tiramisu are you first to test next?

A colleague at work came out to lunch with me yesterday and I thought best not to get tests whilst she's with me! Don't want office rumours just yet! So it's prevented me testing at least! Although I found an internet cheapy in the draw so I'm sure that may accidentally jump out said draw tomorrow morning Hmm trying to save the early responses to the weekend! It's so hard!!

MynameisJune · 02/08/2017 12:57

GP finally called me back, she has requested an ultra sound on my pelvis and blood works for me, then a sample for DH as well. After that if they are all normal then they can refer us to the fertility clinic for further investigations.

At least we have a plan now which is a weight off.

Currently CD18 and getting back ache so think Af will be here again soon in another short cycle.

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 02/08/2017 13:51

Testing tomorrow karpuzkiz - no idea what the result will be. No obvious AF symptoms, but no obvious pregnancy ones either

Impatientmummy36 · 02/08/2017 17:28

Nubian sorry :( it's great you're sounding so positive already, have a great weekend and enjoy a drink guilt free, it really is the only upside when this happens each month Xx

I'm on day 25. Af due early next week. Already starting to feel that slight dragging achy feeling low down. So I'm feeling sure it hasn't worked this month again.

Going to see Dr on fri to discuss test results but on phone I was told it said "normal no action." So not sure what else he can do if that's the case!

Surely one of us should be up the duff this month, it's one hell of a combined effort!

Thanks Impatient. Hope everything will go alright at doctors. But sounds like all is normal. This might be your month! Bfp coming your way. Which day are you thinking of testing? Lots of baby dust xx

Nubian9454 · 02/08/2017 19:17

Those testing please keep us posted. Fingers crossed for that bfp!

Ladies just a question...at what stage should I make an appointment with GP? Next Cycle will be #5

KashyKash · 02/08/2017 19:44

So sorry that af arrived Nubian. Have a great weekend and keep those positive thoughts....it WILL happen. I think over the age of 35 advice is to seek help after 6 months. I'm well overdue going but keep thinking "just one more month, then we'll go!"
Impatient, glad it sounds like all is fine from the doctor. First time round we went for initial tests after nearly a year of trying and got the all clear...got my bfp shortly afterwards. Hopefully the same happens to you.
Good luck to everyone else testing this week.
xx

Nubian9454 · 02/08/2017 19:59

Thanks Kashy. Will try for at least 3 more months and if nothing than will go GP. When I fell pregnant at 32 it happened the second cycle of trying! So this is very frustrating g

MynameisJune · 02/08/2017 20:14

Nubian guidelines are over 6 months for 35+ and over 2 years for under. They will do basic tests after a year if under 35 but fertility clinic referral is 2 yrs and will also require a sample from your OH.

The GP I saw took into account that I've been off contraception for 9 years and have only ever had one pregnancy into account even though we haven't been trying this time round for a full year.

Nubian9454 · 02/08/2017 20:50

Thanks June. Just all sounds a bit stressful...doctors and tests.

KashyKash · 02/08/2017 21:10

Am I right in thinking that you can't get fertility treatment on the NHS if you already have one child?

MynameisJune · 02/08/2017 21:50

Kashy no you can't get IVF but you can get all the tests to find out if anything is wrong, which should save a fortune at a private fertility clinic.

Nubian the tests for me aren't stressful, I'm happier knowing that things are in motion to find out if we have any issues. But I'm a planner and I can't wait and see so I need to be doing something about it.

Impatientmummy36 · 02/08/2017 21:55

Thanks Nubian & Kashy, I'll see what he says on fri but possibly just a case of give it time... x

Nubian I'll prob probably test at weekend, Saturday because we're out for a meal and if negative we can order a bottle! x

Thanks Kashy - I remember you saying that last month, so hoping its an omen! Not sure about fertility treatment on NHS? Certainly my GP was happy to do initial tests, that was after cycle 5 (once he'd established we were actually having enough sex! Apparently some people are not, and asking for tests :) but sure if we needed actual treatment we'd have to pay?

A lady at swimming lessons said my little boy had told her "my mummy is trying very hard to make me a baby brother, she is trying sooo hard!". So he must have picked up on all of this!! I don't have any secrets Hmm

Nubian9454 · 02/08/2017 23:34

Aaah bless him Impatient. My 7 year old knows as well. He is keen for a sibling and reckons he will be a great big brother. He said to me mummy I will help you. I know he will be awesome with a sibling. Just really want to give him one soooo badly.

I thought one could get fertility treatment on NHS up to 42 years of age! But maybe thats for a 1st baby. Mmmm gotta look into this further but hoping it won't come to that xx

Nubian9454 · 02/08/2017 23:35

Good luck to everyone testing over the weekend. Will be praying for Bfps! Baby dust y'all xx

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 03/08/2017 06:11

And I'm out - AF turned up last night. Feeling quite sorry for myself, but next cycle will be easier for us in terms of trying as neither of us are away then. Onwards and upwards

MynameisJune · 03/08/2017 06:32

Sorry af turned up tiramisu 😔 Have a few days to be sad and then back on it again.

I'm fairly certain I'm out this month as DH was away over my most fertile time and even though he drove home 2hrs each way every other day I don't think it was enough.

Nubian the NHS will only fund IVF for first babies.

Karpuzkiz · 03/08/2017 06:33

june and impatient at least fingers crossed you should be on your way to getting some answers at the doctors. My best friend discovered she had secondary infertility and she got the first initial tests on the NHS when she was referred by the doctor but had to go private for the IVF.

impatient gutted AF arrived for you but at least if you're both together next month that at least helps and you can give it a good shot! Me and hubby won't be next month so a bit tricky there!

Still hanging it out to test on the weekend. My husband told me my boobs look fuller. They do feel it, but I don't know if that happens before AF arrives?! They're not hurting at least. Watch this space!

Happy Thursday all xx

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 03/08/2017 06:55

Thanks june - as I have a shortish cycle, I'm due to test again on 30th, so think I will keep posting on this thread. Everyone is so supportive and want to hear about others getting their BFPs!

ladydolly · 03/08/2017 07:27

Sorry tirimisu Sad

I'm also hanging around as it looks like another short cycle for me. Flashing smiley at cd6, here we go again!!

Nubian9454 · 03/08/2017 08:06

Sorry to hear the mean with made her appareance Tiramisu . I got really reay sad last night suddenly. Just the thought of not yet have a life growing inside me just overwhelmed me with sadness. So I know how you feeling hun. I too will have a chance this month to get that bfp as my period started so early I am due on again ot the 29th. So let's stay positive.

Thanks June. Yeah I thought so. So no support for fertility to conceive a 2nd child. I think me and DH have resigned ourselves that if it doesn't happen we will not bother with ivf. Might just get a cute puppyGrin. But for now I will remain hopeful it will happen. Baby dust y'all xx

Karpuzkiz · 03/08/2017 08:18

Glad you at least get to stick around here for a bit longer you guys - sending all the baby dust StarStar

cautiousoptimist1 · 03/08/2017 08:25

Sorry to hear that AF arrived tiramisu. Fingers crossed that more time with DH means that next cycle is your month.

I'm now firmly in the 2ww, too early for any symptoms either way and I drove myself mad last month googling symptoms at 5dpo etc! I'm not testing until I'm late. Last time I got a BFN at 2 days late!

cautiousoptimist1 · 03/08/2017 08:29

Nubian, there's no NHS support for a second child. I guess it makes sense really but seems particularly unfair in some cases (when one parent has a child already but the other can't conceive).
I'm like you and think that if it doesn't happen then we'll get a dog. I already know that I couldn't go through IVF. That's not meant to offend anyone who has, you're all amazing in my eyes but I don't think I could put myself through it.

LopeyLopez · 03/08/2017 08:44

Sorry Nubian and tiramisu for your bfps. On with the next month....your positivity is really inspiring though; I will try to be a bit more like that when it comes to my turn later this month (or hopefully not..!).

Re: when to go to doctors - I am going at the end of this month if I'm not pregnant by then, as that will have been 6 months of active trying, and I am 37.

impatient, when they ask you about having enough sex (!!), they don't mean you have to have been doing it every 2-3 days throughout the month, do they?!! Because I know some docs are not into timed intercourse. We've been doing 2-3 times in the fertile window each month because I know exactly when I ovulate so it seems excessive to bd all month long when that's all that's needed......we'd both be absolutely knackered and I think that expectation from the doctor is pretty high, with full time jobs and a toddler!! If I have to lie and say that's how much sex we're having.....maybe I should, for the sake of getting the tests, but I actually don't know if I could, convincingly! It's SO unrealistic!!

Nearly o day for me and getting all the signs but negative OPK for me this morning, so not quite there. I've actually been diagnosed with pneumonia this month, unbelievably (where the f did that come from?!?!?!?) so thought we were going to miss the fw due to me being too sick. But I am feeling a little better now so we might be in with a chance...

Best of luck to everyone still to test, and to those moving on to the next cycles... x
