Rah - I worked for a company dealing with people with dyslexia. But the house we were in we were only renting!!! Worth every penny of the rent.

Citydevil - big congrats on getting the job you wanted. That is great. I guess if you lived on the Radford road you would have known where Radford Semele was ! There was a great pub there selling great food.

Oh now thinking of Leamington Spa has got me thinking of the absolutely best curry place ever! It was a frequent haunt of ours when we lived in the area. Mmmm, I can still imagine the taste of the chicken korma like no other.... OK now I am hungry, must go and get something to eat....

RahRah1 · 12/04/2007 17:42

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Wicked news about your new job!!! YIPEEEEEEEE

I think the difference will be if they do anything above statutory. My work only offered 90% for 6 weeks and the statutory maternity pay for the rest of the 12 months. However they offered a returns bonus for 2 years on your return, each month. So in my company you would of missed out on the returners bonus.

I used to work for EMI and their maternity package was excellent. They paid £50 a week towards child care (in those days it was 50% of the total cost...if I had been a bit older and wanted children I would of stayed there just for the maternity package).

I know where Radford Semele and Radford road is, one of my school friends lived on the Radford road. I think her parents still live there. God it is such a small world!

citydevilbunny · 12/04/2007 17:46

Dh wants us to wait a month so I would qualify for SMP aaaaaaargh. The role has a big go live Jan/ Feb 08 which would be due time from now. I know what makes practical sense but emotionally it would be hard to take a break!

and we have the fertility appointment next week!

citydevilbunny · 12/04/2007 17:51

I think I would get 18 weeks full pay, and 21 weeks maternity leave

RahRah1 · 12/04/2007 17:51

I waited and waited for the right time and then when I started to try it took us 18 months. Then the pregnancy went wrong at 24 weeks and its been another 5 months since we lost our baby! So my biggest lesson is nothing should make you wait. If I was you I would take some of the pressure off, like temping.. but see if fate runs its course in that time. Just my take on things because of whats happened I suppose...

RahRah1 · 12/04/2007 17:52

Jesus 18 weeks full pay... thats fantastic!

citydevilbunny · 12/04/2007 17:52

what I find particularly scary is talking about something that could never happen

citydevilbunny · 12/04/2007 17:53

Yes I think so just need to make sure we read is properly and how much service I need to have given!

RahRah1 · 12/04/2007 17:53

The only peoples I know that get full pay for a long period are NHS... my friend got 6 months full pay and 6 months 1/2 pay... but don't quote me on that as it came third party!

citydevilbunny · 12/04/2007 17:53

I hope I don't sound like I'm complaining. I just find it hard to get my head round all these ifs buts and maybes and still trying to enjoy the hear and now.

RahRah1 · 12/04/2007 17:57

I know it is tough... I often think that. But like my fertility consultant said there is no reasons why not?? We were just unlucky having a period of infertility and unlucky that our pregnancy ended at 24 weeks. So although we have been incredible unlucky...there are no reasons why given time we will not have a baby. If I don't fall pregnant again then we are willing to try adoption. I know one day I will have a child of my own.... and I think you should have faith as well..

RahRah1 · 12/04/2007 18:01

I totally understand... I thought (stupidly) that as soon as I deemed myself ready that was when I would become pregnant... How naive! We have now been on this path for nearly 30 months and have to live with never seeing one of our children again after seeing him living and breathing... That will stay with us for the rest of our lives.. But it has to work out in the end... Life just does not seem easy. On a less serious note: I alway had a plan that if life got so bad I would go and live in Thailand and smoke hard drugs..LOL

RahRah1 · 12/04/2007 18:01

Oh... my friend is here for dinner... Catch you later XX

citydevilbunny · 12/04/2007 18:23

I like your plan I'll swap it with wine and reggae dancing in St lucia! I really hope things work out for you enjoy dinner

Right - going to try and drag myself up by the bootstraps today - was very maudlin yesterday and got all self-pitying ugly, and jealous in the hut last night drowing my sorrows in virtual cocktails I think I was trying to live out rah and city's Plan B's but in the virtual world and with no reggae and only soft drugs

I have never been this tempted to do an early test - I don't know why - AF will be here by Monday so know it is pointless - think it is cos FF is giving me a countdown to testing - it says I can test on Monday - I know there is no point but for some reason I think it knows something that I don't

I have no symptoms of anything this month - just like the month before last - no sore (.)(.) which I nearly always get at least a week before AF - this must be to do with the alternate ovary theory - I dont get it? If it hadnt happened before I would be all excited but I know its just another weird quirk of my repro system

Hoping to get DH's semen test results today - tried calling yesterday and the receptionist kept asking DH "what test?" luckily DH is not embarrassed Then she said its negative ??? oh no I mean normal - DH was like what do you mean neg or normal - one sounds OK the other is worrying!!. Anyway we are none the wiser and waiting for the doc to call us hopefully!

Hope everyone esle is doing OK today

Congrats on new job Cityangel Ahh - being employed and having maternity benefits - those were the days!! quick - stop me before I start wallowing in self-pity about being self-employed

Can't believe I have a sensible temp this morning - I woke up roasting as DH had discarded his side of the duvet over me and both him and the cat were snuggled up as close as they could get - very cute, but I was nearly suffocating.

Glad to hear everyone is developing a backup plan if this TTC nonsense fails - I think I'll move way up north and breed Shetland ponies.

Been trying all week to get the doctor to phone me about test results - the receptionist told me over the phone that mine were normal, excellent, but she seemed surprised when I expected more information. DH was told he had to speak to the doctor - that doesn't bode well. I never really considered that any part of the problem could lie with him - I'm the one well past my fertile peak.

So just in case went to Asda to get him back on the multi-vitamins. And discovered they now do own brand pregnacy vits, exactly the same ingredients as Pregnacare - in their 2 for $4 range (need to find the pound sign on this keyboard).

Feeling very good today - sun is shining and I have a long weekend ahead of me. Hope everyone else is having a good day too.

Ready · 13/04/2007 11:18

I just realised that it is Friday the 13th today!! So, that will explain why so far this morning I have spilled my breakfast cereal milk on the floor, whilst carrying the bowl to the table, then knocked a full cup of tea across the breakfast table and all over the paper, and the conservatory floor ? and now I am wondering what I will do next

Cityangel - Congratulations on the job, flower!! Well done you. I am inclined to agree with Rah though, personally I wouldn?t put off trying just for maternity pay etc, if your BFP decides to come along next month ? then you will not care about maternity pay. You will make it work. I can understand the rationale behind it ? but I couldn?t stop trying no matter what. Ultimately you need to make the right decision for you, but if it doesn?t feel right to stop, don?t stop.

Seaside - I think my last post on here got lost in amongst everyone elses ? I asked something about smoothies, and milkshakes ? apologies for treating you like the resident expert
Where did you get your tarot reading done? And how close was it to you? Was the reader any good? I have always had a secret (as in don?t tell DH because he already thinks I am mad ) interest in tarot cards, my mum and her friends used to be really into it when I was younger, and they were into researching past lives as well ? it was really cool listening to them work things out. Good to see you are being brave and posting outside of conception
How are you feeling today? I saw you only posted once yesterday, very unlike you. Has the doctor called you about your DH?s results?? If they weren?t entirely happy with his analysis or something needed explaining, then the receptionist wouldn?t have been able to say anything at all would she? There would just be a note for your DH to make an appointment? Fingers crossed.

Rah, Mum03 and City - how cool that you are so locationally connected

Rattling - Excellent news that your results showed no problems with you!! Yay! And don?t worry too much about your DH having to speak to the doc, I would imagine semen analysis has many facets, so it could just be that a medical professional has to explain certain things, as opposed to a receptionist. I know what you mean though, when CD1 rolls round, I have anxious feelings that there might be something wrong with me, but never about DH. Fingers crossed for you both.
Enjoy your long weekend!!

MrsMc - How did it go feeding the 5 thousand? Hope you are feeling much, much better today.

Rah - I had to giggle at you dashing off this morning because your Dad was looking over your shoulder!! How are you feeling today? Any symptoms you want to share with us

Iwillbe - You?ve been ever so quiet, is everything ok chick?

seaside72 · 13/04/2007 12:29

LOL about Friday 13th - I quite like them - have done lots of good things on them and DH was born on one- now I feel even more like testing!!!

Ready sorry I missed your smoothie question yesterday. I a sure fresh fruit is just as beneficial- I think maybe smoothies just allow you to get more packed into one drink IYKWIM. I think I posted a link in the old TTC first baby thread that had recipes on it. That's funny about your DH and bananas?? What about in pancakes or banana bread - does he like them then?? Thanks for thinking of me yesterday - it was a bit of a rough one - I am just so emotional - I never used to be such a crier!! Another sign AF is coming! I had a gushing rant in the hut and feel a bit better today
Re the tarot cards - the reading was sort of hit and miss - if you want I will post it - it was a fellow MNer who was trying a new way of reading - you just pick three numbers from 0-22 and she chooses the cards - she did for free the other day to experiment and it went well no now she has placed an ad on MN - here It only a fiver? I am sure you are not surprised - I am a sucker for all that stuff - have had my palm read, been to 2 pyschics and numerous tarot readings - I just take it all with a pinch of salt - if it is positive it giives you a boost and it is always interesting. (MY mum even had my chart (astrological) done when I was born!! - lots of it has been quite acurate )

CityAngel - My DH is a huge chelsea fan - I like them to but can't watch with DH as it is like Jekyll and Hyde - he morphs into angry shoutey man and scares the dogs!! We got married in May 05 and I think he was more happy about Chelsea winning the league!!!

Rattling glad your temp was OK - it is funny isnt it - some mornings I am sure my temp will be down cos I don't feel hot and it is fine and other times I feel boiling and am sure it will be high and it is just the same as the day before when I did not feel that hot?? Good news about your test results - was that a CD21 test for ov? (sorry if you said already) Seems like we are in the same boat waiting for DH's results?? It's frustrating - I know my DH will not ask enough questions if he does speak to the doc- I wish they could just post or email a copy of the test results?

Rah How are you doing? LOL about your Dad! Catch up later.

Hope everyone else is OK

Morning all!

Congratulations on the new job City Remember, I started a new job on 11/12 and got my BFP on 26/1 (AF was 29/12) ? I would have only just been entitled to the 6 weeks at 90% and here, that?s the best you can get!

Great news Rattling

Hello Ready

Hello Seaside my DH has a birthday on 13th as does his Sis, my parents got married on 13th ? seems quite lucky in my family too! Fingers crossed, as I said on the other thread, I DO like your chart this cycle!

RahRah1 · 13/04/2007 15:50

Howdy peeps... I am now free of my dad.. I was typing away and caught him eying up my computer and started reading stuff from it! Not nice when you dad is reading stuff like insemination and Sperm etc..... slightly embarrassed!

Hope everyone is well...

No more symptoms from me.. constipation has gone (forgot to mention I suffer from IBS) and had the 'other' problem today So sadly no great nauseous feelings etc.. I keep seeing threads that are like 7 days to go until AF and really sick... then they test and they are pregnant...how does that happen?? I though you did not ovulate until day 8-10? Could you possibly ovulate earlier? Some people say they know from the moment they had sex that they got pregnant... how does that happen?

MrsMcJnr · 13/04/2007 16:00

Rah ? I suffer from IBS sometimes and it was really bad in the first couple of days of my pg. I guess if you have a 16 day LP you might get symptoms quite a long time before your AF is due? I think you can ovulate as early as cd8 but not much before that.

RahRah1 · 13/04/2007 16:04

Pants... sorry did not mean ovulate I meant implantation.
