I hope I did ok with the title (thanks for the inspiration Emwithme). I felt a bit lost without a thread to post on so I thought I'd have a bash at it.

@emvy
I'll admit that I'm no pregnancy test aficionado and the only ones I've ever used are those cheap sticks they use at the GP or A&E and can buy off Amazon.

To my eye there looks like a faint second line? What CD are you on?
And when is your period due/are you late now?

I've got no idea how accurate those PG tests are i.e. do they pick up early PG/prior to period.

It looks promising (to my inexperienced eyes!)- fingers crossed

emvy · 03/06/2017 14:46

Thank you for your responses smurf and turquoise. I'm on cycle day 30, with my period having previously arrived on days 28 and 30 since mmc. So I guess until after today I'm not technically late. I have no af symptoms as of yet. I think I'm 15dpo but that's going from the day I got ewcm as that's all I do to track. I guess it's possible I didn't actually ovulate until a few days after that? So may not be quite that long since ovulation. Those tests are from Wilkinson's and apparently test levels at 20miu.. anyone know what levels First Repsonse test? They don't say on the outside of the box!

I know what you mean about the digital's smurf, I'm going to get a first response for tomorrow/Monday depending on if I can hold out and then if faint positives are showing on there, I'll get a digital for next Saturday.

I was so certain it was going to be positive that I don't know if I've imagined the whole thing?! 🤦🏼‍♀️

DancingUnicorn · 03/06/2017 15:30

Emvy apparently frers are 6.5. I can see a definite second line on that.... and I'm not wearing my glasses! Really hopeful for you. If you have a frer, test again in the morning?

emwithme · 03/06/2017 15:38

emvy I can see a really faint line. Almost could be the dictionary definition of "squinter"

Not sure about the FRER, but the Lloyds pharmacy early response are 10, and Asda "standard" (2 for £3.50) are 15.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 03/06/2017 15:51

@emvy looks like there is a second line there. FRER are 6.5 sensitivity and should give you a definite answer!

emvy · 03/06/2017 16:14

Thanks guys. Don't have an Asda near me so will pop into Tesco or Sainsbury's later today or tomorrow for a frer. A couple of my friends think they can see it too. I guess all I can do is wait a couple of days, test again and hope it's darker rather than being met with unwanted af! Will keep you informed.

Grumpy, is it possible you missed the surge? Or the surge is due in the day next day or 2? I'm not great with ovulation I don't track mine properly, sorry!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 03/06/2017 16:25

Possible but unlikely I missed it -using both CBFM and IC OPK! fx something happens soon

emvy · 03/06/2017 16:27

Hmm.. yes, fingers crossed grumpy! Hope you get a clear reading asap! 🤞🏻

BertieBotts · 03/06/2017 18:45

No idea on cervix sorry as I don't check mine as have enough info from temping.

emvy I know what you mean by the shadows on cheap tests but IMO that isn't one, it looks like a faint positive. It could be stuck like that for the next couple of days though. If you can bear it, try and wait 48 hours before testing again, and/or try to get hold of a test which is has the two thin pink lines and an oval window, like first response, but there's a generic one which is like that too. Those ones you've used with the thicker pink or purple lines and square window I have found consistently hard to read and present confusing lines.

emvy · 03/06/2017 19:06

Thanks Bertie. I've used those before but only the blue dye ones which I'd heard were less sensitive? Is that a load of rubbish? I do like the window with the cross though!

Well Sainsbury's only had cb's and it's far too early to be even considering testing with those. Sainsbury's own tests were blue dye ones so it looks like I won't be testing tomorrow and as you suggested Bertie, will be waiting the 48 hours. I'm hoping it's a little sign! Yeah... I'm mad, I know.

BertieBotts · 03/06/2017 19:13

Blue dye ones are different, they tend to have a round or square window? And they tend to be less sensitive yes and prone to evaporation lines.

Hang on I'll try and find a pic.

Angliski · 03/06/2017 20:09

@emvy just hang in there ducks the time will pass and you will know for sure. Time for a walk , to see friends, to breathe and have time out and let the time pass till you know for sure. We are all rooting for you!

emvy · 03/06/2017 21:04

Thank you angliski Smile x

BertieBotts · 03/06/2017 21:12

Okay so you've got:

Blue cross type - Window can also be square and the ones without horizontal line also work like this.

Dip strip type

Thin line pink oval window type

Thick line dark pink/purple rectangle or two window type

To my knowledge, every brand is a variation on one of these types (plus digitals of course which I didn't include.)

emvy · 03/06/2017 21:58

Thank you so much Bertie - that's so helpful! Xx

tobeornottobe1 · 03/06/2017 23:34

Could I ask a question please?
Today Around 1pm I had an almost positive opk, today evening its not as dark, could I have missed the positive in between? And if the opk line becomes less dark does this
Mean ovulation has happened? Thanks

Angliski · 04/06/2017 15:07

Day 10 post iui - the waiting is doing my head in.

Angliski · 04/06/2017 15:35

Went a bit mad at Columbia road flower market as aSmile distraction and now I don't know how I will get it all home!!!

Juno2002 · 04/06/2017 15:52

Hello all, hope you don't mind me jumping in. I miscarried at 5.5 weeks a couple of weeks ago, first pregnancy Sad My problem is I get married at the end of the month and if you take the first day of the miscarriage as CD1, AF is due on my wedding day, talk about kick me when I'm down! We're trying again so there's a chance I could get pregnant before then which would be amazing Grin but otherwise what are people's experiences of first AF after a miscarriage? I've heard it can be quite heavy Hmm

emvy · 04/06/2017 15:58

Sorry tobeornottobe, I don't use opk's so I'm not really the one to ask, I'm sure someone will be able to offer some advice though.

Angliski I don't blame you at all! Great distraction technique though! Love the flowers!

So sorry for your loss Juno. You're in a good place with this lot! As for first af after mc though - mine was fine. Had quite a long drawn out amount of spotting at the end (that I've had each month since) but other than that, pretty normal. It was a bit thicker, a few more clots but not horrendous like I've heard some can be.

Bertie - they had no frer's at Superdrug! So had to get the Superdrug own brand early response which test levels of 10. Will test with fmu tomorrow. Are these the ones you meant?

Juno2002 · 04/06/2017 16:05

tobeornottobe you could have done, perhaps the concentration was a bit different? The only thing you can do is DTD and keep your fingers crossed!

emvy thank you for your reply. As sad as it is to hear about everyone's losses, it's a comfort to know we're not on our own. I really hope AF is kind, just for a day! Not a lot to ask is it!

BertieBotts · 04/06/2017 16:05

I don't know about the superdrug ones, sorry. I'm not sure if they're closer to the oval pink type or the rectangle pink type. I'm not in the UK or I'd get some and have a look. I do vaguely recall people saying they're alright though?

tobeornottobe1 · 04/06/2017 16:38

Thank you emvy and juno, so frustrating, ive been dtd so hopefully ill be covered.

emvy · 04/06/2017 16:53

It really is Juno, and everyone here is so supportive and helpful.

Ah ok, thanks Bertie. They have an oval window from the picture on the box. As long as I get a clearer line tomorrow I'll be happy. I've been feeling rather positive but the closer I get, the less convinced I am...

I'm sure you'll have covered it then tobeornottobe! Fx!

Can I join? Sadly lost twins at 9 weeks. I was shocked it was twins! It's been a rollercoaster. One went first but was told surviving one would be just fine. Sadly it wasn't to be and it died a few days later. Been the worst few months of my life. I've been bleeding since week 6 so a while now.

Had my Surgical management of miscarriage 10 days ago. Was dreading it but been pretty ok so far. Spotting now but no major bleeding after. Still testing VERY positive on tests.

Really want to try again asap. Waiting til first period. It's gonna be ages isn't it.

I have one child already and this has really shocked me. I just assumed I'd be fine this time. What an idiot!

Things I'm freaking out about:
Retained product after my procedure
Infertility following this procedure
That my old ovaries drop 2 eggs again! Just one next time please!

I'm having a rough time but I guess starting to feel "normal" again
