Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Pyjamas - oh that sucks, you didn't even get to use one of your many pg tests. On the plus, the spa treatments should provide ample distraction. Some well deserved "me" time AND you have have a drink without any worries Wine. Still sending you my hugs though Flowers

Welcome Ana xx

sk1pper · 24/05/2017 17:35

Ooh let us know what the results are Harriet - I know what you mean regarding the knowing part. If they find something, I hope it's easily fixed.

Anaconda33 · 24/05/2017 17:40

Thanks Harriet

You'll feel better knowing I'm sure. be brave

Anaconda33 · 24/05/2017 17:46

Hi Jeds - thanks for the welcome

I naively never knew what my periods were like until I started using the Glow app in April 2016

They seemed to have settled at 33/34 days - so the 47 days one was a hoot - esp when had been religiously DTD and OPK testing (never got a positive result though). I ran a half marathon end of April and may have affected it as really went for it without enough training.

I think my batshit cycles are connected to my underachieve thyroid - I'm on the tipping point for if I need drugs to control it - was keen to get as I'm scared I don't ovulate - but Dr wants to repeat test in 10 weeks

Thermometer in the post from amazon now!

florafoxtrot · 24/05/2017 18:01

Sorry to hear about AF PJs Wine please enjoy your few days of rest and relaxation though, you really do deserve it with everything that you are dealing with. I like the sound of aqua circuit! What does that involve?

Welcome Ana - promise that I’m not always a nervous wreck around here… --lies—

I go through stages with baby stuff, occasionally I’ll look at it but I’d never buy anything. Just seems so unachievable at the moment – I’d be as well taking a test drive of a Ferrari.

Hope the test results are positive or at least give you some sort of way forward Harriet

Thank you for much Quiet and Jeds for your kind words. I’m going to phone the Surgery in the morning and ask that the Doctor phones me back to discuss the result and maybe come up with a plan in the event that CD21/7DPO falls on a weekend again. Today has been a bit crap with the results and just really busy at work and not managing to concentrate but spoke to Hubby and he was really sweet and told me he was proud of how positive I’ve been this month so that was really sweet.

Still FX for Lisa too.

And one more Flowers for Alexia - you really did make me feel better.

Hi ana I have an underactive thyroid. It is SO important to manage this well when ttc and pregnant - I cannot stress this enough! (I'm fully expecting to be told my 3 consecutive mcs were indirectly linked to this at my appointment tomorrow).

GPs in my experience are pretty rubbish with this condition. It is very common, but the vast majority of sufferers are post-menopausal, and the links to ttc and pregnancy are only just being understood. If you are borderline for treatment you must be at the high end of normal, which is actually too high for ttc/pregnancy! Do you know your TSH levels? Ie the NHS levels for "normal" tsh are up to 4.0 (sometimes 4.5), but the NICE guidelines say TSH should be under 2.0 when trying to conceive, which you are almost certainly above. It will be having an impact on your cycle so you really need to get this checked out! Let me know if you have any questions - I've done so much research into this.

Jeds55 · 24/05/2017 18:59

Hope the results are good tomorrow Harriet either way it's better to know as not knowing doesn't mean it's not happening and means you can take action.
Ana can see how a 47 day cycle would be loads of fun! Hope they get resolved soon
I don't look at baby stuff at all (unless genuinely buying for someone else then allow myself a little daydream)

Anzura · 24/05/2017 19:19

New here, first post. Somewhere I this cycle we both decided we want to actively try. Yesterday I threw out all the suggestions and tested four days early and in the middle of the day. Not surprising, I got a BFN. I was just hoping to be surprised against the odds. I told him today and we had a conversation about it. I told him I'm worried it won't happen. I have a son from my first marriage that took a long time to show up BFP, had to have surgery and cleaning at his birth and a miscarriage, maybe two after. I'm scared I can't have anymore. My man said it will happen because he will make sure.

Pyjamas81 · 24/05/2017 19:33

Thanks for the support everyone - I feel bloated and crampy, but I really couldn't be in a better place (it's Champneys in Tring Harriet) . I feel very lucky to be here 🙂 Aqua class was great (basically aerobics but in a swimming pool) and I had a bit of a swim after which helped with the pain, then I had a 'body cocoon' treatment in the spa which was a full body exfoliation, then got slathered in heavenly smelling body butter and wrapped up while I got a head and shoulder massage - I smell like angels now! Then did a stretch and relax class which was great (apart from when she asked if anyone was pregnant in the beginning and I just wanted to shout IF ONLY!!!) - but the class was just what I needed.

Now having dinner (with a glass of wine - fuck it) and the food is phenomenal!

Welcome ana Smile

I've browsed through baby stuff on occasion (and maternity wear 😳) - then mentally punch myself in the face.

Anzura · 24/05/2017 19:46

Who not browse baby stuff? A little positivity can't hurt

Londonjam · 24/05/2017 20:10

Test driving a Ferrari - I couldn't put it better myself flora . That's so sweet of your husband

I hope tomorrow gives you some clarity harriet and they have a plan

Pyjamas your day sounds heavenly and ha at the are you pregnant line I would thought the same or FAT CHANCE

I've taken inspiration and treated myself to a tub of honey and granola frozen yoghurt to enjoy in the garden 🍦

Anzura apologies I didn't make it clear on the thread title we are a TTC #1 thread - first timers only I'm afraid

Harriet - re the thyroid levels, if they should be under 2 but an NHS test reveals they're higher - do you know whether the NHS will then do anything with that info? Or do you just view it as helpful when you go private?

Or would you make changes to try to manage your thyroid without medication?

KerryLeanne84 · 24/05/2017 21:16

Harriet - I ask because I made them do that test on me and I'm pretty sure they were around 3.5

KerryLeanne84 · 24/05/2017 21:18

Harriet - just checked it online where I can see my medical records and it was 3.4

sk1pper · 24/05/2017 21:19

I've got fresh strawberries from the garden. Growing them has paid off, they are so much nicer than those you buy from the supermarket. 🍓

Flashinthepan · 24/05/2017 21:56

Friend sent me a video of her 12 week scan. It made me cry. Not in a good way.

Good luck for the results Harriet I really hope they can give you something to work on/some clarity over what's been happening. [Flowers]

Sorry about af pyjamas but what a well timed spa trip. Make sure you really enjoy yourself.

Flashinthepan · 24/05/2017 21:56

Oooo skipper they sound lovely. Me and DH have an allotment and I can't wait for the first produce of the year.

harrietm87 · 24/05/2017 22:05

kerry the NHS should treat you if you're 3.4, especially if you say you've had symptoms as well. Technically it's not possible to diagnose hypothyroidism on tsh alone - they need to do a full T3 profile and check your T4 and T3 as well.

Print out the NICE guidelines - cks.nice.org.uk/hypothyroidism - and take to your GP.

Symptoms include feeling tired, sluggish, depressed, dry skin and dry hair, hair loss, weight gain, feeling cold, long cycles, constipation (generally your body just slowing down). The thyroid is a major part of the endocrine system (which includes all reproductive hormones in a delicate balance) so can really affect conception and sustaining a pregnancy.

It's easy to treat as well with thyroxine taken every day, which replaces the thyroid hormones your body isn't making enough of.

Sorry for the big lecture but hope that helps!

harrietm87 · 24/05/2017 22:06

Ps thanks all of you for the good wishes for tomorrow. I will obviously update you immediately!

pyjamas spa sounds like bliss. I might look into it!

KerryLeanne84 · 24/05/2017 22:09

Harriet - that's SUPER helpful thank you so much ❤️

Kathrino · 24/05/2017 22:12

Wishing you lots of luck for tomorrow harriet, will be thinking of you.

sk1pper · 24/05/2017 22:19

Flash - yeah that sucks :( is a 12 week scan the first or second one? I don't even know...

Flashinthepan · 24/05/2017 22:31

The first. But it looked like a proper baby, wriggling around. I don't really feel able to be that involved, although I'm happy for her. The thought of baby showers and photos and updates just feels too much.

Anaconda33 · 24/05/2017 22:41

Harriet thanks so much for your offer of help

T4 is 10.4 TSH is 9.2

Dr wants to re run test in 9 weeks along with antibody test
TSH guideline for NHS is 10. She says she can do hormone test in 12 weeks when I'm 7 months of TTC

What do you think?

Thanks so much and im so so sorry to hear about your miscarriages

sk1pper · 24/05/2017 22:50

Flash - assume she doesn't know your TTC? I've managed to wangle out of baby showers but saying their not my thing. Maybe you can do the same? I'm sure everyone thinks I hate children by now.
