01/2018 20:57

I'll get on board with the doughnut diet in the name of fertility.

SoozC · 16/01/2018 21:01

I, too, can make that sacrifice. Something tells me it won't be as hard to stick to this diet.

@milk I think we will leave the ‘dirty’ dreams to you, seeing as it was your idea. I’m sure no one would want to deprive you 😂

Bubblegum89 · 16/01/2018 23:48

Thanks ladies Flowers I was a bit uplifted until I came on here and saw yet ANOTHER thread of someone getting a BFP in their first month of trying and it knocked me back down again. But I’m trying to stay positive and just think of all the things I can do this year that I couldn’t do with a baby or if I was pregnant. Going on holidays, going out with friends, taking little trips away etc. My daughter sees her dad sometimes so it’s nice to have time to ourselves and it means we get the best of both worlds so we are very lucky in that way. I think I need to start living the life I’ve got instead of mourning the one I don’t have. And just try and stay hopeful that it’ll happen for us one day. Despite my daughter’s insistence that she is happy being an only child 😂

@milk sorry I meant the dirty —disgusting— dream was your idea 😂

@bubble living the life I’ve got is my motto this year as well. I’ve got a a couple of long weekend trips booked already for this year, plus 2 family holidays planned. All of which would be harder pregnant or with a newborn.

FairyAnn · 17/01/2018 07:22

Forget yams, I've got a friend who swears blind that three margaritas did the trick for her 😉

I need to sit on my hands for the next 8 days....it's so hard!

Cariad2017 · 17/01/2018 09:28

11dpo and a BFN at this end so I’m fairly sure I’m out. Roll on cycle 17 (yawn). We literally tried everything this month and timed it all to perfection so it’s very very frustrating, particularly as DH has a work trip which may well clash with the tail end of my fertile week next cycle.... (I’m hopeful that I’ll ov before he goes)

Bubble, Milk and Mynameis - I definitely think you have the right philosophy. Having spent 2017 mourning the child I never had (which admittedly wasn’t helped by the fact that literally everyone I hung out with on my last Mat Leave and all my female work colleagues got upduffed), I’m determined to make the most of life in 2018. I booked a trip to a lovely hotel in Cornwall yesterday and we’re busy planning a kitchen renovation which should drastically improve our enjoyment of our house. I’m also currently daydreaming of a holiday abroad in September (which will be our consolation prize if we get to the end of March without a hint of a BFP...)

MynameisJune · 17/01/2018 09:46

We’ve also decided if nothing happens by March that we will go privately for a ful suite of tests. There is a clinic not far from us and I spoke to them yesterday. Having a bit of a plan is helping.

Sat here at work getting back ache, so pretty sure af is going to arrive. Probably early on Friday when I’ve got the day off to go shopping with my Mum and sister. Although being early won’t be too bad this month as I’m away at the end of next fertile week so bringing that forward will help!
