How's the TWW going @Chelonia? When's AF due?

Good work on the DTD timing @TheNewbieStep!

I had a letter from the consultant. No mention of my blocked cervix in it. I wonder if he even knows - did the radiographers pass that info on? Also, no actual results other than "You're ovulating which means you're making an egg" which is bloody annoying as I've got a PhD in Biochemistry and I like to analyse these things correctly! Would I be being a cock to phone them up and tell them that and ask for more info? The end result is the same - keep trying - but it would make me feel better and more in control.

Anyway, at least I'm ovulating. Think I'll get a positive OPK tonight or tomorrow and OH has said he will make himself available, so fingers crossed in for another chance this month.

Blondcat · 17/07/2018 11:05

@79andnotout good news that you are ovulating. I don't think it would be being a cock to phone and ask for more information. It is your body at the end of the day and if you want to know more you should be able to. I asked for actual results when I had my blood tests done as I just wanted to know and could then ask Dr Google what was the range of 'normal' so I knew if I had just scraped a normal or week within.

No news here af due today got cramps and spots (and dh will tell you pms!) but no sign as yet though think it is imminent.

Chelonia · 17/07/2018 11:12

Ha @79andnotout I feel your pain! I'm veterinary and have been involved in some reproductive procedures including IVF so I just start asking an unnecessarily technical question with pertinent terminology and the doctors clue up very quickly that I need a little more info than most. (Translation: I probably have the human equivalent of "This dog bites!" on my notes)
I think there are definitely ways of asking for more info without sounding pushy tho - I think it's a very valid question to mention that you're concerned your blocked cervix may cause problems and see what answer is given? (Agree not a good sign it wasn't mentioned unless fingers crossed they don't actually think it is?) And excellent news you're ovulating. Do you know what your ovarian reserve is? Fingers crossed for good ovulation and perfect timing.
@TheNewbieStep that's really reassuring about you not getting positive OPKs it sets my mind at rest a bit thank you! Congrats on the bloods and your excellent timing, fingers crossed!
Well I think I'm out as spotting today on first due date of AF.... Until 24hrs ago I was rolling my eyes whenever anyone hopefully mentioned their AF might be implantation bleed as I completely didn't believe in it, suddenly today I'm telling myself it's a good sign there was brown-pink-brown but it's gotten more convincing as AF now so I've given myself a talking to and permission to have a Bailey's in bed! I hate this, I can feel the months slipping away, why don't we cycle weekly!? Much more efficient!!

TheNewbieStep · 17/07/2018 11:15

@79andnotout

You bloody crack me up. No. You would not be a cock. Do it. I'm about to call for
My blood results. They'll mean nothing to me but having consulted Dr Google Im concernées that my ridiculously light periods mean I have hostile uterous!!! Not enough padding for a sticky bean!

79andnotout · 17/07/2018 11:25

Ha okay, thanks everyone! My (all male) colleagues will be wondering why I keep popping out of the office to try to get through to the gynae receptionist all afternoon now..

@The NewbieStep - I have always had light periods and have been pregnant before about ten years ago (terminated at six weeks or so) so that wasn't a problem for me. I think there is a natural variability. Can't remember if light periods is a change for you though - that would be more worrying and possibly a sign of hormonal imbalance, but as your hormones came back okay then possibly not? So many things to go wrong in this process!

Fingers crossed AF is not on the way @Blondcat and @Chelonia. Although, Baileys in bed? Are you on another continent? If you're on UK time, good effort! I don't think I've ever had Baileys for breakfast before :)

TheNewbieStep · 17/07/2018 12:03

Always been light, then sporadic - then got a PCOS diagnosis 10 years ago. Went back on pill, came off April 2016 - been light but 26-28 day cycles sinc . My friends take the piss out of my Mini tampax! X

Gaby1982 · 17/07/2018 12:31

Hello everyone,
I've been lurking from behind my phone screen for a few days and I just thought I'd say hi.
I'm 35 (turning 36 in October) and have been TTC with DH for 1.5 years. We got pregnant in December last year, but had a MMC at 7 weeks and had to have a procedure to get rid of the pregnancy tissue. We took a few months to rest from the roller-coaster of emotions and we've now been TTC for 2 cycles. I'm currently with AF but we'll be trying again as soon as we can.
I also have Hashimoto (auto-immune thyroid disease) and I'm currently on 25 micrograms of Levothyroxine every other day.
It feels a bit weird to be back on Mumsnet after being very active on it when I got pregnant, then completely disappeared when we lost the pregnancy.
I'm just taking folic acid at the moment (no extra vitamins) as I feel it was such a waste of money to be taking the Pregnacare ones for such a long time without any positive results. What are you all taking?

79andnotout · 17/07/2018 15:16

Hi @Gaby1982! Sorry you're back on here. I also have thyroid issues but currently not on any meds. WRT vitamins, folic acid and vitd for pregnancy, and omega3/cod liver oil & glucosamine sulphate - the former because I eat too many biscuits and the latter as I run and my joints are getting old. I did take coenzyme q10 for a couple of months but as our TTC has been going on in the years and is sporadic (depending on OH's frame of mind more than anything) I stopped taking them.

SOME success with getting results. Got through to the hospital and got my day21 (or day 18 it actually was as I had a 25 day cycle that month and they said 7 days before my period was due) results - 21.2. Not even sure what unit that is. Anyway, seems pretty borderline that, but whatever. I know day 21 tests are hard to pinpoint for the peak of progesterone.

They couldn't find my day 3 results and are going to phone me back apparently. I really want to know what my FSH is! So frustrating.

79andnotout · 17/07/2018 16:53

Well I got my results and they're not that great! FSH 12.0. My AMH was 8, so that sounds about right. Do any of the rest of you have any results I can compare with?

I think that is bad news for IVF but doesn't rule out natural conception (maybe what few eggs I have left are all cracking!).

Anyway, not feeling down about it at all. It is pretty much what I was expecting.

Blondcat · 17/07/2018 17:46

@79andnotout glad you got some results. I have looked back at my results from Feb and they are as follows :
Progesterone 29.1
Estradiol (sp?) 202
Tsh 1.44
Lh 2.1
Fsh 5.2

Can't see that I had a result for amh sorry. Hope these help.

79andnotout · 17/07/2018 17:54

Hi @Blondcat - yeah those all look like great numbers! Thanks for sharing.
I paid for the AMH so that's why you wont have that. I think only IVF clinics do it for the NHS.

Blondcat · 17/07/2018 18:05

@79andnotout that makes sense. Weirdly I got those results the month I fell pregnant so who knows maybe this will be your month. Fx.
Dh has not been tested as we didn't get around to that. If nothing happens in next few months think we will get him tested to make sure that's not a reason for the mc (pretty sure it was just an unlucky not meant to be one rather than an issue).

hatethesnow · 17/07/2018 21:50

Evening ladies,

I hope you don't mind me going late into your thread(s).

I'm 36, 37 in 3+2.
I came off the implant end of April last year and fell pregnant this time last year though I MC just under 6w. I hadn't had a period before I found out I was pregnant. Only realising after my boobs got Massive and sore. We wasn't trying hence me not testing early.

Anyway, I had a few months of irregular periods and now for the last 4-5 cycles I've been having 24 day cycles. I'm unsure whether my short cycles will hinder my chances of getting pregnant?

I'm really hoping July will be a lucky month for myself and everyone still TTC ✨ x

hatethesnow · 17/07/2018 21:51

⬇️meant to say joining late not going late

TheNewbieStep · 17/07/2018 22:39

Welcome to the recent joiners Smile

I have requested my blood results- collect them from the GP tomorrow.... so stay tuned for my obsessive freaking out... Wink

hatethesnow · 17/07/2018 22:46

@TheNewbieStep
Thank you.

Good luck with your results. How long have you been TTC, not really sure on what the bloods results give? Has/does the doc recommend block ids if taking a while? I've not spoken to my doc about ttc. X

hatethesnow · 17/07/2018 22:48

I should really check before posting that my comments make sense and the phone hasn't changed my words #hatepredictivetxt

79andnotout · 18/07/2018 09:34

Ooh fingers crossed @TheNewbieStep!

Welcome @hatethesnow! I think it depends on short cycles. Do you know how long your luteal phase is? Do you track ovulation/temp at all?
My cycles vary between 23 - 28 days but my luteal phase is a pretty consistent 11 days which I think is fine, it's the first part of the cycle that changes. My shorter cycles are an age thing though, I always had 28 day cycles prior to my mid thirties (I'm 38).

I've been TTC for about a year but only managed sex in the fertile week about four times (relationship troubles!). Although we DTD last night which was bang on ovulation so that's two months in a row now.
OH seems much more on board these days, and a lot happier with the idea of having kids (when it is likely too bloody late, sigh). Even if we never get to the kids stage, at least the last year has pushed us to sort our intimacy issues and relationship out, so I'm actually pretty happy despite all the bad test results and lack of overall hope of conception!

After a year of trying my GP said I could have my bloods checked, to confirm ovulation, check for elevated FSH (which can be a marker of menopause), and to check for oestrogen/progesterone imbalances - although don't think they checked my oestrogen annoyingly.

TheNewbieStep · 18/07/2018 14:28

@79andnotout @hatethesnow @Blondcat

Fuuuuuuuck.

I knew my testosterone was higher than normal, due to the PCOS. What I didn't have a clue about is how high.

Should be

79andnotout · 18/07/2018 15:36

That's crap @TheNewbieStep! Have you not seen an endocinologist at all?

TheNewbieStep · 18/07/2018 16:55

@79andnotout

No - never. Not even with the original PCOS diagnosis 10 years ago.

PixieN · 18/07/2018 17:07

That’s awful @TheNewbieStep - are you going to push for the referral? Sounds like it should have happened a while ago!

Do you have to wait a year before you can have tests? One of my friends fibbed & said her & her DP have been trying for 12 months as she’s 38 & doesn’t want to wait. We’ve been trying for 9 months but haven’t had any tests yet. We probably need to dtd more often, & it’s a good week this week, but i’m just feeling so tired! Break up from work on Friday & I just want to sleep! How do you manage when you’re shattered? Confused

@Chelonia - did you find out what was hiding behind the bookcase? My cat gets worse. I found what looked like entrails on the dining room carpet yesterday Sad

Hello to all the new joiners and good luck to his month to everyone TTC x

PixieN · 18/07/2018 17:08

*this month

Blondcat · 18/07/2018 17:37

@thenewbiestep sorry to hear that complete rubbish you should have seen someone before now I would have thought when you had your diagnosis years ago. Hope you can be seen quickly and they can help so you can get on with ivf.

TheNewbieStep · 18/07/2018 22:12

@PixieN - get into your GP, find out who is the Women's Health specialist at your surgery- see them. Get a date on your record of when you started trying. You may never need that line in the sand (fingers firmly crossed) but it all helps x

I went to my GP to verbalise the fact I was coming off the pill as my 'start trying date' - and no, if you have concerns, get your bloods done. Could be a simple thing that makes all the difference- they would rather you get a BFP than have to IVF refer you.

Thanks for the kindness all - so do I push for a referral?
