Actually could I ask a TMI question about AF?

Does anybody else get clots? Only about 1/4 of my AF goes onto the pad / tampon. 3/4 comes out as clots between the size of a 5p and 50p piece.

It just made me think when you were describing your mcs - mine has always just been this horrible clotting exactly like AF and I wondered if clots were normal.

(Obviously I'm obsessing about a clotting disorder and contemplating elf-medicating with aspirin!).

GreyCloudsToday · 13/10/2017 10:55

*self-medicating

but elf-medicating could also be fun

TheGrumpySquirrel · 13/10/2017 11:00

I don’t know really as I use a mooncup. Maybe I should examine the contents more! My acupuncturist actually asked me the same question re clots. My af has only been 2 days long every month since mc which is worrying me. By the way I did take aspirin one cycle and it made no difference as far as I could see, but I’ve heard good things.

@Grumpy Oh I hope so. I don't know much about BBT but it looks pretty good to me

yellowfrontdoor · 13/10/2017 11:25

Congratulations on the BFP’s!!!! Amazing news!

@TheGrumpySquirrel I’ll be keeping everything crossed.

I think baby loss awareness week has definitely been playing on my mind a lot, I would say it contributed to my mini-breakdown on Tuesday. It’s a double-edged sword. Great it’s being acknowledged but it’s a massive trigger for some me.

@Flatwhite31 it’s not official counselling I don’t think but the Miscarriage Association has a help line you can call if you get a moment during the day. AFAIK it’s staffed by volunteers who have had losses.

KerryLeanne84 · 13/10/2017 11:50

GreyClouds- clots are completely normal as part of a healthy cycle. In fact I think they're a really good sign as it shows your uterine lining was thick and healthy. I used to regularly get large clots as a teenager but less as I've gotten older. I'd be far more worried if your period was scant.

Grumpy - wow so much sex! 🤞 Keeping fingers crossed for you

I take a low dose aspirin daily - I can't remember exactly how it's supposed to help now but it apparently can't hurt! I got pregnant taking it in June

Juancornetto · 13/10/2017 11:54

greyclouds yes I got big clots in a couple of AFs after my MC, the first one especially.

Juancornetto · 13/10/2017 11:55

Congratulations unicorn fabulous news Smile

Fillybee · 13/10/2017 12:13

@greyclouds I never have clots with periods, only with miscarriages. For my latest pregnancy I self medicated with lose dose aspirin even though my blood tests didn't show any clotting issues (checked with GP who said go for it the low dose can't do any harm). I miscarried anyway. I heard you were only supposed to start it when you had BFP as other wise it can interfere with implantation... don't know if this is science fact or not! Haven't started taking it this time round, I'll ask the consultant when I go on Tuesday. I had also heard it can interfere with high dose folic acid (which I'm on) so that's why I haven't started taking it this time x

Fillybee · 13/10/2017 12:13

@unicorn is this cycle directly after your miscarriage like me?

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 13/10/2017 12:22

@Fillybee Nah, I had mine in July so it's the 2nd cycle after AF (last month was a terrible, terrible cycle too).

dudemeister76 · 13/10/2017 12:34

Congrats to the BFP's!! Always good to hear there is hope for us!
12 DPO and I think I'm out as my temps dipped a little bit more this morning. Thats two days in a row now so i won't hold out any hope!! ill test tomorrow just incase.
I use a moon cup as well and have noticed my period is now only 2-3 days. I looked this up and apparently its a side effect of using a moon cup grumpy.
I might try aspirin next cycle? it doesn't affect ovulation does it?
Happy Friday vibes all round xx

TheGrumpySquirrel · 13/10/2017 12:38

@dudemeister76 thank you - I did read that but wondered if it was a real thing! Great to here someone else has had a similar experience 👍🏼 sorry to hear about the temp dip. Good luck for testing tomorrow! I’ll be joining you unless af shows up in the meantime.

I’m wondering if I’ve been missing ovulation by only DTD up to and including the LH Peak. Next cycle will try to keep going a few days longer.

Apparently low dose aspirin helps the embryo to implant - www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/science-news/11943048/Aspirin-a-day-could-boost-chance-of-having-a-baby.html

Fillybee · 13/10/2017 13:27

Great article- sounds like a wonder drug!

weasledee · 13/10/2017 14:18

Hi purple, I’m nervous! Grin
I’m
Not suffering from HG which I have I. Previous pregnancies, I’m normally
Signed off by now and I have literally no sickness. This is stressing me out a bit but got a 3+ on a digital this morning so who knows?! Early nhs scan booked the following week.....

BlueeSpottyTiger · 13/10/2017 14:33

Yay!!!! unicorn & filly amazing so so pleased for you both. Wooo xx

BlueeSpottyTiger · 13/10/2017 15:03

Weasle i was back at work today since first being signed off at 6 weeks (and mc obz) i always get it around the 5.5 -6 week mark. Yay to the 3+ that's great news.

My af is awful.. so much heavier than normal.. by now (day 3) its nearly stopped.
Hopefully it will stop soon, I'm bleeding more now then i did after giving birth! Fertile week is 5/6 days away woohoo :)

BlueeSpottyTiger · 13/10/2017 15:11

That aspirin thing is interesting!
I'm still breastfeeding and it says to avoid feeding for 1-2hours after but i only feed dd at bedtime/nightime anyway so i could take one in the mornings so it passes through my system! And it can reduce preeclampsia which i had with my dd's pregnancy so i may give it a go... is it called baby aspirin?

Fillybee · 13/10/2017 16:03

Yeh it's 75mg aspirin, when I asked at the pharmacy they said 'baby aspirin' I thought maybe it was called that because it was to help you have a baby but from that article I think it's because its dose for babies to take, haha whoops!!

Fillybee · 13/10/2017 16:04

@bluee hope your first day back was ok!

Flatwhite31 · 13/10/2017 16:26

Hi ladies, going to have to read and run as we are doing our school sleepover with 62 (yes, 62!) kids tonight. Arrrgh! Congrats again on the BFPs!

Lovemysparkle · 13/10/2017 16:26

Afternoon ladies well af has arrived on day 24 I'm usually 26-28 day cycle, this is my 3rd af since my last mc in July. My body gets back into whack quickly after a mc after my mmc it was 5.5 weeks when I got my 1st af from when we found out our sparkle had died. Although my af's have been regular I have had a few wonky ones! 21 day cycle, bad clotting, very heavy bleeding etc... I sometimes have to take transexamic acid as I one of the shit outta luck people who suffer with heavy af's!! So all of us on af lots of comfort food & chilling with a good film & a duvet!!

Filly, magpie & to all others what the rmc should be checking for is
A) swabs to rule out any form of yeast infection & bacterial vaginosis, they also check for sti's but this is just standard.

B) A scan whilst you are not pregnant this is to check for scar tissue, fibres, fibroids, endometrial lining, ovaries & of course my big bare POLYPS!!! When I had my scan my sonographer informed me that I ovulated approx 5-6 days previous from my right ovary so it's also a good indication so you can approximately gage when you ovulate 👍🏼

C) full bloods instructed from the rmc my consultant printed all of the labels for me so all I had to do was go between day 2-5 of af the reason for this as when your having af all if your hormones/clotting/ etc are at there peak so should show any problems.

I have found that once your under the rmc you no longer have to fanny about with referrals from the doctor all appointments are made/instructed by the rmc.
I have also made a list of questions/concerns/dates of mc's & af's all ready for them to see it saves a lot of confusion & really helps them in trying to build your case. As you all know we decided to use protection so I could have all of these tests although they said it was a personal choice if we wanted to carry on ttc, my odds have gone from 1 in 4 being successful to 50/50 🙈 although the professor is extremely positive that we will have our bubba. I hope this is helpful & I am under St. George's hospital in tooting south London. Please please feel free to ask anything at anytime girls if I can help I will with the biggest heart possible ❤️

MissMagpie · 13/10/2017 16:53

Thanks sparkle. That is really helpful. I may come back to you when I have my rmc appointment. I feel like I want to go armed with info to get the best service I can.

I am CD14 today in what is my first proper cycle post MC and I have had a bit of old blood type discharge and pinky CM. Never had this before. Wondering how screwed up I am inside. Anyone else had this? Any reassurance gratefully received. Failing that advice. I always need advice!

Flatwhite31 · 13/10/2017 17:08

@MissMagpie I had a bit of blood today at on CD 25. Not enough to need a pad though. I'm wondering if AF is maybe on her way early.
I've had weird bleeding since my MMC though. My first period after my MMC was two really really heavy days, then a 4/5 day break, then light bleeding for another 2 days.
