Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Kerry I've added your date, thanks. We haven't got an awful lot planned as we're not there very long. My twin uncles live there so we are meeting up with them. In fact we are meeting there this evening - which will 1am on our body clocks. Not sure how am going to stay awake!

Jeds I've taken EPO but it didn't change ov date for me. Could just be natural fluctuation.

Oo good luck staying awake Jam, hope you and DH have a lovely time!

I took Evening Primrose mixed in with a B vit, and didn't OV at all that month, so switched to a B Complex with no EPO. However, it could have been caused by anything so I'm not sure if it's useful information for you or not Blush

So I ordered ICs, but 10 mlu ones. I'm going to be taking the progesterone until 13 dpo. If I do a test at 13 dpo on one of those, what are the chances we think it will be accurate?

Eva30 · 11/05/2017 11:45

Can anyone see anything or is it just my wishful thinking that is imagining a line there? Thank you

Flashinthepan · 11/05/2017 11:59

I can't tell if I can see something, or a shadow. Can you take a photo in brighter light?

Eva30 · 11/05/2017 12:02

Same here flash. I'm testing ridiculously early 9dpo - I dont know why I do it to myself!! I could only see something when I held it up to the light. I'm at work now but I'll re-test Sunday. Thank you

AlexiaB · 11/05/2017 12:03

Jam enjoy San Fran, very jealous! ☀️

Flash I think they should be fine but some batches can be much less sensitive than they claim.

Eva the photo isn't very clear so I'm not sure if what I'm seeing is real or a dye run / indent which Frers have become notorious for on FF lately. If you test again tomorrow, and it's real, you'll see progression. GL 🍀

Flashinthepan · 11/05/2017 12:05

We've all been there Eva. Brew

If you hold off til Sunday then at least you can hopefully get a clear answer one way or the other.

harrietm87 · 11/05/2017 12:42

Well I'm down the best part of £2.5k and 20 (yes 20!) vials of blood. Consultation just went through my history and discussed the tests I'm having. I get the results in 2 weeks.

Interestingly he told me to take the pregnacare pregnancy + omega 3 tablets (which I've actually already been taking), 75mg aspirin and extra vitamin D (50mcgs/2000 units, on top of the pregnacare) as his recommended preconception supplement cocktail.

Flashinthepan · 11/05/2017 12:48

That sounds very comprehensive Harriet. What tests are you having (sorry if you've already said!)?

20 vials of blood! Sounds like you need a good lie down with a cuppa and a biscuit Wink

InspectorPenguin · 11/05/2017 12:52

Ooh, that's very interesting Harriet, thank you for sharing. Hope you're not feeling too drained after all that blood being taken!

Jam I'm also very envious of San Fran, lucky you! Hope the sun is shining and you're not too tired to have lots of fun with DH and your family.

I can't see anything either Eva I'm afraid but best of luck holding out for a few days. Try not to drive yourself mad in the meantime!

WingingIt83 · 11/05/2017 13:23

Can't help eva but given that I've only ever seen snowy white results, I'd be quietly optimistic for anything other than stark white!

£2.5k harriet?? What's that include other than poking you with a needle ?

Pyjamas81 · 11/05/2017 13:39

Oooo Eva 🤞🏼 for you! I can't see it, but I'm rubbish at seeing lines! Hope all becomes clear with a BFP soon.

Hope you've recovered from being poked and prodded Harriet! And thanks for the supplement info - seems like a lot!

I'm giddy with happiness that FW is over, nothing is forced, no more HS for a while, can get a bit lazy with shaving my legs and I can just look forward to my spa break 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 DH and I also going on a 16km hike with a group this weekend - gah!

Pugmummy87 · 11/05/2017 13:45

I've just logged on after 3 hours sleep post night shift and cracking up at the vag chat.
skipper I can confirm that your vag doesnt become a massive black hole as soon as you turn 30! Well at least I haven't noticed! Maybe I should ask DH Wink

Online guidance suggests it is to do with flow and if you are over 30 or have given birth vaginally you are more likely to have heavy periods. Not sure I buy that to be honest. Definitely if you've had a vaginal birth, your cervix never completely closes (it often stays open that fingertip can be inserted) so that may account for needing the slightly larger size.

Wow harriet that is a lot of blood! Hope you got some biscuits after! £2.5k is a lot, but worth it I imagine for (hopefully) some answers for you.

eva I can't really see much as there seems to be a shadow over the test. Could call with waiting to test again, I'd wait at least 48 hours and as alexia says if you are indeed pregnant then hopefully you should see a stronger line. Good luck!

Just had phone call about secondment. Didn't get it I'm afraid. Oh well. You win some, you lose some!

QuietTime · 11/05/2017 13:48

PJs did you get to change your spa dates in the end (sorry if you already said)? Hooray for a more relaxed (or not - 16km?!) time Cake

Yikes harriet hope you're not too woozy; thanks for listing the conception concoction :) what do others reckon re pregnacare, etc?

Have fun in SF jam!

QuietTime · 11/05/2017 13:50

Sorry about the secondment pug, though sounds like you've got a great PMA about it xx Wine

harrietm87 · 11/05/2017 13:54

winging it pretty much was for poking me with a needle! I'm having so many tests and they seem to cost £250-£350 each. They are testing my hormones (progesterone, prolactin), loads of tests for various blood issues, and then various autoimmune tests for natural killer cells and antithyroid antibodies etc. I suspect my problem is the latter as I have autoimmune thyroid disease, however, they do not test for this on the NHS so private was my only option. We will see in 2 weeks. He also said I am likely to be hyperfertile - a bad thing apparently.

Pyjamas81 · 11/05/2017 14:08

Yep quiet - managed to change it thank goodness! New dates mean I get back on the Saturday of the bank hol weekend, so it worked out even better 👍🏼 CAN'T WAIT. I know - 16km - what are we thinking! We do like a hike though 🙂 What I'd forgotten is that I've got a PT session on Sunday morning - I've told trainer we should avoid my legs!

Sorry about secondment pug - hope you're ok xx

AlexiaB · 11/05/2017 15:02

Sorry you didn't get it Pug Flowers but well done for going for it anyway. You'll get more opportunities I'm sure. Also thanks for explaining re. cup size! Very interesting.

That's a serious amount of money Harriet so I really hope it gives you solid answers as to what the issue is. Fx! I'd also add ubiquinol/coq10 to that list for egg quality especially if he suggests you're hyperfertile.

Good to see you so positive about things pyjamas Smile The hike sounds intense but a great thing to do! Hope this is your month 🍀

LisaSimpsonsbff · 11/05/2017 17:38

Just on my way home from my work trip and catching up! Also distressed to hear about the demise of my vagina in about two months. I used to have a mooncup, but stopped having periods while I was on the Mirena and misplaced it (which now I think about it is troubling!). I thought about buying a new one when I got my coil out, but thought it would be a waste of money as I'd probably only have two or three periods before getting pregnant... Sigh!

Harriet, do you mind me asking how he told you to take the aspirin? All through the cycle or only after ov? I've been thinking about taking it - I've read so many stories online about women who had repeated losses (a lot of them around the same time as me) and then took aspirin and had a healthy pregnancy. I feel a bit funny about it - I'm not normally the sort of person to self-prescribe - but it seems that it can't hurt. I might have misunderstood what I read about it, but I thought hyperfertility was bad but not the worst. I thought it meant your body tries to continue with pregnancies that aren't viable, so you have losses - which is, of course, horrible, I'm not trying to play it down - but that, unlike some other causes of recurrent miscarriage it doesn't mean that your body will end viable pregnancies.

florafoxtrot · 11/05/2017 17:38

Hope you're ok after all the tests Harriet - does sound like a lot of blood and money but better to know what is going on.

Sorry about the secondment Pug but definitely good to show willing for new opportunities as they'll hopefully remember you next time!

Have a great trip away Jam - my SIL and little niece are currently in SF too enjoying a holiday while BIL works... not jealous of her at all obvs.

Glad you are feeling more positive PJs - there is a certain relief after FW is over and you can just be yourself again instead of pretending to be a carefree sex kitten all the time!

Got my FX for you Eva - I think I do see what you are seeing but be careful about holding tests up to the light too - think that is when indents can become obvious.

So I've got LOADS of EWCM but still no flashing smiley on my OPKs.... A lady on another forum is adamant that you ovulate the day of or the day after EWCM but I definitely do not.... and I think it makes more sense to have it in advance of ovulation as it keeps the sperm alive but am I just being weird? Off for Reflexology tonight so will have a nap see what she is saying about the alleged activity in my ovaries.

On the mooncup thing... I have noticed that my periods are more hellish since I turned 30 but had put that down to the disappointment associated with TTC as all kinda happened at the same time. Maybe is a thing though....

sk1pper · 11/05/2017 17:46

I hope you get the answers you're seeking Harriet, certainly sounds like you will. Thanks for sharing that vitamin list, very interesting. Now off to double check what I'm taking.

Jam - so jealous of your trip but enjoy your time away, what a lovely treat after your HSG

Jess - EPO should only affect your cervical mucus. I haven't heard of it screwing with ovulation day before...usu culprits are illness, stress or severe changes in pressure and/or temperatures.

Pug - sorry about the job Sad, but hopefully your BFP will come along and all will be forgotten

Eva - we definitely need a better picture. Can you fish it out of the bin and take another? Or do we run the risk of an evap line?

Pyjamas81 · 11/05/2017 18:36

Ha ha flora the days of me even attempting to pretend I'm a carefree sex kitten are long gone! Our foreplay now consists of:

Me: look at my wee stick

DH: meet you upstairs once I've watched the (insert relevant sport here)

Flashinthepan · 11/05/2017 18:37

flora I get ewcm for about 5 days before OV and then day after is normally similar but more sticky. So I would say ewcm is a sign that your body is gearing up to ovulate but not that you will necessarily ovulate the first time you see it, though of course some people might only get one day where it's visible.

Sorry about the job pug. I'm sure it's because better things are waiting for you.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 11/05/2017 19:03

flora my understanding is that it's a good thing if you get multiple days of EWCM! I normally get two days and ovulate on the second one, but everyone's different!

florafoxtrot · 11/05/2017 19:04

Thanks flash hopefully I'm gearing up and it all goes well. I've got loads of cramps today too.

PJs yeah I'm less carefree sex kitten and more impatient dragon these days.
