Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Kerry I hope the GP takes your concerns seriously. It should be below 2 for ttc purposes so if yours isn't then they really need to help you.

Skipper I know that's very true. It was just a bit of a shock because dh is a LOT happier / more positive than I am. I'll keep you all updated.

Yes I completely understand, and you have no need to apologise hon. It's the worst time of the month and everyone deserves a rant. When AF arrives for me my mood drops and I'm in despair for a good 3 days (although it usually start before the blood arrives cause my temps are a giveaway). I just HATE the fact it hasn't worked and there's nothing I can do about it! I'm always sobbing "I can't believe we have to start all over again".

Hope you've got some nice things planned for the weekend to take your mind off it. I'm sorry but I had to laugh at your OH's comment 😂 men eh! Mine is pretty chill with it tbh, I enjoyed showing him how much blood I'd collected once haha. I really hope the Mooncup makes a huge difference to your af experience (I'm sure it will!) xx

Happy weekend girls Wine

skipper did another opk this evening and there was a very faint line. So would assume then, that I have surged. As I type I'm getting what feels like typical ovulation pains, so hoping to get a nice temp rise win the morning. Managed a gos last night, so fx.

Happy weekend all!

harrietm87 · 27/05/2017 10:57

Very random question but can anyone recommend me a good book? I'm in a lovely bookshop and want to choose a goodun!

Suspect you ladies have good taste.

KerryLeanne84 · 27/05/2017 11:01

H - i recently read the hate you give and its incredible, so is sapiens (non fiction)

Pyjamas81 · 27/05/2017 11:19

I am Pilgrim - best book I've read for years!!

florafoxtrot · 27/05/2017 12:11

The Cows by Dawn O'Porter.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 27/05/2017 12:17

I just finished reading The Bees by Laline Paull, and got a bit obsessed with it while I was reading it - it's such a strange book but really compelling!

sk1pper · 27/05/2017 14:27

I want to like the Mooncup but it keeps rising too far up into my vagina. I had a moment of rising panic just now where I stuck my finger up and could only just feel the bottom of it. Took me ages to get it out and I got stuff everywhere. Sad I don't want to be put off from using it, any tips??

sk1pper · 27/05/2017 14:38

Also hard to tell if I'm spotting or on my period right now. I've had no cramping but I've collected a fair bit today. I always cramp severely.

AlexiaB · 27/05/2017 14:49

I can only feel the bottom too skipper, I can't fit a finger up around the rim like some people suggest to 'check the seal'. It will never get lost though! And pushing for a poo brings it down lol.

The technique that works for me... (whilst sat on the toilet) I pinch the bottom of the cup and gently tug on it, always trying to pull in a straight down motion. When I feel like it's quite far out I use my thumb to feel for the large rim of the cup. Then I guide it out and then up keeping it straight at all times. I find my thumb on the rim and index finger on the bottom keeps it from spilling.

Don't worry, it takes a bit of practice and getting used to! I spilt blood on the toilet / floor the first time I used it.

AlexiaB · 27/05/2017 14:53

Actually thinking about it now I use my middle finger on the bottom on the cup, thumb on the rim and index finger helps a bit too. My wrist is usually in a weird bent position.

It's so hard to explain but I hope this helps hon xx

sk1pper · 27/05/2017 15:05

Thanks Alexia, I feel a bit better knowing yours gets right up there too! Will try your suggestions. I've just read twisting the cup a few times after insertion can help but I definitely had a good seal earlier. I had to stick my index all the way in and gentle caress the cup from the side to break the seal and coax it downwards enough to grab.

AlexiaB · 27/05/2017 15:27

No worries skipper, hope you get the hang of it very soon. Sounds like you're doing great so far; it is a strange experience at first. I can't get a finger up there so if the seal isn't breaking for me I pinch the bottom of the cup and tug to the left / right and that does the trick.

Londonjam · 27/05/2017 15:53

If it's anything like a softcup then bearing down helps! It's surprising how much your pelvic floor can push it down.

Books - I enjoyed Station Eleven last year, can't remember who wrote it but it was fabulous

Mine gets way up there as well skipper - had a right panic the first time I tried to take it out! It does get easier quickly though - - I find sitting right back on the loo and bearing down brings it down far enough for me to be able to pull it out gently.

Am back home now and feeling like a new person! A bit achy (11 exercise classes in 3 days is no joke) but generally very content ☺️

Anaconda33 · 27/05/2017 18:39

Kerry what are your thyroid results? My TSH is 9.2 and I was told it needs to be 10 to treat so they are running the test again with an antibody test in 8 weeks

I'm concerned dr not considering enough I'm TTC

All else - I'm day 13 but won't ovulate till next week as I have long cycles. It's a fallow place pre seeing on sticks every day

KerryLeanne84 · 27/05/2017 19:06

Anaconda my TSH test was 3.7 which is within the 'normal' range the NHS works to. However apparently 95% of people worldwide are 2 and under, and people generally always feel better the closer to 0 they are.

florafoxtrot · 27/05/2017 19:17

That's me out again it seems. Some brown sludge when checking cm - sorry TMI! And onto month 12. Feeling very numb and desperately sad.

KerryLeanne84 · 27/05/2017 19:32

Flora I'm very sorry. The one year mark is very hard. Apologies for not remembering, but have you already had diagnostic tests at the GP or been referred for treatment?

sk1pper · 27/05/2017 19:40

Thanks girls for all your help 😊

I've found twisting it 360 degrees once it's put in help it to open up fully in the lower position. But we'll see where it is after 8 hours XD

Fox - sorry hon, that year benchmark is a killer. At least you have the bank holiday to pamper yourself and hide away from the world if you need it.

Anaconda33 · 27/05/2017 19:41

I'm so sorry Flora

florafoxtrot · 27/05/2017 20:07

I had 21 day bloods this month Kerry but they were inconclusive so need repeated, DH has his SA on Tuesday. My rational mind knows that we are making progress but I just can't work out where we are going wrong.

Thanks Skipper unfortunately I don't have the bank holiday but think I might take a day off next week to try to get my head in order a bit. I was going to sack off tracking this cycle but think I will have to now so that I can try to make sure the 21 day bloods are done at the right time, just can't be arsed with it.
Thanks Ana

QuietTime · 27/05/2017 20:14

Shit, sorry flora - you poor thing. Hope you have something to enjoy or distract yourself with this weekend; take care FlowersFlowers

AlexiaB · 27/05/2017 20:20

So sorry Flora Flowers It's rubbish. Hope you've got some nice food / drinks, a movie and some DH cuddles to get you through this evening.

Flashinthepan · 27/05/2017 21:41

Really sorry Flora.

Sorry but I am irrationally devastated tonight. Boobs started hurting this afternoon on cd11 and we only HS on cd7 and this morning! I cant believe I've OVd this early and missed my chance! We were planning to HS for the next few days and give it a really good shot. I just feel so sad. Sorry. I know that's really pathetic but CD 11!
