16dpo, no sign of AF, breasts extremely tender, nauseous for past 2/7 and RHR has stopped dropping and instead gone up for last three days... I need to do a test, don’t I???

So scared it’ll be negative after previous disappointments, haven’t managed to pluck up the courage yet!

Janefx40 · 30/03/2018 23:06

@Darkstar4855 it all sounds good. You don't have to test if you don't want to. You can wait and see what happens. But if you do want to test, we'll all be rooting for you.

If you test, collect the wee in a container so you can test again if you need to - well that's what I do anyway

Xxx

Darkstar4855 · 31/03/2018 00:13

Decided to be brave and tested, only had a standard CB test to hand but it came up pretty much straight away with a strong BFP! Am still shaking, can’t believe it as I’d more or less given up hope of ever getting pregnant.

I know it’s early days and it may not stick but just knowing we can conceive is a huge boost after so many months without even a whisper of a line on a test.

This thread seems to be on a lucky streak at the moment, fingers crossed there will be more BFPs to come.

Janefx40 · 31/03/2018 00:32

Wow @Darkstar4855 amazing news. This is so fantastic. And a strong bfp at night too is super good. Many congrats. So pleased for you xxxx

Darkstar4855 · 31/03/2018 01:01

Thanks @Janefx40, fingers crossed for your next ivf cycle, hope it’s a BFP for you too xx

FingersXssd83 · 31/03/2018 07:34

Lovely, b congratulations @Darkstar4855 ! How long have you been trying for? We're on cycle 9, off to see the doc in a week for tests/referrals. Love seeing positive news on here, gives me hope!

Darkstar4855 · 31/03/2018 09:04

Thanks @FingersXssd83! We started trying in August but there was one month we took a break because we were both working long shifts and feeling the pressure so this was cycle #7 for us.

We’d just started the tests - OH went to do his semen analysis on the day AF was due so a day later and he’d have been off the hook!

Blondcat · 31/03/2018 10:48

@blueberry1 it was five days before ov not for five days in fw! Phew too old for that much too tired! Glad to hear all going well though large and tired.
@darkstar4855 woo hoo congrats fx for a sticky one for you too.

I am knackered today as went to friends wedding yesterday which was great very emotional and was really hard holding it together (seem to be a bit more tearful) and not drinking. Glad I bought a dress which hid the belly as get very bloated when eating.

Cobby81 · 31/03/2018 14:11

@Darkstar4855 Congratulations wonderful to have another BFP on this thread. x

Melamine · 31/03/2018 14:31

So pleased to see all the good news! Hooray @Darkstar4855!

79andnotout · 31/03/2018 21:29

Ah, great news! Congratulations @Darkstar! Hopefully some more of the good luck will rub off on the rest of this thread!

@Jane are you starting your next round of ivf soon?

Glad all is going well @Blueberry! Home stretch indeed... hopefully that baby is not as big as expected.

All ok with me. Plodding along with the usual low expectations. Fertile week is coming up and I've not had any mid cycle bleeding this month so will see if I can persuade the OH to DTD...

Blueberry1 · 31/03/2018 22:23

Fab news @darkstar4855 Smile. Waiting to test is worth it, then BFP is unequivocal! So no cocktails or trampolining.

@Blondcat - oh silly me. But you can understand I was impressed ha ha.

Had a bit of a funny turn today. For about 20 minutes, I felt nauseous with bad stomach cramps (not like contractions). I bounced around on birthing ball and DP brought me a Redbush tea and then I felt better. Quite strange; never happened before.

Janefx40 · 31/03/2018 23:05

@Blueberry1 argh poor you. Hope you're feeling better now. Not surprising you have cramps etc - a lot going on in there.

Hi @79andnotout lovely to hear from you. I'm starting not this cycle but the next. But my body has gone into lockdown and am currently on cd48 - I had a scan the about 4 days ago and he said I was still pre ovulation so we have at least 6 weeks before we start. I feel great - I was saying I needed a break from TTC but didn't think I could take one as am so aged etc. But with my body refusing to budge we have no choice. At first I was stressed but at about day 35 I finally relaxed. They're seeing me again 10th Apr and if I haven't come on then he will give me something to bring on my period.

How are you? Great that spotting has stopped this month. Good luck DTD! X

Blondcat · 01/04/2018 08:52

@blueberry1 ha ha yes I thought that. I would have been impressed too! I guess there are a lot of new experiences to go through and a tiny human growing.

@79andnotout great news that the spotting has stopped fx for you this month.

@janefx40 fx for af to show so you can get on with the next cycle of Ivf.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 01/04/2018 09:28

Darkstar that’s fantastic. I’m interested in the dropped average hr, is that a symptom then?

Darkstar4855 · 01/04/2018 17:35

I don’t know how accurate it is but resting heart rate is said to rise during the second half of your cycle and then drop again just before AF - roughly in line with progesterone levels and temps. Mine was dropping steeply from 10dpo so I assumed I was out, then it suddenly swung back up a couple of days before AF and is still going up now!

@Janefx40 fx for AF soon.

@79andnotout good luck for fw

@Blueberry1 glad you are ok, that sounds a bit scary. Yes it was lovely after all that time spent squinting at FRERs desperately willing a line to appear. My hands were shaking so hard I had trouble peeing on the stick though!

35+ TTC #1 thread 2!
YuleABUnREASTIEable · 01/04/2018 18:33

Erm interesting darkstar. Can I ask what app/heart rate monitor you use? I wear one for working out and am a bit of a stat person and would love to be able to do charts like that on myself Blush

79andnotout · 01/04/2018 18:56

Thanks @darkstar and @blondcat. Although as soon ask I typed that I got a bit of blood. Annoying! It does make me feel better about not wasting NHS resources though. I have another appointment at my local hospital for tests later this month and thought it might be a waste if all had resolved itself.

@blueberry has the pain completely gone? How many weeks are you now? It's not braxton hicks or anything is it? Bit early I know but I'd definitely be googling all sorts by now just in case.

@Janefx40 ah great your body is enforcing a break. And glad you had a lovely holiday. A cabin in the woods sounds like my idea of heaven (as long as I can keep my imagination at bay in the dark of night). We just got back from a week away too which was really relaxing.

Does anyone else feel their desire for a child goes up and down with your hormones? Around ovulation my baby brain goes beserk. The rest of the month I seem ok and able to deal with a potentially child free future. Sometimes I think my body and brain aren't under my control at all!

Darkstar4855 · 01/04/2018 20:57

@Yule I have a Fitbit which comes with its own app.

Blueberry1 · 02/04/2018 22:51

@79andnotout - yes thanks I'm fine now. It wasn't Braxton Hicks contractions (I had one & it was quite different). I think it was just slightly upset stomach made much worse by digestive system being squashed by baby. Fingers crossed you have a productive fertile week!

@JaneFx40 hope biological "strike" is over soon. Did you get that before? Is it not side effect of previous IVF? I was told AF can take time to go back to normal after IVF, although doesn't always.

As for me, I'm increasingly tired and slow & baby is jabbing/kicking me quite uncomfortably. Sometimes it's possible to see a lump (limb?) slightly protruding from my bump; DP's teenager (back from university) finds that freaky Shock!

Presh12345 · 03/04/2018 07:12

I remember you sooz. I'm still lingering around. No luck since my mmc in June. Still trying but now feels it's becoming a chore. big sigh

Russkispy · 03/04/2018 15:49

Congratulations Darkstar!
Blueberry take it easy and rest well as much as you can!
As for me, last month went home for polyp removal and endo scratch, suffice to say, we didn’t do but went for IUI instead. My dr warned me of IUI failure but we still went for it. And it was BFN. Gutted but knew it might not work. Just got back from home where my dr removed the polyp and I had endo scratch! That happened on CD9. We DTD yesterday and I’ve only just realised I’m in the middle of fertile window, ovulation usually happens cd14-16. I’m on CD14. Do we have a chance of falling pregnant this cycle? Or too soon after the scratch?
We’re booked for Iui end of this month. With Clomid and Ovitrelle in tow.
I’ll be 42 in 2 weeks 😱😱😉😉
I should probably be on different page (TTC for #2) but I still remember you all and follow you progress. Feel like home with you girls 😉

Blueberry1 · 03/04/2018 22:18

@Russkispy - stranger things have happened.... I had a colleague who got pregnant waiting to do IVF embryo transfer after fibroid surgery (after 2+ years of failing to conceive naturally). Good luck for 2nd BFP however it happens. I am having to rest more as I'm easily tired, uncomfortable & slow!

Had midwife appointment today & she confirmed that my pregnancy continues in unproblematic fashion Smile. Recommendation to induce at 39+6 if nothing happening by then (due to age related risk) doesn't change however, but midwife said it can work well & still result in low intervention birth that could take place in birth centre.

ALRM · 04/04/2018 18:37

Hi All,

So I have just got through the marathon read of the thread and think I am caught up! A LOT has gone on.

I am really glad to find this thread and you all seem lovely so hope it's ok to join?

I am 35 (36 on sat 🤤) and we have been trying for about 15 months. In that time I have had three pregnancies. In order they are: a mmc after 5 cycles, an ectopic 7 cycles after that and most recently an early mc at 5 wks which was 3 cyxles after the ectopic. Mc was two weeks ago.

I am getting frustrated with time ticking away and don't think I qualify for any investigations as the ectopic doesn't count as a mc so I don't have the required three under my belt. But getting back on it and waiting for my first AF so I can get back to tracking. Anyone know anything about recurrent MC and tests?

79andnotout · 05/04/2018 14:12

welcome, @ALRM. Sorry for your losses. I don't know anything about recurrent miscarriages but hopefully you get some good advice.

@Russkispy - hopefully you have some good luck with this cycle and with the lui. Fingers crossed.

I am at the end of another fertile week with no sex. Tried to initiate last night and was rebuffed straight away. I've messaged our therapist as I'm sick of this. If he doesn't actually want kids, he needs to make it clear and we move on, separately or together. Limbo land is making me stressed and ill.
