Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Lisa adoption? Sounds like you handled it pretty gracefully without just letting it slide...

Well said, smitten, and lovely to see you back alexia

QuietTime · 10/05/2017 05:31

And think it's great your DH is getting involved, basset!

WingingIt83 · 10/05/2017 07:08

Anyone got annoying adverts vertically on the right when viewing on their phone (website not app)

Glad it went ok jam -did you do it privately or get it on nhs? I'm going to ask about this when have my ultrasound.

Jeds55 · 10/05/2017 07:52

Morning ladies, lol was my boyf who did the £40 sperm test - as others have said think he wanted to show he was doing something to help (other than the obvsWink). But yeah don't trust the result at all! Funnily enough we had one booked at Create for the day I found out was preg in Oct but happily cancelled it.
I've also had the adoption outcome thrown at me too, seems to be a few stock answers that come out time and time again Angry
Anyways, sunny here cd 23, no symptoms other than pinky/red after run on 8/9 dpo? Trying not to get hopes up re implantation as prob to do with run... Anyone testing later this week?

sk1pper · 10/05/2017 08:11

TMI!!

Can anyone advise if mooncups are appropriate even if you have heavy periods with large clots?

KerryLeanne84 · 10/05/2017 08:31

Skipper I don't think there's really any such thing as TMI on this thread! Wink Interested in this too as I've always used pads.

The only thing that puts me off mooncups is that I was never any good at putting in tampons (hence the pads) - are they easy to get to grips with putting in, ladies who use them?

KerryLeanne84 · 10/05/2017 08:31

Alexia - I'm now CD6 so our AFs/BFPs are due around the same time in June!

Kathrino · 10/05/2017 09:09

How do moon cups work if you have to empty them in a loo where there's no sink? Does it not get a bit messy? A lot of my friends rave about them but I've never got up the courage to try.

Quiet, so sorry about the temps and the cramps. It always seems particularly cruel when you have some unusual spotting etc if that's out of the ordinary.

So much to do at work today and no idea where to start. Does anyone else ever get paralysed like that? I don't think anything will take particularly long but just struggling with the motivation to get going.

Jeds55 · 10/05/2017 09:14

Kath definitely know that feeling, have it now. I write lists, seems to focus the mind a bit.
Quiet, hope it's not af. Am sure our bodies enjoy playing these tricks on us. Keep telling boyf am not getting hopes up re the pinky bleed but of course secretly I am!

Flashinthepan · 10/05/2017 09:24

I have a mooncup and love it!

Re heavy periods, it's excellent, you may just have to empty it more, but they hold a lot of blood, more than you would expect. This is also a good thing about clots, a pad will never absorb them, obviously they just sit there (sorry gross) which I used to find uncomfortable but in the cup they just take up part of the volume of the cup.

Having said that, I had fewer clots once I started using the a mooncup.

If you go on the mooncup website, they have a big FAQ section about different ways to insert them. Once I got the hang of it, I found it easier as you can get them wet before you put them in, so if it's a day of low flow, it doesn't feel so dry. My insides feel a lot happier during AF since using a mooncup!

Flashinthepan · 10/05/2017 09:32

Sorry that was so long! Also, re the sink, I wipe it with a tissue, pop it back in, and either wipe my hands and then wash them at the sink, or use a wet wipe on my hands. If you know you'll have poor handwashing facilities, some people use a bottle of water to rinse it over the toilet and clean their hands then use antibacterial gel etc.

Glad you're feeling better Alexia. It's such a nice feeling when AF is over and it's all to play for in front of you.

I'm feeling bizarre today. I forgot to take one of my progesterone tablets last night (I know, bad Flash, but it was my wedding anniversary and we'd been out for dinner and I just forget about it!) This morning I get up for a wee and have a big gush of blood like the start of AF. On CD 20! 7 dpo! It said that when you stop taking progesterone you should get a period in 3-4 days. Not the next morning! So I've taken this morning's one and will keep taking for another 5 days, to see if it stops it, but this seems worse then when I wasn't taking them.

I thought I would feel really sad, as I know of course I can't be pregnant this month, but it's just exactly what I expected so I kind of feel a bit numb. And I've got really bad spots, which I never usually get!

Sorry for being so self involved!

AlexiaB · 10/05/2017 09:39

skipper I think it would work fine, you could maybe look at buying a bigger cup? I think a Divacup holds more but there are other options. On your heavier days you might just have to empty it an extra time than say pyjamas and I do (morning/evening).

Kerry yay for being cycle buddies Smile Omg pads are my worst nightmare! So much mess. The Mooncup sits lower in the vagina than a tampon and it's very comfortable because of its soft, squidgy material. It only took me 3 goes to "nail" putting it in, I also had to trim the stem completely off. I got mine for £16 on Amazon so definitely worth a try!

Kath no, you can safely tip it into the toilet and then use a clean tissue to just wipe it inside a bit. The cup doesn't get messy on the outside which is good (well mine doesn't anyway).

Sorry about the temp drop Quiet really hope you're not out Flowers

AlexiaB · 10/05/2017 09:49

XP there Flash - we basically said the same thing Grin Agree re clots, I never had loads but when I didn't the tampon never absorbed it, they aren't noticeable in the cup.

Someone on FF told me it's best not to insert the cup wet (on the outside) as it can affect the seal to the vaginal wall but I guess on light flow days there isn't going to be a lot of blood anyway so it wouldn't matter? My insides are much happier too!

Happy Anniversary to you and dh Wine So sorry about the bleeding Sad It really must be heartbreaking to have to deal with this every cycle. I really feel for you, big hugs Flowers You're not self centred at all either!

AlexiaB · 10/05/2017 09:50

Did*

LoveRainbow02 · 10/05/2017 09:57

Morning ladies. I agree, I think the moon cup is great. It's comfortable and takes away the gross feeling that you have if your wearing pads.

I got my blood results back this morning. Came back positive but with extremely low levels, low and behold af came in full force an hour ago 😔. I kinda expected it after my talk with the doc yesterday about a chemical pregnancy. Onto the next cycle for me and I don't think I'm going to use opks as it's too stressful.

Flashinthepan · 10/05/2017 10:22

Thanks Alexia. I really have no PMA about any of it anymore.

Love really sorry to hear that. FX this cycle will be the one.

Still keeping my FX for you too Quiet.

Londonjam · 10/05/2017 10:41

Hope you are wrong quiet xx

winging I was referred for the HSG on the NHS yes. They said its "up to me" as there was nothing to indicate that my tubes were blocked. They won't do an IUI without doing an HSG first though, I noted. There is absolutely no point surgically transferring sperm into your uterus if they can't swim up your pipes. So I thought - well there's no point in me trying naturally if they can't, either.

jeds hmmm it would not be normal for me to spot after a run. Do you get mid cycle spotting?

kath yes I absolutely get that! Sometimes I feel I have so much to do I don't know where to start so might just check MN for 5 mins instead...

Sorry flash :( you are not self involved at all hon. That's surprising the effects of the missed progesterone happened so quickly. I hope you managed to enjoy your wedding anniversary xx

rainbow what came back positive on your bloods - hcg? I'm so sorry if this was a chemical. Hope you are okay xx

I just got up to walk to the kitchen and some dye came out! Seems its not all clear yet... Am off for a stealth OPK in the office loo. Honestly, when is this going to end....

Flashinthepan · 10/05/2017 10:51

Has anyone had an HSG privately/where? I'm in SW London and definitely thinking that's my next move.

Anniversary was lovely thanks Jam. Ate amazing food and had some wine!

DH is still very hopeful it will happen for us, and rationally I know he's right, it should happen theoretically, but emotionally I don't believe it ever well.

When are you expecting to OV Jam?

Jeds55 · 10/05/2017 11:47

Jam - never spot after a run and been running regularly for years. Used to spot leading up to af for few days but since surgery that's stopped. Ran yesterday and nothing.
Sorry to hear more dye has come out - you'd think gravity would do its job quicker than that!
Sorry for af Love the first day is always the worst as until that point always a little bit of hope, even if we try not to.

Kathrino · 10/05/2017 12:17

Flash, I'm sorry about the bleeding today. I think, after a while, you have to emotionally disconnect from the whole TTC process otherwise it will just drag you further and further down. Glad you enjoyed your anniversary celebrations :)

Love, sorry about AF. Keeping everything crossed for this cycle for you.

Jam, TMI (obviously) but I often find that stuff can hang around for a day or two after sex so doesn't surprise me that there's still dye. Hopefully it will clear our quickly and certainly in time for a positive OPK.

Thanks for the mooncup advice ladies, I will definitely look into it!

KerryLeanne84 · 10/05/2017 12:18

Rainbow - so sorry to hear that.

Jam very glad the HSG went okay. Mine was brief, but intense pain so glad yours didn't hurt too much! I never got a follow up, they just told me at the time that things were completely clear.

Alexia thanks for the mooncup advice! Will give it a go!

Flash that is scary about the progesterone but at least you know they're doing their job I guess!

Pyjamas81 · 10/05/2017 12:28

I had my HSG at the Lister Clinic in London flash - can't remember how much is was exactly (will look at invoice when I get home), but think it was about £400-500. I will check though as I'm not sure!

Kathrino · 10/05/2017 12:35

Flash, I've not had one but a HyCoSy (which I think is v similar?) is £550 at CRGH according to the price list I have.

sk1pper · 10/05/2017 13:14

Thanks for all the info regarding the moon cup, I might give it a go if AF falls on a weekend. I feel nervous about trying it during full flow at work.
