Thread 30, TTC #1 | Hilda hopefuls are still riding the shag wagon

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has well and truly worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Love that's terrible! Definitely throw them out! Agree with jam it may have been a chemical Sad

Jam good for you on not putting yourself through that - hope your friends were understanding?

Hope you manage to get somewhere at your drs appt today basset!

LoveRainbow02 · 13/06/2017 07:37

Im not sure exactly when I ovulated Harriet but I was getting positive opks around cd16. Af was due last Monday and didn't turn up until the Friday.

Scandal they are well and truly in the bin lol.

bassetmum · 13/06/2017 08:56

I have managed to get an appointment at 10.10. Of course my thyroid isn't anywhere near as swollen today sods law!! I will ask for a test of all three. Hopefully it might kick start some other tests re not getting pregnant as I am on cycle 11. Harriet i think ive got more signs of overactive rather than under.

Well judging by the amount of ewcm I've had this morning it is fw again. Not going to be a good one as I'm away till friday and my other is busy all evenings till Saturday. Might be good to not have an intense fw.

harrietm87 · 13/06/2017 10:01

basset if you think you are overactive then your issue will be keeping your tsh up not down. So you need to be over 0.14 (I think - check the ref ranges online). Hopefully your GP can help!

bassetmum · 13/06/2017 10:51

Just got back dr thinks its overactive. Got to have a scan and bloods. Got to wait 4-5 weeks for a scan. Did ask for the 3 tests but i think I only have two. Blood form says

FT4E, TSHE:S - free t4, thyroid function test and free T4(=). Any ideas?

He's also testing for my rubella immunity even though I've had all my vaccinations and an extra one.

harrietm87 · 13/06/2017 12:51

That's great they took it seriously basset - good luck! They haven't checked your Free T3 there. Not sure whether that's cos they think you are overactive though/because they are doing a scan anyway.

The ref range for TSH is 0.4-4, so if overactive you will be under 0.4 (I was wrong with 0.14). Hopefully they will get you treatment and you will feel much better!

LoveRainbow02 · 13/06/2017 16:30

I'm in such a bad mood today. Phoned docs up for my blood results from Friday. I explained to my gp that since my miscarriage my periods have been irregular, I've been experiencing bad mood swings, tender boobs a lot and heavier bleeding. She suggested a hormone panel blood test.
Anyway I call today and the receptionist tells me my blood pregnancy test has came back inconclusive. I explained it was supposed to be a hormone test and not pregnancy so now have to go back in tomorrow for more blood work.

Sorry for the long rant but I just feel my gp hasn't listened to a word I have said and there is definitely a lack of communication somewhere! So fed up 😕

Pyjamas81 · 13/06/2017 18:58

How annoying love - as if this whole thing isn't frustrating enough already without having to deal with their incompetence as well!

Glad they're taking it seriously basset - hope you get answers soon.

Hope the cat enjoyed extra snuggles jam - great self-preservation right there, sometimes it's necessary.

I hate this limbo time in the TWW - logic tells me it won't be any different to the last 12 cycles of deafening nothingness, and yet there's always that sliver of hope that we'll be given a last minute surprise before IVF. I'm starting to get nervous now. DH's sister emailed me and DH today as his mum had told her about what our IVF plans are (we said it was fine) - turns out she was struggling with secondary infertility and was about to start treatment. She's going to send me the details of her acupuncturist as well (something I've been considering as it really helped me with another issue before). It's nice that we have so much support.

Binkybunny13 · 13/06/2017 21:35

Sorry late to the party but huge congratulations scandal! 🎉 woohoo!

FX Kerry! 🤞

Hope you have an awesome holiday kathrino 👍

Sorry about the IC messing you around rainbow 😞 it's hard enough without the sticks conspiring against us! And today with the gp, what a pain

Jam your post yesterday evening really touched me- being so honest and self aware. you are so right, it really is an awful thing to go through unsuccessful TTC 💐 And we must look after ourselves. Hope you're doing ok x

Glad the gp went ok basset and hope you get it sorted soon- and then there's a speedy BFP just waiting for the thyroid to be on track🤞

Pyjamas it must be tough 💐 sounds like you've got some great support around you though- hopefully your ivf journey will be short and there will be a lovely BFP x

As for me, I'm on cd32 now with feelings of af in the pelvic area, but no nipple/ breast/ PMS stuff going on, and loads of milky discharge. Just as I thought my cycles were settling I have a curved ball again, sigh 😔

MouseLove · 13/06/2017 23:26

Hola ladies. Dropping in again. I'm probably going to do a big massive read and get up to date with everyone so sorry if I've missed good and bad news.

Good news for me!!! My thyroid levels are normal and I got the green light from my specialist to TTC again. He's stressed the importance of keeping this under control so he wants to see me again in 2 months and hopefully with good news. He's being completely optimistic and so am I. Basset, please get your thyroid tested. I showed no signs of being over active, more under active if anything, but I am, and this can cause SERIOUS fertility and pregnancy issues. Xxx

Sooooo we had a lovely week in the menorcan sun last week, just so happened to be my fertile week too. We DTD a few times and I'm being completely relaxed about the whole thing. So only tracking CD and CM (LOTS from CD9-17). no idea how many DPO I am. My cycles have become regular since my MMC at 27 days. So I'm feeling positive and happy. 😊

Hope everyone is doing ok. X

Rabiya · 13/06/2017 23:38

Hello did any1 remember me from last thread

Kathrino · 14/06/2017 07:36

Welcome back Mouse! Glad to hear you've got the green light for TTC and sounds like a week in the sun was exactly the right way to start again! Wishing you lots of luck for the TWW.

Pyjamas, I'm glad DH's family are being supportive and, presuming you get along with SIL, must be nice to have someone IRL to share the journey with you. Totally understand your nerves though, will be sending you lots of good wishes for then next few weeks (but, of course, hoping you don't need them)

Basset, glad the doc was helpful and hope you get some answers soon!

Love, you've been having such a tough time of it recently Flowers

Kathrino · 14/06/2017 07:37

Sorry for missing you rabiya, how are you doing?

Rabiya · 14/06/2017 08:04

harrietm87 · 14/06/2017 08:47

mouse! Yay that's such great news. So nice to have you back. Jealous of your holiday!

How are you doing kath?

pyjamas that's really great you've got support from your SIL. We haven't told any of DHs family that we've been ttc or about the mcs as his parents are so desperate for a grandchild and would be so sad.

It's day 3 of flashing smileys for me and plenty of EWCM yesterday. DH was away on Monday but we HS last night and the aim is every day this week. We will see how that pans out!

Jamon · 14/06/2017 09:02

Glad you've got some answers basset , that's a bit of an annoying wait for a scan but things are in motion

Oh rainbow how frustrating Sad the least they can do is get the flipping right test done! Glad you can get straight back in to do it again

Pyjamas it's impossible not to have hope and at the end of the day there is always the slim chance it has worked. If not you are well and truly super charging this next cycle!

Binky fx these are lurking BFP signs and not a long cycle

Hurrah mouse! Glad to have you back

KerryLeanne84 · 14/06/2017 13:05

Hey ladies!

Rainbow - that is just horrid, especially after your miscarriage. Blargh. So sorry.

Mouse glad you're feeling so positive, that's lovely! Fingers crossed for a post holiday BFP!

FX Pjs - you never know!

As for me, I'm finding the progesterone bullets actually fine so far! Not getting much gross discharge (I'm putting them in the front haha!).

Jamon · 15/06/2017 13:30

Hi girls how is everyone doing?

I'm feeling paranoid that DH might have a varicocele. It's an enlarged vein in the scrotum which can affect fertility. He had a tiny lump in one of his balls years ago and got it checked but back then we were worried about cancer, not fertility. Also varicocele is linked to poor morphology. His others parameters are all normal.

I'm really fixating on this quite unhealthily Sad and am scared to bring it up with DH. He hates hospitals / doctors / IVF anything fertility treatment related, he just shuts down. He needs to man up though right, and get this ruled out?

Also I don't know who to go to - back to the GP or make an appointment with the consultant?

I cancelled the appointment the other day by the way. I felt I couldn't handle the double blow of IUI not working - heartache and £900.

Really what I want to do is a cycle of IVF at the clinic in Athens. But DH won't even discuss it. I'm feeling more and more angry towards him and his lack of engagement in this whole experience. I've made us an appointment with the fertility counsellor at the hospital as I'm really worried about how this is affecting us Sad

OP posts:
bassetmum · 15/06/2017 13:45

Jam i am not sure what I can say to help you feel better. Is DH shutting down because he's struggling with the infertility as much as you are? I know men deal with these things completely differently. Hugs!!

Well I'm having so much ewcm this week. Its bloody crazy!! Im not sure whether to bother ttc this month as the scan for my thyroid will more than likely involve a radioactive substance I think, so dont want a bfp (ha as if it would happen now) to cause a problem with getting the thyroid issues sorted.

Pyjamas81 · 15/06/2017 13:50

Sounds like you're having a really tough time jam 🙁 I think it's great that you've booked an appointment with the counsellor. I really think it will help you both. Is the lump still there? If it's still there - it's worth getting it checked out and I would just go straight to the consultant. Easier said than done I know if your DH won't even have a conversation about it. Maybe bring it up, gauge his reaction and then potentially discuss it at counselling? Don't blame you for cancelling the IUI either, it sounds like you've got a lot on your plate.

Good to see you mouse and so great you're feeling so positive!

11dpo here and nothing. SIL gave me a recommendation for an acupuncturist and it's £250 for an initial consultation 😱 She's not available until 3rd July anyway which I think is too late so I think I'll pass.

Flashinthepan · 15/06/2017 14:00

Pyjamas what approximate area are you looking in for acupuncture?

Jam sorry to hear you are having a rough time with your DH. Not sure how you can raise the issue if you think he will respond badly. Has he given his reasons for not wanting to try IVF (sorry if you've already said).

Basset there are always so many decisions to make re TTC aren't there? Could always just have a GOS for fun any time you like and not worry about it/see what happens. Might be nice to have a pressure free shag!

LoveRainbow02 · 15/06/2017 14:10

Sorry your going through this jam. Men really do deal with their emotions different to us. Hopefully with the counselling session for you both he might open up a bit more.

Jeez pyjamas that's quite steep for an initial consultation. I've been looking at acupuncture too and it's only £30 a session where I am.

Basset I would still have a gos and have fun without pressure like flash says.

Pyjamas81 · 15/06/2017 14:16

I work in central London and live is SW London - luckily there are others! She's considered one of the best and has written a lot of books which explains her pricing, but still. I may consider her for the next cycle, we'll see!

Flashinthepan · 15/06/2017 14:37

I really liked the chap I went to, Peter Warwick, in Carshalton.

Flashinthepan · 15/06/2017 14:38

His was £60 for 1 1/2 hours and then £45 for subsequent hours. He's fully accredited/registered with the BAcC.
