Thread 30, TTC #1 | Hilda hopefuls are still riding the shag wagon

Jamon · 06/06/2017 08:39

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has well and truly worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

www.londondoctorsclinic.co.uk/services/after-travel-health-check/zika-virus-testing/

I found this Harriet. Seems that 21 days after your DH returns he can have a blood test to screen for antibodies. It looks like it costs about £250 for the test and the appointment.

Flashinthepan · 19/06/2017 10:12

I'm with you. I'd want to know so I could get back on it as soon as possible.

Flashinthepan · 19/06/2017 10:13

Also sorry you're feeling so low about this month. Brew

Rabiya · 19/06/2017 10:37

flashinthepan..did u read my post???

Flashinthepan · 19/06/2017 10:54

Rabiya are you experiencing any pregnancy symptoms other than a missed period? If you are concerned that the test is false, I would recommend going to your GP and asking for a blood test to confirm pregnancy/ask for a telephone appointment to discuss your specific situation. You could also contact your local EPU and ask for an early scan as you're unsure of dates.

harrietm87 · 19/06/2017 10:56

Thanks flash yes will probably go with that, even though the official recommendations say the testing won't confirm whether it is in semen or not. It's so weird as I thought men made new semen every day?! Anyway, will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun.

Congrats on your bfp rabiya. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

MouseLove · 19/06/2017 10:57

Ribya and basset, if you need any advice re thyroid please pm me. Been there, got the tshirt, hat, frisby & souvenir mug. Give your body time to respond to the medication but with just a few months your body should have normal levels. It's really important to have those levels normal for a healthy pregnancy. Xxx

Harriet Weirdly I'm not leaving anything on a liner and almost nothing when I wipe. And I never really spot. Baffled. But not really looking into it too much. I've had niggles and a windy pain all yesterday so it's probably most likely AF.

Scandalicity · 19/06/2017 11:24

That sounds like such a slick process pyjamas, all that in a month?! Fx for you!!

Pyjamas81 · 19/06/2017 11:30

I'm on short protocol due to my age and low AMH scandal, which I'm actually quite thankful for as it means I don't have to go back on pill! They called me back and I'm all booked in for midday tomorrow - eeeeeeeeeeep! Time to buckle up!! I've asked to work from home tomorrow so I can go straight home and get the meds in the fridge.

Really hope you feel better soon Harriet - sounds miserable 🙁
I've still got my fx for you mouse!

To add insult to injury - I had to buy a new mooncup today as mine mysteriously disappeared. Bah!

otters2017 · 19/06/2017 12:09

Sorry AF got you pjs but good luck with the ivf! Sounds like you have a plan, hope the injections will be ok. How often do you get scanned ?

flora glad your DH pushed for an appointment today. Can't believe they were going to make him wait another week! Hope your blood test is ok too. When do you get the results ?

basset hope you can an endocrinologist asap and get back to TTC. Good luck!

mouse sorry about the spotting. Has it developed further ?

jamon how are you feeling? Vent away on here, it's all relevant!

flash that looks like a positive opk. Keep dtd for the next few days and you should be covered 🤞

rabiya congrats on your BFP. Hope it goes smoothly for you

Well I had my trigger shot last night. Hoping for an egg early tomorrow morning. Planning GOS today, tomorrow and the next day to make sure we're covered. Otherwise will be joining pjs at the lister for ivf!

Pyjamas81 · 19/06/2017 12:22

It really depends on how I react to the drugs otters - they said I'd probably have to go in 6-7 times, but could be more, could be less. I'm actually feeling quite positive about it all now - if nothing else, at least it's a break from the same damn merry go round we've been on for what feels like forever. I've got my fingers crossed for you! Get GOSing!!

Jamon · 19/06/2017 12:37

flora I do use Headspace - am another devotee - but I have finished the foundation packs now and moved onto the Stress pack - and don't find it as good. I might repeat foundation. Well done your DH pushing for a sooner appointment. FX for all of your results.

flash we fell out over TTC :( I just don't get any emotional support from him. He's burying his head in the sand and pretending its not happening. I get so wound up and frustrated, when I need to accept that he just reacts so differently to this whole thing. He can't express himself at all on it. What we really really need is to speak to a professional together. This is all gone beyond our means and we don't know what to do for each other.

pyjamas that sounds intense. How are you going to manage it with work? Are you telling your manager? I'm a bit worried how I will handle this.

OP posts:
Pyjamas81 · 19/06/2017 12:48

I'm being pretty vague with my manager jam - I said I had to go and pick up medication at lunchtime tomorrow then head home to put it in fridge but I can work from home. So not a lie, I just haven't said what the medication is for. The clinic is also close to where I work so I can pop out and back in again if needed for scans. For egg collection to transfer days, I think I'll take egg collection day off as annual leave then work from home for the few days between that and egg transfer. I think I might tell him as I don't like feeling deceitful, but then it's such a personal thing and I also don't want it to impact how they view me (I know it shouldn't, but it might). It's definitely something I'm mulling over a lot.

florafoxtrot · 19/06/2017 13:32

The results are in and unfortunately it is low morphology - not horrendous as its at 2% (should be 4%) and his count and motility were really good - but they've referred us anyway and hopefully we'll have an appointment in 7-9 weeks time.
I had bloods taken for progesterone, testosterone, thyroid and liver and kidney function so fairly thorough!
As you'd expect DH is pretty gutted whereas I'm feeling positive that we've now identified what is going on and its not awful, my worst nightmare was that we'd get there and they'd say he had no sperm at all. The GP said she was not an expert but thought we'd be really good candidates for treatment and I am wondering about whether we should try IUI - yes I'm totally getting ahead of myself. Blush

Sorry to hear about the disagreements with your DH Jam - what part is he burying his head in the sand about? There is no easy way of just letting go and not thinking about it but could you try some quality time with no TTC chat and try to reconnect? And I don't mean that to sound patronizing, its such a tough one. Keep venting here as much as you want.

Yeah the hospital appointments will be tricky PJs so keep us informed. I'm so impressed by how quickly things are moving for you.

Rabiya · 19/06/2017 14:07

Flashinthepan-when i got bfp at hpt the next day i went to hospi for urine tst to confirm and it was positive there they said they will do blood test. And scan after 2 weeks...1 week over...got an appt after 1 week for blood test and scan..i will know soon ....other than a missed period my boobz hurt
Mouse love yes right itz important to get your levels drop but as soon as i started eating thyroid medicine within 4 days i got bfp...after 1 week i have blood test i hope my levels be ok or they have to increase my dosage..
harrietm87 and otters2017 thnkx..:)

Jamon · 19/06/2017 14:13

I hope you are both alright flora, it is hard news to take. I think low morphology seems to be fairly common - and its a very grey area whether it prevents conception or not. We've had so many differing opinions on it. I hope they are re-resting him in three months, as their results vary naturally too. I also recommend trying Proxeed Plus. My DH had 2% then just 1% morphology, went on Proxeed for four months and then got 4% on the next two tests. His count and motility were good before but also increased. Is the GP referring you on?

Sounds you are managing it all well and have a clear plan pyjamas. I have a feeling I'll come clean with my manager when it comes round to it, as it'll just be easier. But I agree with the worry that it'll change things at work. Another massively unfair thing about IVF - having to disclose that you are trying to start a family - rather than just announce a pregnancy :(

Flashinthepan · 19/06/2017 14:30

I just got baby bombed at work..colleagues wife is expecting number 2 the same time as mine would have been a year old. I cried. Not on front of anyone. Just put my sunglasses on and scuttled off to the garden for a big bawl. At least I won't have to see bump growing etc but I work on a really small company, 10 people, so o know it will be talked about a lot. I feel so pathetic now. Not even jealous just sad and desperate.

Flashinthepan · 19/06/2017 14:37

So sorry flora just read your post.

I hope that your tests come back fine and that you get all the medical help you need. It must be hard for your DH, any sense of blame/failure in TTC is always tough to take, but I'm sure you guys will be fine and get your bfp one way or another.

Is morphology something that can be significantly influenced by lifestyle/diet etc or just specific supplements like Jam's DH used?

KerryLeanne84 · 19/06/2017 14:42

Really glad you've got some clarity now Flora - at least it's not awful news. Plus, there are things you can do to improve morphology as Jam said.

Pjs - that's such a personal decision so don't feel like you have to disclose it at all. You could just say ongoing medical treatment but that's its not something you want to go into detail about.

Are you feeling nervous? I have butterflies for you thinking about it! And lol at the missing mooncup!

Otters did you administer it yourself? Hope it went okay! I've never had any side effects but I've heard of others who have.

Harriet - so so sorry you're having a rubbish time. That sounds horrible. Would you consider changing jobs?

I'm now seven days post IUI/ovulation and going in for a progesterone blood test later on. Still having nightly supplements which I'm still finding to be fine.

I'm at that phase now where I'm paying attention to EVERYTHING and it's just so ridiculous. Haven't had anything that isn't likely caused by the progesterone supps (cause tiredness, boob soreness, backache, nausea etc).

Here's one for a big ol' laugh - a relative of a friend get pregnant via a one night stand! She's 30 and he's 20, and doesn't want anything to do with the kid.

florafoxtrot · 19/06/2017 15:11

Aww yeah PJs - meant to say how does one lose a mooncup other than the obvious way?! Could you have left it at the spa?

Fx for you Kerry - would be lovely to hear a success story.

Thanks Flash - the jury seems to be out on whether supplements make a big difference - he had been taking Proxeed previously so will be sure to order some more of that and make sure he is taking it religiously as well as his other supplements. I do feel very sad for him as he's taking it hard but tried to highlight that when his count and motility were so good then there is still a chance for us. And so sorry to hear about the baby bomb - its really hard.

Pyjamas81 · 19/06/2017 15:30

You're right - I don't have to go into detail and I'd rather not if I can get away with it! I'll go with the medical treatment line and leave it at that.

That's a good point flora - I haven't seen my mooncup since the spa! They probably had no idea what it was 😂 Cringe... Hope you and your DH are doing ok after results.

I am finding it impossible to concentrate at work today!

Got everything crossed for you Kerry 😊

Kathrino · 19/06/2017 16:03

I will catch up properly but just wanted to say to flora (and your DH) that we have similar morphology and we were told that it wasn't the reason why we weren't conceiving and that we shouldn't worry too much about it. I think it's one of those things that can change for all sorts of reason and whilst it means that it might take a little longer than average, there's no reason to think that it's a long term problem. So many men have low morphology apparently but because it never causes any issues, it never gets picked up. Hope you're both doing okay and your follow up appt comes through quickly.

MouseLove · 19/06/2017 16:32

Sorry flash, sending hugs. I'm absolutely dreading my due date. It's fast approaching. Someone that got married the year after me just split with her husband and announced a pregnancy with her new boyfriend. She had an early scan at 7 weeks and announced on Facebook. I felt my stomach drop. She's less than I was when I had a mmc and today she's just put out a meme of "I love the hot weather, said no pregnant lady ever" and I had to hold back saying, be thankful you are. I know everyone follows their own path but I wished and wished for morning sickness and nothing ever came.

Update on my spotting. It's still there although I'm not leaving anything behind. Weird and pissing me off.

Flashinthepan · 19/06/2017 16:38

mouse it would be wonderful to approach pregnancy without fear and I don't want to piss on anyone's chips when they have happy news but a couple I know went for their 20 week scan and the baby had tragically died. They were deluged with messages on their Facebook profiles asking about the sex of the baby as they had said on there that they were going to find out the sex and had to put a Facebook post on saying what had happened. Not saying people shouldn't be able to share sad news if they want, but they kind of had to even though I'm sure they would rather not have to please of people they barely knew.

Flashinthepan · 19/06/2017 16:40

Oh spotting is the bane of my life so I feel your pain. I hope that your due date passes unremarkably. It wasn't as hard as I expected it to be, I've found other milestones/events tougher.
