Thought someone better start a new thread as we're getting close to the 1000 mark!
Ready - what's your question?

fi - this was my response to someone aking a couple of months ago about planning when to get pg:
At the beginning of last year when DH and I started down the ttc road my sister had just asked me to be her bridesmaid, so we talked about dates and things (would she mind having a tiny baby at the wedding or a fat bridesmaid) and she said not to wait to get pg as that was more important. (I have a lovely sister!)
Fast forward 16 months and the wedding's 3 weeks away and I'm still not even pg, let along huge or covered in baby sick as we worried I might be.
toomuch - no idea on clinic waiting lists but not expecting to be starting tratment anytime soon (at least I won't be disappointed!)
treenie - hope you feel better soon x

poor treenie! Get well soon!

no more, i think this is the best attitude to have. We were plannig a big trip to india in oct, and have decided we will still go whatever happens. dont want to put my life on hold just because im trying for a baby.

just spoke with DH and hes all for this now. He agrees that we just go for it and let things happen they way they will. if it happens it happens.

xx

ps. im on the strongest of elephant pills at the moment, the doc prescribed them as i have a reacuuribg ear infection and hes hoping that these will shift it. My body is prob in no good shape at the mo Tc so it prob wont happen!

graysongirl · 12/06/2007 15:28

Back again.
Please don't think you are being insensitive any of you, its honestly fine to be happy and excited, thats how it should be and am sure you will all be pg really soon. Thanks nomore, yes I was just trying to say don't get disappointed Fifi and toomuch cos I really was gutted when it didn't happen immediatley which was crap. Although as nomore said your hormone levels go really high when you first come off the pill as so you can be caught straightaway.
My first blood test is on Mon 18th but won't know anything for at least a week probably two. Its a Day 21 blood test although mine is on day 23 as I have a 31 day cycle ( well since Feb anyway!) and will be testing mainly for progesterone to see if I have ovulated (which I don't always) but also testing LH & FSH hormone and lots of other things like kidney function, thyroid etc.....
I honestly think its me as I think I have a very late and short luteual phase (the 2 weeks after you have ovulated and before your period) and think I might have to have treatment but I really wanted DH tested too as if its both of us then we are going to find it alot more difficult than if its just me or him. He's just waiting for the letter for his appointment at clinic.
DH is toally marvellous and cool about being tested although I have said I'll go with him and maybe lend a helping hand !!! Apparently the porn is rubbish in fertility clinics!!!!
You really have to see the funny side or go crackers.....

graysongirl · 12/06/2007 15:35

Forgot to say on earlier post I am 30 and DH is 34. bye x

PinkMartini · 12/06/2007 18:03

My god - so busy here today - it's great!
Adding my stats to the list.

Fi - 32yrs married 18months, came off the pill 1st june, new to all of this but not to children (have been a nursery nurse for 14 years, working as a nursery nurse in a hospital, a nursery supervisor, and as a nanny))

nomore - age 29, married 5 years, ttc 18 months currently undergoing inital fertility tests before being referred (dh has v. low % of properly formed o~ so will need assisted conception of some sort, waiting on my results before we can proceed)

Toomuch - Age 27 - started TTC June 07 - just coming of the pill now so waiting to see what will happen.

Treenie - age 27. Married nearly 2 years. Came off the pill last week so now on cd 7 (if counting from first day of af, which I think is what I'm meant to do) Waiting till after next af to start trying.

Graysongirl, TTC: 1 year this month, waiting for my first blood tests and DH SA tests

pinkmartini - age 29. Dh is 32 and we've been together nearly ten years.
Been TTC really since March/April 07 but not temping or checking CM (ew) but do use Persona so I know roughly when OV.

nomoremagnolia · 12/06/2007 20:40

oooo I used to live in Higbury! Lovely place to live. I suspected it might have been Upper Street where you saw all the bugaboos - I'm right, aren't I?!

nomore - I think I like being stalked! Am feeling a bit rubbish (although am sort of enjoying the symptoms if that makes sense). Have really sore breasts and also insomnia which is really affecting me - SMT sent me home from school this morning so I have been napping. No sickness as yet, alsthough feeling a bit 'off' - but could very well be lack of sleep.

Still haven't joined an AN thread!

And get rid of all the poncey cafes. I liked it before they gentrified it. Bit rough round the edges!

Gillydaffodil age 33 (DH 32); married for 9 ½ years (yes really!). TTC since Jan 06. BFP in Sept but MC in Oct . Trying again since Jan 07.

toomuchtimeonline · 13/06/2007 10:20

Just posted the updated list

Hi Bella - congrats on the bfp! I've read some of your earlier posts and am really pleased for you!

Gilly - congrats on finding somewhere to live in London. We moved down here a few years ago and finding somewhere to rent is the biggest stress!!

toomuchtimeonline · 13/06/2007 10:22

Pinkmartini - I'm trying to not get too obsessed and therefore wasn't planning on temping or checking CM etc but I'm a bit worried that after years on the pill my periods will take ages to regulate and therefore I'll never know when I'm ovulating. How does persona work? Is that a brand of ovulation sticks?

BellaBear · 13/06/2007 10:31

aw thanks toomuch!

just for the record: I didn't temp, just estimated ovulation and had sex every day for about a fortnight. For four months.

PinkMartini · 13/06/2007 10:35

Every day for a fortnight? didn't you get tired?
Anyway this is Persona it's just a family planning method - and gives you green and red days for having sex - it's obviously based round not getting pregnant so we have sex on the red days rather than how we used to use it - preventatively.

I know I'm not the first to say this but my god, when we were at school and were told that you could pregnant just by fooling around and now you really it's actually quite hard work.
I have aching pains today and am CD20/21 and think maybe AF is on her way

toomuchtimeonline · 13/06/2007 10:43

BellaB -well done you - every day for a fortnight for 4 months!!! Not sure I'd manage that.. Although I'm hoping to become a sexfiend (TMI!?) after I take my final pill - as Treenie and Fi have promised me this will happen therefore maybe I'll manage every day for 4 months

Did it only take you 4 months from starting ttc to BFP BellaB?

toomuchtimeonline · 13/06/2007 10:47

Thanks PinkMartini! It says you have to wait for at least 2 AFs after coming off the pill before using it - so I'll wait for now but always worth a go.

Is it expensive to use?

How many red days do you have a month?

Treenie · 13/06/2007 10:49

Hi Ladies
am back after thinking I was actually at death's door yesterday! Ok that's a bit dramatic cause it was only a 24 hour bug I reckon but felt so ill.
Anway, still a bit ropey but def well enough to get back on here!

Gilly welcome to London! I'm in SW so don't know the north so well but my sister lived there for a while and loved it. And you will be near a very cool maternity shop called Push so when you do get preggers you won't have far to go! Shopping is one of the many things I love about this place!

Toomuch, get yourself some clear blue ovualation tests and start testing from about CD 11 or 12 I would say. All the instructions are on the pack. When I came off the pill the last time I used them and they told me I was ov day 20/21. Which coinsided with mucus and ov pains so I reckon they are pretty good. And try not to worry about periods taking ages to come back. Mine were back to normal straight away last time I came off so hoping it will be the same this time. Of course everyone is different but I reckon there is no point in not being positive until you have a reason to - does that make sense?

BellaBear · 13/06/2007 10:49

four months since mc, conceived first month by same method (but mc at six weeks) had been off pill for three months when we started ttc the first time.

I've had my fill of sex for the next year I think (just as well tbh!)

BellaBear · 13/06/2007 10:50

oh and didn't use ov sticks - one more thing to get stressed about for me but they work for some

Treenie · 13/06/2007 10:55

And PinkMartini i totally know what you mean about school. They need to give girls lessons in fertility I reckon to make them aware of the fact that what you do to your body can mean you lower your chances of getting preggers. Not sure how much of an effect it would have on a group of 15 year olds being told not do drink/smoke for the sake of babies they'll have 15 years later, but worth a go I reckon.
Also think girls should be told about how their career choices will effect their lives as mothers. I'm really lucky that I can do my job from home and work my own hours, but I have friends who went into law or jobs in the city and know they'll never be able to work part time. They wish someone had explained to them when they were younger the implications their career choices would have on family life. Maybe by the time our daughters get to that stage things will be different.
