Thread 30, TTC #1 | Hilda hopefuls are still riding the shag wagon

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has well and truly worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Have you tried a FRER Love?

I really would if you can see something on an IC.

LoveRainbow02 · 12/06/2017 13:31

I was going to the other night flash but then af came. I'm going to get one this afternoon just to settle myself. I was thinking it was a bad batch of tests but now the hopeful side of me is kicking in, so not fun!

I've attached the pics from this morning.

Welp I had the IUI this morning. The fertility nurses were once again amazing and super nice. All went well so I'm just resting at home and debating with myself what kinds of exercise are acceptable this week.

I also pick up my thyroxine prescription tomorrow as my TSH was 2.7 - well within the NHS's normal levels, but my consultant agreed with me that if it was over 2.4, I should get a low dose. Or at least that it 'couldn't hurt'.

Scandalicity · 12/06/2017 13:40

Sorry ladies, been trying to catch up since Saturday evening but my app wasn't playing ball (this is mu 3rd iteration of this message)!

Hope all goes well today Kerry Grin

Jam really hope your DHs therapy session went well, the TWW is kind to you & the clomid side effects ease!

Also glad you are getting support IRL alexia, your mum does sound like she's trying!

Harriet fx for a good FW for you! Do you have to start taking meds post O?

Love I would definitely try a different brand if you can?

House stuff sounds good pyjamas! What do you think you'll do? Also agree with binky re Sod's law!!

Hi panda, hope your stay is short & sweet!

Basset really sorry to see you think you've got thyroid issues! A drs appt sounds a really good idea to get some tests & hopefully some answers, don't loose hope, although I can only imagine how tough it must feel!

AFM, I did POAS at the end of last week, and it was positive. Shocked is an understatement, however working back (did track O with OPKs, but didn't put any GOSs in my app!), we did HS on O-2, which explains it. I have called my EPU and have a location scan in just over 2 weeks, so currently petrified, constantly on knicker watch & convincing myself every twinge is another ectopic that's going to rupture & I'm going to die. Why does TTC turn normally rational people into complete maniacs?

2nd time lucky is a thing right?

KerryLeanne84 · 12/06/2017 14:08

Wow, congratulations Scandal that's great news! No reason to think (fingers crossed) you'll have another ectopic, but I completely understand the urge to wrap yourself up in cotton wool. What date is your scan?

LoveRainbow02 · 12/06/2017 14:16

Congratulations scandal! Wish you the best of luck 😊. Great news.

harrietm87 · 12/06/2017 15:10

Woohoo scandal (/still think of you as kaydee!) fantastic news!!!

Yep I start meds post O. Got a flashing smiley on clearblue this morning and annoyingly DH is away tonight, but he's back 2moro and we'll prob try every day for the rest of this week. Fx for me!

harrietm87 · 12/06/2017 15:11

Ps kerry so glad it went well. When will you be testing?

Flashinthepan · 12/06/2017 15:25

Scandal congrats! Having another ectopic is the thing that stresses me out the most about TTC so completely understand your fear. But right now you are pregnant, and there is at least a 90 per cent chance that it will be in the right place, which are incredible odds in your favour!

How long have you been trying since your ectopic?

Love I can still see something so I think getting a different brand will help confirm one way or another for you. FX.

Kathrino · 12/06/2017 15:52

I'm so far behind that I don't think I'm ever going to catch up so apologies to all and Flowers for all of you who are having a tough time.

Hurrah scandal, so excited for you and keeping everything crossed. I hope the next two weeks go really fast.

Glad all went well today Kerry. Here's to a relaxed (if that's possible?!) TWW.

Nothing to report here, think I'm about 8 DPO. Going on holiday tomorrow for the rest of the week and I can't tell you how excited I am about a few days off work. Imagine AF will arrive bang on time for work on Monday, joy!

HepKestrel · 12/06/2017 16:07

congrats scandal !!!!! LSFX for you.

Scandalicity · 12/06/2017 16:16

Thank you all- that's why I love this thread, every one is so supportive Smile

Kerry completely after, however my irrational brain has completely taken over & about 99% of the time I forget that!! Scan is 2 weeks tomorrow, one TWW down, one to go!

Sounds like you are all set Harriet, massive GL!!

TBH flash we weren't actually trying (I know you're technically trying if you're not preventing, etc, but not trying as in the not GOSing around FW sense), cycle 1 post ectopic we used contraception as advised by the hospital, but cycle 2 came around at the same time the 6 weeks they advised was up, so we just didn't use anything that cycle, and we only actually HS about 3 times the whole cycle, one of those times just happened to be O-2 as I've now worked out. I'm also fairly sure I ovulated from my tubeless side, hence the shock.

Kath your holiday sounds lovely - enjoy your nice relaxing end to the TWW!

Love I'm dying for you to POAS of a different brand - there's definitely something visible on your ICs!! Grin

Scandalicity · 12/06/2017 16:17

*kerry completely agree that was supposed to say!!!

KerryLeanne84 · 12/06/2017 16:31

Thanks guys!

Good luck Scandal as Flash says - a 90% chance! Focus on trying to stay calm if you can.

I will try not to test unless it gets to two weeks today Harriet but we all know that what you think you'll do and then what you actually do can be a bit different! 😂

LoveRainbow02 · 12/06/2017 16:52

Just tested with a frer and it's a negative. I've binned the rest of the ic and I can now step away from the sticks 😂!

Pyjamas81 · 12/06/2017 18:56

Omg scandal congrats!! I understand why you're apprehensive, but I'm excited for you!!

Glad it went well Kerry - fx for you and hope these two weeks go by quickly.

Hope you have a great holiday kath! What a great distraction 👍🏼

Nothing to report here - I'm on 8dpo with the usual zero symptoms. On the house front - DH has told them we're interested and the same estate agent is coming to value ours this Saturday. Doubt it will all actually happen, but you never know! One week until it's business time... Googling IVF stuff like a madwoman!!

Jamon · 12/06/2017 19:52

Basset sorry you've been worrying, I hope your gp can reassure you and gets you the relevant tests to get to the bottom of this

Thanks binky xx hope af stays away

Well done Kerry and fx

Congratulations scandal! Fx for a smooth pregnancy 😀 it's good to add someone to the grads list again!

Hello kath glad you're still with us, I hope you have a lovely holiday and fx no af

Rainbow sorry you've got all this poas confusion it must be seriously messing with your head. I wonder if you might have had a chemical?

Jamon · 12/06/2017 19:57

Eek pyjamas that's so exciting, I bet you are reading up

I'm feeling a bit calmer today, it's been good getting back into work. My publisher dropped into a meeting that we will be launching a new product in a few weeks so I'm going to be busy as we're partway through a bureau transfer which is massive and affects everything we do. Good old work distraction 👍🏼

I decided not to go to dinner tonight with my best friend and our old school friends. They will be so excited for her news and I don't feel it's fair to her or me to sit there and listen to them - rightly - be very excited and happy for her and want to talk all things baby. She deserves to celebrate and I deserve to not have to sit and bear it. So I've come home for a snuggle with the cat.

Also had an interesting fb chat with a friend who conceived through IVF after two years of unexplained infertility. She pretty much wrote word for word how I was feeling - it made me feel less alone and less mental for getting so mental.

Don't forget how tough this all is. I know we normalise it because we have to, but we have to be so kind to ourselves too. This really is an awful thing to go through.

LoveRainbow02 · 12/06/2017 19:57

I'm not sure what to think jam. I had a chemical last month confirmed by a blood test as last month I'd also had a faint line on a test and blood confirmed hcg was present but extremely low then I got my af.
I honestly think it's maybe just a bad batch of tests (if there is such a thing) as every test I have used has had a faint line but the frer I done tonight was a definite negative.
My head is pickled lol!

Jamon · 12/06/2017 20:05

Throw them out my dear!

OP posts:
bassetmum · 12/06/2017 20:06

Congratulations scandal!!

No I haven't had any thyroid tests recently. I had bloods last summer to check my sorta high bp so wondering if they'd have had levels then to compare with. I was doing so research on google (i know i shouldn't) but i think I have a few symptoms - I'm permanently exhausted, my hands shake, I am constantly warm, my skin, nails and hair is brittle and then obviously the swollen thyroid. I am making an appointment tomorrow. Hopefully it will be in the morning as I am travelling to Scotland for work tomorrow afternoon.

Pjs how exciting about the house fx for you.

LoveRainbow02 · 12/06/2017 20:08

They are already in the bin and I won't be buying them again! As if testing isn't bad enough without getting dud ones lol!

KerryLeanne84 · 12/06/2017 20:41

Basset - Definitely get your TSH done then, and ask them what it is when you get the results, they sometimes just say 'normal'. Although I'm sure with a swollen thyroid you'll be above 5. Good luck!

KerryLeanne84 · 12/06/2017 20:43

Jam - that sounds like a great self-care choice. It really is - apparently the stress levels are equivalent to having cancer.

harrietm87 · 12/06/2017 22:19

That sounds so frustrating rainbow. What dpo are you again?

Really exciting about the house pjs!

basset I've had Hashimoto's thyroiditis (an autoimmune disease causing underactive thyroid) since I was 16 so have allllll the info. You should definitely get tested to put your mind at rest. Ask for a full T3 profile as TSH on its own doesn't give the full picture and isn't enough to diagnose. I.e. You can have TSH of over 2.5 but that's not a problem for TTC/fertility unless your T4 is also out of whack. Your symptoms could be due to thyroid, though feeling cold is the norm for underactive, not warm. Definitely go to your GP and get the full test done and ask for the actual numbers of all 3 things (TSH, T3 and T4) when you get the results back.
